Well, you've read the notes, the notes had new words for all occasions, and now it is time for you to post until the new cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: DISTRIBUTARY!
-
First postin to follow the postin submitted by BK!
-
Tom, last night (about a half hour ago) you asked, "Didn't they have any songs you liked?"
Yes, I don't doubt that there were songs that I like, but I just don't like singing karaoke. I don't mind watching and being with my friends (other than when it's always too damn loud...and last night was no exception), but karaoke has never been something that I enjoy doing. :-\
-
That's too bad.
-
Well, George, I think I need to go to sleep.
-
Hello. I am sorry I haven'the been responding to posts as I normally would. On the upside I have been sleeping better than usual after a day of playing.
-
Off to play on Corfu
Good vibes to all!
-
Well, George, I think I need to go to sleep.
As do I. Take care, Tom.

Good night, George

TOD: I've always liked the word "disenfranchise"- I have no idea why, except it seems to sound like exactly what it means.
And of course "Shipoopi."
-
Vibes for "No drama" for BK, except onstage!
-
Why am I up at four-thirty? Hopefully I can fall back asleep. Re Gene Wilder - one Facebook story showed up on my newsfeed from an actress who said she'd met and worked with him and wanted to share her story. They were appearing together in a scene on a boat in The Frisco Kid. They were doing a take and Gene started to tear up - director Robert Aldrich yelled cut. Gene leaned into the actress and said, "You're nothing like Gilda." Then she tells us the scene ended up on the cutting room floor. So, what's wrong with this picture?
a) The Frisco Kid was shot in 1978 and released in 1979.
b) Wilder didn't meet Gilda Radner until 1981 on the movie Hanky Panky
c) this heartbreaking line he supposedly said, "You're nothing like Gilda" means she's saying Gilda had already passed away and he was still not over it. Gilda did not pass away until 1989, a decade after The Frisco Kid was filmed.
So, a few of her friends come on with "beautiful story." And it is. But it ain't true. Do you correct her and set her straight or let it go?
-
Did the actress ever do any later films with Gene Wilder where that might have actually happened?
-
Nope, she has VERY limited film and TV credits, maybe ten things. As always on the imdb, where you can put your own stuff, it says she's "best known" for this and for that, but looking at her credits and what she played, she appears to me, at least in those early days, to have been an extra or bit player. She was in The China Syndrome - that's her biggest credit, but it's like not really a character name.
-
Good morning, all! I couldn't sleep last night.
-
Around 2:30 or so, I finally drifted off. I guess I gort about 6 hours of sleep. This will be a low-energy day.
-
I've got more "Crapshooters Ballet" today. I think I became frustrated with George Bassman around m. 60, so I have 199 bars to go.
-
Tonight, i am having dinner with several friends from Miami University Theatre when I was a grad student around 50 years ago.
-
DR TCB, I hope Elijah's recovery goes really well.
-
BK, I would say nothing about the inaccuracies in the actress' story. She needed to boost her ego and reinforce her image as a poor little waif with it. Shooting her down will make you look bad and a bully.
I'd then drop the lying bitch as a friend.
-
Good morning, all.
-
I wouldn't say anything either, BK. We can't police all of the errors on Facebook.
-
It's funny but I was telling my friend Bonnie just yesterday about two words I loved: mellifluous and elephantine. She chimed in with onerous. Another on the list is festoon.
-
Good morning, all.
-
As for curse words, I love the malleability of fuck in all its permutations and glories. So handy, so pliable, so exultant and low at the same time. So right. So wrong.
-
Good morning, all.
And good morning to you, too.
-
DR John G, I am sorry you are having such headache problems.
-
Today is prep day for the likes of moi.. Nothing but liquids through the day, then Prep Proper commences at six p.m. I have my liter of Kickapoo Joy Juice mixed and chilling in the fridge. Then tomorrow, first thing, is The Procedure. Everyone's favorite.
-
G.D. S.O.B.
That's my favorite string of curse words....usually said while driving....
-
If you are directing a play, it is also best said and then followed by throwing your clipboard to the ground.
-
I haven't done that for many years since it is counterproductive.....but it is usually effective.
-
I shall be employing all of these words today.
-
Good Morning-- which has nothing to do with my favorite words.
-
I've been pondering what to do about a shit named Adam Acito this morning.
-
Hold your breath...

...make a wish...
-
...count to three.

Hello. I am sorry I haven'the been responding to posts as I normally would. On the upside I have been sleeping better than usual after a day of playing.
Better sleep is a good thing, Jane!
It sure is. This morning we went to the just before 7:00 and we have been on the go all day.
-
We are now "relaxing" in the martini bar. The music is a bit too loud for relaxing ;D
-
DR Jeanne, regarding Celebrity vs other large ships. It seems about the same to us. We booked in Aqua class which includes the option to dine, breakfast and dinner, in a smaller restaurant. Last night we ate in the very grand 2 story dinning room. We are looking forward to returning to the smaller restaurant tonight.

Thank you. I know you enjoy hearing about cruises and am sorry your heart is probably not into it right now.
I am glad you are having an enjoyable vacation.
-
I can'tell fix that last post, sorry.

I wish I had found a shirt, hat, or Keychain in Croatia. It is a beautiful country, at least what we saw of it.
-
I did buy a ticket-ticket in the lovely town of Corfu today, still no Keychain yet. Keith usually finds the right one and we still have time left ;)
-
DR Jennifer I did find a pretty bookmark in Athens.
-
That is the extent of our suviner shopping. Our friends have punched a lot more gifts.

Been there enough times already. Don't envy you tonight. Sending you some powerful vibes of empathy.
-
I wish I had found a shirt, hat, or Keychain in Croatia. It is a beautiful country, at least what we saw of it.
I loved it, too. My sister in Germany vacations there every year. They love the beaches, the sun, the warmth. Of course, the week in August when they took me, it was rainy with highs in the 50s.
-

Then is it really counterproductive?

DR John G, I am sorry you are having such headache problems.
Thank you, sir. The air in Louisville is simply toxic.

Tuesday morning greetings! I have to do some number-crunching for Project Mom and some other desk work. After lunch, I'm going out shopping.

TOD - There's a restaurant now in the building that used to house Rookwood Pottery (http://www.therookwood.com/history.htm) in Cincinnati. They used to have a burger menu on which the sandwiches were named for Cincinnati streets. I always ordered the Erkenbrecherburger because I liked saying it. Erkenbrecher Avenue is still there, but, alas, the burger is no longer on the menu.

I was taken there by my folks a couple of times in the late 70s or early 80s, and I loved it. I always had a burger - and they were wonderful. I kind of lost track of it for some years (did they close down for a while?), but I researched it last year and drove up the hill to see the current incarnation. Now, I really don't have a good memory of what it looked like thirty years ago, so maybe this is just me, but I barely recognized the building. Did they expand, and pretty it up a lot?
But back to the Erkenbrecherburger. I had that and at least one other, I think a Cajun-spiced one and some other one. They were always excellent.
-
DR ChasSmith, I haven't been past Rookwood for ages. And I'm sorry to bring back burger memories today of all days. Vibes to you!
-
The Erkenbrecherburger sounds like a character in a Mel Brooks movie.

Ha! No problem.
But that drive I took past it? That was this past May, the very morning I left Cincinnati and drove up via Middletown to see you and DH Richard. I had a couple of hours to spare, and very happily spent them retracing some old steps, something I really love doing.

Cincinnati is full of wonderful names like that.

Or in some space movie by another guy who was said to be as funny as Mel... damn... you know who I mean?

I'm up, I'm up - again. Went back to sleep at five-thirty, so I guess I got seven hours.

Yea, that guy, too DR CHAS SMITH

The entire trip has been on the hot side with too many tourists. Croatia was a little more comfortable. Corfu was hot.

DR Jrand, thanks for sharing the phot

I am not a fan of swearing. I take great offense at G D as I do not like the G part. I am fine with damn though I tend to say heck. Keith laughs at that. I am not keen on FU though I have used it, more likely just to say F.....if I use it.
-
I say shit rather often ;)
-
I also say darn a lot if that counts 😊
-
I only curse in certain groups and with certain people. I don't mind hearing it. I just use it judiciously.
-
And when I drink. :)
-
Just because it tickles me -- this line from "The Man With Two Brains":
Drunk Test Policeman: Now, juggle these, do a tap dance, and sing the Catalina Magdalena Lupensteiner Wallabeiner song.

One of my favorites. Always makes laugh.

Thinking of you, Elmore, and Guys and Dolls as Chet Baker sings I've Never Been in Love Before in the background.

The word soupįon always makes me giggle. I don't know why, but it does. :))

Exactly! I also like Battlestar Galactica's equivalent, "frak" (or in the original series, "frack").

Jane, you could learn some science fiction swear words, like "frak."
;)
-
If I had read THIS (http://www.theonion.com/article/84-million-new-yorkers-suddenly-realize-new-york-c-18003) here, it could only have been written by Elmo.
As it is, it reads like Elmo, on a normal day, so...read it at your own peril.

Of course, I am partial to "Grok" but it's invention wasn't meant as an exclamation of disgust/dismay/disdain.

Frak is good :)
What did they say on Farscape? I seem to recall a good one on that show.

I think the British expression, bloody, is cute.
-
Bullocks is good.
-
The nap I took during the magic show tonight was not a good idea, not that I intended to nap.
-
I am going good to try and read myself to sleep. The alarm is set for 7:00 so we can go to the gym before breakfast.
-
You are welcome DR JANE.....I hope most DRs are checking out your BookFace to see all of the phots.
-
I am going to the theatre tonight to take some photos for the slide show/bios and one for a weekly newspaper with an early deadline.

PAGE FOUR

Let's get going.....step on it, Velma.......Velma, step on it!

Love it.

Back from bacon and eggs and toast and fruit, then a two-and-a-half mile jog.

DR Jennifer I did find a pretty bookmark in Athens.
Oh you are so sweet to think of me. Thank you.

Had an e-mail from Michael Reidel of all people.
And the topic was? Certainly not about Julie Taymor or Hamilton.
-
Hope all is going well for ChasSmith.

Getting ready to go see a movie at a theater I haven't been to since I graduated high school. That's 36 years ago.
I'm remembering some of the many flicks I saw there in the past: Wise Blood, The Stunt Man, Chabrol's Cat and Mouse, The Marriage of Maria Braun, a rerelease of Sleeping Beauty, Rocky, Bound for Glory.
-
Tonight, it's Indignation, based on the Philip Roth novel. I read it when I was on the road doing the BBQ book. Liked it a lot. I hear the movie is very faithful.
-
Given my offbeat choices in movies, I was often the only person in the theater. Wonder if tonight will be any different.
-
Good evening!
-
The special about Barbra's new album in now on Logo.
-
Nice photos, DR Jane!
-
DR TCB, I hope Elijah's recovery goes really well.
Me too. More vibes.
-
Hope all is going well for ChasSmith.
All is well, thank you, as I edge closer to being able to take my real break between sessions. :)
(Next session: 2:30 a.m.)

I recommend Indignation to the Philip Roth fans out there. Intelligent filmmaking, a script that stuck closely to the novel, and a dream cast.
Danny Burstein was just wonderful as the father who's beginning to obsess a little too much about his son's future. Linda Emond was the perfect Jewish mother, with equal parts love and steel and guilt. Tracy Letts was all pomposity and moral rectitude and yet somehow managed to find something almost human underneath the bluster.
-
It was $2 at the theater, a second-run house, and there were about 35 people in a space that seats 75 or so, so the place felt full without being crowded. All adults and all attentive. They laughed at the right places and didn't talk during the picture. It felt good.
-
That's two movies in the theater so far in one year. Twice as many as I saw last year.

I'd read something about this movie recently, but I don't remember what it was. I know that I was interested in seeing it, also. Who doesn't want to see Danny Burstein?
;)

I just looked on rottentomatoes.com (https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/indignation) and it has an 80% critic rating and a 90% audience rating. That's significant!
-
Well, I've been at work for far too long and now I must leave.
-
Tomorrow, we're having our annual summer barbecue, and I'm bringing a frozen (to be defrosted by tomorrow) key lime pie (my sister had it and didn't want it) and some jalapeņo cheddar cheese spread. It's really good. They're both from Trader Joe's.
-
It's going to be a fun afternoon. :)

And now...

...since we're...

...so close...

-
Well, I'm finally off.
Until later!
-
Have fun at the barbecue, George. Sounds like fun.
-
Meanwhile, at Chez Griffin, we'll be having spaghetti squash. And we'll be having it for days.
Friends of my parents' dropped off more spaghetti squash, cushaws, yellow squash, okra and more than you could imagine.
-
I'm digging up recipes. I know I want to make some squash pickles. I think those would be good.

Hello, 1 guest.

What was your favorite Philip Roth novel?

Good night, all.

Vibes fir Ginny , mom and _Richard

Why are Jane and her friends punching the gifts? Is Jane punching less because of her bad shoulder, or is she just naturally nicer to gifts?

Got up at 5:30 so I could take mom to the airport then worked 14 hours. Fell asleep. Over my dinner

That is all

Long rehearsal day is done and I got some snacks from Gelson's.

Have fun at the barbecue, George. Sounds like fun.
Thanks, John! It always is.

After work, I went to Taco Bell for a taco salad and after that, I went to the new Dollar Tree that just opened right next to the Taco Bell. I just looked around and they had (and I bought one) White Candy Corn M&M's. I don't really taste any kind of candy corn flavor. It's more just like an artificial white chocolate flavor...not horrible, but not special. And what is a White Candy Corn flavor, anyway?
-
Good evening!
-
Elijah has left the hospital and gone to his mother's house.
-
Her house is not wheelchair accessible.
-
So, for now, it will be phone conversations and texts.

Sandy got less than good news today. He will start a new more powerful chemo cocktail next week.
-
Headache relief for John.

Continued family vibes for Ginny, Richard, and Ginny's mother.

Picnic vibes for George. Hopefully the rain will hold off until after it is over.

Continued cruise vibes for Jane and Keith. Where is your next stop?

I'm tired. And nasally so I'm doing all the usual precautions.

Picnic vibes for George. Hopefully the rain will hold off until after it is over.
Thanks, Tom. According to the weather app on my phone, it says for tomorrow, "Considerable cloudiness with a couple of showers." There's a 60% chance of precipitation.

Your forecast is better than TV.
