Well, you've read the notes, the notes were one of THOSE notes, and now it is time for you to post until one of THOSE cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: VATIC!
-
Congrats BK on your casting of Bill Hayes and Ilene Graff! Sounds like they'll be great evenings...as usual.
-
And it would be great (for us fans, at least) if the 10th anniversary BRAIN could be recorded. ;D

Congrats from here in New York, too!

Hospital (or is it The Hospital?)
-
Good morning, all!
-
Great news about Bill Hayes! I think I once had an album of his. Disney songs? Kern?
I met him 1998 or so, when he was the older man in the Kenndy Center's production of WHERE'S CHARLEY? He was quite friendly and very good in the show. He played opposite Sally Ann Howes.
-
Rehearsal at noon. I have some work here before that,
-
How about Robert Yacko as Fred?
-
Good morning.
-
Good morning, DR Laura!
-
Good morning, all.
-
From yesterday:
And the word of the day is: CHIASMUS!
All day I saw this, and all day I thought vixmom was addressing me.
-
So, one last whole ME day until...Sunday, I think.
I must use it wisely and well.
Or is that redundant?
Am I just saying the same thing twice?
-
Well....there was a lot of singing going on last night....and a lot of not so hot acting....it's going to be a long rehearsal period.....
-
And there are a lot of people in this show I don't really look forward to spending time with....I need to find a hiding spot for the time between scenes....
-
MR BK is bizzy to the max. Congrats on the work!
-

Sounds like my day, but DR JRand65, you have more than one week! I don't.
-
DR Jrand65, very sorry (not to mention embarrassed) for the delay, but I'll be putting those long-promised '1776' program reproductions in the mail to you on Thursday.
I changed the way I'm doing them for the better -- AND -- thanks to the delay, I'm able to add one fun extra thing which I only recently figured out how to do.
-
TOD:
I liked everything George C. Scott did.
I was lucky enough to see him on Broadway in THE BOYS OF SUMMER with John Cullum.
-
The editing work on GENTLEMEN, BE SEATED! is finished. One more project off my desk.
-
Good morning.
-
I am off to rehearsal!
-
LOL you are right DR ELMORE.
Thanks DR CHAS SMITH, we don't open until the week of August 8, so there is no rush.
-
Of course, I hadn't studied my script enough, and I had a line buried in the middle of Scene Five. I was working without my book....so everything stopped a moment....
I will be READY tonight for sure!!!!
Go ahead, Sam....it sounds lively as hell up there!
-
Tuesday morning greetings! I woke up about 5:30 and couldn't go back to sleep. After reading for an hour or so, I dozed in my recliner until about 8:30.
-
Combining yesterday's and today's TODs:
Sean Connery -- anything and everything.
George C. Scott -- anything and everything.
I generally love the films in which each left his mark, as opposed to the couple of stinkers they might have appeared in. But there are certain actors I can watch in just about anything, and these are two of them.
Michelle Pfeiffer -- It's funny, but here's an actress who has never appeared on my radar. My first awareness of her was in THE WITCHES OF EASTWICK in 1987. I've since seen some of her earlier and later films, but I never distinctly remember her. I'm looking at her filmography as I write this, and there are a couple of famous movies I never saw. But even those I did ..... I swear I never remember she's the gal in SCARFACE or Velma in HAIRSPRAY. I haven't yet watched THE FABULOUS BAKER BOYS, but I have it here and I'm kind of assuming that one's going to put her more on the map for me.
-
Never assume DR CHAS SMITH.......

Good morning again. It was a pretty day on the mountain.

Wonderful pictures, Laura!
-
Topic of the Day:
Dr. Strangelove
They Might Be Giants
I think that those are the only movies of his that I've seen. :-\
-
Very nice DR LAURA.
-
Excellent photos, Laura!

I'm wondering if today will the day in which BK tells us what he REALLY thinks about Stanley Donen's "Movie Movie".
-
It bores me, too.
-
I like one line GCS says in "Movie, Movie"....when he is talking about the stage show that he is doing.....he says: "Give me a big spotlight and baby blue behind....."
-
I'm up, I'm up - got eight hours of sleep, did a two-and-a-half mile jog, had a salad and no bread, picked up a package, and am getting ready for rehearsal. Here's the link to the podcast about The First Nudie Musical. I won't have time to listen until much later tonight.

There are so many NON-actors in this particular show that I am doing....it is sort of painful to be onstage with them.....as is often the case, it's the NON-actors who think they need to do BIG acting.....
It's like begin on a stage full of Normans from my last play....
-
I shall also listen later this evening. I am on my way to Philadelphia ca. 1776.
-
I'll listen tonight for sure.
-
I am home from a good day. The cast is pretty solid with the music now, and our two professional children - bright as button and too smart and talented for their own good - came in for the last hour. They are just adorale and picked up the music really quickly.
Tomorrow, no music: script work.
-
Good morning again. It was a pretty day on the mountain.

Beautiful! I no longer rise early to watch sunrises, and you are on the mountain by then.

If I'm up to see a sunrise, it's because I haven't gone to bed yet. ;)

;D
In Ashland I could see if the sunrise was worth getting out of bed or not, and often after watching it I returned to bed and sleep.

I've only listened to the first half hour (of the 2-hour podcast), but it's an absolute love letter! They not only get it, but they analyze it with knowledge and experience of movie making. They really love the movie! :D
-
I stopped when BK's phone interview started. I'll pick up at that point a little later. I'm leaving work now and going to my parents' house. A friend of theirs that they met in the late 60s in Germany is visiting from Spokane. They've kept in contact all these years and she visits a couple of times a year. So, I'll go visit her.
Be back later.
-
Hello!
-
Page 2? Uh oh.
-
Nice photos, DR Laura!
-
It was a couple of degrees cooler today.
-
Congrats on your casting news, BK!
-
I'm watching Doc Martin. I think it's an episode I haven't seen before.
-
There was a nice obituary of Marni Nixon in today's Washington Post.
-
4 more to page 3.
-
3.....
-
2......
-
1....
-
Oops! I miscounted.
-
Page 3!
-
I was wrong. I did see this episode of Doc Martin before. But it's still worth watching.
-
Where is everybody?
-
I am off to bed.
-

They are IMHO.😊
-
We are about to watch THE ROOM.
-
We are about to watch THE ROOM.
That's my book group's August selection. On the 18th, we'll have a potluck dinner and watch the movie together.
-
Watched THE RUSSIA HOUSE straight through and loved it.
-
Now I'm 35 minutes into the FIRST NUDIE podcast, and it's good -- these people are no dummies. It looks to be close to two hours long, though, so I'll have to finish it tomorrow because the sandman has been seductively calling my name.
-
Apparently there is someone rounding up idiots and bribing them to call me at work
-
Vixdad I I watched one of his birthday presents tonight the Criterion bluray of Rashoman
-
And. Now I am very tired
-
I am not sure I can get us to page 4
-
Let alone page five
-
Laura those were beautiful pictures
-
Thank you for the beautiful sunsets
-
And zero sipers
-
Vibes for the moonshine and mistletoe team
-
I so wish I could be there
-
Coping vibes for Jack
-
My apologies Jack but I am afraid I have forgotten which role you have in 1776
-
Btw Chas thank you for telling me about the criterion sale
-
Are we anywhere near page four?
-
I will have to listen to the nudie podcast another night
-
I am falling asleep
-
Long rehearsal day but went very well. Had an omelet and English muffin for dinner, so about 1000 calories for the day.
-
Page three? Really?
-
REALLY?
-
I should think we need a frenzy right about now. REALLY.
-
Page four? Really?
-
We are about to watch THE ROOM.
That's my book group's August selection. On the 18th, we'll have a potluck dinner and watch the movie together.
Enjoy both. I won'the comment on the movie.
-
Where in tarnation IS everyone?
-
Good evening!
-
Hmmm, barely page four.
-
Not a good sign.
-
But it is better than page three at 10:30 pm.
-
Page six is better than page four.
-
Hello, 0 Kimlets!
-
Hello, 0 Guests.
-
I will have to watch the Nudie podcast on Thursday or Friday.
-
Ironic timing.
-
I just re-watched THE FIRST NUDIE MUSICAL this past weekend.
-
It is always a pleasure.
-
That Kimmel kid had some great comic timing.
-
I wonder whatever happened to him.
-
I have never watched the film with the commentary.
-
I will have to do that next time.
-
Today I was going to watch "something" on Roku.
-
But I couldn't figure out what to watch.
-
I didn't feel like watching any episodes of THE FLASH or CHUCK.
-
I couldn't think of a movie I wanted to watch.
-
So, I ended up watching some movie blooper reel.
-
The clips ranged mainly from the 30's to the 50's, with a couple of Bob Hope clips from the 60's.
-
Most of the clips I had seen before, in one blooper reel or another.
-
Judging from the number of clips shown, it seemed to be a tie for most blown lines between Gary Cooper and Ronald Reagan.
-
Although James Cagney had his fair share.
-
Still, there were some clips that were new to me.
-
And a couple made me laugh out loud.
-
Five
-
The whole thing was just a little over an hour long.
-
I have a seven day rental on it, so I may watch again before the time is up.
-
Today I finally picked up my watch from the jeweler.
-
It actually turned out to cost about $48.00 instead of $75.00.
-
Then I went grocery shopping, at not one, but two Safeway stores.
-
There were some cookies for Nicky that my Safeway never seems to carry any longer.
-
So, since I had to pick up my watch anyway, I went to the Safeway that is only a block away from the jeweler.
-
Both the jeweler and the Safeway are in the neighborhood where I grew up.
-
The jeweler is located in the space that was the corner grocer when I was in grade school.
-
We lived a block away from the store.
-
Naturally, when the corner grocer was still there, we had no Safeway store.
-
It is strange to go down 26th Street, the shopping block.
-
The only business that still exists there, is the bowling alley.
-
I was going to go in to the bowling alley to look around, but it is apparently not ADA accessible.
-
There are two entrances to the bowling alley, but they both had stairs leading into the business.
-
Can a bowling alley be grandfathered?
-
Maybe there is another entrance around back in the "real" alley, but I didn't bother to go looking for it.
-
Henry's Bakery is long gone.
-
I loved Henry's.
-
They made these incredible shortbread cookies with a large chocolate drop on top and crushed almonds on the sides.
-
Yum. I can still remember how they tasted.
-
Next to Henry's was Tony's Barber Shop where I had to go for my crewcut.
-
Next to that was the Proctor Dime Store.
-
And next to them was the drug store and gift shop.
-
If the drug store had a name, which I am sure they did; I don't remember it.
-
I suppose it could have been called Proctor Drug, but that seems a bit obvious.
-
The entire neighborhood is called the Proctor District.
-
The other side of the street is less memorable.
-
There was Bell's Bakery, which was never as good as Henry's.
-
Six
-
Next to them was the Ice Creamery. I was not allowed to go in there without my mom or my sister, because that was where the hoods hung out.
-
Then next to the Ice Creamery was the Family Tavern.
-
In spite of the name, I was never allowed in there.
-
Next was some snooty woman's clothing store, and on the corner was Soine's Shoe Store where I got all of my tennis shoes.
-
And that is your tour of the 26th street shopping block.
-
The shops and stores on Proctor were not as exciting.
-
It actually turned out to cost about $48.00 instead of $75.00.
That's great!
-
I will need to go to bed early tonight.
-
I have a meeting tomorrow at work with a new rep, and it's earlier than I want to be there. ::)
;)
-
But be there, I must.
-
I'm listening to BK's interview.
-
Informative and entertaining, as well as entertaining and informative.
-
I have a meeting tomorrow at work with a new rep, and it's earlier than I want to be there. ::)
;)
Why can't you set the time for the meeting?
