Well, you've read the notes, the notes were unsinkable, and now it is time for you to post until the unsinkable cows come home - they're currently performing The Unsinkable MOOly Brown.
-
And the word of the day is: TEMERARIOUS!
-
Those were some very nice remembrances of Tammy Grimes, BK.
-
Good morning, all.
-
First post after George after BK.
-
Good morning, John.
-
Loved the notes on Ms. Grimes. I never got to see her live. Millicent Martin was in 42nd Street by the time I got to see that show.
-
Good morning, TCB.
-
Those were some very nice remembrances of Tammy Grimes, BK.
Yes, I agree.
-
Happy birthday to my sister, Annaliese.
-
Happy birthday to my sister, Annaliese.
Happy Birthday to John's sister!
-
Happy birthday to John G's sister from us too!
-
Thanks for sharing those reminiscences, BK!
-
Thanks to BK, I got to meet Walter Willison, who was delightful!
-
And I assume still is delightful!
-
Good morning to all
-
I saw Tammy Grimes only once on stage in 42nd Street. I was going to see her in California Suite but she was on a week's vacation but was replace d by Rue McClanahan who was very good. But I'm sure she would have killed in The Visitors From London (the actress going to the Academy Awards with the gay husband.)
-
Elmore, did you see there's a Bright Star reunion set for one night?
-
Good morning, all.
-
A fine tribute to Tammy Grimes. Much appreciated.
-
Coffee!
-
Good morning, all!
-
Last night's weird dream was something to do with a colleague ransacking a porn movie office in search of materials compromising a lady friend and other nonsense pertaining to a trial.
-
DR JohnG, yes, I saw the "Bright star" blurb. Rob didn't mention it yesterday. I will ask him about it.
-
Nice memoirs about Tammy Grimes, BK. Michael Valenti introduced me to her while she was working on his musical Colombe, which was based on Anouilh's play Mlle Colombe. A friend of mine in the 1970s, whom I've not seen in over forty years, had worked summer stock n Florida, and he had a bawdy but hilarious story about her.
I used to be friends with Amanda Plummer, but I haven't seen her in twenty years. I adored her.
-
I have to make a pharmacy trip this morning along with a trek to the market.
-
And if you are still free for it, later there will be a gentleman caller.
-
Next post after the last one!
-
BK: I love your remembrances of Miss Grimes!
-
What wonderful notes from the bizzy MR BK!
Continued vibes for MR BK & Companies.

Well....................I was at the Dollar Tree this morning, and the cashier Judy (I hate to admit I am now one of those old men who know the cashiers by name and ask how they are) asked me if I take any prescriptions.
I said, I get some when I am sick sometime, but none regularly. She said a new pharmacy had just opened three doors down and she had gotten her prescription FREE!
I went down there to get some generic ClaritinD. I usually pay $18.95 at Walgreen's. At Lo-Cost Pharmacy it was $8.16. The man told me most prescriptions are free....somehow....anyway, I will tell my brothers and sisters about the place, and we shall see what we shall see.
-
Great find, Jrand!
I don't suppose Judy keeps track of anything similar in midtown Manhattan.
-
Wednesday morning greetings! I have nothing on my calendar today and plan to go nowhere. Maybe I can get some papercrafting done for next week's AAUW Holiday Bazaar and some other puttering.
-
DR Jrand66, I only have one prescription, so this will be simple. Can you pick me up a free year's supply of Valsartan? Thanks in advance.
-
Thanks to DR TCB for last night's comment about Richard's vision.
-
DR Ginnyou and DR elmore, I didn't realize reading HILLBILLY ELEGY would also include a history lesson on Middletown.
-
BK, I loved your sweet tribute to Tammy Grimes! I, too, was taken with the Molly Brown cast album. By the time I saw the show in Detroit in 1962, your friend Karen Morrow was in the title role alongside Harve Presnell.
-
DR Ginnyou and DR elmore, I didn't realize reading HILLBILLY ELEGY would also include a history lesson on Middletown.
My copy is due to arrive today from Amazon. It's the November selection for my evening book group.
-
I am sorry I forgot to mention the good news about DH RICHARD!
And happy birthday to the sister of DR JOHN G.
-
I don't usually think good movies need to be musicalized! In fact I do not like many - if any - of the Broadway movie to stage shows.
BUT - the more I hear of the ROMAN HOLIDAY songs....and think of Zeffirelli directing....I think it sounds like the best idea ever. Those characters can sing.....
-
I shall check on that prescription DR CHAS SMITH.
I think it's just in Indiana DR FJL.....
-
I never met Tammy Grimes, though I wore out my LP of THE UNSINKABLE MOLLY BROWN listening to it.
When I was representing Howard Keel back in the late 1960s-through most of the 1970s, he did a production (possibly a short tour) of MOLLY BROWN with Ms. Grimes somewhere, I believe, in the Midwest.
What surprised me a bit was that, by contract, he got top billing.
Yes, he was certainly the bigger name, but it was her show.
-
I am sorry I forgot to mention the good news about DH RICHARD!
And happy birthday to the sister of DR JOHN G.
Thanks, DR JRand!
And, ditto!
-
I wore out the Molly Brown LP, too. Loved that, and it's high time I heard that score again. It's been years.
-
I've assembled the meds for the coming week, put away the groceries, written a little bit of the choral piece, and I think it's time to lie on the heating pad for a bit.
Why couldn't I age gracefully?

DR John, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOUR SISTER!
Keith is working on our flights to Austin. To my shock there aren't any non-stop flights. I hate extra landings as I am more likely to get airsick during the landing. Tell me again how pretty the Riverwalk is at Christmas time ;)

I am interested in how accurate you find his descriptions of Middletown.

Happy birthday to my sister, Annaliese.
A Very Happy Birthday to your sister!

Someone in Japan thought so, also. ;D

I wonder if that's where the idea for "The Flying Nun" came from.

Has anyone linked the theme song from the animated series THE ROMAN HOLIDAYS yet?

Maybe we will just have to do a layover on one of the stops.
Since it is Christmas, Keith moved us to the Westin. It should be prettier in the lobby with, I hope, a nice tree.
-
Beautiful photos DR John, thank you. :-*

DR John you were sweet not to correct me when I said Austin instead of San Antonio.

I'm up, I'm up - have been up since 9:45 after about six-and-a-half hours of sleep. But the minute I got up I had a little fit of irritation that got the better of me, I'm afraid, although I didn't do what I REALLY wanted to do, which was be really nasty. I cannot tell you how disappointing ticket sales for The Brain are - it's pathetic and I am really annoyed with so many of my friends who not only can't be bothered to book tickets (half-price available if they can't afford full), they don't even say why they can't come if they can't. But I think we all know they can and they're just too lazy to get off their complacent ASSES and be supportive, and that includes a LOT of alums from the theater department. I cannot wait until they ask me to come support them - only then will I write the e-mail I so wanted to write today. Of course, you know many of them who are on Facebook will say exactly what one person from there said this morning: "I knew nothing about it." Now, I have been posting EVERY SINGLE DAY about the cast, always linking to BPT. Sorry, but these people are NEVER off Facebook and there's no way they didn't see at least one of these posts.
So, I wrote a strong Facebook post, and a strong e-mail - I tried to keep it light in tone, and let me tell you how hard that was. We'll see if that results in any sales today. I was seriously ready to cancel this morning and I probably would have were it not for Alet and Cason flying in to do this.
-
DR ChasSmith just left me at Artie's after a fantastic visit and dinner. There was much gossip and many laughs. I now have more pumpkin raisin cookies and Vernor's than I've seen in ages. What a good fellow!

Since making the e-mail and Facebook things not one single reservation despite THREE people telling me they would do it immediately. At this point it seems almost spiteful, like they just want to wait until Monday morning to reserve. These people have no idea, NO idea. :)
-
Good evening!

Back from a two-and-a-half mile jog.
-
The latter DR RLP.

I wish someone in California would do a staged reading of BRAINEX......

Thanks to BK, I got to meet Walter Willison, who was delightful!
Me too! He was very nice when we met at Joe Allen. And I saw him last year at 54 Below's tribute to Grand Hotel. He played the narrator/doctor. He remembered me and was friendly.
-
The wedding Saturday was very elegant (at the winery in Charlottesville, VA). The only problem-it started at 5:30 pm and the sun was very bright. I had to shield my eyes during the ceremony.
-
And on Sunday I went to Monticello, home of Thomas Jefferson. I wish I could have spent more time but I was anxious to get back on the road for my 2 3/4 hour trip home.
-
Happy Birthday to DR John G's sister!
-
Glad to hear DH Richard's good news, DR Ginny!
-
The warm weather is back --it was in the 70's today and will be tomorrow as well. Then down to the low 60's for a while.
-
Thank you for the weather report. I'm glad you had a nice weekend, sun and all ;)

Back from the same delightful visit DR Elmore reported. It had been too long since whenever the last one was, and was most enjoyable.

And on Sunday I went to Monticello, home of Thomas Jefferson. I wish I could have spent more time but I was anxious to get back on the road for my 2 3/4 hour trip home.
Did you travel to Charlottesville and back on US 29? If so, you went right past the Holiday Inn Express where we stayed, between Ruckersville and Charlottesville. Glad you enjoyed Monticello. We did, too, and now I'm reading America's First Daughter, a novel based on the life of "Patsy" Jefferson.

And on that note (D#), I'm outta here. A friend invited me to meet him and his wife at a local bar to watch the game...which ever game it is...and visit for a while. So, I'm going to a bar to visit and "watch" a game. I don't think I'll be able to pay too much attention to the game. But it'll be fine. :)
Be back later.
-
And still no one has reserved, including even more people who told me they would. These people have no idea, no idea at all. It's fine as long as they come, but why they all feel they can just wait and wait and wait when they have to know that is just crazy making is really odd to me.
-
Had a fun second rehearsal and Marc Ginsburg even got to run his Brain songs.
-
Has anybody here seen the show "This is Us"?
-
One if the guys at work has been raving about it
-
So tonight I discovered that the show is on "free on demand"

I wish I had been watching the game, especially the last half. I could not get Keith to turn on any of it. I kept tracking it though 😊
-
We sold one ticket today. I am so fed up.
-
REALLY fed up.
-
So fed up that I went and got two chicken tenders and a couple of egg rolls. It's fine, I only had an omelet and an English muffin and I jogged, so I had lots of calories left.
-
Have I mentioned that I'm FED up.
-
REALLY fed up.
-
I finished watching The Last War, and am now listening to music and trying to rid myself of this stress-related headache.
-
I am really sorry about the ticket problem, BK. I really don't understand people sometimes.

This computer is driving me crazy!
-
Now suddenly it is working again.
-
And then it slowed down again
-
I think I will switch computers

I am back! This iPad seems to be working better.
