It's beyond me how these changes ever came about, and it was quite the surprise to learn of them when I began taking the occasional music gig with a couple of high schools some ten years ago.

I hadn't even been aware of the change from junior high school to middle school for the longest time, and I still think that shift in years is crazy.

Since the tests are administered in the early spring and districts want to get as much prep in as possible, they need to get those "butts in seats" earlier than we used to start. We saw this developing as our son was finishing elementary school. We also saw that after testing week, nothng significant happened for the rest of the school year.

School started here on August 10 :P

It is crazy to me that a lot of kids go back to school in the summer. Here it is next Wednesday, August 31st.

I'm so tired of going to Jerry's and having stuff like matzo brei and a bagel and a drink and with tip spending twenty-five bucks. Sickening. I'm at the point where I'm going to start gaming their system - there are certain things under ten, and there is a senior menu where all items are under ten, so I think I'll just do that for a while. And the same applies to Gelson's - I go there to get a snack and don't seem to be able to get out of there for under twenty dollars. Well, spending close to fifty a day on food when I'm not supping with people or going to a nice jernt, it's just stupid.
