Well, you've read the notes, the notes were mixed and O-Kay, and now it is time for you to post until the mixed cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: JUBILEE!
-
First post after BK!

That is sad about the police officer :(

That is sad about the police officer :(
Has there been any update on his condition?
-
Oh, I guess George has gone to bed.
-
I did a search on the officer. The most recent report I could find is that he is out of surgery and stability though critical.

I guess that is the best we can hope for now.
-
Good morning, all!
-
I am ready for physical therapy, and I will head out around 8:15 or so.
-
I haven't seen Joshie since his return from DC, and I'm looking forward to catching up with him.
-
DR TCB, I hope your back continues to improve. I also hope your stage exit goes smoothly.
-
Last night I finished Season 2 of A Place to Call Home. Netflix cannot deliver those DVDs fast enough.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Today is mostly a ME day, which could not be more welcome.
-
I owe DR Ginny my thanks for the birthday wishes yesterday morning!
I only logged back in a dozen times throughout the day to say that, and look what happened. I will see to it there's an extra autographed copy of No Cheese at the Abbey held in your name at the Middletown Barnes and Noble.
-
So let's see, what am I doing today?
Well, obviously, calling the Abbey at ten in the a.m. to see if there's any CHEESE, and hopefully I'll be making my way up there immediately following. If not, well, there are several more days...
This evening I'm attending a friend's Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanzaa/Whatever (but mostly Christmas) musical revue, which he promises will have some really nice performances and a few stinkers because he had so much trouble casting it. I intend to enjoy every great and rotten moment of it. :)
-
TOD:
Oy! Well, maybe later today I can finally sit back and listen to or watch something.
But tomorrow, the entire day is being spent at home and I will absolutely be taking refuge in the Music and Movie Room. I should have multiple wonderful things to report on then.
-
Continued back healing and leg breaking (the two are not mutually exclusive) vibes for TCB!
-
I need to hear those Phase 4 Herrmanns one of these days.
Back when those recordings first came out, I suspect the world was so thrilled to have them at all, that whatever audio weirdness they had was beside the point. I still have the original LPs, and when I last sampled the fantasy and sci-fi one a few years ago I found it oddly unsatisfying -- and there's no question that I had thrilled to it back in the '70s. Well, there's also no question I'm a much better listener now. Maybe I can pull these out tomorrow and see what's what. I never got any of the CDs.
-
Good morning.
-
I am very happy it's Friday. AND we are having a little rain which id a great way to start the day!
-
TOD:
I'm thinking of renting the remake of PETE'S DRAGON for tonight.
Has anybpdy seen it?
Is it a musical, like the original?
-

I knew you would like this show 🌚

Back and wheelchair driving vibes for DR TCB.
Continued Cheese Vibes for DR CHAS SMITH.
Package Delivery Vibes for MR BK.
-
Perhaps we will have a lunch photo from MR BK & DR JEANNE.
-
Everyone should enjoy their ME TIME....and this is a great time of year to have such. On BookFace, DR RLP seems to be having his usual good time in South Carolina!
-
Perhaps we will have a lunch photo from MR BK & DR JEANNE.
That would be nice.

Good morning, all.

And the word of the day is: JUBILEE!
The best Cole Porter score.
-
TCB, if I had your address, I would send cookies.
-
Two!
-
I'm up, I'm up - seven hours of sleep and no hammering.
-
I wish I got seven hours of sleep. I seem to be getting about five these days.
-
My fellow countrymen...
We have CHEESE. :)
-
Good news from Connecticut!

Excellent, DR Elmore!
-
Back from a fun lunch with dear reader Jeanne at Casa Vega - ate a bit too much but that's it for the day.
-
Before doing that, I listened to the pairing on the Paul Paray Mercury Rachmaninov second CD - Cesar Franck's Symphony in d minor. I tend not to like all that much written before 1900, even though I try. And the first third of this, firmly in that mode almost made me shut it off, although it was nicely done - then suddenly the big tune of the first movement hit and I sat up - it seemed instantly familiar to me and I loved it and the rest of that movement. As I listened to the rest (and the third movement has another great tune in it that was at least familiar enough to think I've heard it before) but all the while that tune from the first movement kept running through my head - and I kept thinking I had to have heard it in some movie and I could almost see a scene in my head someone running toward something. It was driving me a little nuts so I Googled and found a list on the imdb of films that have used this and other Franck music - but the only one that used that particular theme was The Wolverine, which I didn't see (and don't know how it was used). So, I kept humming it and thinking about it and it finally hit me - 55 Days at Peking, the theme that plays at the beginning when the little Chinese girl is running through the American troops - so I found that and listened - it's not note for note but almost note for note and clearly Mr. Tiomkin was referencing it consciously, at least the shape of it and the harmony of it and the first few notes of it. Whew.
-
Listening to some Ernest Gold film themes.
-
Then I'll catch up with the rest of what I didn't hear yesterday. I picked up a few packages but they neglected to give me one that had definitely been delivered, so I'll have to go back there around six or so and gather that one up. Meanwhile I did get the Barbirolli set with all discs included (the last set was missing the fifth disc). So, I can now hear his sixth symphony of Sibelius.
-
Excellent, DR Elmore!
We had a nice meeting today on how much we can have ready for an orchestra reading on Jan. 12/
-
Congratulations, Larry!!
-
Good news DR ELMORE. Congratulations!
-
Listening to Robert Russell Bennett's Porgy and Bess suite - really wonderful especially in this version by Antal Dorati in wonderful sound.

That Dorati recording is excellent. IKt's one of the few absolutely complete ones. I have a couple that take the optional cuts in Bennett's score

Aww, that was sweet of her.

Back from a fun lunch with dear reader Jeanne at Casa Vega - ate a bit too much but that's it for the day.
Do you order classic guacamole or chopped?
-
If I went to Casa Vega I would order either the Black Bean Taquito Plate or the Enchiladas De Espinaca.
-
Since I have never eaten at Casa Vega I don't know which of my two choices they make the best.
-
Can you tell I am hungry ;)

It's huge, and I'm afraid if I open it, I'll never stop stuffing my face all weekend.
-
DR elmore do you think you can wrap any of it into single serving sizes and put it in the freezer?

Well, I must leave work now. I'm going to my parents' for our weekly family dinner, then I'm off to the theater for our final Friday performance of The Physician in Spite of Himself. We have our final performance tomorrow night.
Be back later.

I hope you had a great audience for the last night.
-
Yes, congrats to elmore.
-
Have to go back to the mail place and get the package they didn't give me when I was there before, which serves me right for not actually opening what I got right then and there so I would have known they were shorting me a package.

Congrats, Larry!!
Thanks. it's nice to have it official.
And more official congratulations!

Back from Day 1 of the competition. My partner, Ping, got nervous, so we were not great during the country dances, but she got more comfortable with the rhythm dances and those went far better. Joy and I only danced four times, and they were fun, too. The big work comes in the morning.
-
Watching A Charlie Brown Christmas. Love this score.
-
One week from today, Jane and Keith will be in San Antonio.
-
Looking forward to a fun evening.
-
I'm thinking that the spinach enchiladas and margaritas at La Fonda on Main would be a great taste of San Antonio.

Hello, 0 guests!

What's your favorite tequila cocktail?

I am fading fast. It's been a long day and I'm ready to pass out. Sweet dreams, everyone!

Eating some nuts, picked up the other package and am in for an evening of listening and maybe some watching.

I am excited.
We are leaving tomorrow evening, sometime before the ice & snow, to stay near the airport. We don't want to worry about getting there Sunday morning.

Do we need reservations?

Worked between 13 - 14 hours every day
-
So I am sorry not to have beenaround
-
Then we can have tequila to your heart's content at any number of places.
LOL I cannot drink to my hearts content or I would pass out. I wish I could enjoy the flavor without the side effects ;D
-
I am delighted to hear Elmores good news and now must make plans to see the show!
-
Happy belated birthday to Chas
-
I have not caught up
-
What's your favorite tequila cocktail?
Once on Keith's birthday, after dinner and after our cadillac margaritas, they gave him a glass of tequila & grand marnier. Since he was driving he gave it to me-oh yum. This is the extent of my tequila knowledge and that we never, ever, drink it if it has a worm in it.
-
Worked between 13 - 14 hours every day
I feared this was where you have been.
-
Listening to some Ernest Gold film themes.
My former publicity client.
-
Stuffing the face is required December 15 - January 1.
-
Happy belated birthday to Chas
Thank you so much, vixmom. Been thinking about how crazy you must be these days.
-
So, now, guess what I've gone and done -- apparently within the past 24 hours or so?
I got me a head cold!!!
It's just in my nose, and I sure wish it would stay that way until it's ready to get out of Dodge.
-
Finished with my viewing. For anyone suffering from colds or flu I have one word for you: Sambucol. If you are proactive and listen to me you will thank me later. It is a miracle. But there are several different kinds so don't be confused - you want the box that says "Cold & Flu Relief" and has a little picture of a white pill on the bottom right corner and above that the text "30 quick dissolve tablets".
-
Feel better DR Chas!
-
Good evening!
-
Home from IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE.
-
Great show tonight.
-
We were sold out again.
-
Very responsive audience.
-
We had to hold for 5 minutes to get everybody in to their seats.
-
Excellent Tom. Are they still collecting money for the actors?
-
The audience didn't seem to mind. They were all singing Christmas carols.
-
Page Five
-
I slept for about half an hour and am awake again.
-
A gentleman came up to me after the show and said he thought I was better in the part than Barrymore.
-
He didn't know Barrymore's name, he just called him the guy in the movie, but I will take the compliment.
-
It was so cold at the theater tonight.
-
The news just said it was 19 degrees in Tacoma, so I imagine it was that cold in Lakewood.
-
I was in a lot of pain before the show.
-
And after the show it came back in full force.
-
But the pain was tolerable during the show.
-
Travel vibes to Jane and Keith.
-
Health vibes to all who need them.
-
I haven't had time to read today's posts yet.
-
But I need to climb into bed and get warm.
-
So I will post from the bed.
-
BRB
-
Man, I am freezing!
-
My feet are like ice cubes.
-
I guess I turned the heat down too far before I left for the theater.
-
I may never warm up!
-
The bedroom is registering 63 degrees
-
Finally, it is up to 64 degrees.
