Well, you've read the notes, the notes took five, and now it is time for you to post until the five cows come home - they're currently listening to some Dave MOObeck.
-
And the word of the day is: LAVATION!
-
First post after BK!
-
Am i first after BK? Really?
-
I guess TCB snuck in there! :)
-
As the saying goes: he who, um, um, hesitates is lost!
-
BK, are TAKE FIVE and TIME OUT the same piece? I got a little confused reading the notes.
-
Of course, I may have misread the notes.
-
Time Out is the name of the album that has Take Five on it.
-
Can't stop listening but I really should get to bed.
-
Good night, Bruce.
-
good morning to all
-
Never realized the incredible output of music that Dave Brubeck had. Those 19 albums on the box set that BK mentions is only a fraction of his output. He actually started recording two years prior to the start of this collection (1954) and ended his association with Columbia two years after this collection. (1968). There are 25 additional albums he made for the label.
There were also 69 other albums he made for other labels such as Fantasy, Decca, Atlantic, Telarc and Naxos. He also went back to Columbia for a few additional albums.
-
Good morning.
-
DR Elmore, I answered your question last night.
-
Good morning, all.
-
OMG, a blessed day at home.
Yesterday was fun, and yet hellish due to the prior night of awful sleep, and I need a day of rest and relaxation.
-
I liked the photo of the anniversary dinner that featured the bridge in DR JANE's video.
-
I also like the DJ story in the notes.....from one of those books by that guy.....
-
Good morning!
-
Glad to hear that our PNW members are okay!
-
I figured out how to upload s
Some of the pictures to photobucket but I can't figure out how to link them here I can do it from my laptop.but I don't have that with me
-
I enjoyed the notes I remember calling in and speaking with the did at my local station in my early teens.
-
The local station also had a program dj for a day when they would choose teens to be on the air for an hour on a Saturday afternoon you got to choose your own music and spoke between the selections, introduced the records and commercials
-
I did that twice it was quite enjoyable
-
I am glad to hear the storm of the century blew away
-
I never understand these people who complain that t death and destruction did not arrive insread of being grateful that ths storm turned
-
We are back at the steam train, today we are having a noontime dinner on the dining car
-
I remember calling into a few stations, too, and if the person or DJ actually running the program didn't pick up, they came to the phone right away... and I was always rewarded with patience, understanding of the question, and answers.
Holy moley, what did I just say? When does that happen today, in just about anything?
A couple that immediately come to mind:
KCRW-FM, about something I thought was wrong with a classical recording they were playing. That one was really interesting, as it resulted in me being permitted to make a visit to the station to personally examine the recording in question.
KFAC-FM, "the" L.A. classical station, regarding transmission issues with the Metropolitan Opera broadcasts that used to travel - not always reliably - over the nation's telephone lines back in the day.
-
Well, I do believe it's time to pull out the remaining batter and enjoy some buckwheat pancakes.
-
Good morning, all!
-
I plan to remain indoors and mostly in bed today. I feel better than yesterday, but something has taken me down and I need to shake it.
-
DR Laura, I did get your message. Are you attending the matinee on Saturday?
-
DR vixmom, after spend parts of four summers at East Haddam I know the area quite well. Businesses never seemed to last in East Haddam. It was as though once the Goodspeed season finished, the bakery/restaurant.ice cream parlor /souvenir shop went out of business/
I have lived in haunted houses, but East Haddam and Cohoes, NY, are two haunted areas where there seem to be ghosts on every corner. It's a bit creepy after dark. When I did the Jones-Schmidt show Mirette at Goodspeed, Harvey, Tom and his family and I stayed in a house that was really thriving with paranormal activity.
-
I think some toast might be nice with my coffee.
-
DR Elmore, yes, 2 p.m.
-
So, how many donuts do I need to take?
-
It is going to be a mess on campus that day. Way too crowded. I wish they wouldn't schedule shows during homecoming week.
-
So, how many donuts do I need to take?
A box. Can I help you pay for them?
-
DR Ginny, you might find this interesting:

DR Elmore, yes, 2 p.m.
I just sent him a Facebook message to check on next Saturday. As soon as I hear from him, I'll let you know.
-
I liked the photo of the anniversary dinner that featured the bridge in DR JANE's video.
That is why I chose it to be the first one I shared. Alas, it was the only one. I will try again in a little while.
-
Glad to hear that our PNW members are okay!
Thank you. I have a friend in outside of Portland who lost her power yesterday afternoon for 7 hours. I am feeling very lucky we didn't loose ours.
-
I never understand these people who complain that t death and destruction did not arrive insread of being grateful that ths storm turned
Mind boggling. I suppose they wanted to talk about how they lived through the record breaking storm. Idiots.
-

Nice :)

I just wondered if I should take enough so he can share them with everyone. With The Sound of Music, that would be a huge number of donuts!

Nope. Just for him. From me and you. The cast is well-paid. they can get trheir own damned donuts. Tell him the donuts are for him and Merwin (who plays Max). Merwin Foard is one of the funniest people I know. He does a mean Elivs.
I just got his reply:
Of course! I'll be on the lookout for her!

I made the avocado mold this morning. I'm not used to molds. Here's hoping it wiggles its way out in one piece.

Spent last night at a wedding reception for a chef friend and his now wife. Very nice couple. Glad they got together.
And the reception, of course, featured great food, made by chef friends of theirs.
-
Great photos. Thanks, Vixmom, for sharing -- and Jane!
-
DR Vixmom the train photo is missing.
-
I've been up for around two hours with FB and HHW and I'm going back to bed.
-
I'm up, I'm up - nine hours of sleep.
-
Richard Sherman will be by after he eats his lunch, so I may try to jog in about twenty minutes.
-
Nice photos!
-
Elmore, I'll get some awesome donuts on Saturday. Just one box.
-

Ben loves his donuts!
-
Waiting for Richard Sherman to arrive. Jog is up in the air at the moment as it's been lightly drizzling out, but after Richard leaves I'll determine whether I can do one or not - frankly I could use a day off - I haven't had a non-jog day in over three weeks. And dinner is at five-thirty - I was hoping for The Smoke House but alas it can't be, but I'm definitely doing a night there this week.
-
Randy and Jo have sold their house and purchased this one. I've told them I'm moving in in June, spending the summer in the pool, and moving back to Manhattan in September.

I have no idea.

Sunday evening greetings! Richard and I went to the nearby Presbyterian church today for their annual "Kirking of the Tartans" service. It was very Scottish, complete with bagpipes & drums. We saw many friends, including some other former Methodists.
-
After church we came home, changed clothes, and went to Hamilton for lunch at a deli Richard likes. Did some Target and Kroger shopping on the way home.
-
Rob and Mary Linda were home when we got here and we've been hearing about their camping trip to Red River Gorge in Kentucky.

Any Gilbert & Sullivan fans out there? Oxford University Press is publishing the full score of The Yeomen of the Guard in early November. This will be the fifth (?) G&S full score to be published commercially:

When I first read this, I read it as $900.00! :o
Glad it's less than $100...not that I would need a full score of anything.
;)

And now, I'm off to dinner with the family.
Until later.

Thank you Jane and George for getting my pictures posted here!!
-
Hello, everyone.
-
What a GREAT photo of Vixmom and Vixdad! A real classic.
And, vixmom, you are looking so healthy! No one would guess all the troubles you've had.
-
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY to VIXMOM and VIXDAD!
-
BK's toilet had the same problem my toilet had last week. think it's contagious?
-
Feel-better vibes to DR Elmore.
-
John G, are you feeling better now?
-
Congrats to Randy and Jo.
May they--and Elmore--enjoy the new house.
-
The DJ BK spoke to when he was fourteen may no longer be with us, but I think he'd enjoy knowing that BK became a record producer.
-
When I heard that the Pacific Northwest was expecting a storm I was sooo jealous. Rain! We'd love some. But I am glad there wasn't much damage.
-
A good week ahead to all!
-
TTFN.
-
I just finished watching the first of Mr Whicher's Suspicions. Whicher was one of Conan Doyle's sources for Sherlock Holmes.
-
Thank you Jeanne, for the kind words
-
Feel better vibes for Elmore
-
The 2 1/2 hour trip home took 5 hours
-
And I am tired.

Good night all

Which is one of the reasons we live in Middletown. We couldn't even afford our house in the Cincinnati or Dayton 'burbs, much less on one of the coasts. Richard's cousin said almost 30 years ago that our home would be three-quarter million dollars where she lives - Santa Monica.
-
Thank you Jane and George for getting my pictures posted here!!
You are welcome.
The photo of the train looks much better than it did on my phone or in my email :)
-

We had enough of a break today to go for a 4 mile walk.

Not a fun ending to your fabulous weekend.

One of the reasons we have not moved back to California.
-
DR Vixmom I wish we had known about this charming area of Haddam when we lived in Connecticut. We were only about an hour from there and could have taken a day trip.
-
Such great photos.....and a great new house in the ELMORE family.
-
Keith wanted to see THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN. Denzel Washington is always good, even in bad movies. ;D
It was what I expected. Keith was hoping for more, which is why I suppose he wanted to see it.
-
It really wasn't bad, it just isn't the THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN.
-
I did end up doing a two-and-a-half mile jog. Dinner was fun - ironically we ended up at Du-Par's, where I had the exact same thing I had last night.

All is good. Thank you for asking.

I just finished watching the first of Mr Whicher's Suspicions. Whicher was one of Conan Doyle's sources for Sherlock Holmes.
And how was it?
-
Went dancing tonight. Live band. Lot of fun and a lot of people out looking for getting the last drop out of the weekend.
-
I'm watching the 10th episode of the Dekalog. Suddenly, the filmmakers have developed a sense of humor. Where was this in the other chapters?
-
Still listening to Brubeck - right now it's the album Brandenburg Gate: Revisited - I've never heard it before. The tune Brandenburg Gate had first been done on an earlier album, so I wondered what the revisited part was - well, that tune is now an eighteen-minute track for quartet and symphony orchestra - who knew? It's absolutely fantastic - the whole album features the orchestra. Instant classic.
-
Good evening!
-
A mostly dry day around here.
-
Well, I have been dry for a long time, but you know what I meant.
-
Today was basically a day away from writing.
-
I was going to input all of Betzy's corrections, but I will wait and do that tomorrow.
-
Today was all football, all the time.
-
The Seahawks won a nail-biter.
-
Greetings, 3 Guests!
-
What is your favorite fast food restaurant?
-
I had to order pizza for dinner because I didn't finish my beef stew.
-
Is there any such thing as a good potato peeler?
-
Either potatoes are getting thicker skins of peelers are becoming worthless.
-
I think tomorrow will be a stay at home and do some cleaning.
-
Tomorrow night will be our first rehearsal / read-through for IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE.
-
I guess we finally found an Uncle Billy. It is a great role, I don't know why it was so hard to cast.

AARRGGHH!! There's a spider on my bedroom ceiling and it's over my stairs so I can't get to it! :P

My 3 Guests have run away!
-
George, how was dinner? What did your mom serve?
-
I just finished watching a movie that I got from the library, Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00NGL7J68/). It was pretty good. The special effects were pretty gory and the (simple) story was not stupid, like a lot of these kinds of movies can be. I liked it.
-

I don't have any rubber bands. But fortunately, it eventually moved closer to where I could get it, so I did.
-
George, how was dinner? What did your mom serve?
She made meatloaf and mashed potatoes. The mashed potatoes were instant, but I like instant mashed potatoes. The meatloaf was really good, too. I brought home some leftovers. :)

When do you start rehearsals for your holiday show?
Sometime in November, but I don't know exactly when...yet.

When does it open?
