Well, you've read the notes, the notes were stuffed to the gills, and now it is time for you to post until the stuffed cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: FOOTLE!
-
First post after BK!
-
I would love to go to Ruth Chris. I have heard their steaks are to die for.
-
T.O.D.
I think probably the best steak I have ever had was at the Space Needle in Seattle.
-
Topic of the Day: not a fan of steaks.
::)
-
Well, I'm off to bed. I get to sleep in this morning!
Have a good day, all!
-
TOD:
Other than at home, the best I can recall was at the West Bank Cafe at 43rd St near 9th Avenue. I don;t remember whether it was a special or on the menu at the time, but it was extraordinary.
-
Good morning to all
-
The most consistently great steaks have been at the (somewhat pricey) Shula's Steak House, though.
Frugal Consumer Hint: if you order one of the larger steaks and another non-steak dish and share both, assuming you don't have liquor, you can get out of Shula's with a fairly reasonable bill.
But if everyone orders steak and some or many have wine or liquor, then it becomes very very pricey.
-
TOD:
I've had so many great steak dinners over the years that it would be impossible to say which was the best.
So, I will award that honor to my wonderful wife, Sandy, who cooks a damn good steak.
:)
-
Good morning, all.
-
Got some garage cleaning to do today, just straightening up and basically being ready with supplies for winter storms. (Wash my mouth out for even saying that word.)
-
I've enjoyed several superb to-die-for steaks over the years, and for the life of me I can't tell you with any certainty where they were.
One non-restaurant one comes to mind. A friend in this area, who sadly passed away several years ago, threw a summer party for which he spent a fortune at Stew Leonard's on a large number of gigantic restaurant-cut rib eye steaks, then he personally prepared and grilled them to medium/medium-rare perfection over ... I forget what kind of wood, but ... it was perfection on a plate.
-
Good morning, all!
-
DR George, I'm with you! I am not a steak lover.
-
I slept rather well last night ntil around 3:15, when I had a panic attack about the GOP plans to destroy Medicare and Social Security. I was awake for too long a time before I snapped out of the panic.
-
I believe Rob Berman is coming by today, but until he does, I will work on this Guys & Dolls piano-conductor score.
-
I'm waiting for Netflix to deliver the next disc of A Place to Call Home, so I watched half of the BBC version of The Tenant of Wildfell Hall. Good cast, but it's not holding my interest.
-
Yesterday evening I picked up some fresh everything bagels and some scallion cream cheese.
Guess what I'm having right now.
-
Where the hell is everyone?
-
I'm right here!
-
Hmmmm......I don't order steak often when I go out.....because I like mine well done....and I don't think steak chefs like to cook them that way......
Not burnt!!!! Well done!!!!
I do remember a very nice steak that I had once in a restaurant in Baltimore - I do not remember the name of it.....it was well cooked and the sides were very well done, too.
-
It is supposed to be very cold and snowy tonight.....we shall see.
-
Behind the living room fireplace my parents had a built in BBQ. Steaks were never my favorite but ones cooked at home were as good as the best restaurants.
DR Jrand all our steaks were served medium rare but you could have asked for it to be cooked longer.
-
DR elmore do you have a cold or are you still in the might be getting one stage? I had a break from the might have a cold stage so I could take the trip to Olympia. It returned yesterday.
-
I'm up, I'm up - probably could have slept until one on those nice new sheets.
-
I order my steaks medium well and that's just the way it is.
-
Saturday morning greetings! Just stopping in for a quick HI before we head to Springboro for the Haines birthday bash. Niece Rev. Amy's kids all have December birthdays (today is Rachel's 4th), so there's a big family gathering. Their Great Aunt Ginny has a birthday tomorrow and Great Uncle David's (Richard's brother) is Friday. We are considerably older than today's guests of honor...
-
I order my steaks medium well and that's just the way it is.
Me, too. But my favorite is the bacon-wrapped filets that I cook right here at home.
-
Rob Berman is coming by around 4:30, so I will spend the afternoon on Guys & Dolls until he arrives.
-
I certainly would have DR JANE. I don't like any of my steak to be pink or red.
-
Medium rare here....pink center....
-
I love steak
-
The most consistently good steak I gave had is at the Texas Roadhouse when're the Vixter worked and it is quite reasonably priced as well
-
We are back from the birthday bash. The middle honoree (Timothy, age 9) and Dad stayed home due to a stomach bug, but the rest of us had a nice time at Rev. Amy's church. We're going there tomorrow for 10:35am worship, per MY birthday request.
-
The best steak I think we ever had was a Steak Diane in a little place called The Frog and The Peach . It was a small restaurant in a converted house in St James on Long Island. We had it for our Valentines Dinner shortly after we were engaged
Sadly the restaurant is no more...
-
I still cannot get over this "Thank you, America" tour that our president-elect is taking. He doesn't want to attend intel briefings, he's going to produce the dreadful "The Apprentice," and he's thanking America for electing him? Does he think he won Miss America? Was being elected an "I need to be loved" trophy? Are we really stuck with this moron for the next four years?
-
Good afternoon, all.
-
I'm with Vixmom. I love steak.
-
Vancouver, Olympia, and Tacoma are included in this list.
Fourteen most romantic restaurants in Washington. (http://www.onlyinyourstate.com/washington/most-romantic-restaurants-wa/)
-
Good Afternoon
-
I love a good rib-eye steak cooked medium rare.
-
So, this series "A Place Called Home" is a must see??? Can I stream it on the Netflix?
-
I don't know. We get it on Acorn.
-

I get the discs through Netflix, DR Matthew, if that's any help.
-
I really like steak. However I need it to be medium to medium-well (closer to the latter). I only like to see a tiny bit of pink and could not eat a rare steak.
-
My cough has become rather dry and rough sounding. I might as well take a Benadryl tonight and see if it helps. A loose cough is bad enough all night, this would definitely keep us awake.
-
Feel-better vibes to Jane!
-
Thank you DR FJL.
-
Reply 50? At almost nine in the evening?
Not PAGE 50?
-
I enjoyed Moby-Dick so much last night that when I found myself with a couple of idle hours this afternoon I put it back in and watched it again while listening to the Nick and Julie and Paul Seydor commentary track which, as always, is wonderful.
-
It's so satisfying to catch up on a classic film that "everyone" except me has known all their lives. I mean, as long as it's a good one.
Because now I can feel part of the club, go to parties, show off my knowledge.
It's about this ... whale ...
-
All this talk about steak inspired us to go to tbh Texas Roadhouse for dinner
-
They decorate the restaurant with stockings with the employees Names
-
The Vixters stocking which hung in the waiting area the oast three years was hanging there again.....whic made me feel a bit forlorn.
-
The floor manag saw us and was chatting she must have seen something in my face when I said Vix would not be here for Christmas .. When I got the check she had comped both our meals, the only charge was for our odouls
-
We Decided to pay it forward and paid out what we would have without the discount I hope the server (who has been there for the past few years and also asked after the Vixter) was pleased with his 200 % tip
-

Aww, it is sweet they left it up.
-

That was very nice of her.

;D
-
Page three? Really? REALLY? I come home from over seven hours of comping vocals and we're ONE post on page three?
-
Just finished Season 1 of "A Place to Call Hime," and I am off to bed.
-
We just watched the recent version of ANNE OF GREEN GABLES with Martin Sheen.
-
I am coughing a wee bit less at the moment. I fear once I move it will begin again.
-
Spent a very long day doing way too much.
-
The best part of it was helping serve a barbecued dinner to the homeless at our Haven for Hope.
-
The church I was helping out, not my own, spent the night smoking brisket and sausage, making rice and beans and getting the rest of the meal (pickles, onions, jalapenos, sauce, bread, cookies) ready to serve.
-
I got the job of greeting people and trying to get them in the right line to be served quickly.
-
It was nice because it gave me more contact with the people at the center, most of whom were really nice. A great mix of folks, including multiple families, a few transgender people, many disabled, and people just down on their luck in need of a good meal.
-
And they were greatly receptive to the food. The line for seconds was long and many just stopped by afterward to thank us.
-
Afterwards, my friend Gail and I went out to have some barbecue of our own.
-
We went to a place called the Pigpen, which is more bar than anything, but they get their barbecue from a food truck I've always liked.
-
The place was having a Bob Dylan tribute in honor of his winning the Nobel Prize.
-
One of the bands to play featured a priest from Gail's Episcopal church. He stopped by to talk when he saw us wearing T-shirts from the event.
-
His group was interesting in that it had a fiddle, an upright bass, a banjo and harmonica. They did bluegrass versions of The Might Quinn and Mr. Tambourine Man. Really a lot of fun.
-
The brisket grilled cheese sandwich was also really good.
-
And there's nothing like a couple of beers after a long day's work.
-
It's rainy and drizzling here, making driving fun.
-
Back to steaks.
-
I still want one.
-
Medium rare, just like Vixmom said.
-
My favorite steaks are when I go to Costco and get a package of rib-eyes and New York strips, smother them in McCormick's Montreal seasoning and then throw them on the grill.
-
Usually when that happens, 20 or so folks are around, and the meat is sliced up after it rests and everyone digs in. Fun times.
-
As for the prime steak houses we have in town, a mix of locally owned places and chains, I like a couple of the locally owned best. One is named Myron's and is housed in a renovated movie theater. The meat just melts in your mouth. And each comes with a wedge salad that's smothered in blue cheese, hard-boiled egg and bacon.
-
My favorite of the chains is Kirby's, which is related to the former Mickey Mantle's steakhouses. They have plenty of beautiful dishes outside of steaks, including this seafood salad.

-
My only problem is I can't afford to eat steak in restaurants.
-
Unless somebody else pays.
-
I did meeting Ruth Fertel a few times. She's the woman who started Ruth's Chris.
-
She was fun. She also smoked like a chimney.
-
Four!
-
When Ruth knew that she was not going to be around much longer, she did what any good person from New Orleans would do: She threw a series of wakes with all the people she knew in various cities where she did business. She wanted to have some good times with her friends while she could.
-
Just finishing up Boomerang with Dana Andrews and Lee J. Cobb. Fun noir. Not great, but enjoyable.
-
And that finishes me up for the night.
-
Someone else will have to take us to page five.
-
Good night, all.
-
Where the HELL is everyone?
-
Finished with my viewing.
-
Page four? Really?
-
Way too much errant and truant behavior this day.
-
When I move I cough, sooooo
-
'night
-
I guess we're never getting off page four.
-
I see. Well, thanks to all for the lowest posting day in haineshisway.com's history. Not happy. Not at all. No happiness. I don't even feel like opening a new topic, frankly. We'll just see about that. For now, this one's staying open because, well, I'm not happy.
-
Good morning!
-
Well, I said yesterday...
-
That I wouldn't be home until after midnight.
-
And I just walked in the door.
-
I apologize for being out with the cast.
-
It is the only time I have done it.
-
We have been open for 3 weeks.
-
The cast thought I was antisocial.
-
And I guess I am sorta.
-
Not antisocial exactly, but I am worn out after a show.
-
And I prefer to just go home.
-
Hmmm, what is the definition of antisocial.
-
But I basically prefer to socialize at HHW.
-
Explain that to a cast of actors.
-
But it is true.
-
One more post.
-
page five!
-
Anyway , we were sold out again.
-
It was a great show tonight.
-
Everyone was on there game.
-
Except the audience was a bit off.
-
They started really strong.
-
But then they quieted down until curtain call
-
But they were very vocal during the bows.
-
You can never out-guess an audience
-
Tomorrow is already sold out.
-
And closing day on the 18th is SRO.
-
Mr. Potter has one really offensive line. He says George is playing nursemaid "to a bunch of garliceaters."
-
Last night it came out as, "playing nursemaid to a bunch of garbage eaters.."
-
It was just a slip of the tongue, but I couldn't go back and correct it.
-
I am sure the ride home from the theatre the audience was trying to figure out what a garbage eater might me.
-
Our George Bailey just went with the flow.
-
Nobody else heard it.
-
At least nobody else in the cast.
-
But I had trouble containing myself.
-
The theater is putting put out a basket every night now, to make up for no Actor's Benefit.
-
Last night, we collected $120.00.
-
Not bad for the first night.
