Well, you've read the notes, the notes had a little Tish and a little Tash, and now it is time for you to post until the Tish Tash cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: SELENOTROPISM!
-
First post after BK!
-
I have nothing else to say.
-
Topic of the Day: late last night, I finished watching the region 2 DVD of "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone." There were only a few moments where they said or showed written on paper "Philosopher's Stone." They shot those scenes twice to get both versions. I'd read that they did that because in England (and other places I'm sure) the book is known by it's original title, and not the American version, "...the Sorcerer's Stone." It'd been a long time since I'd seen it, and man, were they all really young. It's still a good movie.
-
And now, I'm off to bed.
Have a good day, all.
-
Good morning, all!
-
I slept rather well, with a couple of weird dreams. I remember in one of them I was writing a book a biography about a sleazy American family - in politics or something - with many misbehaving offspring.
-
This is an intense Guys & Dolls day. There may be a market trip, which I need.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Woke too early, but I guess my sleep was okay. One abstract musical dream, and I have no more clue what it was about than you do.
-
More coffee!
And an everything bagel, lightly toasted, slathered with olive/pimento cream cheese spread.

GD Vibes for DR ELMIRE
-
ON GOLDEN POND keeps rolling along. We open next week. Tonight is a full dress rehearsal minus ONE actor.....so there you are.
My problem actor has a terrible problem with changes, so some blocking that just doesn't work can't be changed.....if I change something, he forgets his lines completely....and is useless for the next five minutes.....
Something that was supposed to be fun has become a terrible chore.....there is no joy in my directing life right now....but it will soon be over....and I think audiences will like it. We are running at about 111 minutes....not including the intermission, so we will be just over two hours - I'll take that.
-
It's been my usual two hours to get myself together, but I'm now ready to work. I've been writing about grad school this morning.
-
Another tax office day today. A few totally unexpected deadlines!
-
GD Vibes for DR ELMIRE
What, those GD vibes again!? :D
-
DR Jrand, I am sorry the joy has gone out of directing the show.
-
TOD:
No idea.
-
Last night, we watched the original TAKING OF PELHAM ONE TWO THREE with Walter Matthau and Robert Shaw.
I hadn't seen it in 15 years. It holds up very well. Great action thriller...with humor.
-
The day before last I watched GOLDENEYE, a James Bond film with Pierce Brosnan,
I had seen it when it first came out and once more when it was released onto DVD, yet watching it again, I had absolutely no memory of it. Nothing!
And, for good reason. It was terrible.
-
TOD: Scudda Hoo! Scudda Hay!
-
Me, too, DR JANE.....but soon it will be over.
-
I agree with what MR BK said in the notes. Jayne Mansfield was a delightful comedienne.....her two big films: ROCK HUNTER, GIRL CAN'T HELP IT were terrific....and then it was as if no one wrote scripts for her anymore....she was stuck with a lot of second rate material..... Maybe Tashlin was the only director who really understood what she was all about.
-
Good morning, all.

That is a favorite action flick. The remake sucked b
-
TOD: no clue. Too much to do plus packing to leave for Louisville
-
I am enjoying Stephen King's End of Watch on audio.
-
Breakfast this morning has been about 8 or 9 figs from the daily haul. Today I picked three dozen.
-
One more ...
-
Two!
-
Friday morning greetings! We are waiting for a delivery, then we'll go out to do some errands. We're keeping our eyes on the skies because there's a hot air balloon festival in town this weekend.

Love it. One of the great 1970s flicks. No remake for me, thankyouverymuch.

Guess you ain't got no pocketknife on you. It's how we use ta sharpen pencils.
-
DR JOHN G the picture of that jackfruit you posted the other day was SCARY.
-
I doubt I will ever play again with jackfruit, JRand. It didn't strike me as being tasty enough for all the work involved.

And it was uphill each way.
-
BK, does Kritzerland still work with Capitol Records? I think this needs to be reissued.
-
I've been looking for that LP for years! I've never heard it.
-
My favorite battery powered pencil sharpener just bit the dust. My life is over.
:o NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
I'm up, I'm up. The tree people were back at eight-twenty knocking on my door. Of course no one told me they were coming. I let them in the yard, and went back to sleep then got up at eleven-thirty. However, I got involved reading an article last night so didn't fall asleep until four, so I think I got seven hours.

Earwig:

(Fool for you) Oh me oh my (I)
I am crazy (crazy baby)
Oh me, oh my (me oh my)
Yeah I'm a fool for ya baby
C'mon let your love light shine on me

Don't worry, George. Elmo always rises from the ashes...

I found this on eBay about 18 years ago. It's in my "collection".

Another way was to expose the graphite (I did it by gnawing at the tip of the pencil) and then sharpening that graphite by extreme shading on a piece of paper (i.e., vigorously rubbing the tip against a sheet of paper at an extreme angle).
-
Two!
Too
And also.
-
FB is awash in the morbidity of all the violence and mayhem across the U.S.
That, plus the cretinous political postings blaming Obama and Black Lives Matter for the Dallas shootings makes me want to throttle the perpetrators.
-
I am not reading BookFace today....it's worse than the news.....
-
I shall soon be on the way to a DRESS REHEARSAL of ON GOLDEN POND
-
Guess I should eat something and see if there are any packages to be picked up. The question is, as always, to go sit in a restaurant, or to go to Gelson's and get something. Interestingly, while Jerry's or anywhere else around here for that matter, isn't exactly cheap, I always spend more when I go to Gelson's - kind of crazy, actually.

One of the big library book sales starts tomorrow. Will I go? You betcha. I don't buy everything in sight like I used to, but there's always something. So, will I get up extra early to get a numbered admission ticket along with the dealers? Several years ago I was doing that every time. Nowadays, it rarely seems worth it. If I'm there and in line to get in right after them, it's not a deal breaker as it seems we are rarely after the same things.

As a kid, I used to love library book sales. Found more than a few vinyl copies of cast albums, theater books, etc. Well, nowadays, not so much. At least at the library sales here. 20 used copies of 50 Shades of Gray, etc.
-
I wonder if we can turn the page.
-
I'll try to post some more times.
-
With just me and 0 guests present, it's going to be mostly me, I reckon.
-
I know it's irritating to see post after post by the same person in an effort to turn the page.
On the other hand, it gets the job done.
-
We are having an absolutely beautiful day here in Oakland today.
We're at the end of the first week in July and it has been rather cool. Even as pretty as it is outside, the termperature is very moderate.
-
The afternoon is plodding along. Had an entertaining lunch hour covering someone else's desk while she had lunch.
People came to me about problems they needed fixed. And I fixed 'em. Made a few lives easier at the time.
-
One more post.
-
And here we are, finally on page 3.
-

I never knew about library book sales until we moved to Massachusetts.

Y'all have an awesome weekend, now. Y'heah?
-
M-o-o-n, that spells "awesome weekend." Lawse yes.
-
Let's have some damn CD reviews :)
-
Back from an instant replay of yesterday's lunch - chopped salad with a little ham and avocado and a bagel. Was joined by Michael Sterling. I'll go jog in about an hour, I think. That will put me back to about 650 calories and I'll up that with some almonds and dried cranberries later.
-
I have no idea what we will watch tonight. Last night we watched the final episode of ROYAL PAINS. We didn't think too much of the final two episodes.
-
I guess my FB page is pretty calm in comparison to others. Basically it is filled with compassion.
-
Richard now has a prism affixed to his right glasses lens. It's supposed to relieve the double vision, but he's not yet convinced. He can't drive, of course, and is somewhat apprehensive about celebrating his retirement mass on Sunday.
-
It would be a shame if he missed it. Vibes tomorrow find him feeling 100% better!
-
Oh, I don't think he'll miss it - he's too ready to have it behind him.
-
I can't believe he won't have a fine time, weird vision notwithstanding. Vibes for a great weekend for him.
-
And for you, too!
-
Well, I have a TOD now: I'm going to watch CRIMSON PEAK. Just because. And after that, well, we shall see what happens after that.
-
Thanks, DR ChasSmith! It's kind of bittersweet, but I can't say I'll miss the 200-mile round trip...
-

Bittersweet but it seems it is time for him to retire.

-
Well, I'm off to my parents' house. My mom has made some enchiladas, so that'll be good. :)
Be back later.
-
...beyond time, DR Jane...
For sure!
-
We went for an evening "stroll" and ended up walking home a bit on the fast side to beat the heavy rain.
-
Good evening!
-
Sandy was looking and feeling better today.
-
He has taken off six pounds of water weight this week.
-
We went to Goldberg's for lunch. A great Jewish deli (which I didn't even know existed) in Factoria Square near Mercer Island.
-
A great Jewish deli, sounds good :)
-
I had the corned beef and turkey on rye, with potato salad (Yes!).
-
I hope to never find out what 6 pounds of water feels like.
-
Next time I would just go with the straight corned beef. It was awesome.
-
I am now heading off to see the opening night of MARY POPPINS.
Pray for Rosemary's baby!!
-
I probably won't be home until after 11:00, so puh-leez post a lot this evening.
-
We are already ahead of last evening.
-
The Internet has been wonky here the past few days
-
Vibes and prayers for Father Richard
Thank you, DR Vixmom!
-
We are watching Trumbo.
-
Sandy was looking and feeling better today.
Vibes for Sandy.

Anybody here?
-
Hello, 1 Guest.
-
What's your favorite library book sale find?
-
Posting is proving to be a problem.
-
I think it's my laptop.
-
Page four? Really? Posting MUST be a problem.
-
Nope, not a problem.
-
Must go to Gelson's to get some items for she of the Evil Eye.
-
The problem was with that old laptop. Using a new one now.
-
Hopefully this is better.
-
I ushered an outdoor showing of La Bamba tonight.
-
It was 100 degrees outside. And we had 250 people show up.
-
That's San Antonio.
-
I had never seen the movie before. I really enjoyed Lou Diamond Phillips' performance.
The script was formulaic.
-
I didn't like the heat. We had to wear most of our standard uniform: white collared shirt (I don't have one with short sleeves) and black pants.
-
It's cooled off to a more manageable 81 degrees now.
-
Mr. Smith, are you out there?
-
The new laptop is also taking forever to post.
-
I'd like to take this to another page.
-
But I'm running out of time.
-
Five!
-
Good night.
-
Back from Gelson's. Had some almonds and dried cranberries.

Well, I'm off to my parents' house. My mom has made some enchiladas, so that'll be good. :)
Be back later.
And they were good, too. :D

I can't remember.

Now I want enchiladas.
-
The movie was excellent.
-
I need to read as I haven't been reading much lately.
-
'night
-
Good evening.
-
What's your favorite library book sale find?
Mine was the collection of every Stephen C. Foster songs that I brought to Antiques Roadshow in 2004, which, if I remember correctly, was the impetus for the first Pacific Northwest HHW gathering. ;D
-
Now I want enchiladas. And posts.
-
This, my friends, is really irritating. Thirty minutes to the notes. To it.
-
Good evening!
-
I have returned from MARY POPPINS.
-
It was.......... long.
-
The first act was 85 minutes and the second act was 55 minutes.
-
George, do you know Harry Turpin?
-
I'm watching Antiques Roadshow.
-
He was incredible as Bert.
-
George, do you know Harry Turpin?
I don't.
-
And, yes, he did dance up the wall and then danced upside down across the proscenium.
-
He was incredible as Bert.
Nice!
-
And, of course, Mary did fly - several times.
-
And, of course, Mary did fly - several times.
Cool! Did anyone fly into the scenery?
;)
-
I quite love the movie, and I didn't see much need for a lot of the things that were added.
-
Like the toys that come to life.
-
And I like "Let's Go Fly A Kite" better as an ending.
-
Like the toys that come to life.
Maybe that's to make up for them not being able to jump into the sidewalk in real life.
;)

I have heard that explanation, but they still do "It's A Jolly Holiday"
-
I just think the stage production is much darker than the film.
-
I just think the stage production is much darker than the film.
I'd read that that was deliberate.
-
I have never read the books. Maybe they are darker, as well.
-
I would really like to know what Mr. Sherman thinks of the stage play.
-
It is nearly a perfect film, it just seems wrong to taint the memory.
-
Perhaps I'm being to dramatic about it.
-
Dark or light, I still prefer the movie ending.
-
I saw no reason to have Mary get killed.
Kidding!!
-
I saw no reason to have Mary get killed.
Kidding!!
Maybe that's what will happen in the new sequel.
-
:))
-
Still, a good production, but much too long.
-
I get to sleep in tomorrow morning. I have NO plans for the day.
-
That will be nice.
-
They were selling raffle tickets at intermission, and the lady who sold me mine said, " I loved you in SECOND SAMUEL."

That's great!

Did your sister come over to your folks for enchiladas?
