Wednesday morning afternoon greetings!  I managed to sleep until after 8, which was very nice.  Took Richard for his chiropractor appointment and some other errands.  Did a couple of household chores when we got home, finished the newspaper, and - blam! - it's after noon.  Contemplating lunch and the rest of my day...

In other news, I've been cleaning up even more wrong notes and lousy Finale enharmonics from this GYPSY book in addition to those I'd found previously.

(Some of the latter were so bad I couldn't comprehend what a chord was -- and jeez, I'm kind of familiar with how these songs sound.)

Would you expound upon, please, any variation of what you believe has gone to hell in a hand basket?  There are SO MANY THINGS that I feel fit this particular bill.

What is one of your favorites?

I found photos of all of the historical characters and I am going to put them on the slides with the actors portraying the role.

I got the idea from the ENCORES program that DR VIXMOM sent me.....we have a cast of 30.....THIRTY!!!!

So there will not be information to read on each slide.....

An old classmate is in Portland visiting her sons so we met up for lunch.  It was nice and, on the recommendation of the one son & his girlfriend, we went to a casual vegetarian restaurant.  Next time I want what Keith had.  I had meant to ask if there was a different vegetable besides brussels sprouts and forgot.  Apparently I missed that there was broccoli or I would have requested a switch.  The dressing on my salad was too spicy for me but the meal was healthy.

I usually like Tyler. I was surprised to learn that she hates Shakespeare. It shows in this book, which is creaky, more dated than Shakespeare's play, and actually kinda creepy.

You know what's sad?  When a couple of the reed and brass players do a very decent job of reading and playing their books, but you can just tell that - even though they're very nearly in most of our own age brackets - they apparently did NOT grow up listening to, say, the Merman original cast recording.  Or they'd KNOW, without having it drilled into them, which bars their various licks in the Overture and all go, and how they should sound.

Except when I am playing a role that requires the actor to be in a chair.

There's been a security update available - I hate doing them because it always does something screwy and the computer takes forever to load everything - but I decided to do it.  Naturally it was retarded as always.  My entire desktop's contents disappeared but the computer wouldn't shut off.  I finally had to shut it off manually and restart - it took about fifteen minutes to fully load everything, and of course it didn't do the update.  I'm done with this crap.  I will have them call me tomorrow and be on the phone when I try it.

But now I am being pushed to audition for Van Helsing in DRACULA.

And that is when I feel weird doing the role.

In SECOND SAMUEL, I used the fact that he was stuck in a wheelchair as one of the reasons for his bigotry.

It was a back story I could make work for the character.

Actually one audience member ask me one day if I was so hateful because I was in the wheelchair.

But for Van Helsing, that is harder to find the back story.

I am the most ignorant person in the world when it comes to trying to hook up a piece of electronic equipment.

I thought I was.  I always ask a friend who's savvy to help me and I buy them dinner.

That friend sued me.

I don't know.  I always wanted to do DRACULA, but I always wanted to play Dracula, not Van Helsing.

I know that, in his time, Bela Lugosi was considered a sensual vampire.

I could never see it.  To me, he was more camp than sensual.

Maybe I saw too many of the lesser Lugosi films at the same time that I saw DRACULA.

I can still remember the first times I saw DRACULA, FRANKENSTEIN, and the others.

Page five?  Really?  When did the expression mic drop become the go-to expression for every single post on the Internet,  I know it came about twenty-five years ago, but NO ONE has used it in ages and suddenly it's "the" expression.

My sister and I watched all of those films.

Those films all seemed so ancient, probably because the prints were in such bad shape.
