Well, you've read the notes, the notes were a whiter shade of pale, and now it is time for you to post until the whiter shade of pale cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: FANE!
-
First post before TCB!
;)
-
Well, this is pretty cool! There's a new publication (both print and on-line) here in Olympia called: http://olyarts.org/ (http://olyarts.org/). They have a Guide to Olympia Theaters (http://olyarts.org/theaters-olympia/) section, and Theater Artists Olympia (http://olyarts.org/2016/01/28/theater-artists-olympia/) is listed! :D
-
And now, I must go to bed. 8)
-
And I must wake up! Coffee time!
-
I haven't listened to a Whiter Shade of Pake in years, but I always enjoyed hearing it. Niw I must seek it out whilst I think of the TOD
-
I fell down when I was walking out of the house for work yesterday and my back us still aching me
-
I took some pain reliever last night and fell asleep but now I am achy again
-
Vibes for Janes friend
-
And continued prayers and vibes for TCB's Sandy
-
I took some pain reliever last night and fell asleep but now I am achy again
Feel-better soon. Can you stay home today?
-
First post after FJL, after Vixmom, after FJL, after George, after BK!
-
Why am I wide awake?
-
Greetings, 0 Guests!
-
Good morning, all.
-
Good morning, all!
-
Vixmom, be careful!!!
And enjoy some more pain relievers and feel better!
-
Greetings 16 Guests over the entire site.
-
Maybe it's the humidity, heat, my frame of mind, but i did not want to get out of bed this morning.
-
DR TCB, it's nice to see you here when I am for a change.
-
I have no real news: Guys and Dolls most of the day, Eric is coming by for more MIRANDA episodes, and that's my day.
-
DR Elmore, it is good to see you, my friend.
-
Don't have much real news here, either. Today's an indoor work day. Yesterday I cleared more weeds and brush than I care to remember in one area of the lot, so at least with rain and possible storms today, I'm absolved from working outdoors.
-
Today is going to be a very lazy day.
-
Looking to the weekend:
Friends of mine are doing [title of show] which opens tomorrow evening, and normally I'd be there for the opening but I'm committed to attending a Footloose at another theater. So, probably Saturday evening for [title].
Saturday morning, another book sale. It's one that often attracts decent donations of music, so I'll be making the effort to be there at the opening bell this time.
-
And the word of the day is: FANE!
(FANE) I'm gonna make it to heaven,
I'm gonna learn how to fly.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Good but somewhat odd trip to Louisville so far.
-
They came to install the cable and Internet connection yesterday and managed to take out the incoming calls. So anyone trying to reach Mom on her birthday got no answer.
-
Two!

They came to install the cable and Internet connection yesterday and managed to take out the incoming calls. So anyone trying to reach Mom on her birthday got no answer.
Oh, no.
-
TCB, ice cream knows my name, too.
-
DR ChasSmith, you are on my list for the reading. DR Ginny, I am sorry that Richard's vision has canceled your trip.
I have a memory that he had a problem with Bell's Palsy in either high school or college.
-
And calls me. Collect.

I would love to be there but the financial larder is empty now. I can't buy a ticket with fig jam, it seems.
-
TOD in reverse. I heard our symphony do a pops concert of ABBA music. I couldn't get out of the concert hall fast enough.
-
DR Elmore, it is good to see you, my friend.
I wish you could come in for this August 1 event, but I regard it less as a show and more a test. It's a reading: they will sit in chairs, read the script and sing through the score. It could be good, it could be disastrous, but we will learn things from it and hopefully the audience will enjoy it and have positive criticism.
When we get - if ever! - a real production, then I would love for you to be there.
-
Thursday is opening night for ON GOLDEN POND. The sooner we open, the sooner we get this show OVER!!!
It will be okay. AND tickets are selling like hotcakes (not Lisa Douglas' hotcakes)....and we didn't spend a LOT of money....so it should be good for the bottom line.
-
Thursday tonight, or Thursday next week, DR Jrand65?
-
I shall have to think about the TOD:
Not a group....but I liked the orchestra on Little Peggy March's song "I Will Follow Him"...the producers Hugo & Luigi on RCA Victor used a lot of orchestra arrangements on their singles.....
-
I love readings. All caveats accepted and understood. I just don't get the chance to get to many. Especially looking forward to this one, DR Elmore.
-
Continued vibes for RICHARD.
Congrats to the niece of DR GINNY on her new appointment!
Vibes for the friend of DR JANE.
Also, I am thinking about NICKY in the waning days before his procedure.....
-
Indiana Governor Mike Pence is being touted by many as the VP pick for old Orange Face......who will make his announcement tomorrow at 11 a.m.
If MP is going to run for re-election as Governor, he has to file all of his papers by Noon tomorrow.....so it seems all very faux dramatic.....
Big Crybaby Quitter and Empty Tin Can Evan Bayh is now in the race for Senator.....he quit several years ago after his second senate term. His FIRST vote as a Senator was to NOT impeach old Hot Pants Clinton back in the day.....he is an idiot....he now has all the business, lobby, and special interests he needs to end up a very rich man after a few more senate terms. Too bad he will probably be elected....
-
Elmore, thank you for giving the igmo on Facebook an intelligent response to his not liking the lyric "beguiled again." It's a gorgeous lyric that really tells a lot about Vera. Of course, some would have all lyrics coming from the minds and mouths of people just as imbecilic as they are.
-
Opening night vibes for JRand and company.
-
TOD:
I'm sure there's a lot of old rock songs with big symphony sounds that I love, but of course, I can't think of any right now. The only thing that comes to mind is that I always loved all the violins in "Eleanor Rigby". And, of course, Phil Spector's Christmas album with his wall-of-sound is wonderful, but I'm not sure if that really qualifies.
-
I've been working on "If I Were A Bell." When I was 5 or 6 and it was on the Hit Parade, I thought it was a stupid song. Now I think it's a masterpiece.
-
George and TCB, thanks for the vibes.
-
George, I knew you really were not upset , which is why your reaction was funny :)
-
Vibes for Janes friend
Thank you, and vibes for your back.
-
They came to install the cable and Internet connection yesterday and managed to take out the incoming calls. So anyone trying to reach Mom on her birthday got no answer.
Of all days for that to happen.
-

You are most welcome. I spend too much time on Facebook marveling at the stupidity of some people posting on those cast recording sites or wondering whatever happened to peoples' sense of humor. Irony and sarcasm are elusive critters.

Thank you Jrand .
Theven family just went through through this with their beloved daughter in-law, except hers was not found early. She also needed a double masectomy. Today she is doing well.
-
Today my best girlfriend since 9th grade and her husband, who quickly became a good friend, are coming from Los Angeles to visit us.
-
Thanks to DR JANE and DR JOHN G for the Opening Night vibes.....I still have some cards to write.
-
Thursday morning greetings! Home all day today, catching up on paperwork and magazines and contemplating a big rearrangement of my Momcave.
-
Thank you to DRs Vixmom, TCB, and JRand for the nice comments about niece Amy's move to Springboro. I'm excited to have 2 more great nephews and our only great niece within hugging distance. And I imagine their maternal grandmother is beside herself!

Vibes for DR Jane's friend!

Vibes for DR Vixmom - hope your back feels better today! Mary Linda is nursing a sore hip and hoping for some relief before her flight to London tomorrow evening for a week's business trip.

Haircut is done. I think I'll eat in a bit, then pick up packages, then rehearse, then relax.

Okay, I have to admit that this actually happened on Monday and I just noticed that John had reached a millstone/milestone/plateau, but it had to be preserved, even if it needed to be "photo-shopped" so that the moment could be preserved:
Congrats, John!! :D

Another photo when Annette lived across the street from MR BK in the now demolished house.....she and her brothers Joey & Mike are polishing her new T-Bird - before she had it painted purple.

Topic of the Day:
I had never heard/heard of Whiter Shade of Pale or Procol Harum. But the first group that I thought of when BK put the topic in his notes was Electric Light Orchestra (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bjPqsDU0j2I&index=2&list=PLn9DJh4Og977v7dTCt80Lj9aZjzohFvni). Then I read John's ABBA comment and I thought, yes...them, too! (But I would probably sit through the whole concert.)
-
"If I Were A Bell" is finished. On to "My Time of Day!"
-
Well, this is pretty darned cool: Nintendo announces NES Classic Edition, launching this fall (http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/games/nintendo-announces-nes-classic-edition-launching-this-fall/ar-BBukuDT)!

And the Emmy nominees are...

We were underwhelmed with Gooding's portrayal of Simpson.
-
Everything Old Is New Again.
-
Congrats to DR JOHNG on his millstone.
-
I shall soon be off to the the-yatur for our opening night.
Pray for Rosemary's Baby.
An email from the set designer suggested several changes.....where was the email since Monday? Why is it coming on Opening Night?
-
Had my usual chopped salad and a bagel and that's that for today. But, I don't think I can get in a jog tonight unless it's very late after movie night. But I've been doing it every day for three weeks, seven days a week, so maybe a day off isn't such a bad thing.
-
TOD:
Agree about "A Whiter Shade of Pale"
I also love Emerson, Lake and Palmer's "Brain Salad Surgery" album, especially Karn Evil No. 9
IIRC, Richard Harris' albums featured orchestral accompaniment.
-
DR ChasSmith, you are on my list for the reading. DR Ginny, I am sorry that Richard's vision has canceled your trip.
I have a memory that he had a problem with Bell's Palsy in either high school or college.
You are correct, DR Elmore - Richard had Bell's palsy as a teenager and received treatment from an old-school osteopath. He had it again about 20 years ago and went to his chiropractor, who he credits with preventing any permanent facial disfiguring. Since that's a problem with the 6th cranial nerve and his current issue they say is with the 4th, he's seeing the same chiropractor now, in addition to the opthalmologist.
-
I've just come across a GUYS & DOLLS orchestration problem that has me stymied!
-
Tell! :)
-
And we just got the rehearsal schedule for Moonshine and Mistletoe! I guess it's really happening.
-
!!!! 4 !!!!
-
Tell! :)
Nothing to tell. I'm waiting for a PM from a professional flautist for some advice.
-
Had fun rehearsals. First Juliana - neither she nor our musical director had a clew as to what I've been up to with arranging the song she's doing it. Happy to say they both absolutely loved the arrangement. It's a corny song the way it's usually done and I took all the damn corn out of it and while it's completely true to the song, I just made it feel fresher and newer, which is what I love to do.
-
Then JoAnne Worley was here and she was, as always, hilarious and I just adore her.
-
I suspect that "My Time of Day" was orchestrated a step or so higher than ut is in the rental materials, and it takes the flute really low for four bars. I needed to ask John Blanchard, who played flute on the incidental music for "Invitation to A March" on UNSUNG SONDHEIM, for some advice. I had two big problems with this number.
-
Hello!
-
Summer is definitely here! Hot and humid is the theme for several days.

I love that my phone is connected to the internet again.
-
The cell waiting parking lot in Portland is in a great spot. The plane are practically landing in front of us.
-
Well, I'm off to a union meetin'. I'm an alternate on the negotiating team, so I'll just observe. I don't know how long it'll take, though.
Be back later.
-
Thank you, George and JRand.
-
Have we heard from Jeanne lately?
-
Movie night is starting late, thanks to bad traffic.
-
I have hit page 500 in my novel and don't have the concentration to finish the last 50 pages.

Here's the fig tart with chocolate ganache I made yesterday for Mom's birthday. It needs whipped cream, but was otherwise lovely.
-
Cable and internet have been successfully installed in my parents' house. They can now join the 21st century.
-
And I can now post from their post.
-
They are both slowing down, but they managed to work four hours at a blood drive today. Bless them.
-
The trip has been nice so far. We've had some rainy weather, but that has only increased the number of lightning bugs I saw tonight. More than I've seen in years. Beautiful sight.
-
Let's move on...
-
Five!
-
Hello, BK.
-
Hello, 1 guest.
-
What's your favorite flavor of ice cream.
-
Today is supposedly National Ice Cream Day.
-
I missed out on all the quiescently frozen confections with which to celebrate.
-
Pardon the big words I apply. I was an English major at CCNY.
-
Name that tume, KevinH.
-
Hello, I must be going.
-
OMG. That tart. :)
-
Do you get any Skyline in Louisville, DR John G.?
I hope I didn't already ask that. I thought of it earlier.
-
I haven't had time for Skyline -- yet. I'm hoping it will happen.
-
Thanks, ChasSmith. It was a bit of work. But I enjoyed making it -- and eating it.
-
BK, is there a theme to this year's ALS fundraiser?
-
Good night, all.
-

Thank you, Jack, for thinking about Nicky.

I hope that opening night of ON GOLDEN POND was a big success.

The trip has been nice so far. We've had some rainy weather, but that has only increased the number of lightning bugs I saw tonight. More than I've seen in years. Beautiful sight.
I miss the lightning bugs.

We had them in New Jersey.

I had never seen them on the west coast.
-
I had never seen them on the west coast.
Really? I thought they were everywhere
-
80 people dead! Will this madness never end?

-
I did my duty and ate ice cream today for National Ice Cream Day.
-
Hell, I would have eaten ice cream if it had been National Tamale Day.
-
I had never seen them on the west coast.
Really? I thought they were everywhere
Nope.

Six
-
How is my friend, Debby?
-
Tomorrow is Friday?

Time to switch computers.

Hi everyone. Stopping in for a quick update. The DD's are doing fine. They are both out in the apartment, and DD Ben tells the pup, Leo, when he's too close. Leo gets the picture and continues to run around while DD Ben watches him. I'm working on productions of Footloose and Xanadu are having quite a fun time with both.
-
My DN (dear niece) and I are heading to SoCal in August. DN hasn't never been to LA, so we'll hit all the important places - Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Venice Beach, etc and hopefully meet up with the esteemed bk at some point. We'll visit the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios, see Grey Gardens with Betty Buckley and Rachel York and then head to Disneyland for a day to see all the new stuff. One day at Disneyland is about all I can handle during the summer!
-
And at the moment, I'm listening to O Brother - The musical which is quite odd. And that's all I'm saying about THAT!
-

PAGE SEVEN DANCE!!

PAGE SEVEN DANCE!!
The Gavotte.
-
The Gavotte.
The Gavotte will always remind me of "My Fair Lady," which reminds me of a series of books that I only recently found out about: The Eliza Doolittle & Henry Higgins Mysteries! No, really! The first was Wouldn't It Be Deadly (https://www.amazon.com/dp/1250049350/), and the second in the series is Move Your Blooming Corpse (https://www.amazon.com/dp/1250049369/). They sound like fun!
-
Evidently, there's supposed to be a third called, "Get Me to the Grave on Time," and a fourth as yet untitled, but those aren't available, yet.
-
Good night, George!
-
Good night, Tom!
-
Well, this sucks. My wi-fi just stopped working. I'm on my phone using my data, but it's like all of a sudden my modem decided to have a brain fart. It's fairly new, so I don't think it's dying. I hope it's just something that'll fix itself by the morning. We'll see. :-\
-
If it's not back up by the time I go to bed, I'll "power cycle" it. That usually works.
-
And now, my cell phone battery is dying, so I must go.
Good night.
-
My wi-fi is back up and running! Hoo and Ray! But I'm still going to bed. 8)
-
Have a good Friday, all!
