Well, you've read the notes, the notes passed, and now it is time for you to post until the passing cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: TOWSER!
-
First post after BK!
-
George, PM answered.
-
Tom, answered PM replied back. :)
-
And now, I want to get some sleep. After our brunch, I'm going to my parents' house to visit with the re-visiting German uncle and aunt. Fortunately, my parents only live about a mile and a half (according to mapquest) from the restaurant. I hope I don't eat too much over the course of the day.
-
Good night, Tom. See you in just about nine hours!
-
Good Morning to All
-
TOD
When I did eat donuts, and I might again in the future, I always like the Boston Kreme with custard. Also enjoyed the glazed and chocolate frosted.
-
I also enjoy a Boston cream donut. My favorite is a hot Krispy Kreme glaze donut but they closed all the Long Island locations
-
I wonder if the have Krispy Kreme in Orlando....
-
Good morning, all.
-
I think I looked up and found one or two in Orlando. Not sure. I know there was one in Melbourne.
-
Where I visit in Cincinnati just got a new one, so they're back to opening sone stores again.
-
First post from Manhattan!
-
Time to get some donuts!
-
Good morning, all!
-
DR vixmom, I hope that apartment fires that obnoxious receptionist. I am also happy that you settled for now, Enjoy your visit.
-
This morning, I will head down to the Lincoln Center NYPL and check out those Guys & Dolls photos/ While I'm there, I want to see the exhibits are up. One of them is by Jean Druesedow, for whom I was a graduate assistant between 1969 and 1971,
-
My beloved Little Pie Company has been pushing their peach pie, which is one of their seasonal pies and I have a huge craving to try it.
-
Saturday morning greetings! I slept more than 10 hours last night, which is very unusual for me. Maybe I should drive almost 1000 miles in 3 days more often. Or not.
-
Glad to hear that yesterday is over for Vixmom. Every time my drive got difficult, I thought, "At least I'm not driving a truck!" Hope there's some relaxation in store over the weekend.
-
Vixmom needs to head over to Downtown Disney, claim a comfy seat in T-Rex, order some yummy snack foods, and wash it all down with three Margaritas.
-
Good morning!
-
Belated Happy Canada Day!
-
I'm enjoying reading about DR vixmom's adventures !
-
I also received Paint Your Wagon and will be listening today.
-
Only one more week for La Cage at the Signature Theatre. I saw it again last night--it's really a great production.
-
TOD:
Actually, I don't remember the last time I had a doughnut.
-
Chester, my dog, is going to the groomer in about an hour.
That's always a highly emotional experience for him.

We have been talking about going to Universal tomorrow
-
My car needed fixing, and it's done . So I have to drive the rental car to go get my car. Maybe I'll get doughnuts, too!
-
DR KevinH might recognize this jernt...
-
And per BK's notes...
-
Well, over the past two hours I've eaten a breakfast consisting of cookies.
But if you sat a couple of doughnuts down in front of me, I could forget about those cookies soon enough.
-
TOD:
I like anything with chocolate. I also like jelly-filled donuts. I prefer raised donuts over cake ones. I also like crullers and the old-fashioned type. My least favorite is maple.
-
I liked cream filled donuts.....and donuts with nuts.....but it has been awhile since I had either.
Now mostly I buy donut holes from WalMart.
-
Rehearsal was okay.....and we have FIVE run throughs next week....and we need each and every one of them.
-
Our beloved Stan's...then and now?
-
I am home from the library and thoroughly pissed off. When I missed my opportunity to visit Special Collections yesterday, I checked the website about their hours today. The information told me it was open today from 10:30. Imagine my surprise when I got there this morning to find it closed until July 5.
I see that today's website has different information and they are closed. Why the fat hell was it different yesterday?
-
Good morning
-
Donuts..... I'm always up for trying new types of donuts, but my stomach always says "Why do you bother?"... so it has to be good, or I just don't.
-
Working on the dogs.... I have hope!
-
Good morning.
-
Every time I was in Ontario CA for a meeting, I would visit Miss Donuts and bring a donut home for my daughter. Sometimes they got squashed in my carry-on bag. I'm not sure I ever ate one myself.
-
TOD - Not many donuts on my diet anymore, but I do love a lemon-filled topped with powdered sugar. Or a fried Danish from Central Pastry here in Middletown.
-

Should be safe - most of the librarians have cleared out by now...

I didn't know my beloved Little Pie Company is now selling donuts!

Those pies look incredible!

Just back from an endless morning - was up at eight-thirty after six hours of sleep - called the car detailer who was just too booked up and couldn't get to me until Monday. So, I immediately went to the NoHo car wash, and since I hadn't had it washed in over five months I had them do what the detailer would have done - a complete detailing inside and out and they did an amazing job and I'm sure it was cheaper than the other person would have been. The car looks brand new - it took two hours. Then one of my back tires looked low, so I put air in all four just to be safe then went to a garage and they said the back two need to be replaced soon but are okay for now - so I'll do that on Tuesday just to get it out of the way.
-
"Fugue for Tin Horns" is proofed, with only one error and it was in the original full score and parts.
Since i didn't get to the NTYPL, I will hold off on "Follow the Fold" until after I see the phot files, and proceed now to "The Oldest Established Floating Crap Game."
-
Will go jog soon. Hungry, but I'll hold out until dinner.
-
Anyone get their CD today?
-
Hello, everyone.

I don't blame you at all for being upset. People just don't update their websites. They're often heavy on the ads and promotions and light on meaningful and up-to-date information. Most annoying.

I stopped eating donuts in my early twenties when I "converted" to a healthier diet. I really never missed them. When I did eat them I liked glazed donuts, but can't say I really cared for any of the others.

My mother, before she went to pieces, used to fry donuts in a huge cast iron skillet full of hot oil. She roll out the dough, cut them with a donut cutter and they'd float on the hot oil and turn golden brown. then she'd toss them in a paper bag with confectioner's sugar. They were wonderful, one of my fondest memories of the early 1950s.
-
A few months ago my favorite food store, which has a very good deli section, started selling freshly baked croissants. It had been many years since I'd eaten a croissant, but I used to enjoy them. But these! Ah! To die for! This is now my one indulgence! (One of many, some might say.)
If I'm going to eat something unhealthy, the pleasure derived must outweigh the downsides. Yes on the croissants, no on the donuts.

I don't think I've ever eaten truly fresh donuts. If I had, I'd probably like them better.
It didn't help that a neighbor down the street worked in a bakery where they made donuts. One day each week he'd bring home fresh donuts for his family, but never on the other days. Only on the days when they used fresh cooking oil.
-
Air fryers are available at Williams Sonoma and other stores. The reviews I read were very good. I don't know of any restaurants that are using them, though. I'd feel more comfortable eating fried foods from an air fryer. They use only a tablespoon or so of oil.
-
I do love samosas.
-
Vixmom, you didn't do all the driving yourself, did you?
So glad this is now behind you. Like DR Ginny, I hope you have a nice break before returning to work.
-
DR Jane, I'm watching PERSON OF INTEREST on Netflix, which means I'm usually a season behind. Netflix has the first four seasons. Was the one that just concluded season 5? I don't think I've watched season 4.
-
Back to household chores and some lunch.
TTFN.
-
DR GINNY mentioned Lemon Donuts. Now I want one.
-
Congrats to MR BK on his like new car. Sometimes I think that my car drives better when it is freshly washed.
MR BK - does the theatre know that Mr Sherman will be in the audience tonight?
-
I liked DR VIXMOM's typing yesterday....especially
DR ELMIRE
-
Yes, they know the Shermans are coming.
-
Listening to a Ned Rorem opera of Miss Julie - he can be very melodic when he wants to be - but most of this is just too noisy for my taste - it's fascinating to me, it's almost like they think that being a modern opera they have to go to that land. Robert Ward, in his incredible The Crucible opera, avoids all that stuff.
-
Anyone get their CD today?
Ooooo, I haven't looked. I'll do so on my way out of the complex!!!
-
Shortly I shall be on my way to sup and see Mary Poppins. It's a bit of a drive, but I'll have the delightful Shermans with me.
-
Where is it playing?
-
Anyone get their CD today?
No. Bummer.
-
TOD:
Mom's doughnuts have always been my favorite, of course. They were simple doughnuts, fried and then glazed (vanilla or chocolate). When they're warm, they are incredible. I don't know if she's made them in the last 30 years.
-
That's certainly a food memory I treasure.
-
I also like stale doughnuts because I can make bread pudding with them. Drool.
-
I shouldn't be thinking of sweets. I had too many today.
-
Went to an early Fourth of July party this afternoon. I made something wonderfully disgusting called Big Red Cake.
Take a yellow cake, poke it with holes, top it with a strawberry-Big Red soda gelatin combination and let it set. Then top it with instant vanilla pudding. Finally add a layer of Cool Whip and fresh fruit. It should be strawberries, but for the holiday, I used blueberries to give it a red-white and blue feel.
-
People ate it.
-
Jeanne, thank you for telling me about Bill Cunningham.
I'm watching a documentary, Bill Cunningham: New York, right now. Wonderful story.
-
I was sorry to learn of the passing of Elie Wiesel.
"I still believe in man in spite of man."
-
Has anybody heard about this documentary "Tickling"? Sounds strange enough to make me want to see it.
-
I'm shocked, and I shouldn't be, at the amount of Nazi-tinged vitriol in the comments on the Wiesel obituaries.
-
Hi, Vixmom. Have loved the trip notes.
-
Hello, 0 guests.
-
What are you favorite types of doughnuts?
-
Can we get off this page?
-
Perhaps.
-
In a moment.
-
Four!
-
Hi all the Vixter and vixBF are enrouteteenroute to their apartment with the memory foam mattress vixBF bought on line and had delivered to his apartment
-
Today the cable Man came and installed the Internet
-
Then the three of repaired to the local IHOP for a leisurely brunch
-
Then back to the apartment to move furniture and boxes this way and that
-
The off to Walmart to get a microwave , kitchen garbage pail, dish rack, and a set of dishes
-
Because of the troubles at move in time the manager ended up giving them $250 off the 1st and 2nd months rent! ( I had not realized this fact before)
-
While we were at Walmart they looked at the TV
-
They were running a 4th of July sale and they were able to get a 40 inch Sony flat screen smart tv under $300. So (including tax and a 3 year warranty) so they decided to splurge
-
As we were checking it out there was a sound like a freight train running overhead...
-
Ah yes the heavens had opened
-
So we hovered in the entry way with all the electronics until it finally tapered off
-
Then back to the apartment for more furniture moving and rearranging of boxes
-
Then we headed out to the local mattress shop to gets box spring and bed frame
Where they received the 30% off and 1/2 price delivery and set up fee
-
They had been gifted with a very nice wooden headboard and a frame. But the frame was not very robust and was missing its hardware ( wh had we only discovered when we attempted to put it together
-
Vixbfs folks had offered to give such and such a sum to the the kids towards a sofa
-
Since there was a "rooms to go " furniture store next to the mattress shop also of course running the requisite holiday sale we went over to look
-
There were two sofas available for exactly then amount promised by his folks and they both agreed on one of them
-
The bedding delivery is tomorrow and the furniture on Friday
-
So while the kids are wrestling the mattress I am at vixbfs current apartment doing my laundry and relaxing a bit
-
Jeane to answer your question, yes I did all the driving if the truck myself. The kids took turns driving the Vixters car. They followed me all the way as I was limited on speed ( and certain roads. But that really was only kin NY and NJ
-
I only discovered once I got down here that. Was also supposed to go through all the truck weight stations.... I thought that only applied to commercial vehicles like tractor trailers ... So I blew right past them... There must have been at least 20 -25 on the way not more.
-
Fortunately nobody came after me for not stopping
-
Vixmom, Traffic Scofflaw!
-
Michael Cimino, director of "The Deer Hunter" and "Heaven's Gate," has died.
-
Spit Spot vibes for MR BK and The Shermans. I would be very nervous if I was in the cast.....not for any real reason.....
I suppose it's more normal for the creative artists to be in the audience in California than it is in INDIANA....although I was very happy to be with MR BK and DR CHARLES POGUE as part of the audience for THE BRAIN FROM PLANET X several years ago.
-
Robin Hardy, director of The Wicker Man (1973) has died.

I can hear the blurbs now.
For some, it was The Passing of Another Car Wash.
For Vixmom, all that mattered was The Passing of Another State Line!
-
Must have banjo music for the theme.

Good night, all.

Back from the show and shall now write some notes.

Good evening!
-
A busy day
-
First breakfast with George, Jane, and Keith.
-
Then I had company over this evening to watch SHE LOVES ME and SECOND SAMUEL.
-
I thought SHE LOVES ME was wonderful.
-
It is very late for me to just be getting to bed.
-
I am wired for sound!
-
One more post.
