Well, you've read the notes, the notes were back online, and now it is time for you to post until the online cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: ZYMURGY!
-
First post after BK!
-
First post after TCB!
-
Hi, Tom.
-
TAO's movie night double-feature went well. We had 10 people and the waffles were delish and consumed both before "Priscilla" and in between the two movies. "To Wong Foo" was the second feature.
-
One of the audience members was there with his family and they loved the idea of it all. He owns a local (book?) store and said that he'd love to donate gift certificates for any future fund raisers/raffles that we might have! That was pretty darned nice of him!
-
Good "early" morning to all.
-
George, don't miss the show tomorrow!!
-
I think it is a 1:30 p.m. curtain.
-
Good early morning, Michael.
-
BK
Actually "Better Than A Dream" was added to the Broadway run after it opened. Not sure at which point this was done.
The song "Do It Yourself" was written for the film. It at least to my ears seems to be be a rewrite of You've Got To Do It" which some lyrics are included in the former song.
"My Guiding Star" was also written for the film and cut.
-
Good early morning, Michael.
And you have a good night.
-
George, don't miss the show tomorrow!!
I plan not to!
-
I think it is a 1:30 p.m. curtain.
I checked and it's at 1:55 pm.
-
Hello, Michael!
-
Good night, Michael!
-
Well, I'd better go to bed so that I can get enough sleep before the show.
Have a good day, all!
-
BK, I'm glad that the Blu-ray to "Bells Are Ringing" is better than the DVD, which is MUCH better than the laserdisc. :)
-
And NOW I'm going to bed. 8)
-
Good morning were about to set off for NY. Elmore did you happen to hear from Ben and Ant? I am concerned they may have been out and about and caught in that ugliness last night
-
Good morning, all.
-
Vibes and prayers for those in New York.
-
Good morning, all.
-
I just realized it's an hour later than I thought when I'd first gotten up. I misread the clock. Imagine that.
-
I'm so glad this is a Sunday with no obligations.
-
I got an email that Ben sent to a lot of people saying they're fine.
-
A week from today I'm driving over to Morgantown WV for a mini-reunion of several of us who have strong roots there. We've done this a couple of times and it's always fun. The city and its dramatic topography have almost magical associations for me from early childhood visits.

This is what I have.....as a turntable, it is NOT great shakes, but you can record an MP3 directly to a flash drive from the turntable - you don't need a lot of cables.
Then you transfer the MP3 to your computer. I use a free program called AUDACITY to clean up the files and edit them, etc.
The instructions are NOT very clear - so it's hit and miss until you figure it out. But if you want a turntable that can also be used to regularly play vinyl - it's not for you.

DR Elmore is unable to get on the site this morning -- even though I see him as logged in intermittently.
I've had that happen, being unable to get to it but others assure me it's fine for them. And I never know what the problem is or what eventually fixes it!

The nice thing about my setup is that my turntable is of good quality, so I'm directly recording ITS performance, AND into a high-res file. I can compress that into MP3 if I want, and I use Audacity to tweak things, too - which has got to be one of the most useful free programs ever.
-
I'm beginning to wonder if others are having trouble getting on. I've only seen DR Jrand66 since I've been on, and the last post before that was two and a half hours ago.
-
DR Elmore reports that Applecare cannot get HHW to load either.
-
It's funny but I saw elmore's name when I just accessed the site.
-
Yesterday was a fun, but long day.
-
It included judging the margarita pour-off for the first time in a couple of years. Always fun, even if some of the entries are dreadful.
-
Yesterday's weirdest had, as a garnish, a big ol' lump of guava paste on a toothpick. Another judge and I thought it was a slice of sashimi tuna.
-
The most clever, and also the favorite, had a hollowed-out strawberry on the side with a hole in the bottom. It was filled with tequila and when you when to pick up the strawberry, the tequila drained into the drink.
-
IT'S A LOVELY MORNING!
-
I know a few of you have seen "Florence Foster Jenkins," which is on my list, but have any of you seen "Marguerite"? It's a French film about a fictional version of her. I've started watching it. It's very well acted, but I don't know how much of it I can watch. She knows she's a terrible singer, which makes her neediness pathetic. And she's being taken advantage of by the people who are laughing at her behind her back. Maybe that's the premise of "Florence," too, but this film in the first 40 minutes or so is cruel. Of course, it's French, so that can be easy to assume.
-
IT'S A LOVELY MORNING!
It is indeed.
-
Sunday afternoon greetings! Had trouble logging in all morning. I'm just here to say HI and BYE before my friend Sharon picks me up for our 2pm entry to the "Dressing Downton" exhibit at the Taft Museum in Cincinnati.
-
Good afternoon, all! It only took me four and a half hours to get onto this site today. At 8:00am, the page would only download about half a page and go no further.
-
No trouble for me.....but who knows.....
Yes.....I guess if QUALITY is a concern....a nice turntable with cables would be best.....
-
He's here!!!
-
I spent about an hour with Applecare, who could not access the site, and my Macbook would not download either. Yesterday night, I accidentally downloaded some malware and I thought that might be the problem.
-
A nice young lady named Amber cleaned out my computer and stil I could not log onto HHW. But suddenly - mirabile dictu! - I'm back. I of course blame Donald Tramp and his ilk.
-
So, what the hell happened? Anyone know?
-
The most clever, and also the favorite, had a hollowed-out strawberry on the side with a hole in the bottom. It was filled with tequila and when you when to pick up the strawberry, the tequila drained into the drink.
Yum.
-
I put rice down the garbage disposal and plugged the sink.
-
Glad you could join the party, Elmore.
-
So, the explosion last night was the "successful" one of two, the other explosive was discovered and did not go off. I don't know if this was perpetrated by the same people as the one in Central Park this summer, but I doubt it's terrorism and simply a lunatic who's discovered how to make a bomb on the internet.
Selfishly speaking, since 23rd Street is closed off, I wonder how this will affect my trip tomorrow morning to my podiatrist.
-
I put rice down the garbage disposal and plugged the sink.
:)
-
I'm up, I'm up - a little over eight hours of sleep.
-
I had no trouble accessing the site but I'll check to see if there was a problem.
-
I had no trouble, either. But it's been quite a while, so hopefully all the problems have been resolved.
-

I've seen FFJ, but it's not a pathetic situation. She doesn't realize that she's bad, and her husband tries to make sure that she doesn't find out.
-
Well, I need to get ready to go see The Story of My Life (http://www.olympialittletheater.org) that TCB saw yesterday. I'd heard that it's good, but that they haven't had the huge crowds that were expected, so hopefully it's not sold out on their last performance.
Be back later.
-
But before I go...
-
...since we're so close...
-
3hree!!
-
We had a nice brunch at a neibor's this morning.
-
Before we left Keith spent an hour fixing the clogged sink. It is a good thing it only took half a minute to walk to there.
-
SHOW BOAT on the Big Speakers. Magnificent.
-

-
Charmian Carr has passed away (http://www.ew.com/article/2016/09/18/charmian-carr-sound-music-liesl-dead-dies). :'(
-
Chas We breakfasted at the IHOP on Sunday to say hello to the Vixter and BF and again on Saturday to say goodbye
-
Monday and Tuesday the Vixfamily reunited for fun at universal while the BF was teaching history to 10th graders.
-
Monday evening VixBF joined us at the park for dinner at The toothsome Chocolate Emporium. And Savory feast kitchen
-
Tuesaday evenings he is taking a course in teaching ESL students so he did not join us for dinner which was at the same restaurant
-
Delaware!!!
-
Did I mention how I love EZ pass and the EZ pass express lanes in Maryland?
-
I also now own a Sun pass for use in Florida
-
Wednesday and Thursday and Friday Vixdad and I just did a little of this and some of that and the other and enjoyed Not Working
-
Friday night we went to Disneys not so scary Halloween party where we were joined by the Vixter and BF
-
There was a torrential downpour as we were coming out of the haunted mansion so rather than make us go out in the rain they allowed us to rejoin the ride. Five times
-
So we now know all the words to the narration track
-
And noticed a lot of little touches we had not noticed before
-
And then the rain had stopped and we were able to snag good spots for the Halloween parade and then for the lightshow at the castle and the fireworks after
-
And then just like that *poof* vacation was over
-
We listened to Terry Prachett's "Thud". On the way South and to his "Wee Free Men" on the way north Both good listens
-
Joyzee
-
Well the sun is going down so I will be signing off before the iPad light gets to be distracting for Vixdad
-
DR vixmom, get home safely!
-
Charmian Carr from Evening Primrose and Sound of Music has died.
http://www.usatoday.com/story/life/movies/2016/09/18/sound-of-music-actress-charmian-carr-dies-at-73/90627112/
-
OH NO!
I enjoyed her book very much.
-
Good evening.
-
Yes, forgot to mention Charmian. Exactly to the day, we supped seven years ago at Hugo's.
-
Had a very good work session with Kay and John, then had a Chinese Chicken Salad and a bagel, and now Richard Sherman is on his way.
-
So sad, about Charmian Carr.
"of complications from a rare form of dementia"
And only 73. Oy.
-
Chesapeake House and Maryland House. You don't go north and south without stopping in at least one of them.
-
Another bit of ridiculousness on tonight. The Pride and the Passion with Frank Sinatra as a Spanish peasant warrior. Yeah, right.
The George Anteil score is good. That's about it.
-
Yes, that's sad about Ms. Carr. I guess she's the first of the Trapp Family actors to die.
-
It was 100 degrees today and I'm making soup. I'm stupid.
-
Is anyone else watching the Emmy Awards? Nothing too exciting so far.
-
Nice to see Cillaliz back.
-
I loved Florence Foster Jenkins (the movie).
-
Continued safe travels to DR vixmom and DH!
-
She is so happy
If I was using my tablet I could put a big happy heart here.
-
DR Laura, I couldn't get a photo of the butterflies, but I'm told they're snout-nose butterflies.
-
Nice to see Cillaliz back.
Exactly.

Hi VinTek. It was sad to read this. Looking at the side by side photos she really looked the same, just with wrinkles :)
-
Monday and Tuesday the Vixfamily reunited for fun at universal while the BF was teaching history to 10th graders.
Is this is regular job?
-
It's 72 this evening, but it's gotten really muggy again. I'd be perfectly comfortable with the temperature, but I was downstairs watching and listening to stuff all afternoon, then I came upstairs and the air is awful. Five minutes up here and I started sneezing. So the HELL with that. The a/c will have to be turned on for a while to dry out this jernt, and I'm treating myself to a Benadryl sleep tonight.

Yes, it's amazing how the entire Trapp family had survived the years when entire casts and crews of other early '60s musicals and roadshow films have disappeared from this earth years ago. I'm sad about Carr, always admired her.
-

That's great about rejoining the ride, but for my taste it's too bad the Mickey thing was going on.
I'm a dissenter and don't like that particular seasonal "overlay" one bit, at least as regards the Haunted Mansion. Here you have THE most artfully conceived spooky attraction the world has ever known -- and for the spooky season you dress it up in this... stuff...
-
Snout would have been my guess, John.

Nice.
-
I have pulled out my Pride and the Passion soundtrack from Kritzerland to listen to again after this silliness of a movie is over.
The scenes of moving the big cannon over the mountain are all too reminiscent of Fitzcarraldo, with the boat going over the mountain.
-
The Shermans have vamoosed and I have to jog right this very minute although I don't really want to.
-
Glad to see Maggie Smith win an Oscar for "Downton Abbey."
-
Bad phone pics, but photographic evidence all the same. Click to enlarge.
Like I probably said last night, this was beautifully sung and played. MD did fine on his first FANTASTICKS, and it was this young harpist's second production and she's astounding. Just perfect. They employed the percussion, which would not necessarily be my druthers, but it's not too obtrusive and does add a few nice touches.
-
The venue is just too large for this, and the splotches of color and design on top of their reused ZORBA structure did little or nothing in support of the magic that's usually so "there" when it's kept REALLY simple. As instructed. Most of the cast was good, a few less so, but I'd probably put that on the direction.
-
But a great fun night was had by all, especially by this former movie star.
-
Great photos, ChasSmith.
-
Good night, all.
-
Back from a two-and-a-half mile jog. I think I'll go put some gas in the motor car and get that out of the way.
-
Good evening!
-
Greetings from a cool but clear night in Tacoma.
-
Yesterday's rain, rain has gone away,
But will return some other day.
-
I got too little sleep last night.
-
So, I have been napping on and off all day.
-
I went and dropped my laundry off! So exciting.
-
And I made the mistake of stopping at Safeway within the three hours before the start of a Seahawk game.
-
It is like trying to shop the night before Thanksgiving.
-
No parking spots (especially disabled) are available anywhere near the store.
-
I know better, but I stopped anyway, because I was out of Diet soda.
-
Sandy cancelled out of going to the Fair tomorrow.
-
The weather might not cooperate, also.
-
Monday and Tuesday the Vixfamily reunited for fun at universal while the BF was teaching history to 10th graders.
Is this is regular job?
Yes he is a full time history teacher now. Two of his classes are entirely made up of students for whom English is a second language some Spanish speakers and a lot of French-speaking Haitian students
-
No onion burgers and scones for me tomorrow.

Welcome home, Vixters. Sorry you have to go back to work, Vixmom.

Does one EZ pass work in several states or do you need a separate one for each state you travel in?
My belief is that the EZ pass works all along the eastern seaboard except in Florida where you just have a Sunpass

We left Lumberton at 9:30. Stopped in va for dinner for about an hour and we were at the exit for the verrazanno bridge at 7:30. We actually got on the bridge at 10:15 and it took almost 2 hours to travel the last 30 miles home

What??
HORRIBLE.
-
The last 2 hours were more bearable than the nearly three hours to go the 3 miles or so from the exit ramp of the turnpike to the bridge. At least we were traveling

12 lanes merging into one lane and dozens of entitled sobs driving up in the wrong lanes and then cutting across and pushing their way in ahead of peopLe were on the correct lane from the start
-
Well I have to go to work in 6 hours do goodnight

Good night, Vixmom.

Energy vibes for DR Vixmom.
-
Thanks for the photos DR Chas.
-
I just saw on the news the reason for the delay on the Verrazano Bridge. That would explain the long delay.
-

That's too bad...and 73 is much too young. :(

I should have recorded it. I say "should" because I set my DVR to record it, but I haven't checked to make sure that it actually recorded. ;)
I'll check it soon enough.

Glad to see Maggie Smith win an Oscar for "Downton Abbey."
Oscar??

Great photos, ChasSmith.
Agreed! Very nice!

Hi, Tom! I saw "The Story of My Life" today. It was wonderful!
-
Sharry was there (she had seen all but two performances) and said hi to me and asked if I was there by myself (I was) and would I mind if we sat together (I didn't) and then she saw two other friends of hers (actually a female friend of the actor who wasn't her husband [I forget his name] and her friend) and introductions were made all around and all four of us sat together.

That's it...of course.
-
She invited me to go to dinner with them, but I had to go to my sister's, so I (hopefully politely) had to decline.
-
After the show, Sharry took pictures of people who met her husband Micheal and Frank. Then she took a picture of the two of them with us three who sat with her. It was all very friendly and fun.
-
They are going to try and take the show to Seattle.

Yes, Sharry does love to take photos. She used to keep the entire Fuji and Kodak film divisions in business.
-
Years ago, Sharry and Micheal went to see a review (WHAT IF) in L.A. And after the show she wanted some photos with the cast. So, she asked this local guy (BK) if he would take some photos for her.

It was only later, when she read the program, that she realized that it was Bruce.
