Title: JOURNEY TO THE PAST

Well, you've read the notes, the notes journeyed to the past, and now it is time for you to post until the journeying cows come home.

BK, when you wrote in your notes, "I’ve been trying to get stuff from Little Dancer and Rocky to no avail," is the trouble that you need to get actual music, or the rights?  I don't have it, but vocal selections to Rocky have been published:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/1480387010/

Or is there some other issue?

TOD:

CD - Trotters here, too.

Movie-wise, not much this entire week, too busy doing other things.  But last weekend while driving somewhere I listened to Ray Bradbury reading FAHRENHEIT 451, which was lovely, and it made me pull out the DVD a few nights ago to see the movie for the first time in over a decade.  It's an imperfect masterpiece.  I've always loved it, and still do, but I can see the ways in which it could be better.  It's amazing to hear how nearly impossible it was for Truffaut to get it bankrolled, and how impossible it's continued to be for anyone in recent years to get a remake going.  I'm not one who ever cries for anyone to remake something, but I would welcome a truly brilliant one.  It just seems no studio has ever wanted to go near this story.

I had one truly weird dream: I was an executioner in the 18th or 19th century.  I operated a guillotine. It was so disturbing that I woke after I was spattered with blood. Too messy a death.

WOW!

Yesterday, I got my quarterly royalty check from BearManor Media, and I was so taken aback that I contacted the publisher to confirm that the amount of the check was correct.  It was.

I am not going to reveal the amount, but the people at BearManor  believe that this is the largest quarterly royalty check that they had ever sent to an author.

I have several books with this publisher, but the vast majority of this check is from my biography, MISS DINAH SHORE, a virtually finished project that, because of a dispute with the original publisher, sat forgotten in my storage space for over 30 years before I re-discovered it a couple of years ago.

DOUBLE WOW!

You'll please excuse me now.  I'm going to the bank.

DR ELMORE the Dream-O-Matic 6000 says that your dream that you are an executioner indicates that you feel in control of certain areas of your life and not others. I, too, find Stacked to be an annoying restaurant and I agree that I don't want to have to work that hard. It just takes forever to decide what you want. They're a very popular place and tend to be very busy. It's in the Thousand Oaks Mall with the Cheesecake Factory right across from it, which can also have very long wait times. We tend to just stay away from that area, but now I feel like I should try their salad, which I've never had.

Across the street, and down three houses, from our second home in the Greater Detroit Area was a beautiful home that had been built by a Vernor.  I don't know which one.

Well, I'm off to my parents' for our quasi-weekly family dinner/visiting/card game night.  I don't know what we're having, but I'm sure it'll be something. ;)

Until later.

I was bemoaning the fact of no Internet until morning to Doug Haverty and he told me about something called personal hot spot - I didn't know what that meant and he said I should be able to create a hot spot from my iPhone and get on the Internet on the computer.  So, I called Apple, a lovely woman helped me set it up and voila I'm on the computer and on the Internet.  Who knew?  This is the good part of technology.  It does eat up your cellular data on the iPhone but I have 26gigs of it and she said that should be plenty, but she also said I can just turn it off when I'm not using it and that will conserve.

I am trying to figure out what excursion the folks on this riverboat cruise took today.  After dinner at a new restaurant down the road we saw 3 buses that had recently returned.  We have seen the steamboat go by us on the river but never seen it docked.

AT&T is out one street doing crap and they either cut or knocked out my Time Warner cable so I have no Internet. And while they told me they're sorry they can't or won't fix it. I called Time Warner and while the nice lady has made an attempt to get them out here today it probably won't happen until ten tomorrow morning which was the first time they had. Thankfully I can still use the iPad for small stuff. Unbelievable

I recall, years ago, when I had my condo in Calabasas:  An AT&T repair guy came out to do something with one of my neighbor's phone, and he screwed up everybody's line in the building.  I was home that day, and as he was leaving, I told him that he'd screwed up everybody's line, and his response was: "You'll have to call the office for a repair man."

Edward Albee has died. Loved several of his plays, the first pair of which, "American Dream" and "The Zoo Story," I had to read in high school.

I guess it would probably be tasteless to play Breakfast at Tiffany's in his honor tonight.

I'm really having fun with Hail, Caesar!

It's not the Coens' best, but everyone seems to be enjoying themselves and the visuals are tremendous.

Saw a wonderful production of A Delicate Balance at the Berkshire Theater Festival back in the late 1980s with George Grizzard.
