Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of Kritzerland at Sterling's 69, and now it is time for you to post until the sixty-nine cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: SPINDRIFT!
-
First post after BK!
-
George is apparently not in bed.
-
I am waiting for my pain pills to kick in, so I can go back to bed.
-
Actually I am in bed, but in a bit of pain at the moment.
-
I am so tired, I hope these pills work quickly.
-
The room at The Mirage is very nice and the staff is friendly.

Actually I am in bed, but in a bit of pain at the moment.

Hard to Be Diva from Starmites sung by Sharon McNight
-
Good morning!
TOD
The first ones that came to mind were
The song that goes like this from Spamalot
ALittle Priest from Sweeney Todd
-
I guess they're not really weird. But they are funny and the lyrics are different
-
Which I guess applies to almost everything from Avenue Q
-
Vibes to TCB for a good time!
-
BK - congrats on the show going so well!!!
-
TOD: Ones that come right to mind include
What's New at the Zoo from Do-Re-Mi
Ready to Settle from High Fidelity
The Lonely Goatherd from the Sound of Music
-
Good morning, all!
-
It was not a good night at all. I will be groggy all day.
The left leg was not happy, I could not get to sleep so I was not happy. I finally nodded off and had some weird dream about a family death, wake, whatever, and my mother was behaving like a fishwife in a hotel or apartment hallway. Then I was awake forever, brooding over a situation, and slept fitfully the rest of the night, When I woke I was dreaming about a Michel Tremblay play.
-
DR Kevin H, great photo of you and our DR TCB. How's the tour trek progressing?
-
I need to vacuum today.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Getting a real slow start here, that's for sure. But it's my first day in a week with nothing I absolutely have to do - all day - and that is a good thing.
-
Of course ..... allergies.
That's certainly part of it. Will probably treat myself to a Benadryl which could have the happy side effect of lulling me into a nap.
-
Whatever my dream(s) was(were), it(they) was(were) annoying, nothing more.
-
Strange songs:
1902 WIZARD OF OZ: Hurrah for Baffin's Bay

Monday morning greetings! Back to reality today after my fun few days at Stampaway last week. Not much on my calendar, but I have a lot of household stuff to do and today I must visit Mom. Richard and I will be cat-sitting all week while Rob and Mary Linda visit her family in Michigan.
-
very nice photos DR CHAS SMITH.
How do they light for matinees with that BIG window up there?

very nice photos DR CHAS SMITH.
How do they light for matinees with that BIG window up there?
It's a covered but open-air theater, including those backstage openings. They light for matinees same as evenings, which works fine except that scene changes are completely exposed.
-
Congratulations on your show Bruce!

GOOD LUCK!

The photos are nice DR Chas, thanks for sharing them.

TOD:
I read the other posts looking for ideas, but the only one I'd even heard of was The Lonely Goatherd. I do like that one. What else comes to mind is:
"Officer Krupke" from West Side Story
"Think of the Time I Save" from Pajama Game
"I Hate Men" from Kiss Me Kate
"Sounds While Selling" from She Loves Me
"Be a Dentist" from Little Shop of Horrors
"How Could You Believe Me?" from Royal Wedding
"Do You Love Me?" from Fiddler on the Roof
"I'm Not Getting Married Today" from Company
"Barcelona" from Company
I tried Googling this topic and apparently there's a lot of funny songs in Avenue Q, but I've never seen it.
I also remember "Thoroughly Modern Millie" and "The Drowsy Chaperone" being very funny shows, but I don't remember any specific songs.
-
Thanks DR CHAS SMITH....I like watching scene changes....
-
OPEN AIR theatre....very nice.

DR George, in answer to your question last night, the time in Las Vegas is the same as ours.
-
I've done a bot of G&D work, sent an important email about the work to MTI, and finished Chapter 6 of the memoirs. I'm on to Chapter 7 "The Lower Depths: Scorn and Humiliation."

Excellent review.....the show sounds like it was so much fun to see and to do!

Total cost $42.50! So I have my car and I am happy.....and I guess I have to go to rehearsal.

Back from the lunch meeting. At some point in about two hours I'll jog.
-
Thanks for the hugs, DR Jane!
-
All of a sudden, I just want to go home and go to sleep. Well, not exactly "all of a sudden," but ever since I got back to work from lunch. It could be because of what I ate (a mondito burrito from Taco Del Mar), or just because I had to go back to work.
;)

DR Jane I saw your comments about a biker racing past you while you were walking.
As the biker, it is sometimes hard to know what to do when people are walking. You assume that they will stay walking the way they are. But sometimes they can move abruptly and it becomes dangerous.
I started ringing my bell whenever I pass someone. But it actually scared the crap out of a couple.
I never race by people though. I always slow down. But I almost got hit by another biker. I was biking around the lake and there is a blindspot. I slowed down and rang my bell. There were a bunch of joggers coming and another bike was beside them. This other biker decided to race around the blindspot. And then he had the choice between almost hitting the joggers or me. So he chose me. We didn't collide but i had to jam on my brakes. I was so mad. He didn't even apologize. I don't know why he was racing past those joggers. The lake is not a place to go quickly. I wanted to scream at him.

You got a bell :) I admit, I have still been startled, however, I prefer jumping before the biker reaches me than as they are racing by. I might be talking or day dreamer, or just my usual self and not register it at first. I hear a bell better than most people who call out, and I know what the bell means.
I think most people who call out or ring a bell are more thoughtful about their "driving" and safety. We always say thank you, startled or not :)
I am very, very glad that idiot didn't hit you and not surprised at all he didn't say sorry. Our walking/jogging path is also not a place to race, especially on the sections where they can do so in the street. A few days ago this idiot did yell, only as he RACED past us. There was a driveway right behind us he could have turned out into the street and back up the next driveway. There weren't any cars and he had a clear view of us long before he passed us.
Some of the bikers do go off one driveway and then back up to avoid people. There are businesses all along that stretch and multiple driveways.

Enjoy the show, we did.
-
Well, it's time for me to leave work. I feel like there's something that I have to do before I go home, but I can't think of what it might be. I hate it when that happens. :P
Until later.
-
Good evening, all.

Hugs and vibes for DR Ginny.

Pain begone vibes for DRs TCB and Elmore.

Elmore, great news on the progress being made on those memoirs. Can hardly wait to read them.

Today, disaster was averted! Last night, after dinner with DR Kevin, we went to the Forum shops when suddenly my scooter hiccuped and died. Sandy ended up pushing my scooter and me all the way back to our room at The Mirage.
-
Back from a two-and-a-half mile jog. I've heated the pool and as soon as its dark I shall go for a swim.

Greetings from Chicago!

Oh, I'm sorry to hear that, TCB! I was hoping your charge would last till you got back to your room. Let me reiterate and say how much I enjoyed meeting you in person. And it was very nice to meet Sandy!

Wow, glad you made it back to the hotel. How's Sandy doing after that trek?
-
DR Kevin H, great photo of you and our DR TCB. How's the tour trek progressing?
Very well, DR elmore! It's been hectic but so much fun.
-
I've had an ear worm driving me crazy all day. It's a 1920s song called Nagasaki. It's not from a musical that I know of, though it was written by Harry Warren.
Down in Nagasaki
Where the fellas chew to-backy
And the women wicky-wacky-
Woo!

Last Monday I got to go to the dress rehearsal for "family and friends." My friend Robin got an invitation and asked if I could go too! The seats weren't great but it was a thrill to be there for such an event. The casts (and others) from Grey Gardens and A Chorus Line were invited.
-
Any juicy Barbra stories, KevinH? Or did I miss them?
-
So, who do I run into at the rehearsal but former DR Jose! He was there with the Chorus Line people. We had a brief chat. It was nice seeing him after a few years.
-
Any juicy Barbra stories, KevinH? Or did I miss them?
Don't know if they're "juicy," but I'll write about the concerts!
-
Any juicy Barbra stories, KevinH? Or did I miss them?
Don't know if they're "juicy," but I'll write about the concerts!
Looking forward to them.
-
At the concerts (rehearsal and opening night) in LA Barbra had three duet partners: Babyface ("Evergreen"), Seth MacFarlane ("Pure Imagination") and Jamie Fox ("Climb Every Mountain'). There was also a virtual duet with the late Anthony Newley ("Who Can I Turn To?")
-
She's on stage the entire time--no male groups this time. She does have three female back -up singers.
-
She does have a special guest--a mindreader from Israel. I'm not sure how I feel about it. My friend Paul thought it was tacky. I guess it's kind of fun. People from the audience catch Frisbees and are asked to, for example, describe Barbra in one word. The first night the answers were "amazing" and "beautiful." The mindreader takes a piece of paper out of bottle that he had brought with him onstage. The words were on the paper!
-
There were a few Trump jokes, as expected.
-
Barbra now has a band, not an orchestra. I think there only about 10 pieces.
-
Did Barbra mention me? Probably not. Then again, KevinH didn't even call to have a meal.
-
And yet he managed to see Jose, who doesn't even live here anymore.
-
Speaking of Penn and Teller: Teller walked by us after the show. He was on his way to see the mindreader.
-
Did Barbra mention me? Probably not. Then again, KevinH didn't even call to have a meal.
BK! I'm sorry! I was with my friends and it seemed like you were having a very busy week!
-
I figured I had run the battery down during all the lines at the airport and then before and during dinner; so I wasn't really worried.
-
When we were in Las Vegas, Robin and I recreated the album cover from "Stoney End." Robin rented a red car (no pickup trucks available!). She actually found the location for the shoot. It's just outside Las Vegas--only about 35 minutes from the strip, I'd guess.
-
The concert was at the new T Mobile Arena. I guess the MGM Grand Garden Arena isn't used by the big acts anymore.
-
As for the songs, Barbra sang the usual: People, The Way We Were, Evergreen, You Don't Bring Me Flowers, Children Will Listen, Happy Days are Here Again. New songs included: Being at War with Each Other, Everything and WIth One More Look at You (from A Star is Born), Losing My Mind, I Didn't Know What Time It Was. She also did a medley of Stoney End, Enough is Enough, and Woman in Love.
-
Does "Miss Marmelstein" qualify for the TOD?
-
The same night Barbra was in Las Vegas, Brent Barrett (who lives in Las Vegas) was appearing in Atlantic City with a new concert (The Four Phantoms: Davis Gaines, Frank D'Ambrosio, Marcus Lovett and Brent). The show is going to be in Scottsdale, AZ this coming Friday and Saturday. I'm hoping there will be new dates added elsewhere.

Here's a lovely review for last night's show: http://www.haineshisway.com/2016/08/when-rodgers-had-hart-reviewed-by-rob-stevens/
Congrats, BK!
-
There are some fine performances in this War and Peace, even if the soap opera aspects of the tale seem exaggerated and, well, sexed up. Jim Broadbent is especially good and I'm liking Lily James more than I did in Downton Abbey.
-
Even though I'm on Pacific Time, I'm exhausted and think I'll say goodnight !
-
Goodnight!
-
Good night, KevinH.

TOD 2:
How could I forget the great, "Man's inhumanity to man is wrong, and so we welcome you to our show!" from the Shoestring Revue?
-
I charged the scooter all night last night, and it showed charged this morning. So today, I went for coffee, we went to the Fashion Mall to buy the Penn and Teller tickets, and then we took Uber to the Rio to pick up the tickets.
-
A friend of Sandy's was meeting us at The Rio to go to lunch, and just before he arrived, the battery died again.
-
We got the scooter out to Elliot's (Sandy's friend) car and initially I just said they should drop me at the hotel and then they could go to lunch.
-
Instead, Elliot suggested we all take a drive and then stop for lunch someplace where we could park right outside the door. Elliot had one of his wife's canes in the car, so holding on to Sandy's shoulder and the cane with the other hand we figured we could get me in and out of a restaurant.
-
We took a beautiful drive out to Red Rock. The scenery was stunning. During the drive we decided to locate a Battery Plus store on the way back to town. We called ahead, and they had the batteries I needed in stock.
-
Battery Plus tested my batteries and they tested "bad." So, I bought the batteries, they tested them for me, and I am now back in business. Hoo-Ray!
-
Good night, all.
-
Had a swim, then went to Gelson's and got a couple of snacks from the deli section - they had a new kind of mac-and-cheese - lighter in calories (they list them) - mac-and-cheese with hatch chilis. I have no idea what hatch chilis are but this is a new favorite - it has a nice kick to it but seems much, much lighter than normal mac-and-cheese.
-
Today, disaster was averted! Last night, after dinner with DR Kevin, we went to the Forum shops when suddenly my scooter hiccuped and died. Sandy ended up pushing my scooter and me all the way back to our room at The Mirage.
I am impressed Sandy was up to the task.

Yay, and yay for Elliott for thinking of an alternative activity and taking you to get new batteries.
-
I think getting out ofor Vegas and taking a beautiful drive is my idea of making lemonade out of lemons.
-
I forgot a friend will be in Portland this week. I am expected for dinner. Usually, because we prefer it, we go there for lunch not dinner. Groan.
-
'night
-
Good evening!
-
Sorry, I got sidetracked watching the Olympics.
-
Sandy went out on the Strip for a time this evening.
-
I decided to stay in this evening.
-
Hey, it's my vacation, I don't have to do anything in particular.
-
We also got tickets tonight to go to the Titanic exhibit.
-
They now have "the large piece" which is the piece of the hull that they tried to raise when I was out at the site.
-
One more post.
-
Six
-
Anyway, it will nice to see some of the jewelry that we had onboard the ship.
-
No George tonight?

You know how I worry!

I had to balance the TAO checkbook for tomorrow's board meeting...and I decided to ketchup on FB. I was on the TAO board's private FB page, so I went to see what my friends have been posting recently. I've read enough for now.

Hi, Tom!
-
Hi, George.
