Well, you've read the notes, the notes were on set, and now it is time for you to post until the on set cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: QUODLIBET!
-
First post after BK!

Gratuitous Post #5!

That is a plug for the opening show at TLT.

I guess it is bedtime.

TOD. It makes me crazy when someone who is in a service industry such as a cashier or customer service person of some kind says "no problem" in response to "thank you".
What happened to "You're welcome" Or "my pleasure" ?
Now if some random person (not AAA) was to stop and help me change a flat or a friend was to drive me to an airport or help me move, that is a different story. In the latter instance I am creating a problem, in the former, they are just doing their job
-
TOD continued
"My bad". I can think of no instance where this does not grate on my nerves. ( as the Vixter knows when I shoot her the vixmom patented "look of death" )
" I am sorry" conveys acknowledgment of the misdeed and an apology for the inconvenience; to my ears, "my bad" conveys "FU, lady get over it"
-
But maybe I'm just old
-
Saturday.
Continued Amazon order vibes for MR BK.
-
"My bad" and "No problem" are a couple of expressions that I also dislike.....perhaps I will think of more as the day progresses.
-
Good morning, all.
-
I assume burnt ends must be some kind of meat
You assume correctly, sir. The crispier bits of brisket from the ends.
To answer ChasSmith's question about the hand pies, they were baked.
-
It's a spelling mistake that's been driving me crazy lately. Apparently no one knows how to spell judgment any more. the British spelling is taking over.
-
TOD: one of them that i find peculiar is when someone says "Why do you always have to have the last word" or nastily says "Go ahead and take the last word, you know you have to have it" - It seems to me that the only person who actually complains when someone else likes to have the last word in a two-person conversation is someone who really wants to have the last word himself or herself.
-
TOD: another one that puzzles me a bit is "Why is it always about you?" - it just seems that mostly every accomplishment we make has something to do with ourselves in some way, even if it's as altruistic as the good feeling we get from having done something for someone else.
But that's just me, I guess. :)
-
And the word of the day is: QUODLIBET!
I think Skip had a number that was listed in the program (and demo) by that name in the San Diego version of "Time and Again."
I personally could never fully grasp the fact that the word had nothing to do with the number four, which I guess is "quad" not "quod.".

I learned that word from Peter Filichia.

Good morning, all.
-
And a happy and healthy Labor Day Weekend to the whole doggone lot of yes.
-
My iPad spellcheck does not recognize the word 'doggone'. What is this world coming to?
-
Of course I haven't used it myself in decades. But that IS how it's spelled, right?
-
Good morning!
-
TOD: I've only seen heard this in New York City: in McDonalds or Duane Reed, for example: I'll help the FOLLOWING customer. What happened to "NEXT?"
-
Yikes.
-
Good morning, all!

!! 2 !!

My dinner at Tony di Napoli on 43rd Street was quite deelish, and the meeting with Kevin, our M&M producer, went very well. Things are in the works.
-
I had another No 7 bus mess at 42nd Street and 6th Avenue after dinner. I got to the stop just as a No 7 bus was crossing 42nd. I waved my arm like mad and the jerk driver kept right on going. i could see that he did stop at 45th Street. So, I had to wait over 20 minutes for the next to show up. I think I will buy a gun.
-
So, I got home around 8:00, full of caesar salad and ravioli, watched a Father Brown episode and went to bed around 9:30. At 10:30 our M&M music director woke me with a telephone call to tell me that he couldn't make our meeting today. Because of the hurricane threat, he was taking an earlier flight to his next job.
-
I went back to bed, and I had a horrible nightmare about a ghost in my parents' house that awoke me at midnight and kept me awake and pondering if the events were in my dream or whether something dangerous was haunting my apartment. I still don't know what the whole thing was about.
-
So I slept late and I have no meeting at 1:00. I may do laundry and go to market.
-
DR TCB is the article about your nephew or the other driver?
-
DR George thank you for sharing the cute photo of Keith.
-
DR John vibes fyour bite begins improving.
-
We about got blown away buy the wind today 😄
-
DR elmore I just checked "The Bookman's Tale" out of my ebook library. Since there is more than one book with this title please confirm the author is Charlie Lovett. Thanks.
-
Thank you for the heads up on that "version" of the Bernstein PETER PAN, DR Elmore!
What a travesty. I will listen to it once, and rather than send it back into the world... well, I shall think of some appropriate fate for it.

It has good things about it. I think Eder sings the songs well and the music is really lovely. Bernstein was conducting in Europe, I believe, and he left everything in the hands of Marc Blitzstein, who sent him a long letter (published in the Bernstein letters) about the show's rehearsals and how the music was progressing.
My major gripe is the poor scholarship involved in reconstructing the score and the recording notes. God knows where they found that baritone who sings nicely but makes Captain Hook an utter bore.

With Larry closing in on 39,000, the burning question is: Are we still congratulating your 1000's as mill-stones, or would Larry rather just have more of a hoopla for his 40,000 milestone?
.
-
I'm up, I'm up - first I was up after only three hours of sleep, then I got an additional two.
-
Saturday morning greetings! I'm decked out in Michigan apparel, all set for their noon kick-off against Hawaii - Go, Blue!
-
At 4:30, Richard and I are going to the Dean's reception at Miami University-Middletown, officially kicking off the 50th anniversary celebration. There's a public event going on from noon-4, but I have a football game to watch.
-
TOD:
I haven't heard it for a while, but it made me crazy when someone would use the word "anymore" instead of "nowadays." For instance, "I'm always late for meetings anymore."
Ever since I learned that "irregardless" should really just be "regardless" that bothers me.
Business writers are bothered by the new expression "growing the business" which is annoying.
Also, everyone uses the word "utilize" when they can simply say "use" and mean the same thing.
I'm probably more bothered by mispronunciations likes putting the accent over the wrong syllable in "comparable."
I still hear people say "literally" when they mean just the opposite - "figuratively." It was only about six months ago when I heard a woman say, "I was so mad, my head literally exploded." Really? I heard on the radio that Miriam-Webster's dictionary has actually added to the definition of the word "literally" to mean added emphasis. So they had to succumb to public pressure. That's so sad.
-

But that's just me, I guess. :)
I just saw "The Danish Girl" on HBO for the first time. What a wonderful film that is. But the wife at one point says to her husband "it isn't always about you" and I felt like no one would have said that in 1930.

Yup. I think it was when I posted that I have a series of my own CD compilations of those kinds of songs...at least 16 CDs that I've compiled over the years. :)

TOD: I've only seen heard this in New York City: in McDonalds or Duane Reed, for example: I'll help the FOLLOWING customer. What happened to "NEXT?"
Fortunately, I haven't heard that here, yet, but why do they now say, "What can I get started for you?" :P
-
A former president of the board of directors for TAO always used to say, "Are we in agreeance?" He could never just say, "Do we all agree?"

With Larry closing in on 39,000, the burning question is: Are we still congratulating your 1000's as mill-stones, or would Larry rather just have more of a hoopla for his 40,000 milestone?

My opinion is that you can congratulate anyone at any time, and I can document the occasion if I'm on a desktop computer. It's difficult to do that on my tablet. And if anyone else wants, and is able, to document such momentous moments, please feel free to do so!
-
Back from stuff - ended up having some scrambled eggs and bacon just because I had two hours and that was an easy way to make them pass.
-
People should start arriving in about ten minutes, I should think.
-
DR elmore I just checked "The Bookman's Tale" out of my ebook library. Since there is more than one book with this title please confirm the author is Charlie Lovett. Thanks.
Lovett.
Thanks. I have 1 1/2 books still to read before I begin the tale.
-
Thank you. I thought my blouse was pretty with the Greek blue. Just as I began to get on the warm side I found a Mykonos t-shirt to buy and wear the rest of the day.
Oops, I accidentally removed more than my photo. Thank you DR Jrand for sharing it.
-
Thanks DR George.

I dragged out my old computer this afternoon while the laundry was in the dryers. Some CDs I have that will not be read by this ridiculous external hard drive on my new Mac will download fine on my old Mac.
So, I've downloaded a few CDs, then burned them to a blank disc and ow I'm downloading them into my new Mac. Oy!
-
Hello, everyone.
-
Very nice photo of you and Keith, Jane. I think I like it the best of all the ones I've seen from your trip.
Though I did enjoy the parrot and whoever that was. ;)
-
:) Thank you.
-
Mykonos was not my favorite stop on the cruise and yet we still appreci9it. There were plenty of little nooks for great pics and the windmills were a real treat. The fact we were almost blown away added to the fun.
-
TOD:
I've always disliked "on set" too.
"My bad"--to me this is a stupid expression and an example of the dumbing down of the language.
Many years ago people started saying, "Sorry 'bout that" in a tone of voice that was snarky and dismissive. That one has always irritated me and I'm glad I seldom hear it now.
-
The ship is in port until 2:30am. Apparently this is a party town. It seemed as if the younger people were off the ship tonight.

That's a gripe I have with many shows depicting an earlier period. Many phrases we use today just weren't used then!
-
Continued mega vibes to TCB's family and to DF Sandy!
-
"My bad" to me is just another way of saying oops or I goofed. I haven'the know anyone who used it for something serious.
-
I did the laundry and am already pooped. Lots here to do, but don't know how much I'll get done.
-
"My bad" to me is just another way of saying oops or I goofed. I haven'the know anyone who used it for something serious.
I sometimes hear it in lieu of "I'm sorry" or "my mistake." In those instances, it sounds to me like they don't want to own up to their error.

That's why it seemed so appropriate, my friend.

We cleaned some stuff out of the attic today. Not much, but it was a start.
-
Ooh, look what I found.
-
Four!!
-
Nice!
-
Page four? Really?
-
I think I'm going to take a nap.
-
Well, I must be going. Today will be a day of activities for me...well, two main activities. First, I'm going to my parents' house for our weekly family meal and visit. Today we're going to have mini pizzas! After that, I'm going to a fellow Theater Artists Olympia board member's house for a TAO fund raising outdoor movie and barbecue! The movie(s) will be projected on the side of his workshop building.
-
I'm bringing hot dogs and hot dog buns (the hot dogs and Polish dogs that Costco sells), and the cash box. ;) We had 14 or so people indicate on FB that they were going to go, and over 30 said that they were "interested." If they all show up, that would REALLY be great! But even if some of them show up, that'll help us, too. It's not supposed to rain, so that's a plus.
So, have a good day, all!
-
Until later!
-
TOD:
What everyone else has said is all good. Plus:
"I could care less" (instead of "I couldn't care less")
"Have a good one" (the new default, you rarely hear anything other than that all-encompassing "one" now)
"So..." (the new default vocal crutch start to every answer in interviews on NPR and the like)
"I mean..." (see "So...")
"Right. So..." (see "So...")
"Sure. So..." (see "So...")
"Like" (used/misused in so many ways you can't count 'em anymore)
Uptalk (statements ended with a question mark)
I miss the days when people used "um" as a crutch and you could criticize that as a singular weakness in their public speaking. That seems to have actually dwindled, now that every sentence is padded out with "so", "like", and "I mean...".
-
But there's lots of JARGON, too, that's just brain-numbing, starting with BK's "on set". My brain is too sore to up examples right now, but JARGON and BUZZWORDS of all kinds spread all too rapidly now.
-
A few more:
"brand" and "trending" -- (these two are business jargon run wild)
"based off" and "based out of" (instead of "based on" or "based in")
"This" and "+1" (referring to a post you agree with)
"pulled the trigger" (as in finally purchased something)
"loose" instead of "lose"
"your" meaning "you're"
"there, their, they're" -- nothing new with these, but the daily train wrecks with them are getting worse and more numerous than ever.
-
"awhile" instead of "a while"
"alot" instead of "a lot"
"terror attack" instead of "terrorist attack"
"buh buy" instead of "bye bye" or - hey, how about just "bye" or even "goodbye" for a change" Why must upper level business executives revert to baby talk when ending a phone conversation?
"sosh" -- however you might spell it, in place of "social security number". Yeah, I know you don't want to say the whole phrase hundreds of times a day, but why do I feel like "sosh" is all I've heard in the past few years?
-
Spelling gripes:
"biopic" - which always looked to me like it would be pronounced to rhyme with "myopic".
"pigsty" - which always looked to me like it would be said like "pigmy", but I don't have a solution to this one.
More jargon: "romcom"
-
Had perhaps the best stumble-through ever, then some of us went to Casa Vega. Since I'd eaten earlier, I had an enchilada (cheese) and a taco (ordered beef but got chicken and I just ate it). A la carte, so not really more than 400 calories. Will jog soon. Put about thirty more titles on Amazon. Orders haven't been as many as yesterday but they are coming in steadily.
-
Such great games on the U.S. Open/ESPN system today.....
You are welcome DR JANE....I am enjoying your photos on BookFace very much....but that one just stood out to me....although the windmill photo was a close second....
Of course nothing beats the parrot eating Keith's hat OR the donkey stampede video....
-
Congrats to MR BK & Co on their run through.....I guess She of the Evil Eye got everything done in time.
-
I finally hooked up the new printer to my mom's computer....and tried out the print a picture on a DVD feature.....it's a bit complicated, but it will get easier as time goes on....the picture is certainly NICER than the old LightScribe program that I had been using for years.....
-
I've begun a BBC series from the mid-1990s. It's like a non-sitcom version of "Friends." Andrew Lincoln, who's now on "The Walking Dead," seems to have the leading role. Jason Hughes of "Midsomer Murders" plays another major role. They're all college acquaintances, and in the first episode four of them are applying for young barristers' positions with a law firm. I'm enjoying it.
-
I think she of the Evil Eye was here for about twenty minutes of the stumble-through - heaven knows what she thought.
-
Back from a two-and-a-half mile jog and I didn't say "on set" once.
-
LOL.....I am sure she has a story to tell now......
-
Uneventful evening included more dominoes and a nice walk. It's too humid here for my tastes. But it is nice with all that humidity to see those lightning bugs at night. Missed those. I think Texas is just too dry for them.
-
And with that, I'm off to bed.
-
Good night, all.
-
Didn't end up watching anything last night, so I just finished watching HARDCORE this evening.
Wow. It's still hard to believe I didn't get to this in 1979. It was released very early in the year, and I remember certain things I was involved in at the time, but nothing that would have superseded getting to most any movie I'd want to see. But what an interesting film, and it certainly will bear repeated viewings.
As to L.A. location shots: I am blown away to see that the Holiday Inn still had the original iconic sign standing on Highland Ave. any time near 1978 which is the latest this could have been shot. And I loved the panned shot that holds for a moment on STAR WARS playing at the Chinese. How great is that? That would help in dating when that shot happened, but I guess it's still likely it was there through quite a bit of 1978. There was another thing or two which escape me at the moment.
Let's see, what else? It sounds like the "Cinema Motel" actually exists (or did) in the Valley, but I haven't checked it out yet. I hardly ever got to know San Diego, but I did recognize a couple of the buildings there near the waterfront. And it's always great to see S.F. in the 1970s, even though I never got up there as often as I wish I had.
-
Good evening!

Page four? Really?
-
It must be a Saturday night.
-
One more post.

Greetings, 1 Guest!

What is your favorite alcoholic beverage?
-
T.O.D.
Or what?
Do you want coffee, or what?
Do you want to go to the movies, or what?
Are you upset with me, or what?
Try answering "what" and see how they react.
-
Is this page five, or what?
-
Jane, the article was about the woman who was killed. It talked about what a good mother she was to her two children, and how loved she was by everyone who know her.
-
Then at the end of the article it said that originally it was believed that she had turned in front of the other driver. Now, however, they are investigating whether the other driver (my nephew) was speeding and / or impaired.
-

Please do share the row of windmills with the ocean view. Keith took that from the back of a shop where he purchased a shirt.

This was the first time that this had been mentioned and we would have preferred that they had waited until the investigation had been completed.
-
Today I had lunch with Sandy.
-
It is all very sad and I am sorry. I agree, it would have been better to wait for the results of the investigation before reporting it.
-
How is Sandy feeling?
-
We were supposed to have lunch yesterday, but the traffic for the three-day weekend scared me into waiting until today.
-
The latest news is not good. Several medium size tumors now on his liver.
-
Next Wednesday he starts on a more aggressive form of treatment.
-
He was shaken by the news, but he is trying to be positive about it.
-
He was fairly chipper today, but he is dreading Wednesday.
-
I would be scared too. Best of vibes to him, and to anyone dealing with cancer.
-
Yes DR JANE - this is a nice photo.

Good evening.
-
I will keep Sandy in my prayers.
-
It was a very long but good day. I am worn out. Good night.
-
I will keep Sandy in my prayers.
Thank you, Laura.
-
More titles added. And today ended up equalling yesterday in sales. It was like doing a new release. One guy bought thirty CDs - multiples of some - probably an Amazon dealer who'll hold on to them until I'm sold out and then jack the prices up but I can't worry about that stuff.
-
These are all Kritzerland titles?
-
Yes, all long OOP stuff.
-
Where were these people during the three years when these were IN print?
-
Is there a page six on the horizon?
-
I am calmed and made happy by the music of Howard Hanson and I don't care who knows it.
-
Page five? Really?
-
6
Did you ever come across a copy of your PETER PAN?
-
Page six? Really?
-
No, not here, but I know we have some in storage - we're gonna go through all that stuff next.
