Well, you've read the notes, the notes did not play Pokemon Go, and now it is time for you to post until the PokeMOOn cows come home.

Did we already know about THE BRAIN FROM PLANET X in November?  Is this the 10th anniversary?  Where will you be doing it?  When in November?

From last night...
I don't know that last title.

It's three separate movies (http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/dvd-criterion-collection-the-qatsi-trilogy/25227331?ean=0715515100618) with scores by Philip Glass.  Here's the overview on B&N's site:
Quote
Beginning in the early 1980s, avant-garde director Godfrey Reggio launched an unusual, critically-acclaimed documentary series known as the Qatsi trilogy. The first installment, Koyaanisqatsi (1983), has a title that means "life in turmoil" in Hopi; accordingly, the movie contrasts images of the harmony present in nature with the violent disruption that takes place when civilization rears its head. Its follow-up, the 1988 Powaqaatsi, uses a similar framework and approach that shows how Third World cultures continue to be exploited by more modernized societies. The third and final installment, 2002's Naqoyqatsi, examines the complex impact of technology on civilizaton, with dozens of preexisting images that Reggio digitally and optically alters, essentially implying that technology has become part and parcel of early 21st century culture in lieu of disrupting it. All three films appear in this box set from the Criterion Collection.

TCB, I don't have a date yet, just that we've talked about November.  Yes, it's the 10th anniversary of The Brain, which actually opened on my birthday back in 2006.  This will be a staged concert at LACC that will benefit the Theatre Academy.

I'm watching "Avanti!" on MGMHD.  I've never seen it before, but like "Same Time Next Year," it deals with an annual affair. ;)

I looked it up on Amazon and found the listing for the soundtrack (https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B004784CU0/)...for only $450! :o

TOD - Here, with his permission, is what my son wrote last week on Facebook about the current craze:

"As a millennial who didn't own a Game Boy in the '90s and doesn't own a smartphone now, I've felt a certain amount of schadenfreude this week, watching the chaos swirl around Pokemon Go: a dead body discovered, people targeted for mugging, traffic accidents, Koffing appearing in the Holocaust Museum, Westboro not-Baptist not-Church being designated as a gym and their attempts to co-opt Jigglypuff for counter-propaganda, and many more. This is engrossing, even for me as an observer, because it hits two of our generation's nostalgia buttons. Pokemon nostalgia is obvious enough, but also virtual/augmented reality nostalgia mixed with wish fulfillment: all through the '90s, VR/AR was perpetually a few years away and heavily hyped (finally reaching its apotheosis with The Matrix), but computer hardware wasn't up to the task yet. Now, it is. I don't begrudge anyone playing, since we really need some light-hearted, nostalgic relief from the violence, hate, political sclerosis, and economic dysfunction. Be safe, be respectful, catch 'em all, and come back to reality inspired to create real solutions to real problems."

I love, love, love the last sentence, which he predicted when he wrote it.

TOD:

I get way to addicted to video games. It was the same in the beginning with Pac Man and Asteroids. Then more recently Mafia Wars.

What a waste of time.

I am now addicted to evil level Sudoku puzzles online. Ugh.

Minesweeper
Paratrooper
Tretris
These were all games I just played on my computer, so they weren't actually video games, but I think they still count. I enjoyed them, but I never got addicted, thank goodness.

Pong....but other than that nada.

I think the current craze is dumb.....and this "it's getting people together" and "getting people outside..." crap is just that.

It's also causing a lot or problems for small businesses, etc, who were made STOPS and GYMS without their permission.....

Back from the dentist, where the whitening went even better than the Doc or I thought it would.  We're going to do the two veneers I need tomorrow.  (Those are to protect the two front teeth that have tiny chips and a crack.)  Plus one tiny filling needs to be replaced in order to match.

The cost for this ... well, don't even ask.  And the time it takes to do it?  Lordy.  The appointment is 11:45 AM tomorrow, but I'll be there, in and out of the chair as they adjust veneer shades or whatever the HELL they do, till 4:00 or 5:00 in the PM.

I don't know from this Pokeman thing, but I  have heard that the church has Pokemans or such as on the property.

I don't think much of putting this kind of thing on private property. If anyone sets off the alarm catching Pokemans, I am the one who has to put on pants and answer the alarm 24/7.

Made some chicken stroganoff - but was very careful with the pasta - normally I'd make six ounces but I used my measuring cup and did two cups of pasta - that's 400 calories.  400 for the two chicken breasts, and about three hundred more for the other ingredients so around eleven hundred and I just jogged some of that off.

Topic of the Day:

I only had a Super Nintendo game console and a Game Boy.  The Super Nintendo games that I can remember having were Super Mario Brothers, Yoshi's Island, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Donkey Kong Country, and the 3-pack of Mario Brothers 1-3 (originally for the original Nintendo, but in a Super Nintendo cartridge).  The Game Boy games that I can remember are a couple of Wario Land games, and a 2-cartridge (can play with a friend) The Legend of Zelda's Oracle of Seasons and Oracle of Ages.  I know there were others, but I can't remember them.

As for games on my computer:  Solitaire, Freecell, Spider Solitaire, Mahjongg, Tetris, Pinball, things like that. :)

I hope it won't be a messy battle. It shouldn't be with my dad, but my mom might have other ideas.

It was the first time I have been to this particular theatre in about a year.... They have revamped the theatres with recliners... There are only about a third as many rows and may half as many seats as there used to be....but it was very comfy.

I was very glad we arrived there early. We snagged perfect seats. Center center ( I went with one of my work mates)   Those that came sooner to showtime were stuck in the front row seats which must have been horrendous

The boss bought lunch from a local sandwich shop, the birthday girl's choice.  It has wonderful sandwiches and salads.  I had their roasted pear salad, which is mesclun greens, cranberries, glazed wAlnuts, crumbled Gorgonzola  , roasted pears with a raspberry vinergarette dressing

They must have a whole pear in their, albeit cut into salad size chunks and there is a lovely amount  of all the ingredients so you can have a little  of everything in each bite

Some years ago when in Saschatawn for our niece's   wedding , we had the most wonderful toast in the hotel restaurant.  It was thick sliced and as a result you got both the lovely crunch and nice soft interior ... We waxed  rapturous over this toast ordering extra slices and telling the waiter (who clearly thought we were mad) how amazing it was and asking if it was a specialty of that hotel....
