Well, you've read the notes, the notes took longer to read than three seconds, and now it is time for you to post until the three cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: APOTHEOSIS!
-
And the word of the day is: APOTHEOSIS!
What a coinkydink! That word is mentioned in the last short play of "An Improbable Peck of Plays 5."
Just had to share. :)
-
First and second posts after BK!
-
Good morning!

Eggplant purple!

This makes Three Second posts

Good night!

Good morning to all

My friend, filmmaker Ted V. Mikels, has passed away.
Ted shot and edited my first movie that I directed and, later, I did publicity for a couple of the movies he directed.
Ted was the "king" of "schlock horror" movies and I doubt that many of you have seen his pictures (e.g. THE ASTRO-ZOMBIES).
They were not my cup of tea, either.
But, he was a fascinating person and he did know how to make a film...cheap.

RE: BK's story about Claus Ogerman -
Reminds me of the time that I was buying/selling autographs on ebay.
I'd "won" an autographed photo of John Gielgud. The package arrived and just as I was opening it, I heard on TV that Gielgud had died.

TOD:
I don't know if they were life changing, but three songs that have certainly stuck with me from my youth:
Moments to Remember
The Wayward Wind
Thunder Road
-
Good morning, all.
-
Day Two of our three-day "unseasonable" heat.
Which I'm enjoying, thankyouverymuch, and I'll be sad to see it go.
-
Druxy - so sorry to hear about the loss of your friend.
-
Good morning, all!
-
I'm up, moving about but I cannot say that my mind mind is moving as quickly as my body. I'm looking at the mess of reading matter lying on the floor next to my bed, and all vI can think is, duh . . .
-
As soon as things start functioning, I'll decide what to do about it.
-
I hope today to finish the first half of Act Two. Tomorrow I will go to City Center to visit Joshie. He will be away all of next week, opening the King & I tour.
-
Maybe coffee would help.
-
TOD:
A pair of classical discoveries rocked the boat on one evening in the summer between high school and college. A friend and I went to the house of another friend of his (I have no idea now who that was), and he introduced us both to Mahler's SECOND (on the Columbia reel-to-reel tape of the Bernstein/Jennie Tourel recording), and Orff's CARMINA BURANA (likewise, the Ormandy recording). These two bombshells in one evening were as life changing as Gershwin's PORGY AND BESS, Rodgers' SOUTH PACIFIC, and Bernstein's WEST SIDE STORY had been in the several years prior to that.
As a footnote, that evening was equally responsible for kicking off a love for reel-to-reel tape.
(And yes, another SECOND.)
-
That Ormandy Carmina Burana was truly an amazing recording! The Orff piece (what's an Orff?) was relatively unknown then and now it's a pops orchestra favorite, and God knows what movie previews could do without it.
-
and God knows what movie previews could do without it
No kidding. And I'll take it a silly step further: What movie previews (and probably some actual scores) could do without having their over-the-top action scene music being hugely orchestral AND choral, AND in D minor - the key of both "O Fortuna" and "Fortune plango vulnera", the two opening choruses and the music most used and imitated?
-
(I had to look up the second chorus title. I ain't that smart.)
-
DR Drury, my condolences on the loss of your friend.

I love The Wayward Wind.
-
TOD: Besides the OBC albums of Annie Get Your Gun, South Pacific, My Fair Lady, Flower Drum Song, Can-Can (which I played all of them to death), we had an album of classics conducted by Eugene Ormandy. The Nutcracker was on there, and I loved parts of that. Same with Peer Gynt. But the one that really got me, and that I played over and over again on our Sears Silvertone record player was "Clair de Lune." I wanted to know what it meant. And I'd play it before going to bed. The cast albums and Debussy started me on my way.
-
Good morning, all.
-
My sympathies, DR Drury. I like the sounds of Astro-Zombies. May have to look for that one.
-
TOD:
The soundtrack to Mary Poppins when I was really little. Then Sound of Music soundtrack. There was a George M. Cohan collection and then A Little Night Music OBC became an obsession.
Percy Faith did a Borodin album after Kismet that I played to death. As for classical music, I saw Michael Tilson Thomas conduct an outdoor performance of Mahler's First that just blew my mind.
-
Lovely notes.....
Happy Anniversary Yesterday to DR VIXMOM & Co.
What a lovely evening DR GINNY.
-
Page Two.
-
I think early rock n roll music was an eye opener for me.....including "Heartbreak Hotel" and "Rock Around the Clock."
And the song from "Hole in the Head" I think....."High Hopes"......
-
My first LP was The Kirby Stone Four.....fun!
-
A friend of mine with a food truck just posted a picture on that other site of his chicken-fried cheeseburger with cheese gravy. I'll be thinking of little else for the rest of the day.
-
First half of Act Two edits are sent in. My day is my own. I am all dressed up with nowhere to go. i will call Joshie.
-
I'm up, I'm up - seven hours of sleep.
-
Tuesday afternoon greetings! We are back from downtown Dayton, where we attended "Bagels & Broadway" at the Schuster Center for the load-in of JERSEY BOYS. We won't get to see the show this time, but we've seen it there before and in Chicago and New York. Did a couple of errands on the way home and had lunch at a deli we like in Springboro. I might need a nap...
-
DR Elmore, we drove past Randy & Jo's new house on the way to and from Dayton. It's one I've noticed before and admired the pool deck. The thing I like best is that, when you're staying there and come here for dinner, you won't have that long, dark drive back to West Middletown. They'll feel like they've moved into the city.

They are really excited about the move. They also love the fact they will not have to deal wth the Macbeths any more.
-
I just had a lovely phone conversation with a nice young man from Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts, who will be consulting with me soon about my dilemma.
-
Guess I'll go get something to eat.
-
So sorry, Druxy, about the passing of your friend.
Every death that touches our lives diminishes us in some ways.

TOD:
Popular music:
Mason Williams' "Classical Gas"

Semi-classical music:
Elmer Bernstein's "To Kill A Mockingbird"
Ernest Gold's "Exodus"
Miklos Rozsa's "El Cid"
Alfred Newman's "How the West Was Won"
Alex North's "Spartacus"

Will be participating in an Asthma Clinic for a couple of hours this afternoon.
I hope I find it useful and that some of what they tell me can be applied to my "worst" moments.

Closer to DR Ginny and not having to deal with the Macbeth's. You will enjoy your next visit.

Will be leaving work in 20 minutes for my clinic appointment.

Asthma Clinic vibes for DR RLP

Back from the same sandwich as yesterday, California Melt, and this time a small thing of sweet potato fries because I felt I deserved a little treat. I'll jog in a couple of hours and hopefully work some of the latter off. The sandwich itself is pretty calorie friendly.
-
Picked up a couple of packages.
-
Now listening to some music - listened to Robert Ward's The Crucible last last night and this morning - what a masterpiece. Then I uploaded a bunch of CDs that feature Ogerman arrangements - mostly George Benson, Bill Evans, and Stan Getz this go round.
-
I just got the rough mix for the 2016 "Carols for A Cure" track of the duet from Moonshine & Mistletoe. It sounds pretty good.
-
TCB & Ron, ;D
-
Page two? Really?
-
I shall now jog and if we're not on page three by the time I return there will be hell toupee.

Nice!
-
Listening to a lot of Stan Getz - great stuff - Ogerman, Schifrin, Richard Evans, Eddie Sauter - the creme de la creme of arrangers/orchestrators.

Randy and I are hoping! It's no longer Macbeth calling the shots. the Macbeths' greed is what kiboshed selling it.

Yep! All in all, it hasn't been a bad day. I wish the Big announcement would come through.

Well, we're all waiting very patiently!

And now, I'm off to dinner at the west side Olympia Five Guys Burgers joint. It's not my favorite (a bit expensive and noisy), but the food and the company will be good.
Be back later.

More vibes for Ron P!

Cheese gravy?

Ordered. I look forward to the new Carols each Christmas. It's become one of my annual traditions.

Oh. My. GAWD! I want that!! :D
Exactly.
-
I had spicy calamari for dinner instead.
-
That's squid.
-
And that concludes my performance in Italian.
-
Where is everybody tonight?
-
Donde esta la gente?
-
And that concludes my performance in Spanish.
-
Started listening to Greek CDs today.
-
Don't know how to spell any of it.
-
But I think I learned yes, no and the Greek word for Greek.
-
The rest of it is just a bit too much.
-
Four!
-
Hello, 0 guests.
-
What's your favorite Sean Connery movie?
-
I just settled down with Cuba. Have never seen it, and I'm really enjoying it so far.
-
Page five? Really?
-
Ages ago, I met Brooke Adams and her sister, Lynne, when they ran a theater company in upstate New York with Jamie Donnelly and a few others.
-
She's really beautiful in this movie.
-
Page five? Really?
No. page four. Really.
-
And what a supporting cast: Jack Weston, Chris Sarandon, Martin Balsam, Lonette McKee, Hector Elizondo, Denholm Elliott.
-
Cranberries!
-
Underpants!
-
Gratuitous Post No. 101.
-
Page four? REALLY?
-
This time, it is really page four.
-
Watched half a motion picture but will finish it tomorrow night.
-
Brooke's performance has begun to fall apart.
-
And this attempt to make a Cuban revolution-era Casablanca just keeps reaching for something better than it is.
-
Still, I'm enjoying it as an escapist political thriller.
-
I think it's time for bed.
-
Someone else will have to take us on to page five.
-
Really.
-
Good night, all.
-
It has been an all British night for us.
-
First we watched the man with the beautiful hair ;)
-
AKA POLDARK.
-
Then we watched the adventures of Tommy and Tuppance.
-
AKA PARTNERS IN CRIMES, the 2015 tv series.
The actress who is Tuppance is Jessica Rainer who was also Jenny on CALL THE MIDWIFE.
-
We then watched a zany comedy called COUNT ARTHUR STRONG.
The first season was in 2013 and the second season in 2015.
-
Listening to George Benson - don't always love the R&B flavor, but Ogerman's work is masterful, as always.
-
Good evening!
-
Page 5
-
Hello, Jane !
-
I am home from rehearsal.
-
I think we blocked all my scenes tonight.
-
So, I may be done for the week.
-
She will let me know later.
-
So, I might be able to watch ROCKY HORROR on Thursday.
-
Perhaps I will skip ROCKY HORROR. The reviews are good, except for Laverne Cox who is totally miscast. Well, duh!
-
A female Dr. Frank-n-furter was a bad idea to begin with.
-
Fox needs to learn the difference between a transvestite and a transsexual.
-
Adam Lambert should not have turned down the role.
-
Today was a clean-up a chapter day in the writing room. Actually I think I cleaned up three chapters.
-
Tomorrow I am back to wring new material.
-
Jane, the stew was better with vegetables.
-
It still wasn't that good, however.
-
It needed more seasonings (especially salt).
-
Took a shower, and listening now to the Jerry Ross Symposium - with orchestrations by Mr. Ogerman. I'm afraid Mr. Benson, save for his Abby Road cover album isn't to my liking - it's all a little too much the same. The Jerry Symposium on the other hand is right up my alley and it's odd that I've never heard any of this before.
-
Nicky is supposed to go see his doctor tomorrow.
-
My stomach is already tied up in knots over the whole thing.
-
He just hates everything about it.
-
The carrier, the car ride, the doctor's office.....
-
He doesn't just cry, he screams.
-
Hopefully my friend Betzy said she would ride along with me.
-
Where is George tonight?
-
I know he said he was going to some burger place for dinner.
-
Five Guys Burgers? Was that it?
-
And now, I'm off to dinner at the west side Olympia Five Guys Burgers joint. It's not my favorite (a bit expensive and noisy), but the food and the company will be good.
Be back later.
The burger that I had was pretty darned good. My friend also liked his, but agreed that it was kinda pricey.

Do the burgers come with fries?
-
Do the burgers come with fries?
No. Everything is a la cart...fries, drinks, etc. My friend and I split the small fries.
