Well, you've read the notes, the notes had a craving for kishka and there were other stories, and now it is time for you to post until the storied cows come home.

From yesterday:
And then we have strike.

We didn't strike our set.  It turns out that we're adding one performance on January 7.

Why are you adding a performance that day?

I think one reason is that because we didn't have any Sunday night performances, the people involved with Harlequin's show didn't get to see our show.  Several people involved in their show have worked with TAO and wanted to see our show.  And our show doesn't cost anything, so why not?

;)

A brief announcement:

They fought for the right for gay marriage and now comes the divorce. It’s a new look at a very different “Private Lives”. In new the comedy “Brunch Before the Airport”, by Michael D. Shayne:

Dexter & Justin and Richard & Declan are married and unknowingly honeymooning in adjoining suites on Fire Island. The only problem is Dexter and Richard were once a couple and by chance they meet and fall in love with each other all over again and leave their new spouses behind as they escape to NYC.

If you are in Southeast Florida today (DECEMBER 18TH) at 2pm stop by NOVEL TEA at 2043 Wilton Dr. Wilton Manors, FL 33305 FREE ADMISSION, so the price is right.

If you can't make as most of you are not in the area if you can let any of your friends in the area know about it would most appreciated.

Thanks

This afternoon at 2, I'm meeting Diana Montague - my Aunt Minnie on the Roberta recording - for coffee.  She's in the Metropolitan Opera production of Roméo et Juliette directed by Bartlett Sher, and last night she saw his Broadway production of Fiddler on the Roof. I haven't seen her since the August 2013 recording, and I'm looking forward to it.

Yesterday, the temperature also went from 78 to 32 in a matter of minutes. It's really cold here now and extremely windy (winds up to 30 mph). When I drove home last night the wind was blowing cars around. You couldn't the sober drivers from those who had had a few too many.

After the lunch, I went to the mall and walked around for a while.  Talk about crowded, but I lucked out and got a parking space fairly quickly.  I went to the Verizon store and at first was told that it would be a 20-25 minute wait.  I said that I just had a question.  I'd heard that because I work for the Timberland Library (specifically, not just any library), I could get a discount on my bill.  The woman said yes!  And she was able to help me right away.  I had to show either a work badge or a pay stub, and I was able to bring up my pay stub on my phone because I keep the e-mailed copies in my work e-mail, which I can access from anywhere.  It turns out that Timberland employees get an 18% discount from Verizon!  Why didn't they tell us about this at work?  I found out from a fellow employee who just happened to mention it during lunch time.  No one else at the time knew about it.  They will now!

They all think they can.

You have hit the proverbial nail on the proverbial head, proverbially.  This director, especially, who is the current flavor in LA and who has a playground now at the Annenberg (a lovely seven hundred seat space), and I'm sure we'll have many more productions with his "vision."  I'll talk about the show and the production in the notes, but for something they had to spend three or four million dollars on, the sheer cockiness of these people is breathtaking, because I don't think there's a one of them whose assumption was they a) didn't "fix" the show, and b) that it would go directly to Broadway.  That's what happened with this guy's production of Spring Awakening - all the rage in LA, and a total money loser (I mean every cent) on Broadway.

If you like a production where the lights are the major player in the show, this one's for you.

I've been baking gingerbread cut-outs and watching THE SOUND OF MUSIC and am feeling quite Christmasy tonight.

Sounds like fun.

Mary Linda came down from upstairs to investigate the aroma.

Just read most of the reviews for this production of Merrily.  Most favorable, with a couple of decidedly non-favorable.  People for whom this show is very personal (for whatever reasons, and I have mine for why it resonates so much for them), will love it in ANY production and think the latest is the greatest or the one that has solved a show that will never be solved.  And most, of course, are written by bloggers and therefore are meaningless in the scheme of things.

Kool and the Gang played at the USAA holiday party last night, and it was a load of fun. I think they've been given a bum rap over the years for being a disco band, when funk is a better descriptor.

They had a great horn section including the original saxophonist and two trumpeters. Kool was playing bass, and they tore through their hits, including, of course, "Celebrate," "Ladies Night," "Joanna" and "Jungle Boogie."

As new head of alter guild I was supposed to supervise the greening of the church at 1 but I told the pastry that I could  not be there.

***editors note****

I said nothing to the pastry , I did speak to the Pastors.  We were in the kitchen at the time so the pastry may have overheard the conversation but I can't help it if Apple Danish and munchkins choose to eavesdrop

Listening to some Korngold now, after much Roy Harris, a composer I like but don't love, save for a couple of pieces.  But well worth hearing.  But Korngold - what an amazing composer.  Heard is Symphony, and am now going through all the film music Varese Sarabande CDs, all original recordings that son George produced.  But now up is a George produced album of some Korngold themes, along with some other classic movie themes, conducted by Charles Gerhardt.  Great stuff.  Then King's Row, Anthony Adverse, and Robin Hood.
