Well, you've read the notes, the notes were professional notes, and now it is time for you to post until the amateur cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: IMBUE!
-
First post after BK!
-
~~~Continued Most Excellent Vibes and Xylophones for No Irritants for BK!!~~~
Listening to the Alwyn film music CDs now - Odd Man Out currently playing - great recording and great music. This is the first volume that had a great conductor, Richard Hickox. I'm afraid to hear volumes two and three, but maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised.
-
Page one? Really?
-
There are times I just want to get in the car and go EAT, eat a nice meal, but I must show restraint because I'm a man on a mission - I just wish the weight came off faster - it's really frustrating sometimes - I expected to at least feel a little weight loss from yesterday's intake of about 1100 calories and jogging five miles. But nooooooo.
-
vixmom - so wonderful to hear your health report from last night's posts!
-
TCB - Thanks so much for your comment last night.
Also, great to hear your director came through for you!
-
Good morning to all
-
Good morning, all.
-
And big congratulations to vixmom!
Last night it finally came time for me to devote an evening to a TV movie classic I had never seen, hard as that is to believe: SALEM'S LOT.
And though it is not perfect, it's TV Movie Comfort Food in comparison to some of the dreck from the past couple of decades. I can totally understand why many hold it up as a classic. There's some cheese, to be sure, but there are some wonderful low-budget effects and moments that do just what they're supposed to do. I'm also very happy that my first time was via this lovely Blu-ray played on a good TV, as opposed to the TVs that I and the rest of the country would have seen it on when first broadcast. It looks absolutely wonderful.
-
Good morning, all!
-
I was alerted that my Mac had updates and then it was tied up for 15 minutes while they downloaded.
-
I need to leave shortly for a trip to my bank. i need to send a notarized document to Randy, sdo I'm off to find a notary.
DR vixmom, what fantastic news!
-
DR Ginny, the trip sounds very nice. Enjoy!
-
When I return from the bank, I have all those forms to fill out for my meeting on Thursday afternoon.
DR vixmom, my last round of selling books on eBay was a disaster, It's easier to donate.
Good morning, all.
Dealing with a flat tire. Not my favorite way to start the day.
-
So, I'm listening to Unsung Sherman Bros. That's a better way to start the day.
-
TCB, that's good news about the rehearsals and about Nicky.
-
The notarized document is on its way to Ohio and I am home. It was an easy. very short trip to 72nd street.
-
Tuesday morning greetings! We're easing into our day and will soon head to Monticello.
DR Ginny, the trip sounds very nice. Enjoy!
Thanks!
DR TCB, that's great news about rehearsals! I was going to suggest you invest in a large bucket, but this is so much better.
That's great. Thanks, Laura! :)
-
Nice pictures!
-
DR TCB thank you for the travel vibes. We are on the road and past the Portland traffic.
-
I often judge a book by its cover and have found some wonderful books that way 😉
-
I am glad the director apologized. She was likely surprised my the situation and not sure, at first, what to do.
-
Using my iPhone is difficult here as it jumps all over the place. Have a nice day.
-
While i was putting all those books away, I put the new Agnes deMille book aside to put in my bag. Now I have no idea where it is! I think it and that damned War & Peace DVD set are laughing behind my back.
-
I'm up, I'm up - seven hours of sleep.
-
I'm at work after being gone for only 11 and 3/4 hours. ::)
;)
I do NOT plan on staying that late tonight...or ever again. It just worked out that way.
As I feared, the two subsequent volumes of Alwyn film music have that far away washy sound I loathe, and conducting that is just not what it should be, in fact it's just bad - unlike the first volume which has great sound and great conducting and therefore actually sounds like film music.
I think this week, for Halloween, I will watch the complete series of THRILLER with Boris Karloff. Some of those episodes, like "Pigeons from Hell." still have a mean kick.
-
A fine idea, DR Elmore. Love those THRILLERs.
-
And a question for DR Elmore:
Was it you who liked the pumpkin raisin cookies I brought down a couple of years ago? How about Ben and Anthony? Just had some, and I think they're particularly good this year. I'll be stocking up on extras so let me know how many cartons I should bring down when I'm back from Ohio.
-
It's pert near the end of my work day.
-
I'm shocked, I tell you, SHOCKED, that we remain on page 2.
-
The day has been cold, dark and rainy.
If I were to write about this day, I wonder if anyone would mind if it started out as "It was a dark and rainy night..."?
-
Page two? Really?
-
I cannot remember a Halloween season in which so much "pumpkin spice" stuff was made available.
EVERYTHING seems to be available in pumpkin spice, including coffee.
To all of it, I say "YUCK".
-
Why I oughta...
-
Photobucket was down all day yesterday, and I am unable to get into it today.
Sigh.
Back from a somewhat productive meeting, a sound person meeting, and then picking up no packages and having a small Caesar and pasta papa at Hugo's. Very full and logy from that, but will have to jog in about three hours.
-
Page three? Really?
-
Yes, really. And just now, too.
-
Warner Archives has announced three new Blu Ray titles for November:
"It's Always Fair Weather"
"Time After Time"
"The Goodbye Girl"
Oy! Photobucket just opened for me. I wanted to post this yesterday, but could not. It's for JRand66....yes, Jack, it's all for YOU:
Hello!
-
DR vixmom---great news!
-
Amazon UK just emailed me a notice about that new Yeomen of the Guard full score.
Someday! :)
-
I cannot remember a Halloween season in which so much "pumpkin spice" stuff was made available.
EVERYTHING seems to be available in pumpkin spice, including coffee.
To all of it, I say "YUCK".
I saw (but didn't read) an article about all the pumpkin spice products that will be or are already available this year. That seems to be the flavor/scent of the year. I've even seen a pumpkin spice scented body wash.
-
At that Jack O'Lantern Blaze we went to last week, they had a tent full of gift/souvenir items with more pumpkin flavored/scented crap than you could shake a stick at. Everything hugely overpriced, of course, but with the exception of one or two little snack things, there was nothing I would have been even remotely tempted to buy.
And I do enjoy me some pumpkin. In fact, pumpkin spice coffee is the only flavored coffee I'll drink. I never go looking for it, but I've had it a few times and it's a flavor that works for me.
There was this article in the New York Times about a month ago, where the first section was on the proliferation of pumpkin foods.
Listening to the remaining Alwyn music - I had to nuke the final two volumes of film music because I found the sound and performances so annoying. Violin concerto was lovely and now listening to his first piano concerto.
-
We had a delightful several hours at Monticello, then we made our way to the University of Virginia to admire Thomas Jefferson's "Academical Village." In the bookstore, all the apparel has my name on it so I bought a hooded sweatshirt.
Sounds ds like a nice day.
We stopped at the car dealership to have work done on the car. Whill waiting game, we walked 3 miles to See'some candy so I could stock up. We made stops at Best Buy and Costco on the return trip. The car was early andays we are now at The Bard'so Inn.
-
It began raining as we left Medford and is still raining. Since we are walking G to the restaurant I hope we don't get too wet.
Off to meet our former neighbor, our friend, and also an acquaintance of occasional poster Charles Pogue.
Have a good time, Jane!
And on that note (C-natural), I'm off. I'm going to my sister's to help move my niece's bed back in place after she painted her room. It's a very heavy IKEA bed, but at least it doesn't need to be moved far...just a couple of feet.
Be back later.
Yes! I loved those cookies. Bring back lots.
-
Hello, everyone.
-
Congrats to vixmom! so glad to hear the news!
-
Fred, I really enjoyed Mr Flu Shot.
-
DR Ron asked if anyone is watching THE DURRELLS IN CORFU. I'd planned to, but PBS seems to have taken episode 1 off their website. Honestly, I can't make heads or tails of their website. They've changed it several times and somehow it's never any better.
-
Between waking up at 3:30 am from a bad dream and UCLA's ineptitude, my day was wasted. I did stop on my way home for some enchiladas, so there was that, but HONESTLY!
-
I just woke up from a nap and am pretty groggy.
-
Jane, do you find that Vancouver has as much to offer as did Ashland, or perhaps Ashland has some favorites and Vancouver others?
-
TCB, I'm pleased to hear about the new rehearsal space. I hoped it's all resolved to your complete satisfaction.
I think people just don't think things through much. Benign neglect.
Evenin', DR vixmom.
Oy!
We informed all the clients she was working with that she was no longer with us
-
The news was welcome to all of them
-
Another Oy!
I'll just slip this in:
I've decided to leave tomorrow and stay overnight somewhere on the way to Cincinnati. Thursday is going to be rainy just about everywhere, and this will both minimize my highway driving time in rain, and make that part of it much less stressful. If I don't check in here in the morning, I'll be here for sure in the evening.
-
Ginny, maybe it was 14 hours of work but it took me a little too long to figure out that all the items being sold said "Virginia"
Travel vibes for Chas, y'all be careful, y'hear?
Fred, I really enjoyed Mr Flu Shot.
Thanks, Jeanne!!!
Thank you all for your congratulations
-
Fred, I sang Mr Flu shot for my coworkers today
-
They all laughed
-
I think it was because of your clever lyrics
-
But I must take some of the credit fir my lousy singing
I need my back cracked....I have such a knot....
Reminds me of the SNL sketch in which everything was pumpkin spice, including a douche.
Tommy I am so glad that the director was able to find a satisfactory solution
Is there a video? I'd have loved to have heard that!
Made another treat for work. Tomorrow is some sort of bake off. I didn't actually bake anything here, but it's Rice Krispie Treats made with Oreos instead of Rice Krispies. They look decadent.
I think we'd all like to see that.
We went through the desk of the fired coworker
vixmom - Had she been given time to go through her desk to organize stuff if she wanted?
She wasn't let go because of disorganization, We had many complaints about her rudeness, she has cost the firm several thousand of dollars through errors, she was constantly texting or talking on her cell phone , she would get up and walk out of the office without saying anything to anyone and be MIA for an hour or more. She was late 4 days out 5 but out the door moments before the end of the day , she was always "too busy" to assist with my overflow files but was handling 1/5 or less Of caseload I was, and my files kept increasing as clients insisted she be taken off their files
She was warned repeatedly by the boss and she made no adjustments in her behavior....
As I said, Yesterday, I was only surprised it took him so long
-
A flu shot song sung by vixmom could go viral.
-
Watching a very weird Golon Globus musical of Red Riding Hood with a singing Isabella Rosselini as Red's mother. It was one of those kids musicals they made like Puss N Boots with Christopher Walken.
-
We are reorganizing the way files are handled and advertising for a second assistant
Ba BUM!
-
I don't know if my coworkers would tolerate another episode of my inept singing
-
Do you have an online drive where everything must be scanned in?
-
When the Vixter was a little thing, about 3 or so as she sat in my knee and I sang her a lullaby, she put her hand on my mouth and kindly but firmly advised "that's ok Mama, I'll sing to you"
-
Theoretically
-
Off to sleep if I'm going to even have any chance at all for the "first after BK" race in the morning.
-
When the Vixter was a little thing, about 3 or so as she sat in my knee and I sang her a lullaby, she put her hand on my mouth and kindly but firmly advised "that's ok Mama, I'll sing to you"
That's also a Lutheran characteristic, at least as far as my family is concerned.
Good night, all.
Sitting here like so much fish listening to some William Walton music. This is three Williams in a row - Alwyn, Walton, and Wordsworth.
-
Good evening!
-
Not feeling that great tonight.
-
I took over a two hour nap this evening.
-
The nap was not planned. I think it was the result of a boring World Series game.
-
I hope I am not getting sick.
-
Sandy was feeling in his prime today.
Instead of my driving up north to take him to lunch, he met me down here at the Emerald Queen for lunch.
I was suppose to start Nicky on his "renal diet" food, but I just couldn't do it. Tomorrow is another day.
-
He is sacked out over the entire lower half of the bed.
-
Nicky cuddled up with me last night after I signed off, so I guess he forgave me for his long day at the vet's office.
Have a good time, Jane!
Thank you. We went to our favorite restaurant here and had a delicious dinner. We went early in order to sit at the bar for awhile and order our excellent drinks while waiting for our friend. We then had a long relaxing meal at a table.
-
I think my growling stomach drove Nicky out of the bedroom.
We watched the first episode last night. Unfortunately we did not love it like others do.
Hmmm, how do I compare paradise to where we live now 😉
Do you dislike living in Vancouver?
-
I know when I return to Vancouver I will enjoy the river walks and the freedom to travel the condo provides. Downtown Vancouver does not have boutique shops that Ashland has or the charm.
I love walking along the river, watching the sailboats, planes, and trains. I would not enjoy living anywhere else in Vancouver except maybe at Officers Row by Fort Vancouver.
Oh, and then there is Portland across the bridge for shopping.
Oy!
Ditto!
