Well, last night's TAO fund raising movie night was VERY successful!  "Young Frankenstein," in memory of Gene Wilder, was the chosen movie, and a good time was had by all.  For foodstuffs, we had the Costco dogs that I brought, hamburgers, ribs, baked beans, cupcakes, various kinds of chips, and a few other things.  Everyone enjoyed the food, the company, and the movie.  The best part was that we took in over three-quarters of a full month's rent!  Hoo and Ray!!

And now, I'm going to bed.  Today, I get to sleep in!  I have no plans other than to watch TV and maybe do some laundry.  Maybe I'll get my new computer set up.  We'll have to see about that. :)

Have a good day, all!

Last night I dreamed that I was working on a film that BK was producing.  The dream took place in the past, maybe the 1930s, and there was a problem wit casting the Doctor.

I also remember a bit of a dream i which I was an attorney.  A high school friend was caugfht in the crossfire.

The clip from the King of Burlesque in the notes [which seems to be from a show in Indianapolis] reminds me that my question is:

Why is it that the people most willing to take off their clothes in front of everybody are people that you don't necessarily want to see with their clothes off?

Sunday morning greetings!  Richard had a night of fitful sleep and elected to stay home from church today, so I did, too.  We saw Rob and Mary Linda off to their church, after which they will go to their 5th anniversary lunch with their matron of honor and her husband.  Where did THAT half a decade go?

After yesterday's decisive Michigan victory over Hawaii, we went to the local Miami University campus for yet another 50th anniversary reception.  The current dean introduced me to her husband as the first librarian there and I made it clear that when the campus opened I was still in high school.  Yes, I'm from the early days of the campus, but not the very beginning.

I'm up, I'm up - about ten hours of sleep and the alarm did not go off, which is disturbing. Have to figure that out.  So, I slept about ten minutes later than the alarm.  I'm stuffed up and congested but that should go away at some point.

I've spent the afternoon finishng Season 1 of This Life and after dinner i'll begin Season 2.  I suspect this never made American TV in the 90s because of the sex, nudity and language, but it's really a brilliant series,  I am also surprised it has never been available as a BBC Region 1 DVD.

After church and lunch today, we went down to the river to see the Big Four Bridge, which you can walk over, going from Kentucky to Indiana (or vice versa).

Dad made it to the bridge, which was a far hike. He and I sat down for a rest while Mom walked the whole length of the whole bridge and enjoyed it.

The Labor Day sale at Half Price Books left me a little cash poor. Found a copy of Ministry of Fear, which I've wanted and for some reason just never bought. Also found a noirish early novel from John D. MacDonald that I don't think I've read, Down Low Tide. It sounds wonderful, lean and mean.

I got into John D. MacDonald big time when I was living in Florida. He had a gorgeous home on the beach in Sarasota, and they would have a festival in his memory on a regular basis. I did a story on his effect on other Florida mystery writers, so I also dove in and read maybe 40 or 50 of novels back then. They were like popcorn. I couldn't put them down. Now, I like to read one every year or so. Good pulpy stuff.

I got into John D. MacDonald when I was living in Redondo Beach, CA, and I read a whole slew of them by the pool during the summer of '84.  I'd grown up in Fort Lauderdale during (more or less) the years he was writing about, and absolutely loved them.  I've been more than ready for a return to the whole series for the longest time now.

I'm back home from the movie, and from dinner with my friend at a local diner.  He had chicken fried steak strips and tater tots.  The tots were good, but the strips were not.  They were very obviously overcooked, but my friend didn't send them back.  I don't know why.  My breakfast burrito was very good and huge.  I only ate half of it and brought the unfinished half home.  Tomorrow, I'm actually going to have a breakfast burrito for breakfast! :D

There seem to have a team of managers whose main job is to go from table to table looking for complaints about the food or the service.

I could have spent the entire meal dunking the pieces of bread in the tasty cheese.

It was all very nice, but the price seems a bit high for what you are getting.

But then you are paying for the ambience as much as the food.

One of my bucket list places to eat is the Space Needle...and not just up in the observation deck.  My sister and niece have gone at least a couple of times, but I have never been.

Still on the list are Ruth's Chris Steak House (sorry Jane) and Genghis Cohen.

The food is fabulous!  Very pricey, but worth the price.  When I win the Lotto, I will take you George.

The show was top tier Kritzerland all the way, from the great and sold out crowd to a wonderful cast - everything clicked.  HUGE laughs for the patter tonight, huge ovations for so many songs.  They may imitate us but no one can BE us - we are completely unique.
