Well, you've read the notes, if the notes were happy, I'm happy, and now it is time for you to post until the happy cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: SATORI!
-
First post after BK!
-
Second post after BK!
-
Last night, I made the mistake of checking out what my friends, and friends of friends, have been posting on the FacePlace (as Kathy Griffin's mother calls it).
;)
-
Talk about depressing. :( And I think you can guess why.
-
I don't think I need to check out what my FB friends are posting again for quite a while. I'm sure my e-mail notifications will be good enough.
-
Talk about depressing. :( And I think you can guess why.
I can't guess why.
-
Talk about depressing. :( And I think you can guess why.
I can't guess why.
It's mostly all about Trump and how bad he is and how bad the country will become with him as president, and even just skimming the headlines of the posted links is depressing.
-
So, to counteract all that negativity, I'm watching a TV special that I recorded: Taking the Stage: African American Music and Stories That Changed America (http://abc.go.com/movies-and-specials/taking-the-stage-african-american-music-and-stories-that-changed-america). Now, this is inspiring. :)

And in other good news, today, I'm having lunch with my friend David. He and his wife moved to Seattle last month and I haven't seen them since then. She won't be at lunch with us, though, because she has to work. It'll be fun!
-
Too many naps, today.
-
Tom, I hope you're eventually able to sleep well after having too many naps.
-
And speaking of sleep, it's time that I get some. I don't know when David would want to meet for lunch, so I need to be ready sometime before the afternoon.
Good night, Tom.
-
Good morning, all!
-
This is a physical therapy morning and I am all set! A little slerepy, but I'm ready.
-
Thoughts for you on this anniversary day DR TCB.
-
Last night I watched this new PBS series on the life of Queen Victoria. I liked it but I thought much of it was choppy, as though entire important scenes and information were removed for length, amd I was wondering about so much of the household plots that were going on, from tallow candles to rats. Was one of the queen's maids really a former prostitute?
-
Thoughts for you on this anniversary day DR TCB.
Yes! My sympathies, DR TCB. I know how grisly these days can be.
-
good morning to all

I missed the fact that this weekend was the 40th anniversary of a production of Jacques Brel Is ALive and Well and Living in Paris.
-
Monday, January 16th, marks the 75th anniversary of the death of Carole Lombard in a plane crash outside of Las Vegas.
Monday also marks the 25th anniversary of the debut of my one-woman stage play, LOMBARD. It opened, under my direction, in the Greater Los Angeles area on January 16, 1992 with Taylor Leigh playing the title role.

-
Good morning, all.
-
Maybe your subconscious thought of Brel the other day for you, Elmore.
-
Monday morning greetings. My sister and her husband arrived last night on their way home to Michigan after 2+ months in Florida. We took dinner to their hotel and ate with them in the breakfast room, but didn't stay long because they were exhausted after 2 long driving days.
-
Today my sister and I are going to Mom's to "go through some things" she's wants us to have. Pray for Rosemary's baby...

It's a work day for the likes of me

Coffee!

My teeth work fine but I am not crazy about the way they look
-
I have another appointment tonight

I liked the look of my temporary bridge very much wonder if they can work on the implant crowns to make them look more like those
-
Yesterday I commenced the degreening of the house

{{{{{Hugs}}}}} to DR TCB...
And more hugs.
-
The ornaments are off the tree and put away. The stockings are stored and so are the various hangings and house ornaments. Just the bare tree to be disassembled and stored now...
-
Vibes for TCB!
Although I don't go through this myself, I'm all too familiar with what my dad goes through on the double whammy of my mom's birthday (Sept. 10) and their wedding anniversary (Sept. 11). She died in 1995. He greatly surprised himself by finding someone who he remarried a few years later, then his second wife died in 2009 -- but he says the first is the one you don't get over, especially after being together for close to fifty years.
-
Any one here have Verizon? We are looking at switching... They have offered us twice the data and three new smart phones ( the same one Vixdad AT&T charged $300 for) And they will pay off the ATT phone for the same price that we are paying ATT after 20+ years of being wireless customers and 30 + years of landline customers
-
I had not caught up but the above posts made me go and look....
-
Sending love and hugs to TCB.... I am so sorry
-
Yesterday I commenced the degreening of the house
Same thing happened here. This was the longest we've kept a tree, but this one did so well we just kept putting it off. We got it Thanksgiving weekend, and it was "alive and well" for seven (count 'em) weeks.
-
I have Verizon for the cell phones (the three here are on a "family plan"). Landline is still Frontier who took over the AT&T stuff here.
Started with Cingular then jumped to Verizon ten years ago because they had the best and most complete coverage where we needed it. For all I know, that could have changed by now.
-
And my smartphone is woefully in need of replacement. It's "only" about four years old, but I guess that's ancient in phone years. It's gotten abominably slow, and its reception on both wifi and cellular has gotten poor.
I just hate the ordeal of researching phones.
-
Our degreening is almost complete, too. We need Rob's help for toting boxes to the basement and shrink-wrapping the tree. The angel collection will stay on the piano until after Richard and I return from ALA Midwinter in Atlanta next week.
-
Yesterday I resolved a problem that had been bugging me all week. The MIDI interface between my keyboard (the one with the black and white keys) and this laptop had seemed to be following my cell phone into decrepitude, which I discovered when I couldn't get proper performance out of Music Theatre International's RMS Keyboard Solutions which we're using for The Little Mermaid. Turned out the interface's driver and software had gone south on me -- and not to Florida. I uninstalled it, downloaded the recommended version, then the firmware wanted to be updated so I took care of that, and voila! ... Bob was my uncle. Beautiful sounds, all working perfectly and going where they should. I'm a happy boy, and greatly relieved.
-
DR Vixmom, we have Verizon. Always have and I've never been motivated to research anything else.
-
Glad to hear everyone's plans are shaping up for the Great HHW Encores! Meetup.
Mine are in order, too -- lodging and transportation all set, requiring almost no effort at all! :D
-
I don't think I need to check out what my FB friends are posting again for quite a while. I'm sure my e-mail notifications will be good enough.
Fortunately I have many friends that post photos of Bernese Mountain Dogs and cats photos. Many others are talented photographers.

Oh no! Vibes you simply need an easy adjustment to be pleased with them!

Those dates are very close to each other. My mother passed away a few weeks before her birthday and it was always a difficult time. It helped to be distracted by our wedding anniversary in the middle of those dates, though I always recall the anniversary I spent in L.A. while Keith was in Pennsylvania. I am very grateful for every anniversary I spend with Keith.

We switched from T-mobile to Verizon for better service in Ashland, and back to T-Mobile here for better service and price.
-
Good news DR CHAS SMITH!
-
DR DRUXY.....I think some people forget that Miss Lombard's death was only about five and half weeks after Pearl Harbor - at the very beginning of the war.....
-
Got my Airbnb for New York. It's on 10th Avenue.
10th Avene and what street?

Physical therapy was great! I walked in, there was hardly anyone there. No wait. i was out in 90 minutes.
-
Today my sister and I are going to Mom's to "go through some things" she's wants us to have. Pray for Rosemary's baby...
It will help having your sister with you.

I never really thought about that.

Nice.

I liked that my last physical therapist, for my shoulder, had his own office.

I'm up, I'm up - was up at nine-thirty, thirty minutes earlier than I wanted to be, thanks to the incessant pounding of the house being built.
-
I had to take care of a little business task, so I got that out of the way and now I shall futz and finesse.
-
And speaking of sleep, it's time that I get some. I don't know when David would want to meet for lunch, so I need to be ready sometime before the afternoon.
Good night, Tom.
I heard from David and we're going to meet at 3:00 pm.
-
Just had to share. :)

I've had Verizon for more than 10 years and have had great coverage. The only time it seems that I've lost calls is when talking with friends whose service (T-Mobile, mostly) had a tendency to drop calls.
-
I just heard from David again, asking to meet at 2:00 instead of 3:00, which means I need to get ready now. Ihave to rake a shower, shave, get dressed, then leave. I'll be back.
Have a good day, all!
-
Good afternoon!

Vibes to DR TCB.
-
I had lunch with my former co-worker Dan. It was nice to see him.
-
This has been a lazy day. After no therapy for over a week, my leg is not happy, so I' finding excuses to do little. I'll feel more active and comfortable tomorrow.
-
Joshie and his friends are in LA this week. It's neat that they all went to see The King & I on tour with his orchestrations yesterday.
-
More vibes for TCB.
-
They really don't know how to plow snow here. The roads are rather icy and bumpy to ride on in areas.
-
I still want cake from looking at that picture from DR KERRY two days ago. I think I will buy a cake tomorrow.
-
Joshie hasn't called me. I'm in LA, you know.
-
I've done about seven pages so far, so four more and that will be that although I'm sure I'll write two beyond that. I futzed and finessed quite a bit, adding a few things, smoothing out other things. After that I wrote about a page-and-a-half, then went and had a patty melt with no fries or onion rings, came home, had some of that Thrifty cherry chocolate chip ice cream and wrote five-and-a-half new pages. Now I'll take a break so I can think of more things for this chapter, just for the three pages or so, then I know what follows that, and what follows that. All that stuff should hopefully take me to the end of this current chapter.

Yes, it will...
And it was. Nancy and I helped Mom clean out the drawers in her dresser and 2 small chests. Tomorrow we'll tackle the big chest of drawers and a couple of cupboards. Mom's a little out of touch with current reality, but told us all about the bracelet she lost more than 70 years ago.

Eight pages. I'm tired.

I bet she still wonders where that bracelet. I know how she feel ;D

My neighbor/friend is going to the Women's march in DC. In fact, knowing I had a couch to sleep on, she invited me to go. I had said it would be too cold there and now it will be nicer weather than here and I could have seen Craig.
Yesterday I asked if she was wearing a pink pussycat cat. Today she forwarded her response to an email telling her how to make one.
"Thanks for this but I don't knit plus I promised my neighbor Jane that I wouldn't wear one. She did not have to twist my arm!"
:D

No, she knows exactly what happened to the bracelet and can tell you about it great detail. But she couldn't remember what she'd just eaten for lunch.

Hmmm, I wonder if in the future I will still be lamenting the watch I lost while hiking in Canada, or my mother's black pearls. At least they weren't valuable money wise, just special to me.

Finished the first draft of Act I.

My sister's best find today was Mom's wedding ring. For their 25th anniversary, our parents designed her a new ring using her engagement diamond, a diamond her father had given her (he died when she was in high school), and 8 or 10 tiny diamonds from her Eastern Star ring. It is stunning, but she stopped wearing all her rings when she lost so much weight she couldn't keep them on. We thought she'd stowed them away someplace special, but the wedding ring was just thrown in with some junk and a couple of her other special rings were in with some costume jewelry. We've finally convinced her that if she thinks something is valuable it shouldn't be in her room.
-
WOW. Who will keep the ring?
-
It sounds beautiful.
-
Congratulations DR Druxy.
-
WOW. Who will keep the ring?
Not sure, DR Jane...
-
It is a shame it isn't being worn.
-
Congratulations, DR Druxy.

Getting sucked into A Place to Call Home all over again.
-
Elmore, why did you ask on the Airbnb? Is the neighborhood OK?
-
I'm going to have lunch with Peter Filichia while I'm in the city. I have exchanged emails with him for years, so that promises to be fun. And I'm getting together with a friend I used to work with when we lived in Catskill, N.Y.
-
Those who have seen any of the current shows on Broadway, are there any I should seek out while I'm there? I have one recommendation for Anastasia, which I do want to see.

Page four? Really?

Hello, 0 guests!

What's your favorite dish to take to a potluck?
-
I can't decide on what to take to one at work later this week.

I found a recipe for a blackberry salad with feta cheese and pickled onions that looks really good. But it's probably not what people at work would eat.

Vixmom, can you sell them? I've seen used phones on eBay, even phones locked to a specific carrier. Might be an option for you, especially since you have four of them. Just a thought.

The sheer incompetence with which we were confronted this evening was staggering

I'm sorry but that sentence, in all its glory, gave me just the laugh I needed.

I don't know. Paperweights can be useful -- as weapons, doorstops, regifts. Are they all branded with Verizon logos?

Oh no they are the AT&T phones we arrived with. The young woman behind the counter had four pat answers for every question
-
I am new
I don't know about that
I'm not sure
It's not my fault
-
I'd DR Elmore had been there he would have beaten her to death with his cane
-
Vixdad and I would have cheered him on
-
And the young man (the only other employee present) would not have ceased his texting for a moment

John your sudden change of avatar confused me

But I like it

That's the attitude!

Thank you. I got a new pair of cheap sunglasses and had to try them on. These advertise Grand Marnier.

I actually finished the eleven pages about ninety minutes ago, but I do think I'll write another page or two after the hot shower. I can probably even write one before the hot shower. I was listening to come music in iTunes, in the S's. And then on comes the third movement of the Rachmaninov Symphony 2. That's right, without the two movements before it. That's because the Adrian Boult complete performance isn't available on CD, but this one movement was on a compilation. This is the performance that caused me to pull to the side of the road because I found it so beautiful. Oh, how I wish the rest of this performance was out on CD. It's beautiful. There are more beautiful and longer versions than this (this is the cut version of the symphony) but this was my first and I love it.

Thanks, George.

Keith isn'the feeling well and the light from my tablet is bothering him so......'night
-
Good evening!
-
Thank you all for the good vibes today.
-
Believe me, they really helped.
-
For some reason, this year was worse than the last several.
-
My sister called, she was having a bad time this year, too.
-
Of course, she and her husband are on the outs, which hasn't helped.
-
My sister reminded me of the middle-of-the-night phone call I had to make to her early the next morning to break the news.
-
I don't understand what happened to Vixmom and Vixdad with the phones.
-
I had another attack from Hell Kitty today.
-
He busted into the apartment when I was returning from the store.
-
Another twenty minute chase around the apartment.
-
Nicky was not happy.
-
Neither was I.
-
Of course, the manager's office was closed for the holiday.
-
I felt very helpless.
-
Sorry, I will shut up now.
-
One more post to go.
