Well, you've read the notes, the notes were unsung then sung, and now it is time for you to post until the unsung cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: SKOOKUM!

First post after BK!

Good morning, all.
-
Most excellent video and pictures!
-
Well, it's Wednesday, and this evening I'm going to my friend's house with the home theater to see IT CAME FROM OUTER SPACE in newly restored 3-D and 3-channel stereo sound. Should be great fun.
-
Loved the notes!

And the video!

DITTO!
I already know I'll be in line for that myself in several years.
-
Good morning, all!
-
I slept well. I had several strange dreams, the weirdest being one that begaqn at the Met during a performance of Wagner's Der Walkure, a super production with valkyrie carrying naked dead men up to Valhalla on escalators, and ended with me walking in my sox and underwear through slush and snow as I tried to reach the Middletown Mall.
-
Today is a Joshie day. We should finish Act One of The King & I.
-
Where is our DR vixmom?
-
Wednesday.
-
Lovely notes and photos....it's like being there! Thanks to MR BK for sharing. I am anticipating the CD with much excitement.
-
Have a good lunch DR TCB.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Wednesday morning greetings! After 3 days in row of commitments, including 2 trips to Dayton, I'm glad to have a few days at home to catch up on paperwork, household stuff, reading, and crafting.
-
I hit the snooze button too many times today and am running late.
-
Good morning from the Big Apple!
-
Last night's show was "Falsettos." Paul liked it, me not so much. I see what you mean, DR elmore!
-
My question for ASK BK DAY: Do composers and lyricists get residuals for television showings of old movies on tv - i.e. Beach Blanket Bingo, Silk Stockings, Showboat.....
I know actors don't get residuals on pre-1960 work unless their contracts specifically included it.....but what about singers?
-
Cataract surgery tomorrow (6) morning.
Positive thoughts, please.
Many vibes.

Positive thoughts and good vibes!!!

Of course my hair looks exceptionally nice today so I can look good for an MRI machine. ;D
-
At least I will feel fresh while trapped inside that thing. I am sure my hair will no longer look good by the time I get out of it.
It is just my usual routine MRI, nothing new ::)
-
After reading my friend's recent, horrible reaction to her chemo treatment I will take some good vibes that the MRI remains routine and nothing is found.
-
Healthy MRI vibes to Jane!!!

Singers get something, and I'm sure the writers are covered, too.

I'm up, I'm up - seven-and-a-half hours of sleep.

Joshie and I finished Act one of The King & I. He is on to the City Center gala of Sunday in the Park with George. He learned the bad rehearsal was sooner than expected and he has things to prepare.

I wait for several things.

Two very good phone calls, one on Guys & Dolls and the other about two possible projects for Music Theatre International. I also got an email from my attorney and we will talk tomorrow about "intellectual property."
-
The MRI machines have come a long way since that first one at the NIH when former DR Penny accompanied me on my first visit for the 4 year study.
45 minutes I was stuck in that loud clunky thing without being able to move. The technician never said one word to me. I expected her to ask if I was ok and to give me a count down on how much time was left. Every inch of my body hurt. Had I only been in there for my benefit and not to help other people I would have yelled "get me out of here". Once I emerged Penny said I looked very angry. Angrily I said "I am!!!! Thanks to Penny being there I was able to laugh it off.
Over the years the machines have improved. Best of all was today at the testing center here. Twenty minutes in the most comfortable machine yet and the nighest technician I have had. The ear plugs worked so well it was never too loud, in fact I had trouble hearing her.

Is that Sunday in the Park With Jake DR ELMORE?

Don't worry. It can see right through you.

Great. Vibes for all projects.

Jane, I have to have an MRI every year. The only thing scary to me is the cost.

I can't remember what it costs with medicare. Do you also get the iv of dye in you?
-
Had an egg salad sandwich for lunch. I may take a day off from jogging - haven't done that in two or three weeks, but we'll see how I feel a bit later in the day.

I react to so many things but fortunately not this. The tape to hold down the needle isn't comfortable if I need to bend my arm but that is a temporary discomfort.
-
I have never had an MRI.
Count yourself very lucky.
-
Now that the process is greatly improved there are worse tests around.
-
Hello, everyone.
-
Eye surgery vibes to DR Druxy.
I hope the surgery is painless and successful and you recover quickly.

Jrand, I highly recommend Boiron's cough syrup. It knocks out coughs VERY quickly! Has honey in it so it tastes good, too. Available at health food stores.

I have a new therapist. His name is Erik and he does neuromuscular massage. He's a soft-spoken guy with a good knowledge of the body. I like him. Today was session #2. Last week he used a massage oil that had fragrance in it. I couldn't smell it, but it irritated my skin, so today he used a hypoallergenic oil. He seems confident that he can help me. I'll still need to return to Daniel, my Thai torturer, at some point, but hope to be in better shape by then, which may make those treatments easier.

Good news. Glad to hear it.

Thank you Jeanne. How are your eyes after all this time?
-
I learned that UCLA will no longer be working with my health insurance carrier, so I'll have to go through the Medicare drill all over again. Grrrr. It can be very time-consuming. At least this time I know a lot more about what to look for. I also have an insurance agent who specializes in Medicare. He's a help and it costs me nothing, as he's paid a commission by whomever I sigh up with. It's likely to mean higher co-pays and maybe less coverage. So grrr again.

My eyes are OK. If I hadn't had cataracts I don't know that I'd be happy, as there are trade-offs. I can see pretty well without glasses, but wouldn't want to drive without them. I think it was one year ago today that I had the first surgery. I'm very glad it's behind me.

It amazes me how often people are shocked what they use will bothers me, yet I know I am not the only sensitive person out there.

If it doesn't bother them, they can't imagine that it would bother someone else. "This bothers you?" They're incredulous. As if we all have the same bodies. I'm surprised, though, that the smell didn't bother me, while it bothered my skin. Usually the smell would bother me.

One reason I have been wearing my contacts faithfully is to get used to lousy close up vision. Your surgeries seemed so much more complicated than the typical distance correction.
After 8 years of great distance vision Keith has had a change of his vision in one eye due to his astigmatism. I thought the surgery corrected that. Now I am no long looking forward to cataract surgery and hope it is a long, long time before I need it.
Because of the MRI I am wearing my glasses instead of my contacts. I do see better, almost make me want to stop wearing the contacts.

My surgeries were more complicated. (1) Because I had the Toric implant to fix both the astigmatism and my vision, and (2) because there was such a big difference between my two eyes after the first surgery, i.e., a big difference between my natural vision (extremely nearsighted) and my new vision (slightly nearsighted). That's why I couldn't drive; both eyes--and your brain--have to work as a team and there was too big of a difference between my two eyes at first. And (3) they insisted on using antibiotics, even though I explained that I'm allergic to them. I really feel they should have worked with me more on that, but they have a "roll 'em in, roll 'em out" approach.
-
Your eyes do continue to change, even though the implant itself does not.
My cousin had cataract surgery, probably around the same time Keith did. For a long time she just needed off-the-shelf reading glasses, but now she needs a weak prescription. I really wish they explained more of this to patients, but nobody wants to take the time. Most of us learn the hard way or through friends.

Well, it's time for me to go to a production meeting then rehearsal.
Be back later.

Keith had the toric implant as well. I thought your vision correction was for close up vs the distance vision correction he had. Can you read without glasses? He doesn't need glasses for distance but needs them for reading.

He just got new reading glasses with an adjustment on the one eye.

Was it enclosed or were the sides open? I've only been in an MRI machine once and it was horrible. It was like being in a coffin (i am claustrophobic). And the noise level was very loud (and i was being tested for having migraines). It was awful. Although there was a person talking me through it.
-
I am face down which REALLY helps with claustrophobia since you can't see. It is a tube and open on both ends. My head and body are inside the tube.
-
I would not want to have this great bear encounter ;D
Be sure to read the story with it.

I always keep my eyes closed. It's easier to fall asleep in the process that way.

Had fun going to a salsa class in the park tonight. I couldn't move my feet well on the cement, but it was fun being outdoors.
-
I just hope I don't start sneezing from the ragweed in the air.
-
Vibes for DR JEANNE...and thanks for the recommendation.
-
Watching a fascinating extra from A Master Builder with Fran Liebowitz interviewing Wallace Shawn and Andre Gregory.
-
And more vibes for DR Jeanne.

Back home, and just about ready to call it a night.
IT CAME FROM OUTER SPACE is great fun early 1950s science fiction, but especially when restored to a perfect 3-D image that's probably better than what any 1953 audience enjoyed.

I can sleep through almost anything. One of the side effects of apnea.
-
Did do a two-and-a-half mile jog and then watched the first half of Stephen King's It - the 1990 TV movie.
-
Good evening!
-
Page 4? Really?
-
I had a good day today.
-
The restaurant was interesting.
-
The waitress started out by going section by section of the menu telling us what wasn't available today.
-
By the time she got to the sandwich section, she said it was easier to list what was available rather than what wasn't available.
-
She claimed that they didn't get their "shipment" that morning.
-
One of the things that wasn't available was spaghetti with meat balls. WTF?
-
Anyway, I ordered the rigatoni with meat sauce and it was fantastic.
-
I ordered the full portion which was $15.00. Only complaint (besides the price) was that it didn't come with a salad.
-
The Panini sandwiches came with a choice of Caesar or tossed salad, but nothing came with the entrees.
-
I could have ordered a salad but it was the principle of the thing.
-
Still I would go back for the rigatoni.
-
It looked like we would have heavy rain today, so I took the wheelchair.
-
It turned out we had one light sprinkle and that was that.
-
But God was I exhausted when I got home from lunch.
-
One more post.
-
Five
-
I guess I am out of shape with the wheelchair, even though I still use it around the apartment.
-
I had a good morning of writing today.
-
In fact, I got so busy writing that I almost forgot to go to lunch
-
Another chapter is finished. Still I think there is too much dialogue, but I am going to go with it for now, and I can always change it later.
-
Tomorrow is a stay at home day, which means I can write as long as I wish.
-
Tomorrow is supposed to be free from rain until tomorrow evening.
-
I'm up, I'm up - oh, wait... I did that already.
-

I am glad apnea has a good side effect :-\
-
Cleaned up a chair that had so much crap piled on it I could stand it no more. Now there's a neat and small pile on it.
-
Still I would go back for the rigatoni.
Order the salad and take home half the rigatoni for dinner.
-
I should run some errands before the rain returns, but I really want to stay home and write.
-
But Friday and Saturday are supposed to be wet.
-
Decisions, decisions!
-
I guess I will wait and see how I feel in the morning.
-
Rain?
-
The heat wave is over and it's a bit chilly here.
-
My first rehearsal is scheduled for October 17.
-
My friend, Tracy, has the number one seniority of the six lucky(?) employees who will get to keep working.
-
All the rest who do her job will be out the door effective December 4. Happy Holidays!
-
UNDERPANTS

The heat wave is over and it's a bit chilly here.
Now all you need is rain.

My friend, Tracy, has the number one seniority of the six lucky(?) employees who will get to keep working.
Is this the same friend who had to drop out of the play?

She hasn't dropped out yet.
-
I hope she doesn'the have to, and still be employed.
-
She is safe through the first two weeks of the play.
-
I hope she doesn'the have to, and still be employed.
She will probably still be employed, but with a cut in pay.
-
But still employed.
-
But still employed.
Yes, but with 12-hour shifts, and having to work every other weekend.
-
Did do a two-and-a-half mile jog and then watched the first half of Stephen King's It - the 1990 TV movie.
What a coinkydink! I'm watching The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and he's doing a segment on the great number of clown sightings that have been happening around the country recently. :o
-
PAGE SIX DANCE!!
-
Well, I'm officially posting from my new Windows 10 computer!
-
My friend, Tracy, has the number one seniority of the six lucky(?) employees who will get to keep working.
Well, getting to keep working is something. :-\
