Glad to hear the show went well.
44 Sunsets is one of my favorites, in spite of the fact that it makes me cry.

Iris, those were bits of rusk in the salad (aka really, really hard, teeth-breaking bits of old bread that we never really ate; they were supposed to have absorbed juices from the tomato as well as the oil used but never did).

If I'm remembering correctly, The Roots of Heaven is one that gets knocked by a lot of people, but when I watched it for my first time a few years ago via Twilight Time's release of it on Blu-ray, I got into it and enjoyed it just fine.

What a weird day so far!

The young man who took my bloodwork is most peculiar.  It took him several tries to tap a vein, all the while he was bitching about problems at the HMO.  Then I went to the pharmacy and I had to copay for all my meds.  This is new, so I need to call my HMO and inquire.

Also, I've never seen the Barefoot Contessa, about which BK receiver wrote. The library doesn't have a copy, but it does have Camerman, a documentary about the cinematographer of said picture and more.

I gather it isn't normal to find it difficult to tap your veins, and normal or not it had nothing to do with his complaints you did not need to hear.  I hope you can avoid him in the future.

Friday afternoon greetings!  This morning I had my one month post-op appointment with the eye doctor.  My distance vision is 20/30, which he says would allow me to pass the driver's test.  But, because I'd like things in the distance to be sharper, he wrote a prescription that we're going to try first in my sunglasses.  Eventually, I may get a clear pair if I want them for night driving.

I've been E & T this afternoon while the drops wore off.

That was in our early 20's when we couldn't afford glasses and hadn't gone for a check.  My father sent us to his good friend who did not charge us for the exam and reduced the bill on the glasses.

DR Ginny, will you be getting progressive lenses for you new sunglasses?

I need prescription sunglasses. I know a progressive would be best, but I'm put off by the high cost. I'm thinking about a single-vision lens with only distance vision. I wouldn't be able to read small print, but I could probably drive just fine. Decisions, decisions.

Yes, DR Jeanne, I'm getting progressive lenses so that I can read maps and such.  On our recent road trip to Atlanta with Richard driving and me navigating, it was a real pain to switch from my sunglasses to my readers.  They're expensive, but my insurance helps a bit.

Hello HHW friends.  I rarely comment here, but try to read this when I can.
Great show last night  ;) .  I am biased  :D
However, friends of mine who came to see the show yesterday, first time Kritzerlanders, remarked how terrific it was to hear lesser known material performed.  They also said the kids did a bang up job on some very challenging material.  Hopefully some of those performances will be uploaded as BK often does.

Have a great weekend everyone.

That's right, there's an edition of The Duke's Children's that's been restored. I think something like 400 or 500 pages was cut from the original text and all of it has been put back in place, so it's like a new novel.

That's right, there's an edition of The Duke's Children's that's been restored. I think something like 400 or 500 pages was cut from the original text and all of it has been put back in place, so it's like a new novel.

Interesting.  Did you read the original text?

I hope it works. (Skrow spelled backwards.)

Good luck.  If it helps let us know.  I might try it.

I did. A few years back, I raced through all 45 of Trollope's novels and short story collections.

Tom, it turns out that it did snow here last night, just not very much.  There was a little snow still on the ground when I drove to work this morning.

I didn't walk in the rain today.  I went to the clubhouse and walked back from there.  I got lucky that the rain had eased up a bit and the wind was not blowing too hard.
