Well, you've read the notes, the notes grew, and now it is time for you to post until the growing cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: ERISTIC!
-
From last night (actually, just a few minutes ago):
So what is geg?
A typo. ::)
-
Second post after BK!
-
Well, it's time for me to sleep.
Good night, Tom.
-
Good night, George.
-
Good morning to all

Good morning, all.

Good morning, all!

Joshie is busy today with some prep work for the City Center gala Sunday in the Park With George featuring Jake Gyllenhall so he's cancelled on me. I have things to work on here, so life will go on.
-
I've heard no more about this Moonshine & Mistletoe recording, so I will continue to work on this today. I must be ready if/when it happens.
-
I may even risk the rain and make a trip to the 86th Street supermarket.
-
Good morning, all.
-
I think our rain is holding off till late tonight, so I will try to take advantage of that by getting some outdoorsy work done today. Or at least enough that I can tell myself I'm keeping up with it.
-
Because perception and delusion are everything. Right?
-
I bought a pair of new shoes last week....and now I have to go buy a belt.....I didn't realize I didn't have a light brown belt.....I only have black belts, and NOT Karate Black Belts.
-
Nice shoes. I also have a new pair of sneakers....nice FILA shoes....and size 10's fit nicely, even though I usually wear a size 9 1/2.
-
Here's something weird:
On my iPad, in the three pictures of the shoes, the shoes are oriented horizontally, right-to-left, and look squished (so the shoes look kind of short and fat). Then when I tap to get a close-up of just the photo, they elongate, like a TV picture that's s-t-r-e-t-c-h-e-d.
On my browser on the PC, they're upright and totally normal.
-
No, wait, there is one weird thing on the browser. When I click to enlarge, the shoes turn sideways! But they remain correct, geometrically, in either view.
What the HELL?

Thursday morning greetings...
There was a bad train wreck this morning at the Hoboken PATH station, and I've been following it on the CBS News. Three fatalities reported so far.

Awful news from NJ...
-
I slept until after 9 this morning, very late for me. Today I must get out to see Mom and take her some M&M's.
-
Yes, just heard about the train crash.
Unbelievable, ESPECIALLY after the one speeding around the curve of the Hudson Line, and the one in (I think it was) Philadelphia, same basic thing? What in the HELL is going on out there?

TOD: Feet Grow...and grow.
Most of my adult life -- at least I turned 40 -- my foot size was 10 1/2 D.
Then I served a three-year tour on an aircraft carrier. All the floors (or, decks) are steel. Suddenly, my feet were 10 1/2 EEE. A number of years ago, I tried on a pair of sneakers that were 11 1/2 EEEE (yes, that's 4 E's) and they were a perfect fit. My foot size is generally 11 EEEE or 11 1/2 EEEE to this day.
It's very discomfiting to find that most shoe manufacturers, when making quality shoes, stop at the "normal" D-width.
I've passed on some very smart shoes that didn't go beyond that D-width, let me tell you.
-
"Black Moon
I saw you standing alone
Without a dream in your heart
Without a love of your own."
No? I know it was "some kind" of a moon.

Those would be on my list, alongside "The Thomas Crown Affair".

Bruce your new running shoes look like they have a narrow toe which could have something to do with needing a larger size. I recently changed the style of running shoes and went up half a size. Feet do grow too.
-
Of course they aren't really growing, they are more likely flattening out.
-
The Blob
The Magnificent Seven
Wanted: Dead or Alive
The Great Escape
Love with the Proper Stranger
THE BLOB was the first scary movie Keith made me watch and probably because of Steve McQueen I liked it.

Was just reading about the new stage version of Holiday Inn, which, to me, sounds awful. As always, they've shoehorned in tons of Irving Berlin songs and tried to make them work for the show. One of those songs, Nothing More to Say has been appropriated from my Unsung Irving Berlin album - they should thank me and Lanny because without us that song would still be languishing in Mr. Berlin's trunk because on one would have had the chutzpah to do what we did - when I found it, it was a melody line with a lyric I liked - but no harmonies, no accompaniment. We did that (this is all in Album Produced By), and just tried to be true to Mr. Berlin's style. They've just taken our arrangement work and had Larry Blank orchestrate it.

Back from visiting Mom, who was in pretty good spirits today. She liked getting some M&M's and she wanted to take a ride in her wheelchair. We walked indoors a bit and then went outside, very briefly. It was kind of cloudy and blustery - a nice Michigan cider mill day (DR Jane will understand...).
-
From Mom's I went to my favorite Starbuck's to celebrate National Coffee Day.

I had to separate this to respond. The wonderful images that flashed through my mind when reading it... The house in Franklin was a mistake, but living behind the Cider Mill was heaven.

Well, it's all relative, DR Jane. But, today was a better day than some I've had with her lately.

This creek ran through the ravine behind our house.

Oh, the fresh cider, the fresh donuts that looked like nothing and tasted incredible, watching them make both, and most of all...THE AROMA!

OK. I need to ask Keith if he knows where the photos are of our ravine.
-
They also sold the best, by far, best candy corn I have ever had. I wish I knew where they got it from. They sold Hickory Farm cheeses I could find anywhere else making them another fall treat.

I've heard that when you get very old, like into your 90s your ears start to grow again, but not feet.
I'd read that for some people, their ears and nose never stop growing, but I guess not everyone's does that.

Heading out to see COMPANY at DePauw University....we shall see what we shall see.

Back from a three-and-a-half mile jog - too hot, really, but needed to get it out of the way.
-
This is me with my Dad at Franklin Cider Mill, probably around 1954 or '55. Notice 1) how dressed up people are, and 2) the grease spots on the bag of donuts in Dad's left hand.

Another great picture, DR Ginny.
And pass me those doughnuts, will ya?

DR ChasSmith, this description by DR Jane is perfect!

Good evening!
-
Well, it didn't rain nearly as much as predicted. I had visions of wading through two feet of water after hearing the weather reports.
-
Not a fan of Steve McQueen. I think I've only seen 2 or 3 of his movies.
-
DR Ginny the photo is wonderful. The people I saw in suits were on their way to or from work, not just for a casual drop in. If you didn't eat the donuts hot you could taste that grease-lol

First thing in the morning and throughout the day I could smell the Cider Mill, giving me too much of an appetite.

I think so. Bryan was in 5th grade and Craig in 2nd grade when we moved there. Keith began working at Gale in Oct '67 and we didn't move until April '68.

Oh, that's much earlier than I'd thought! I graduated from high school in June '68, so you lived there while I was in college in Ann Arbor.
-
Well, it's time for me to be off to the theater. Last night's rehearsal was scheduled to go to 9:45, but they didn't need the whole time. Hopefully, tonight's rehearsal won't either. :)
Until later.

I wish I'd known about Franklin Cider Mills when I was at Meadowbrook for a couple of summers.

DR ChasSmith, Michigan's cider mill season only runs about Labor Day to Thanksgiving. If you were there for the summer, you might have missed it.

We moved there in April, 1988.
-
DR Ginny I thought you graduated high school much later than we did. Keith & I graduated in February '67.

Had a really good second rehearsal. And now, since I've only had a biscotti to tide me over, I must sup.

LOL, I was trying to figure out how you had a 5th grader in 1968! You moved to Michigan a couple of months before we moved into the house where we still live.

Seems to be 100 degrees out at 7:45. That's normal. Not.
-
Page three? REALLY?

Get me off this damn page.
-
Let's get some postin' goin' on.

Don't make me throw a hissy fit, you people.

DR Ginny I thought you graduated high school much later than we did. Keith & I graduated in February '67.
I should have graduated in January 1969, but took the second half of 8th grade in the summer of '64 in order to graduate in June of '68.

Good evening!

Our next to the last summer-like day.
-
It was a very nice 70 degrees.

Sandy and I had a nice lunch today.
-
We went to a barbecue joint in Issaquah.
-
It is about three doors down from The Village Theater where Fred and Skip presented THE LAST STARFIGHTER.
-
Interestingly enough, that Village Theater is now there First Stage Theater where they hold classes for young people.
-
Sandy and I had a nice lunch today.
Very nice. I got together with a friend today who drove over from the east coast. We had a nice lunch.
-
The new Village Theater is about a block away and on the other side of the street.
-
Their current production is PUMP BOYS AND DINETTES, which is a musical I avoid like the plague.
-
Jane, it was the second place I've been to here with a healthy respect for vegetarians. There must have been as much as 50 percent vegetable dishes on the menu. One that sounded delicious was a Reubenarian, a vegetable version of a Reuben made with mushrooms.
I got organic chicken instead. And house-made potato chips with a blue cheese sauce on them. Excellent.
-
Anyway, the brisket was very good and the smoked turkey that Sandy had was wonderful
-

I know that score by heart.
-
Issaquah is still the quaint little town that it was when I first met Fred and Skip.
-
Actually the traffic going to Sandy's place and back again were the best they have been since I started traveling up there.
-
Sandy was feeling pretty good today and he looked great.
-
You shouldn't mention brisket at this hour,TCB. I'll dream of it.
-
Nice photos, Ginny and Jane.
-
You shouldn't mention brisket at this hour,TCB. I'll dream of it.
There was enough that I could have sent you a doggie bag.
-
They offered cole slaw that was either mild or hot.
-
I picked the mild because I didn't know any better, and it was certainly mild, if not bland.
-
I had never been offered hot cole slaw.
-
I called my friend Betzy today and asked her if she would read the first 50 pages of my book.
-
I told her that it was a very rough draft, but I just wanted to know if I was to something or not.
-
She said she would love to read it, and she thanked me for trusting her with it.
-
I told her that I would need to go get some more ink before I could print it out.
-
She asked me why I didn't just e-mail it to her.
-
DUH! Why didn't I think of that.
-
I guess it just didn't feel like a real project if I didn't have a hard copy.
-
Bad phone connection here. And I'm losing consciousness. Good night, all.
-
Now I know better.
-
One more post.

-
I have taken the PATH train to and from Hoboken.
-
So John, what is hot cole slaw?
-
Shoe sizes differ based on where the shoes are made.
-
Shoes made outside of the United States always tend to vary in their sizes.
-
And yes, arches fall and feet flatten as we grow older.

I keep waiting for my phone to ring to let me know if I have been cast or not in IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE.

Supposedly, the calls are being made tonight.
-
I don't imagine they will call much later than 10:00 p.m.
-
They could call me any time.
-
But they probably don't know that.
-
I finally found out that a final season of GRIMM consisting of only 13 episodes will begin in January.
-
They will need all 13 episodes to sort out all of their story lines.
-
I think I am the only one of us that still watches GRIMM. Maybe Ron, too.
-
Well, I believe I am even more boring than usual.
-
Back from some food and a little meeting. I had a chili, cheese, and onion omelet and an English muffin.
-
And now I am listening to music.
