Well, you've read the notes, the notes were in the home stretch, and now it is time for you to post until the home stretch cows come home.

I was gone all day, yesterday.  Sorry about that.  Work interfered with my HHW reading.  I hate it when that happens.

Since I knew the drill (excuse the expression), I silently counted along with the nurse up to the one hundred laser blasts.

From yesterday's Topic of the Day:  What are your favorite historical novels?

Benjamin Kritzer
Go Set a Watchman
Les Misérables

The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie: A Flavia de Luce Novel
To Kill a Mockingbird

And deserving of a special mention:
William Shakespeare's Star Wars: Verily, A New Hope (it's a play, but it is set a long time ago... ;) )

I have my weekend work: I brought home three scores from City Center for fixes and changes.  There's no major rewriting but things I'm unhappy with and want to repair:
a. Go Into Your Dance needs half of the last chorus rescored - about 16 bars - to fit better with the dance arrangement
b. The Great Indoors needs some work on the verse; my orchestration is too polite at the moment.
c. I need to correct some sloppiness in my score for I Happen to Like New York.

I futzed and finessed only half the pages from yesterday's writing because I had to smooth out a LOT of things, plus add a few things, remove a few things, and smooth out a major thing that happened that I hadn't written well at ALL.
Title: Re: THE HOME STRETCH

Then I went and had a chili, cheese, and onion hot dog and a few fries, then came right home.  And now I shall finish futzing and finessing and then try to write at least three or four new pages.  It's been pouring rain here, but the sun is now trying to make an appearance.  Thus LA.

Five pages and time for a little break again.  Then I'll try to do three more, and that will leave three to five more to do over the course of the evening.  By the end of this evening I should be coming to the final sequence of the book, which I'm really looking forward to writing.

Now the sun is out -- and BRIGHT!

Vixmom, I read your Verizon posts. How awful! I had Verizon in Alexandria, VA for my two landlines. I had no choice. Every time it rained one of the landlines would cease to function. I'd call and complain, they'd send someone out, said someone would caulk the cable, and then with the next rain the cycle would start all over again. They CLAIM they'd fix it once and for all, but never did.

My next-door neighbor was charged every month for EIGHT YEARS for a line at her previous residence. She went round and round with them. Her son-in-law, an attorney, couldn't be bothered to help.

My opinion of Verizon? I'll let you guess. But given some of the positive experiences posted here, I surmise that the quality of their service is largely a local matter.
Title: Re: THE HOME STRETCH

I currently have T-Mobile for wireless. I'm not happy with them. I had better connectivity with AT&T, who I was anxious to leave because of high prices and sometimes-awful customer service. But T-Mobile's customer service has been just as bad as AT&T's and I only save about $10/month.

I read about some smaller companies that rent space from AT&T and Verizon, but charge less. One is Cricket. I don't recall the name of the other. Has anyone had any experience with them?

Eight pages so far.  Three more to go and then we'll see how many beyond that I'll write.  I'll probably take a hot shower later and try to do an additional three then, and at that point I'll probably be in the last twenty to twenty-five pages, twenty being the more likely number.

I did finish the eleven pages, so anything else tonight is gravy, although I would like to do more because if I do I'll really have a shot at finishing tomorrow.  Although I do get a late start because she of the Evil Eye comes in the morning.  I may try to futz and finesse some of it before I leave, but then I'm away until noon, which is annoying.  Once I'm back, though, I will just try to start and then keep going without too many breaks.  But if for whatever reason I don't finish, then Sunday morning it will be.

Interesting collection of singers and songs. Ben Vereen sang "What a Wonderful World." Lillias White knocked "Don't Rain on My Parade" out of the park. My favorite was Brian Stokes Mitchell singing "God Bless America" and "Wheels of a Dream."

The whole cast of folks gathered for a finale of "Let the Sunshine In," which Vereen sang in Hair 50 years ago.

John G, your employer has medical facilities on the premises? I'm glad you found a cheaper way to take care of some of your health care.

Yes, I just got a bill from my kidney doctor. Aetna wouldn't pay for the CT scan I had to have last fall. $500. Ugh.

Will your doctor resubmit it?

Took the hot shower, got four little ideas of things to add to today's pages, so I went back and added them all - probably close to two pages - so I believe I've written about thirteen or fourteen pages in all.  I'm leaving the document open just in case I get inspired to finish the page I'm on or even do one more after that.

No George last night, no George tonight - most unseemly and a good, healthy bitch-slapping is in order.
