Well, you've read the notes, the notes were untraveled and Jewish, and now it is time for you to post until the untraveled cows come home - they're MOOish.

BK, the thread was actually in the Cast Recording page in a discussion of the Richard Harris DVD of the stage production of Camelot.  When I posted last night, I couldn't remember which site it was on.

I was sure I'd read every work Alan Jay Lerner had written on anything, but Me W let me know I needed to read more.  I'm already convinced that I've read more this month than that pretentious twit has in the past lifetime.

I have to go to Music Theatre International this morning, and pick up some scores. Then I'm back to Guys & Dolls for the remainder of the day.  I hope we'll get a better picture of this Appalachia situation today as well.

I like the Baseball rule that DR CILLA LIZ was talking about.  I think it should apply to theatre, too.   If the show gets too long, they can do Act Three the next day, and then do the whole play for the new audience.

My question for ASK BK DAY:

Does the production company know that Mr Sherman is coming to see their production of MARY POPPINS?

Last night's rehearsal was okay.....the play is now blocked.  I have finally decided how I want to put the furniture......it SHOULDN'T mess up anyone's blocking.....I am only worried about one person.

I was breaking up last night during Norman's heart attack scene.....it just struck me as funny.....and Ethel always gives a running commentary...... "Line from the show.....damn I dropped my book.....line from the show.....this is crazy.....line from the show.....where the hell am I going.....line from the show....hold on, I'm getting there....."

The stage version of MARY POPPINS is so rotten, I don't know how Mr Sherman can sit through it.  I'd take the money and run.

I am home from MTI with The Most Happy Fella orchestra score and some printed scores for Guys & Dolls.

When I got home, the good news was waiting for me: Moonshine and Mistletoe will get a reading at the York Theatre on August 1!  Per AEA rulings, we are allowed 29 hours of rehearsal the week before.  all we need now is a cast!

On my way down to MTI this morning, I ran into Matthew, my best friend from college.  I found him a job working for a producer in 1986 after he and his girlfriend Myra split up ad he moved from Boston to Manhattan.  He has sold his co-op in Prospect Park and he's moving to San Francisco,  I'll be sorry to see him leave.

Myra was one of the passengers who died in a plane from Boston to LA on 2/11. She also went to college with me.

I had to bail on the auction after a little over an hour because I saw how it was going to go, especially how slow they were moving.  After three hours they're only on lot 105 of 540 lots.  It's because their auctioneer is an idiot and doesn't know how to move it along.  If he was a pro, each lot would last from one to two minutes.  Some of them lasted ten minutes while dealers in the room and on the phone and on the Internet tried to outdo each other.  There were several huge lots of stuff from estates - two lots, 5,000 photos each, went for over 40K each and one was won by the idiot lady in front of me, clearly a dealer.  She tried to win every script, too, sending those prices skyrocketing.  If I auction any more scripts, of which I have a lot of goodies left, it will be with these people.  Heritage doesn't get these whack job bids.  There was a Dial M For Murder script, which is basically the play, and it went for eight GRAND.  I had many better Hitchcock scripts in the Heritage auction and none of them brought that kind of money, and I'm talking about every draft of Vertigo, North by Northwest, all the key ones - I would have tripled the dough in this auction.  Who knew?  The stills go nutty, so all my stills will go to these people.  I mean scripts that had a value of two to five hundred bucks were going for over 5K.

At three o'clock they are 176 lots in out of 540 lots.  The auctioneer is trying now to move it along, but it's too late, really.  The Bettie Page stuff is getting a lot of passes - only half the lots have had bids.

I have driven a 15 foot long. 10 1/2 foot tall truck on the Long Island. Expressway, the cross Bronx expressway, the throngs neck bridge, the George asking ton bridge, the jersey turnpike and interstate 95 and lived to tell the tale

You win, DR Vixmom!  Today I only drove a Honda CRV along I-4 through downtown Orlando and I-95 to Walterboro, SC, where we are staying at a Holiday Inn Express on reward points.

I joined Cast Recordings to witness all the hubbub, bub!

I visited the FB page of the character that's drawing fire from BK and Elmo.

One can tell from his photos that he's full of himself....and then some.  But...I'm sure he's basically a nice person.

Tends to write in "absolutes", though.

Recommendation to all and sundry:

Farmer Jon's (Virtually Hull-less) Buttered Movie Theater Popcorn

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh,

Bought mine via QVC.

It's devastatingly delish....and no hulls get caught in your teeth!!

Years ago, my former supervisor used to buy something like that on QVC, too.  I wonder if it's the same thing.  She said she LOVED the hull-less-ness of the popcorn.

When I got home, the good news was waiting for me: Moonshine and Mistletoe will get a reading at the York Theatre on August 1!  Per AEA rulings, we are allowed 29 hours of rehearsal the week before.  all we need now is a cast!

And an audience!  We'll be there - if we're allowed and depending on what Richard learns from the ophthalmologist next week...

DR Cillaliz, I think this commission work sounds very interesting but very time consuming.

Nah, We have the applications, I took one night reading them all.  We'll have one full day of interviews and make our recommendations to the judges who choose the magistrate,  That's it.

I like the Baseball rule that DR CILLA LIZ was talking about.  I think it should apply to theatre, too.   If the show gets too long, they can do Act Three the next day, and then do the whole play for the new audience.
LOL!!

DR Cillaliz the details of sitting on the commission are interesting and far less stressful than when you competed for the position of a judge.

Today was Beverly Hills Day for me. I drove my neighbor, whose name is Zen, to a spine specialist for a procedure. They would not allow him to take a taxi home. For those of you not familiar with Beverly Hills, it is as ungrid-like as it can be. I checked Google Maps and both Zen and I thought Roxbury Drive would work, but then I discovered there is no left turn onto Wilshire Blvd. The sort of thing that online maps generally don't tell you. We encountered a couple more of those, but we got there in good time. BK, of course, knows LA intimately, and would have known these things.

Well, I need to go now.  Tonight is Theater Artists Olympia's monthly board meeting (two weeks later than usual, though), and I need to print out the information for my monthly budget report.  After that, I'll drive up the hill from downtown Olympia to my friend Margo's house and give her a DVD that I burned of the last three episodes of "Game of Thrones."  We'll certainly visit for a while before I leave, and then I'll go home.

Be back later.

Once they took Zen I walked down the street for a bite of lunch. Not Mr Chow's. I took my time, returned and read a magazine (sooo last century!) until Zen was out of recovery. Traffic wasn't light, but it wasn't horrible, either.

I'm really glad this is over. Zen's been trying to have it done for a couple months now and each time some problem has arisen. I hope it reduces his pain. I try many, many things myself; some help, some don't. But you have to try.

It's the Cast Recordings group on Facebook.

I got in a kerfuffle with the moderator a few years ago and headed for the hills.

Greetings from the Mattei Family - Matt, Ben and Leo.   To report today:

Leo - doing great on the leash, doing his business outside
Ben - still a sweetheart.... but wants absolutely nothing to do with Leo.

Family Time - FAIL. Trying to get the boys to say hi to each other. So, because I'm terrified that Ben is going to attack Leo, I tried a mesh muzzle on Ben. Well, he wanted nothing to do with Leo - he's ok with the muzzle, but doesn't even want to acknowledge Leo. So, Leo went back in the pen and Ben and I (sans muzzle) sat on the other side, while Leo poked his nose/paws through. Ben sat on my lap constantly looking away from Leo. He finally went to his bed. I took out Leo again and we sat near Ben. Ben sat in his bed with his head turned away from us the entire time.

I know it's just Day #2, but I worry that as each day goes on, they will grow farther and farther apart. Here's the thing, I don't think Ben is threatened by Leo, but scared of him.

So, tomorrow, we try again. Every day better, as my Uncle Aldo used to say!

I've decided to re-think my vacation August.  Going to shorten it and throw out the visits to several missions and Hearst Castle.  Instead, a day at Disneyland and a few days in LA - Universal Studios, seeing Grey Gardens with Betty Buckley and Rachel York, and see some friends.   And I'll fly and rent a car instead of driving.  Cutting everything down from 7 days to probably 4.   It's for the best for a lot of reasons.

Except I got the official confirmation of the promotion, which takes place July 10, except it's still not public yet.

CONGRATULATIONS!

Didn't the Untraveled Jew also go to Mexico?

I did do a jog, and now I'm making four teeny-tiny mini-taco things - I bought them frozen at Costco and am really fond of their awfulness - and four of them are well under 200 calories and I just jogged that off.  For lunch I had a breakfast burrito with only eggs, a bit of cheese, and onions, so very calorie friendly that was - and no more sweets for the next eight weeks.

I'm home.

That's so cool!  I would LOVE to see that show with them.  The one time I went to NYC in 1995, I saw Betty Buckley in SUNSET BLVD., and Rachel York in VICTOR/VICTORIA...in the same week!  They both were fantastic!  I was so surprised that Rachel York wasn't nominated for a Tony.
