Well, you've read the notes, the notes were without too many stumbles, and now it is time for you to post until the stumbling cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: ATARAXIA!
-
And a happy haineshisway.com birthday to the long errant and truant dear reader Iris.
-
Good morning to all
-
Happy brithday to Iris!

TOD:
Rhapsody in Blue
Moonlight Sonata, in part due to fond memories of being "Lucy" in an all-male "You're a Good Man Charlie Brown"

FROM YESTERDAY
Vixmom
I went to Universal/Islands of Adventure and had a great time.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Coffee!
-
It's early in the morn', and I have a long day ahead.
-
I must, for instance, make a mermaid recording for a choreographer. (An Under the Sea playoff, nothing too extensive today.)
And then I'm off to Shop Rite and Petco and Costco for a few necessities, including gassing up the car.
Tonight, movie night at the friend's home theater. I believe we're watching The Mad Magician in 3D and probably just sampling a few other things.

Break Legs Vibes for BK and Company!
-
Last night I accompanied a friend to see M. Night Shyamalan's Split. I hadn't seen a film of his in a theater since Signs and The Sixth Sense, and I hadn't even been to the local Bijou in months, so it was nice to get back out for a movie.
The movie was good, and suspenseful, until just as things were beginning to come to a head near the end when he did something that I know "works" for a lot of people, but just doesn't for me, because in this case (again, for me), it breaks a certain ground rule. It wasn't his customary "twist", and indeed there is no twist, which is nice. There are also zero --count 'em-- jump scares, which I have to give as a compliment.
Regardless of my li'l complaint, it's one of his better films and the presence of Betty Buckley throughout is wonderful. I also enjoyed a delightful repast of chicken fingers and fries, and I vow to get back to the movies now and then. That absence was too long.
-
Good morning, all!
-
A City Center day. Before I arrive, I must stop at my pharmacy for February's meds.
-
I've listened to the Backbeard songs, read the libretto and the two children's books it's based on, and it's very silly fun. I haven't decided on what to add to the piano, bass and drums. My first instinct was accordion and banjo, but I'm also think about a violin or reed player. I need a discussion with the composer.
-
Good morning, all.
-
The Benadryl did its job of knocking me out. But the sleep was poor and I'm working from home until I can get more fully alert and together.
-
TOD:
I love Beethoven's piano concertos.
-
Favorite Piano:

Happy Thursday!
Or, for me, Happy 1st Friday of the week.
-
DR Chas, I enjoyed your movie report.
-
I wanna go to the movies.
-
Go to the movies, John G.

Thursday morning greetings! I've been to the dentist for an uneventful checkup and cleaning. Richard has received a call that my car is ready, so we'll go pick it up later.
-
Go to the movies, John G.
Find me the time, Ron.

Rhapsody in Blue
Moonlight Sonata, in part due to fond memories of being "Lucy" in an all-male "You're a Good Man Charlie Brown"
Ditto and Ditto! But not a ditto to playing "Lucy" in an all-male "You're a Good Man Charlie Brown."
;)
-
I did play Charlie Brown in a community theater production about 15 years ago, after the first time I lost weight. I lost about 120 pounds then...then gained back most (but not all) of it.
-
This time, I've lost about 70 pounds...so far. :)

Thanks for the report! I really want to see this, although I'll admit it's because Betty Buckley is in it. ;D
-
Do Scott Joplin rags count?
Of course!
-
Status report:
Errands run, recording made, mail brought in (nothing exciting).
I have one (1) free hour, and then I must prepare to leave for my evening of movie fun.
-
I forgot to mention this yesterday, but on the recording of Meredith Willson conducting arrangements of The Music Man score, I was very pleasantly surprised to hear otherwise-unrecorded bits of the "76 Trombones" dance segment (just a little of this one) and a good chunk of the "Marian the Librarian" dance -- a little re-orchestrated, but sounding wonderful. I grew to like the "Marian" dance a lot when working on it last year.

Well, it's finally up! The Timberland Regional Library (where I work) is celebrating Black History Month (http://www.trl.org/about/pages/BlackHistoryMonth.aspx). On this page are ways that they're celebrating the history and achievements of African Americans, and one of them is this:
"TRL staff have shared their voices in a mixed version of Martin Luther King, Jr.’s famous “I have a dream (http://media.trl.org/files/TRL-Staff-Read-MLK-Speech-2017.mp3)” speech."
I'm one of the readers! It's the full 10-minute speech, which I had never heard nor read in its entirety until now. :)
-
Home from City Center. I had a meeting with Rob and Joshie. there is much to accomplish before Feb. 23.
-
Piano and Orchestra:
Concerti by Mozart, Beethoven, Grieg, Tchaikovsky, Ravel, Gershwin
Liszt's "Totentanz" and "Hungarian Fantasy"
-
I'm up, I'm up - have been up since eight-thirty but just stayed in bed and did stuff on the iPad and went over my opening patter for tonight. About seven hours of sleep.

Speaking of weight loss!
What "diet" or program are the following men using?
Sean Murray (of "NCIS")
Lucas Black (of "NCIS: New Orleans")
Scott Bakula (of "NICE: New Orleans")
Jeffrey Dean Morgan (of "The Walking Dead")
All these guys are looking way too lean these days. Murray looks nearly anemic, but Black and Bakula look amazing.
-
Page two? Really?
-
Congratulations on the weight loss, George. That's wonderful.
-
I'm not bothering with pounds lost, but inches. I have lost one, two or three more would be nice.
-
Moonlight is back at the theater tomorrow. I will make every effort to see it this weekend.
-
Congratulations on the weight loss, George. That's wonderful.
Thanks, John.
-
Two job offers came in today. One from Susanna Moross Tarjan to do a complete orchestra score for Gentlemen, Be Seated! and one for a couple of orchestrations for the Boston Gay Men's Chorus 35th anniversary concert.

Great news, Larry. Congratulations!

Topic of the Day (addendum): Stephen Sondheim's "The Enclave" - incidental music, as recorded on Unsung Sondheim (http://www.cduniverse.com/productinfo.asp?PID=3633159&style=music&frm=lk_castalbums). I used this link because you can listen to musical samples.

Going by inches would never work for me. I would want to keep loosing them.

Good evening. I had a real scare. My coffee cup tipped over when I was making a meatloaf to take over to Kerry. The laptop was on the countertop so I could read the recipe. The computer wouldn't work all day. This afternoon I was able to get it on, although it wasn't working right. But now it seems to be working ok. No more laptop in the kitchen!

Good evening!

Have a good show, BK!

Instead of excising this morning I went to a neighbor's, along with other women in our building, for coffee. Then we had errands to do. I was deciding if I wanted to brave the wind & cold for a walk before it got dark when Keith asked if I wanted to go for a walk. It felt good and I doubt I would have gone if he hadn't. I prefer having someone solid to hold on to when the wind blows me over :D
-
Keith's motivation to walk is due to the possibility it might be too icy to go out tomorrow.
-
Hello, everyone.
-
Does anyone know how to change my current user name back to my older one?
-
Just wanted to say thank you, Hainesies and Kimlets, for the lovely birthday wishes.
🌻
-
DR Iris, it is lovely to see you on your birthday. I hope you are having a nice day. Here is a birthday iris for you.

Does anyone know how to change my current user name back to my older one?
You have two names and should find Iris* (I don't know why there is a * after Iris) is probably your original one.
-
Thank you, Jane, for the beautiful birthday iris!
-
You look so lovely in your new avatar. Great hat!
Which answers Sondheim's question, "Does anyone still wear a hat"?
🙂
-
Happy birthday, DR Dear Lurker Iris.
Irises are my favorite flower.
-
Four!
-
The irises have begun to bloom here.
-
Show vibes for BK and company!
-
The reason for that * is because I could never figure out how to change my original username, which was "Iris"......so the only way to log in was to change it.
I keep trying to log in as my original name, but it automatically shows up as Dear Lurker Iris.
-
If anyone can show me how to retrieve my original name, I would appreciate it.
Thanks!
-
Bruce, your March show sounds great. I adore Rupert Holmes.
Do you remember when he autographed his book for you, which I gave you as a birthday gift?
-
You look so lovely in your new avatar. Great hat!
Which answers Sondheim's question, "Does anyone still wear a hat"?
🙂
Thank you. Were you lurking when I was in Texas and purchased the hat? I couldn't resist it.
-
He calls you the West Coast Rupert Holmes, and refers to himself as the East Coast Bruce Kimmel.
😀

I wish I could help you. I think Dear Lurker Iris is charming.
-
No, Jane, have just seen it for the first time.
Frames your face beautifully.
Did you also pick up a Texas accent?
😉
-
You do?
Well, maybe I'll just keep it then.
-
:)
-
John, it must be warm where you are if the irises are blooming.
Are you in Texas?
-
If so, where's YOUR hat?
😄😄
-
I wish I was good at accents. We were in the wonderful little town of Fredericksburg, TX before heading to San Antonio where we spent a delightful evening with DR John.
-
DR John did not where a hat. I wear a hat almost every day.
-
So do I, Jane.
Can't handle the sun.
-
Have decided to deactivate my Facebook account due to a series of unfortunate events.
-
Y'all are such a gentle, kind and positive community.
( Texas accent -😀 )
-
I am sorry about facebook.
-
Keith is going to pop corn and we are going to watch something. It is wonderful having you back Dear Lurker Iris.
-
If anyone can show me how to retrieve my original name, I would appreciate it.
Thanks!
There should be a "Forgot your password" link where you log in. This is from the HHW help section:
http://wiki.simplemachines.org/smf/Logging_In
-
And now, I'm leaving work and going home.
Be back later.
-
So far, I do not miss Facebook.
Am also avoiding all cable news shows, which took up way too much time and energy.
Back to movies and old episodes of Seinfeld!
-
Good night, everyone.
Sweet dreams.
-
John, it must be warm where you are if the irises are blooming.
Are you in Texas?
I am in Texas. San Antonio. And it's been a warm winter but the next couple of days will be cold.
-
If so, where's YOUR hat?
😄😄
I wear a hat in the summer, especially in the sun.

Joan Crawford is suffering nobly in Sudden Fear, while Jack Palance and Gloria Graham try to kill her. Fun stuff.

Five!

More job offers! Congrats, DR Elmore!

Nice photo DR John.
-
Well, this is interesting...Kritzerland's release of "Thelma & Louise" soundtrack is being rereleased (http://www4.screenarchives.com/title_detail.cfm/ID/32872/THELMA-&-LOUISE-REISSUE-1000-EDITION/):
One of our favorites from Hans Zimmer, this reissue of the 2001 limited edition release from Kritzerland is back in print for those that might have missed out on it last time.
-
I should be in bed, but I started on 45 Years and couldn't stop watching it.
Charlotte Rampling gives an amazing performance, one of the finest pieces of acting I've seen in a long time. (I know, I love her in just about anything.) Tom Courtenay is also good, though it's a less sympathetic role. I had loved the director's movie Weekend, about two men who fall in love over the course of a weekend, and what keeps them apart. This one is about a couple that's been married for 45 years and what could drive them apart.
-
So, I'm off to bed now.
-
Thank you, John G., for the birthday wishes.
Like your photo and your hat during your visit to Crete.
Also like the look of that amazing salad.
Greens, greens, nothing but greens, AND cucumbers, tomatoes, onions or fennel, feta cheese and an.....artichoke? Or is that a roll? I'm perplexed,oh,yes, I am perplexed.
-
We watched ROB ROY tonight.
-
Good evening!
-
Happy Birthday, Iris!
-
George, congratulations on the continued weight loss.
-
New work vibes for elmore!
-
Welcome back Iris!
-
George, congratulations on the continued weight loss.
Thanks, Tom!
-
We watched ROB ROY tonight.
Did you have a Rob Roy will you watched it?
-
George, are you getting snow?
-
I need to switch computers.
-
I guess no one missed me.
-
Maybe George went out to play in the snow.
-
George, are you getting snow?
What a coinkydink! Literally as I was just reading this, the local news that my TV just happened to be on was talking about the snow! I didn't know about it, though. I just looked and it's raining here.
-
Maybe George went out to play in the snow.
Sadly, I did not.
-
We watched ROB ROY tonight.
Did you have a Rob Roy will you watched it?
Tempting but no.
-
DR TCB how are you feeling tonight?
