Well, you've read the notes, the notes were living, and now it is time for you to post until the living cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: GLAUCOUS!
-
First post after BK!
-
Listening to Edward Rubbra - a wonderful Brit composer, filled with gorgeous melody. Currently up is symphony number three. I haven't heard these in so long it's like finding an old friend. These came out on CD in the early 90s.
-
Good morning, all!
-
I have to be at City Center early this morning to look over the King & I Overture with Joshie, who has to be at the Sunday in the Park with George dress at 12:30. Maybe I'll run into Jake Gyllenhall while I'm there?
-
DR TCB, I'm sorry about the restroom situation, but I honestly hope that you will not drop out of the production. I cannot speak for you, but I find my semi-retirement a real downer on my life. If I could stand without strain, I might be more enthusiastic about volunteer work, but sometimes having the money for the bus adds to the difficulty of getting around.
Much as I like days at home, being forced to remain there can be a depressing situation.
-
DR vixmom, I hope the outcome of all tests this weekend are to your advantage! Tell Dr dlu shot I said howdy. I saw him two weeks ago.

Speaking of Jake Gyllenhaal, did anyone see the play he was in, CONSTELLATIONS, and thus know what the photo shown in this article was all about?

Larry, for someone in semi-retirement, you seem wonderfully active and busy!!!
-
Even with all the aches and pains!
-
TCB - do you have enough room in your home, or is there a community room of some sort nearby, so that they could rehearse just your scenes there just until they can get into the theatre? or are there insurance issues about something like that?
It would be an unfortunate reason to have to drop out if something could be done about it.
-
More test vibes for vixmom!
I will spare you the version of "Mr. Flu Shot" to the tune of "Mr. Sandman" that's running through my head. :)
-
Healing vibes for TCB's Nicky!
-
Larry, for someone in semi-retirement, you seem wonderfully active and busy!!!
Compared to my life four years ago before this health issue, DR FJL, my time is wide open. The Guys & Dolls work is dependent on the speed of my colleague Jason's getting work to me, and it's sporadic. I go to City Center maybe twice a week to help Joshie but that's a not a paying job, just helping out a friend. The Gentlemen, Be Seated! work is finished, and all I currently have in the way of paying work besides Guys & Dolls is a couple of choral commissions.
Something's afoot that will come in the Big Announcement, and I wait.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Oh, what a blessed sleep I had. What a difference from this time yesterday.
-
Vive la différence!

Oh, go on. We can take it.
-
Good morning to all
-
It looks like this coming week is going to be the best time for my fall visit to beautiful SW Ohio. I would drive over on Wednesday and return Saturday. That's a quick one, but it needs to be a quick one this time.
Note to DR Jrand66: I'm afraid that won't leave me the extra time for a hop over your way this trip. I will happily build that into my next visit in the spring.
-
Six month checkup vibes to vixmom!
-
Employment and Big Announcement vibes to DR Elmore!
-
Accessibility vibes to DR TCB!
-
Foot dicing vibes to DR Laura!
-
Miracle vibes to BK!
-
I'm happy to see that The Sound of Music tour will be playing in a few locations in the northeast in the early spring.
-
DR TCB sorry to hear about the rehearsal space situation. Um how is that wheelchair accessible?? They should find a different rehearsal space. That is very unfair to you. Hopefully you won't have to drop out. :(
-
Employment and Big Announcement vibes to DR Elmore!
Yes, and more vibes from here!
-
IT is so windy today. Everything is blowing like crazy.

By George, I've got it! :)

There's no stopping me now.
Let's celebrate with a li'l music joke, shall we?

Sunday morning greetings! We are about to embark on our road trip. Our ultimate destination is Richmond, VA, for a clergy meeting, but we're doing a little vacationing on the way. Tonight's stop is near Beckley, WV.
-
DR Ginny, I envy you the road trip. That's going to be a particularly beautiful one, going through "deep" West Virginia and all. I haven't been down that way since I was a kid.
Have a wonderful time!
-
I love most of the Budd Boetticher/Randolph Scott films. Indeed, Budd used to be my publicity client.
On my wall, I have a framed lobby card from THE TALL T, signed by Budd and Randolph Scott.
-
We watched THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW last night.
Very disappointed.
The original movie was so much better.
:(

Good morning.
Mr. Flu Shot visited me a couple weeks ago. In the late afternoon. I guess I am out of luck.
-
This morning I made pesto from basil grown in the backyard, and I diced hot peppers, also from the back yard. My foot survived without being diced.
-
And it will be hiking boots at church today, as I am working in the kitchen for the funeral and will be on my feet for hours.
-
I tried to watch the horror picture show a couple of times. I simply could not get into it at all.
I did watch this, though.

Monday rehearsal vibes for MR BK & Co.
I am enjoying reading about all of the classical music CD's even though I am left in the dust about most of them.
-
DR TCB that's a bummer about the rehearsal space. Maybe rehearsals for your scenes could be changed and done when you get to the theatre. As a director, I would accommodate you in that way.
-
DR LAURA I am sure the donuts were shared. Actors are very good like that.....wait a minute.....maybe not.
-
Travel vibes for DR GINNY and DH RICHARD.
Next spring will be fine DR CHAS SMITH, I may be in rehearsals for CURTAINS then and you can see the theatre.
-
Today we have our annual meeting with reports, etc.....and the presentation of the UPSTAGE AWARD, which I was NOT nominated for this year.....
-
And now I will say....it is official.....I am at 199.8 lbs.....thinner than I have been since 2004.
I hope to lose another 6-7 pounds just to have a small leeway in case I want to eat over the holidays!

I am so jealous! And I am home from visiting Joshie. The King & I orchestration is now ready for Wednesday's first rehearsal in Providence RI. Joshie did beautiful work.
-
It's a lovely day today
So whatever you've got to do
You've got a lovely day to do it in, that's true
-
And it will be hiking boots at church today, as I am working in the kitchen for the funeral and will be on my feet for hours.
Who died?
-
Larry, for someone in semi-retirement, you seem wonderfully active and busy!!!
It seems the same to me even if you are not as busy as you would like to be.
SENDING MONEY VIBES!!!!
-
Oh, what a blessed sleep I had. What a difference from this time yesterday.
I am envious, though I am very grateful for the 3 hours of sleep I had this morning.

I have not attempted to watch the show at all. It simply does not appeal to me and I am glad Keith feels the same way.

Congratulations! My opinion is always to drop extra pounds before I am in the situation where I might eat too much. Of course, not overeating would be the smarter move ;)
-
I just got back from a used book store where I found a copy of director Edward Dmytryk's autobiography for $5.95.
Dmytryk, who directed MURDER, MY SWEET, CROSSFIRE, THE CAINE MUTINY, BROKEN LANCE,THE YOUNG LIONS and many other films, was my publicity client for several years.
Best of all, the book was signed.
-
I'm up, I'm up - a little over ten hours of glorious sleep.
-
DR Ginny, I envy you the road trip. That's going to be a particularly beautiful one, going through "deep" West Virginia and all. I haven't been down that way since I was a kid.
Have a wonderful time!
Thanks, DR ChasSmith! We are settled into our hotel in Oak Hill, WV. It was, indeed, a beautiful drive across southern Ohio and down through West Virginia. The golden dome of the state capitol in Charleston was gleaming in the bright autumn sun.
-
Travel vibes for DR GINNY and DH RICHARD...
Thank you, DR JRand - so far, so good!
-
three!
-
Good evening, all!
-
Page three? Really?
-
Really. Time to get to work.
-
The bird would prefer I didn't type.
-
He's now jumping from hand to hand.
-
I have so many leftovers, I don't know where to start for dinner.
-
Duck gumbo leftover from last night?
-
Sweet and sour soup from lunch?
-
Pork belly with corn bread? A mix from last light and lunch.
-
A puree of white beans and potatoes?
-
Or maybe leftover key lime and mango pie?
-
The pie is winning the race.
-
Went to visit some friends I hadn't seen in a while for dinner last night.
-
They've gotten two new Westies who were due to be snipped tomorrow. The dogs, Skeeter and Murphy, were bundles of energy, almost too much for Steve and Sandy to handle. They just jumped all over me. Loved it.
-
More test vibes for Vixmom.
-
Fiduciary vibes for Elmore.
-
Continued weight loss vibes for JRand.
-
Had some chicken and Wacky Noodles, finished Cat's Eye, and must now jog, although it's kind of chilly out today.
-
Vibes for all else!
-
That was a great find at the bookstore, Druxy. Which one was it? I love going to used books stores and don't know many in Austin.
-
Elmore, did you know that Michael Buble is singing I Believe in You on his new album? Should introduced Frank Loesser to a new audience -- or at least that song.
-
Disaster was averted earlier today. Somehow I didn't manage to buy my ticket from San Antonio to Atlanta for next Sunday. I have had continued messages from Turkish Air about changes in time for the flights because they're happening during the Daylight Savings shift.
-
So, today I looked for my Southwest reservations and discovered they didn't exist. Maybe I forgot to press the final submit button or something. It's really irritating. I remember lining everything up well because I was using frequent flyer miles.
-
But now I'm flying Delta nonstop. The price was decent, though I hate that I'll have to pay $25 each way to book a single piece of luggage.
-
Now that that's booked, I can get all my flight information together. Passport's ready. International driver's license was picked up. I've started packing.
-
Today's Greek word learned is a pain in the brain.
The Spanish word for "here" is "aqui." The Greek word for "there" is pronounced exactly the same way.
-
Hello, BK and FJL. Join in some posting fun.
-
A new page is almost here.
-
This should do it.
-
Four!
-
Page four? Really?
-
Off to heat up leftovers.
-
Travel vibes for Ginny. The road trip sounds like fun.
-

Back from a two-and-a-half mile jog.
-
And it will be hiking boots at church today, as I am working in the kitchen for the funeral and will be on my feet for hours.
Who died?
I don't think you knew him. Remember little Marissa? The one who was always Mary in the Christmas pageant? Her father. She is 18 now.
-
Just got caught up with last night's posts. Vixmom, I think the German noodle dish you're trying to think the name of is spaetzle.
-
TCB, that is horrible about the restrooms and the rehearsal space.
-
Two things:
1. I am not a social worker.
2. There is not any booze in this house.
-
Hello, everyone!
~~~Vibes of All Kinds for Everybody Everywhere!!~~~
-
Last night's final performance of An Improbable Peck of Plays 5 went very well, the audience was completely filled, and all the actors gave great performances. After the show, we had our last cast party that lasted several hours and a great time was had by all!
Now, on to The Physician In Spite of Himself. :D
Hoo and Ray!!
We watched THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW last night.
Very disappointed.
The original movie was so much better.
:(
Of course, the original was so much better...the original was definitive. I wasn't as disappointed as you, mainly because I didn't really have any expectations. ;)
-
There's no stopping me now.
I actually used to take accordion lessions. ::)
Conrats, Jrand, and Good Luck with the additional loss!
That's so cool, Druxy! Congrats!
-
Right now, I'm watching "Hamilton's America" from PBS. As soon as it's over, I'm leaving to go downtown to see Lord Franzannian's Royal Olympian Spectacular Vaudeville Show (http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/2606149). It's an annual vaudeville and I know several people in the show.
-
Two things:
1. I am not a social worker.
2. There is not any booze in this house.
;D
I expect there is an interesting story behind this.
-
I was expecting pure trash in Beyond the Valley of the Dolls, but this is the most deliriously campy trash in full, glorious Technicolor. And it's a musical. Just wonderful.
-
Two things:
1. I am not a social worker.
2. There is not any booze in this house.
;D
I expect there is an interesting story behind this.
I was thinking the same thing.
-
Well, it's time for me to head out to downtown for an evening of vaudeville entertainment. I'm sure that it'll be a very unique and interesting and fun evening.
Until later!
-
Finished with my viewing.
-
Lots more music to listen to.
-
We saw DENIAL today.
-
It was excellent 😊
-
So, you were in Denial today.
-
That was a great find at the bookstore, Druxy. Which one was it? I love going to used books stores and don't know many in Austin.
IT'S A HELL OF A LIFE, BUT NOT A BAD LIVING
Me, too.
-
Watching Me and My Gal. Very strange scene in which Martha Eggerth is singing to Gene Kelly. Everything is in focus but her breasts. I wonder if the costume proved too revealing when screened for the censors.
-
Five!
-
More test vibes for vixmom!
I will spare you the version of "Mr. Flu Shot" to the tune of "Mr. Sandman" that's running through my head. :)
I would actually quite enjoy that! I was advised by a nurse at church that I should wait until next week to get my flu shot just in case any of the contrast is still in my system
-
Just got caught up with last night's posts. Vixmom, I think the German noodle dish you're trying to think the name of is spaetzle.
That's it!!!!
-
Today Vixdad and I took a walk and this is what we saw
-
Having had some disappointment reacquainting myself with Edward Rubbra (I still like his music but not nearly as much as I remembered - weird), so I was almost dreading listening to the Ikuma Dan symphonies, which I remember loving when I got the CD but have not heard it since. I needn't have worried - this is the real deal for me - absolutely stunning music by a brilliant composer. He also wrote many film scores, the most famous of which is for Samurai 1, 2, and 3 - I now have to actually watch those damn movies - I've had the Criterion Blu and Ray since it came out and have never even looked at a second of it.
-
His music at times is Mahlerian, it's pastoral, and I find it quite moving, and his orchestration is simply masterful.
-
I had a fleeting moment that I might do another jog - so far it has remained fleeting.
-
Good night, all.
-
Good evening!
-
Hello, Vixmom!
-
Greetings, 3 Guests!
-
Well, I sent the director a letter today.
-
I told her that I felt the whole idea was unacceptable.
-
I told her that they wouldn't send a woman in the cast or one of the kids in the cast to run across the street to use the restroom, so why did they think it was okay for me.
-
She wrote back that she agreed that it was not a good suggestion and that she would work out an alternative plan.
-
So, I am proud that I stood up for myself.
-
And I feel relieved that there is going to be an alternative option.
-
I couldn't even concentrate enough to work on the book today.
-
Tonight the Seattle Seahawks fought to a 6 - 6 tie against the Arizona Cardinals. This is the first tie in the Hawks forty year history.
-
The fleeting moment turned into a notion and then into a reality so I did another two-and-a-half mile jog - total five miles today.
-
I need to get ready for bed and I need to switch computers.
-
So, you were in Denial today.
I visit often.
-
Watching Me and My Gal. Very strange scene in which Martha Eggerth is singing to Gene Kelly. Everything is in focus but her breasts. I wonder if the costume proved too revealing when screened for the censors.
I was hoping you would be told that.
Yes, she did the right thing even if she was a bit slow to do it.
-
Today Vixdad and I took a walk and this is what we saw
Should there be a photo?
-
I had a fleeting moment that I might do another jog - so far it has remained fleeting.
I had that same fleeting moment, only it was regarding another walk.
-
I couldn't even concentrate enough to work on the book today.
Too bad but understandable.
-
'night
-
Well, it's time for me to head out to downtown for an evening of vaudeville entertainment. I'm sure that it'll be a very unique and interesting and fun evening.
Until later!
I'm home and the evening was definitely unique and interesting, but very fun. Friends of mine were in the show, but I also sat with friends of mine, too. We all really enjoyed it. :)
-
SIX!!
-
So, I am proud that I stood up for myself.
Good for you!
-
And I feel relieved that there is going to be an alternative option.
Very good news!
-
What kind of acts were in the show?
-
To be all alone in the world!
-
What kind of acts were in the show?
Singers, dancers, a couple of comedians, a couple of strippers (one male and a female), and several acts that defy description.
