Well, you've read the notes, the notes had ME time, and now it is time for you to post until the ME cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: LAVE!
-
First post after BK!
-
And the word of the day is: LAVE!
There is only one soap can clean these hands, Mister. That's LAVE!
-
Hi, Tom.
-
I'm sorry about your pains, before and after your show. At least it was more tolerable during the performance.
-
Our show went very well. We had a grwat audience...and our largest. About 20 people saw the show last night. Tonight is our last performance.
-
Hello, George!
-
I'm glad you had a good audience.
-
I'm glad you had a good audience.
Thanks, Tom! Now, if we could've gotten just a couple of your sold out nights, we could've filled our entire run!
;)
-
I could kick myself for turning down all the heat before I went to the show last night.

At my work, they're having a couple of HVAC units replaced...finally! For the last couple of years, there was only one, count it, one working unit. I think there are four for the whole building. It's too expensive to get them all replaced at the same time.
-
Today, I'm working concessions for Ballet Northwest's production of The Nutcracker. It's a matinee, so it'll be finished long before my show starts this evening. Then tomorrow is my friend Margo's birthday! Monday, Ixm ushering for the annual Sing A Long Messiah. It's kind of a busy weekend for it being the end of the run for the play. :-\
-
And now, to bed.
Have a good day, all!
-
Good Morning To All
-
Good morning! It's snowing here.
-
But it will be 55 degrees tomorrow.
-
It's snowing here too I tried to ketchup or catsup or catchup last night , but instead I fell asleep , cradling my iPod like a teddybear, so Vixdad tells me
-
I'm too dang old for these hours I need to get me a good paying part time job somewheres
-
Today is the soup kitchen Christmas party I am going to have to load my car with the presents stored at the church (in the falling snow) drive to the other church (on the unplowed roads) unload my car (there are about 100 packages) bring them down the basement steps into the soup kitchen
-
My joy knows no bounds
-
Good morning, all!
-
Good morning, all.
-
Snow!!!
-
SO glad I arranged not to have to go out today. I will eventually have to do a little snow cleanup. But no more than necessary. Tomorrow brings one day in the fifties, which will be a godsend.
-
I slept an hour later than I wished, but i slept quite well - and warmly - last night. I dreamed I was reviewing a book about two of the earliest novels, Apuleius' The Golden Ass and Petronius' Satyricon, particuarly their main centrepieces, "Cupid and Psyche" and "Trimalchio's dinner party."
There were books I'd read nearly fifty years ago when I was a Classics major in college. In Sept. 2002, I saw Mark Rylance and the Globe perform a wonderful. circus-y dramatization of The Golden Ass, but I have no idea what dreged this out of my subconscious last night.
-
I need to answer a couple of New Yorkers emails from Rob Berman this morning and get to work on the piano score for Guys & Dolls. That's my day.
-
DR vixmom and Jennifer, thank for your nice comments on The New Yorkers last night!
-
BK, I'm on the Sambucol Cold & Flu Relief, but I think I unfortunately waited too long to begin it. I am exceedingly happy for the recommendation.
-
I'm aboard the Sambucol train, too, and, well ..... likewise! :)
I'll be stocked up on it in time for the next damned cold.
-
I look forward to BK's report on that Merrily We Roll Along.
-
I've never seen or read the Kaufman & Hart play, but I just acquired a copy and will dig into that.
-
I'm sorry about your pains, before and after your show. At least it was more tolerable during the performance.
Yes, and thank goodness for adrenaline.
-
DR TCB thank you for the travel vibes though tomorrow is the real travel day.
-
DR Jrand how is Trent doing?
-
DR JANE he is doing very well.....doing laps on his own.....still has the feeding tube, but that will be gone probably this week. And hopefully home is in his near future.
He looks and sounds better than he ever has in his life!
-
Continued show vibes for DR TCB and closing night vibes for DR GEORGE.
For some reason I thought it was Sunday, and when I looked at the TV schedule, all the shows seemed to be wrong.....however it is SATURDAY and things are fine.
We are up to 37 degrees with cold weather and snow predicted for tonight.
-
I just schlepped through the slush to Staples, where two of the three items I needed were out of stoc, WTF? So, I had to order them online for Tuesday delivery. What a waste of my time, dammit.
-
Even if you're in the midst of a cold or flu do Sambucol. It will help, believe me.
-
I'm up - a bit over seven hours of sleep.
-
Good morning
-
The boys let me sleep in a little, which was great. They are outside wrestling now, my favorite time of day is when I watch them play.
-
Just finished my big Amazon order for Christmas. Now I have music to prepare for Christmas - we are adding a trombone and a bassoon to our merry group of instrumentalists for Christmas Eve.
-
And I guess I should get my treats organized. I have plans to make "Chicago" style popcorn for gifts as well as Schnauzer sugar cookies.
-
And I guess I should look at my part for the Pippin rehearsal tomorrow night
-

This is wonderful news. Just having my little cough and being constantly aware of how deep my breaths can be, I have often thought of your nephew and what he has to deal with all the time.

We are at 29 degrees and I do not believe will will get close to 37.

We need a video.

I am a sambucol fan. I use it in conjunction with Zicam nasal spray and find the combo works like a charm

Saturday afternoon greetings! It's been a festive, fun-filled couple of days and I'm exhausted. I was up yesterday shortly after 6am to help Mary Linda with her pre-commencement brunch. She made 3 varieties of quiche and I made a punch bowl full of mimosas. We sent Richard to Central Pastry for, well, pastries. There were 10 of us here for brunch, after which we caravanned to Oxford for the 3pm graduation ceremony. When it was still going on at 4:30, she texted Rob, "Get me out of here!" It finally ended about 5 and it took an hour to get out of the parking lot.
From there, the caravan crossed Butler County to Brio Tuscan Grille, where Mary Linda's parents hosted dinner for the same 10 who'd brunched together. We got home about 10pm and were outta here 12 hours later for a late morning showing of ROGUE ONE. The party had shrunk by 2 today with the departure of one set of grandparents, so it only required 2 cars in the caravan to and from the theater. We all regrouped here for a casual lunch of leftovers and saw her parents and maternal grandmother off to Michigan and her sister off to Cleveland.
-
It sounds like a very nice celebration.
-
It was very nice, DR Jane, and now Mary Linda and I are both looking forward to a quiet Christmas weekend...
-
U'm halfway through season 3 of A Place To Call Home and Netflix does not yet rent Season 4! This is most unseemly.
-
Darn DR elmore!

Enjoy a nice quiet Christmas weekend.

Fun DR GINNY. How was the movie?
-
Yes DR JANE - in fact he got to go home today.....
-
Fun DR GINNY. How was the movie?
Loud.
-
Sounds about right! MANY of my friends went to see it last night, then got caught in giant ice storms on the way home and spent many HOURS on the road.....mostly standing still.....
-
Yes DR JANE - in fact he got to go home today.....
Wonderful! Continued healing vibes for Trent!
-
Where is everyone today?

Back from finessing the mixes - we made VERY minor and VERY subtle changes on ten of the fourteen mixes, most of them were removing some lip and mouth noises that happened in music-only sections and which were distracting, and then I adjusted the piano/vocal balances just twice on two tracks - really just one line each track, found an alternate vocal for one word that I thought could be better (and was), added some verb to one word at the end of one song to make it seem like she's receding into a big empty room, and added a fade out to one number. Those are now finalized, Kay has heard all but two of the tracks, but she's thrilled with everything, so this should be able to go to mastering on Monday.
-
That only took an hour so I went to Lenny's Deli and had some kishka (weird today - kind of off-putting and I left a lot of it), and a chicken Caesar wrap that was excellent. Then I came back to the Valley - I got one package, but the mail idiot had JUST got there (at TWO) and so there are at least two or three more packages and I'll go back there in a little while. I also got a screener of something called Silence.
-
I waited too long to order Chanukah gifts for our favorite little girls. Everything is sold out, at least on-line.
-
Good evening!
-
Page 3?
-
At 7:20 EST?
-
There were some terrible accidents in the DC and Baltimore areas today. I think it was something like a 50 car pileup.
-
My care was covered was ice so I decided to walk to do a little shopping.
-
Picked up the other packages, but one that was supposed to be there wasn't - so had to call Amazon again - but since it could conceivably still arrive, I have to wait until tomorrow to do something about it.
-
Listening to Rachmaninov Youth Symphony, which I've never heard - I like it.
-
If anyone is interested, The Four Phantoms, comprised of Brent Barrett, Ciaran Sheehan, Franc D'Ambrosio and Marcus Lovett, will be on this ice skating show tomorrow:

I look forward to BK's report on that Merrily We Roll Along.
Me too!
-
Travel vibes for DR Jane and DH Keith!
-
Tomorrow the temp will be about 60 after being in the 30's Thursday and Friday.
-
The temps go back down on Monday.
-
Listening to glorious Rachmaninov - I'd enjoyed Paul Kletzki's second symphony so much that I got his third and it's excellent - in certain ways I like it as much as Ormandy except for my favorite moment a minute in, which no recording has gotten as right as Ormandy. But I have two more to listen to this evening.
-
Pouring rain here this evening and when the temps drop around 2 or 3am it's going to be an icy mess.
-
I waited too long to order Chanukah gifts for our favorite little girls. Everything is sold out, at least on-line.
What kind of gifts did you want to buy? I'm sure they have tons of Chanukah stuff on amazon.
-

I hope Craig stayed home.
-
Travel vibes for DR Jane and DH Keith!
Thank you.
-
General gifts but it is too close to Christmas and Amazon wouldn't put anything into my cart. For the 2 year old a simple marble run and some easy puzzles. I plan to buy clothes to go with them. The six year old wants science things, such as growing a crystal.
-
Oh, and choose your own adventure books.
-
We are at the hotel and my tablet won't connect to the wifi so I am using Keith's phone. Mine is impossible to post with.
-
We are watching an incredible British baking show with Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood...OMG!!!!!
-
Tried to watch Silence - not my cuppa and I fell asleep. Three hours long - the movie, not the sleep.
-
DR JANE he is doing very well.....doing laps on his own.....still has the feeding tube, but that will be gone probably this week. And hopefully home is in his near future.
He looks and sounds better than he ever has in his life!
That's really good to hear!
-
U'm halfway through season 3 of A Place To Call Home and Netflix does not yet rent Season 4! This is most unseemly.
Hmm...becoming addicted, perhaps?
-
Stay-warm-and-toasty vibes to all DRs!
-
Health vibes to all!
-
Good night.
-
We are still watching the British baking show. Everything is incredibly beautiful.
-
'night.
-
Listened to some Rachmaninov thirds - one was pretty great, one was merely okay, and one was just bad - naturally the latter has been raved about by everyone on Amazon, which just proves they know nothing about this music or what orchestration is. There is a moment in the slow movement that happens about a minute in that is one of my favorite moments in all of music - and I'll just say the flutes have line that MAKES that moment - you can't even hear them on this raved about recording. Fail. And for sale. And the sound is like there's a blanket over the speakers - I'm not sure how anyone can rave about such sound but they do, Blanche, they do. His second symphony is a bit better sound-wise, but even though he's not quite as long as the longest one he has no idea how to keep the music shaped and interesting. The Russian conductor who does the longest version understands completely the music's shape and one is never bored. The Stokowski third is bad-sounding and actually mediocre, but he was ninety-two and about to die when he recorded it. He premiered the piece in the late 30s - I'd like to hear THAT. But the version by Paul Kletzki, whose second I really enjoyed, is terrific. Nothing has bested the Ormandy in the ravishing moment department, but these two will be the ones I listen to, along with the William Weller, which is also nice. The Ashkenazy, also much lauded by all, doesn't do much for me at all.
-
And for a complete change of pace - I listened to Aram Khachaturian's piano concerto, which is wonderful. I listened to the CD version and then the SACD layer. Neither is perfect, but the SACD, if you turn up the volume, is better.
-
And then I went modern - the violin concerto of Roberto Gerhard, and interesting composer. While I wouldn't call his music melodic, really, he does have wonderful colors and I quite liked it - listening to his first symphony now - I like it, too - he also did one movie score that I know of, for the film This Sporting Life. I'll probably end up getting his other symphonies.
-
DR JANE he is doing very well.....doing laps on his own.....still has the feeding tube, but that will be gone probably this week. And hopefully home is in his near future.
He looks and sounds better than he ever has in his life!
That's very good news, Jrand!
-
Today was a day.
-
I worked concessions for a local production of "The Nutcracker Ballet" today.
-
Geatuitous Post #100!
-
It still amazes me that people come to the theater and buy no concessions during the entire hour before the show starts, and then practically EVERYONE gets upset during the 15 minute intermission because they don't have enough time for their cookies/coffee/hot chocolate. Well, too bad for them, I say.
-
Otherwise, we mansged to get everyone what they wanted until we ran out of cookies.
-
So, we're on page four - I've just posted the damn notes. And yet, if I change the topic we have achieved a new lowest posting day, which I find nauseating at this time of year. Therefore, I am not changing the topic and that's that. I suggest we get some postin' goin' on - I do believe George, for example, has been extremely errant and truant quite a bit, especially recently. So, post away.
-
We only had 14 dozen cookies to sell for all 900 people in today's matinee audience.
-
Fortunately, not every one of the 900 people actually wanted a cookie, but we still ran out.
-

Don't blame it all on me! I was performing in a show! Tonight was our last performance, so I'll get to be home in the evenings again.
-
After working concessions, I had to print more programs for tonight's last performance.
-
I had printed some for last night's show, but I accidentally left them at work and didn't have time to go back and get them by the time I actually remembered that I'd left them there.
-
I don't know if the audience minded, but they didn't have a choice. :-\
-
Tonight, we had 15 people in the audience, and they LOVED it!
-
They were laughing at all the funny bits.
-
They definitely were our best audience.
-
A great way to end the run on.
-
Another GREAT way that we ended the run is that we got $278.00 in donations tonight!
-
Well, some of it might not have been from tonight.
-
That is how much was in our donation box, but I know that the three checks were written tonight.
-
Some of the cash was in the box earlier.
-
I only take out the donation money at the end of a run.
-
And since we're finally so close...
-
PAGE FIVE DANCE!!
-
Continued show vibes for DR TCB
~~~Ditto!!~~~
(Even though it's after the fact. ::) )
-
.... closing night vibes for DR GEORGE.
Thanks, Jrand!
-
I need to ketchup on all of today's posts.
Sunday (today, actually) is my friend Margo's birthday.
-
One ofher daughters is organizing a surprise lunch at The Iron Rabbit.
-
It's a local restaurant that serves Margo's most favorite burgers!
-
Margo told me before that they can cost up to $18!
-
I went there once several years ago and don't remember the burgers being that expensive, but that does't mean that there weren't any that were that expensive...I just don't remember.
-
We're supposed to ge there at noon.
-
I don't know how many people will actually be there, but Margo's pretty outgoing, so I would assume that there will be a lot of people there.
-
I have a few DVDs that I burned for her, so I'll bring those...I just need to find them all.
-
I have a stack of DVD-Rs, but they're not labeled.
-
I'll need to watch them to see if any are the ones I wanted to give her.
-
Well, today's not the lowest posting day NOW!
:D
-
And since it's Sunday...
A Very Happy Birthday to (former) DR PennyO!!
-
Good morning!
-
Continued show vibes for DR TCB
~~~Ditto!!~~~
(Even though it's after the fact. ::) )
Actually, we have a matinee tomorrow.
-
And then we have strike.
-
So, several of us went to Applebee's after the show.
-
Since we are not having a cast party.
-
Blame it on strike, blame it on the holidays. Either way, no farewell tomorrow.
-
It has been a strange experience all the way around.
-
And then we have strike.
We didn't strike our set. It turns out that we're adding one performance on January 7.
-
And then we have strike.
We didn't strike our set. It turns out that we're adding one performance on January 7.
Why are you adding a performance that day?
