Well, you've read the notes, the notes had seven veils and danced, and now it is time for you to post until the dancing cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: CRAMBO!
-
Happy Friday the 13th, everyone!
;)
-
Good morning to all
-
Good morning, all.
-
On this lovely Friday the 13th!
-
I think I get to mostly stay around home today.
Have to finish recording these audition tracks, then get back to some other good musical work.
-
BK didn't announce the TOD, but...
CD - The Little Mermaid, original Broadway cast, just to basically familiarize myself with it.
DVD - Hammer House of Horror, a set passed on to me by DR Elmore a couple of years back which I'm watching straight through this time. It's an amazingly high quality one-off season of stories populated with well conceived characters, excellent actors, and good scores.
-
I think there's a potentially great Hammer/Amicus-style horror story just waiting to be written, involving some runny mac-and-cheese...
-
Happy and productive Friday VIBES for all!
-
Good morning, all.
-
Listening to The Hamilton Mixtape. Got season three of A Place to Call Home to Start and an Eddie Murphy movie called Harlem Nights.
-
It's already 68. Rains expected.
-
Good morning, all!
-
I could not sleep last night. Some time after 2am I finally passed out, I feel quite lethargic, Once I get some breakfast I must get to work on my taxes. It' the best thing to do this weekend while I'm waiting on more New Yorkers material.
-
Elmore - congrats on the successful orchestra play-through!
-
Catching up on yesterday.
So great to have DR Kerry back!!!
-
Elmore - congrats on the successful orchestra play-through!
Thanks. I wouldn't call it a "success" as much as a big relief. It was profitable to hear how everything that's been accomplished so far - my new scores, Joshie's new scores, the Jimmy Durante materials, and the Fred Waring materials - sound and to see what needs to be done with everything. Since I had the majority of the new orchestrations, I was concerned over how much they fit in acoustically with the original materials.
-
I just treated myself to a small hot chocolate, though with the amount of chocolate I always add it is really a large chocolate with half the amount of milk.
-
Good Morning.
Happy Friday to All.
That is all for now.
-
I just treated myself to a small hot chocolate, though with the amount of chocolate I always add it is really a large chocolate with half the amount of milk.
I need a cup of hot chocolate this morning. Happily, our GetGoes Mobile Café will be here shortly and I'll get myself a nice, large hot chocolate to warm my bones.
-
Add some Godiva liqueur to that Hot chocolate.
-
I'm up, I'm up - a little over eight hours of sleep. Sun is out, so perhaps we've had our rain for this week.
-
I'm at work, so....oh, well.
Love that Godiva Chocolate Liqueur, though.

Add some Godiva liqueur to that Hot chocolate.
Cinnamon or Mexican chocolate, never liqueur for me.

RIP - William Peter Blatty, 89.

Friday afternoon greetings! We were outta here about 8am to go to IHOP for breakfast before my eye doctor appointment. I'm one week out for my left eye and two for the right and he says they "couldn't look better." I go back 3 weeks from today for a refraction that will determine if I need any kind of prescription glasses.
-
I have my hot chocolate and oh! boy! is it good!

Make sure you use only your eyes and not your feet in determining what happens.
Otherwise......s-l-i-i-i-i-i-i-i-i-i-i-p-p-p-p-p-p-p-p-p-e-r-y!

From the doctor's office, we went to the showroom of the company that did our kitchen countertops a couple of years ago. Today's discussion was about replacing our bathtub with a walk-in shower. We hope to have that work done in February when our upstairs housemates are away and we can use their bathroom without intruding.

It's supposed to arrive here by midnight, so we're probably in for a while.

Anyone have thoughts on the subject of Bailey's vs. Godiva Liqueur?

Two different animals in my book.

Topic of the Day: right now, I'm listening to Little Fish (http://castalbums.org/recordings/Little-Fish-2007-Concert-Cast/9287/). I'm not loving it...not hating it, either. ::)

That's great, Ginny!

I have my hot chocolate and oh! boy! is it good!
What chocolate do they use? Is it made with steamed milk?
Dunno!
Since it's a mobile café, I'm imagining the milk is steamed.
It is whole milk. And the chocolate is very rich and satisfying.
-
Am eating lunch.
Chicken-fried rice with green beans and chicken.
Egg Rolls, too.
Yum.
-
My tax receipts are sorted and now organized in their correct envelopes. Tomorrow, I'll start tallying things.

Probably steamed then. Next time ask what the chocolate is ;)
-
I did it! Thanks DR Jrand.
-
Jane, that's a great new avatar. :)
-
Thank you.

The hat was a little big and slid down as I walked. After we returned home I noticed a tag that came with it mentioned inserts for the hat to fit better. It already came with a sweat band in the front that attaches to Velcro. I called the company and they sent me several different inserts to use, free of charge. I will just switch them out with the thin, comfortable, band that is already there.
-
I am waiting for a phone call from the dermatologist's office. Maybe if I go read the call will come in. Sitting at the computer with my phone and list of questions is not making it happen, kind of like watching a pot boil ;)
-
Very nice DR JANE - glad it worked so well!
-
Slow news day at HHW......
-
I think everyone has eaten too many eggrolls
-
So, Jack....were there no close calls last night during the "wolf moon"?
Were any hackles raised? Any fangs bared? Any shedding on the furniture?
-
Back from a fun video shoot at LACC, then a great lunch at House of Pies. I only futzed and finessed half of the pages from yesterday so I am way behind where I should be - but I'll finish futzing and finessing right now and then buckle down, Winsocki and write as many new pages as I can.
-
I am the only person on my side of the office suite...the only person remaining in my division.
I feel so bereft.
And I got here before all of them arrived, too.
It's hell being "the dedicated one" sometimes.
-
You can win, BK, if you knuckle down.
-
What is this, a challenge?
-
Who can get us to page 3 first?
-
Am I having to go it alone?
-

Very nice DR JANE - glad it worked so well!
Thank you :)

Well, I'm off now. I'm going to my parents' for our weekly family dinner and game playing night.
Be back later.
-
I just spoke to Joshie. He and Rob had the orchestra playthru for Big River today. I wanted to go, but I do not particularly like the orchestrator Danny Troob, and this was his day. I think Troob's work is usually excellent, but I don't we once worked on a recording together and , while I was looking forward to meeting him, he was completely unfriendly ad unsocial. I'll go to the sitzprobe next month and see the Saturday matinee of the show and try to avoid him. That's plenty.
Tomorrow , Joshie and some friends leave for a well-deserved vacation in Los Angeles and Las Vegas. I will miss him, but this gives me a week to deal with taxes and Guys & Dolls.
-

I am a Godiva fan
-
Of course my husband is from Coventyr so ...

I feel your pain and congratulate you on your dedication

We went out to dinner, returned, and just a little bit ago the dermatologist's office "returned" my call. She actually called to schedule an appointment to remove a couple of things based on my biopsy. I was shocked they hadn't been removed, no they were just biopsied. Darn.
-
I then snagged her with my questions regarding an awful procedure the doctor wants me to have to get rid of ALL the pre-cancerous lesions on my face. The procedure gives you a sunburn and for 48 hours you can't even go near windows. The part that will make me go bonkers is where she said I shouldn't even be doing 4 miles on a treadmill with a sunburn let alone walking outside 4-8 miles. :o
I have had sunburns that lasted weeks, which is probably why I need this treatment. :(
-
I've been writing dutifully for the last four hours. I did have a lovely visit with Richard Sherman, who brought me the first hot off the press copy of the sheet music for The Whimsey Works, lovingly signed to me (and the cover even says "From Bruce Kimmel's L.A. Now and Then".
-
I've written over seven pages, so just three-and-a-half to go. I will say that about two of those pages were additions to an earlier section - I wanted more detail so I did a little research and added it and it's much better now. I'm hoping to get most of the way through the current chapter, although this chapter may end up being longer than the average of twenty pages the other chapters are.
-
I already know the final chapter will be at least as long as the first chapter, maybe even longer.
-
Just another page and a half to go now. Break time until about ten, at which point I'll take a hot shower and see if I get any fun ideas.
-
Tomorrow at 8 am we wil have another try for permanent crowns For my implants ...hopefully the third time wil be the charm
-
GOOD Luck!
-
Good evening!

Page 3 at 9:00 p.m.?

Where the heck is everybody?
-
CROWN vibes for DR Vixmom!

She is married to a Brit.
-
Today was a blah day.
-
Yesterday, when I left the house to go to lunch with my friends, the little kitty from Hell (from upstairs) was waiting by my door.
-
I tried to stop him, but he ran into the apartment.
-
I was stuck in the doorway in my scooter.
-
I drove the scooter into the outside hall and left it there while I went back in to the apartment.
-
By this time, the kitty was eating Nicky's food.
-
And, of course, I am trying to hold on to the wall to get back to my wheelchair.
-
Page 4!
-
Anyone have thoughts on the subject of Bailey's vs. Godiva Liqueur?
I would have to have a few side by side samples in order to form a more scientifically informed opinion.
-
Of course, Nicky has now spotted the kitty and is freaking out.
-
Topic of the Day: right now, I'm listening to Little Fish (http://castalbums.org/recordings/Little-Fish-2007-Concert-Cast/9287/). I'm not loving it...not hating it, either. ::)
;D
I liked Alice Ripley and I liked some of the score. but it's not my favorite LaChiusa score.
-
I try to get to the kitty and he takes off.
-
So, now, the chase is on.
-
The kitty takes off behind the sofa.
-
I manage to get Nicky into the bedroom and close the door, since the front door is wide open.
-
I am now half crawling, half stumbling around the living room hoping I can chase the kitty out the door.
-
This kitty is not dumb. He knows he can outsmart the crippled guy.
-
The kitty is avoiding me and avoiding the open front door.
-
Fortunately for me, the kitty discovers the catnip that I sprinkled on the carpet for Nick.
-

I remember Danny from way back in the day when he was composing a show call "All Bets Off" with Jamie Donnelly. He was very shy and I think he'd rather compose than orchestrate, but them's the breaks, as William Shakespeare used to say. I think his work on Big River is excellent and I liked some his work for Disney. But I really disliked his work on Cinderella.
-
He is now hooked on catnip.
-
I grab the damn kitty, and all four claws dig into the carpet.
-
Crown vibes for Vixmom!
-
I pry his claws out of the carpet and struggle to get to the front door.
-
Loving the kitty story, TCB.
-
Great avatar, Jane!
-
I make it to the door, and manage to resist the urge to throw the cat across the hall.
-
I have no way to call the people upstairs, and the old lady obviously prefers to have the cat outside rather than inside.
-

Now you can eat Star Wars.
-
Where in tarnation IS everyone? I guess I'll put the motor car away, take a hot shower, and then see about the page and a half I still would like to write.
-
So, I get back from lunch 2 1/2 hours later, and get to my door and there is hell kitty ready to go back in my apartment.
I like the name Hell Kitty.
-
We're almost there.
-
Five!
-
The kids across the hall are still at work, and neither upstairs neighbor can hear anything.
-
page five? Really?
-
A lot of dancing tonight.
-
So, I am yelling like crazy and nobody can hear me.
-
Watching the start of Harlem Nights, a movie produced, written and directed by, and starring Eddie Murphy.
Richard Pryor is wonderful.
-
Finally I call the manager's office to see if he can call the neighbor, but he doesn't answer the phone.
-
The kitty who has been climbing all over me and my scooter finally gives up interest that I am going to open the door, and heads outside.
-
I then race inside and slam the door.
-
But now I feel trapped in my apartment.
-
I am afraid to go to the mail or to take out the garbage or even go to the store.
-
I never do hear back from the message I left the manager, so who knows if anything is going to be done about the damn kitty.
-
I don't blame the kitty. It is 34 degrees outside, I would want to go into a warm apartment rather than stay outside.
-
But it isn't my damn kitty!
-
Bad kitty!
-
I'm off to bed. Good night, all.
-
Hell Kitty!!
-
Good night, John, sorry I was blabbing.
-
Or was that babbling?
-
Loving the kitty story, TCB.
So am I.
-
Great avatar, Jane!
Thanks.

Poor Kitty. Too bad Nicky doesn't like Hell Kitty.

DR TCB, I do hope the people can be made to understand the danger to you and that they need to keep their cat inside during the winter.

In a happy happenstance, I'd miscalculated the number of pages written and I was actually finished :) But I wrote another page just because I could and I'm always inspired after a hot shower.

Listening to my beloved Ravel - his music never gets old no matter how much you listen to it. If you don't know it, you really need to.
-
Especially his Valses Nobles et Sentimentales. It's one of my all-time favorite pieces of music EVER and was clearly an inspiration for Mr. Sondheim in the writing of A Little Night Music. I recently got a performance of it conducted by Pierre Boulez that's pretty terrific and it has the famous piano concerto in G, too. Great CD with great sound. I have also always enjoyed Charles Munch's performance on RCA - that CD was always considered an audiophile's dream - maybe one day it will be an SACD. All of Mr. Munch's other Ravel on RCA have been put on SACD and they're incredible, especially the complete Daphnes and Chloe.
-
I'm home from the parents' house, have watched tonight's episode of "Emerald City," and have caught up with all the posts. And now...

I liked Alice Ripley and I liked some of the score. but it's not my favorite LaChiusa score.
What I found interesting is that it's a show about a woman trying to quit smoking and Alice Ripley, who played the smoker on this recording, was also involved in an early version of another show, The Last Smoker in America (http://castalbums.org/recordings/Last-Smoker-in-America-The-Demo/10280/), and even sang a song from that show in the concert "Raw at Town Hall (http://castalbums.org/recordings/Raw-at-Town-Hall-2006-Alice-Ripley-and-Emily-Skinner/4545)," recorded by our very own BK. :)

DR TCB, I do hope the people can be made to understand the danger to you and that they need to keep their cat inside during the winter.
I know! I just don't understand how people allow ther pets to go outside in this kind of weather. :-\

...assuming the owners chose to let their pets go out.
