Well, you've read the notes, the notes witnessed, and now it is time for you to post until the witnessed cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: PARSE!
-
TCB, Google I-5 crash Portland and it shows up on KOIN 6 news.
-
I am going good to try and go back to sleep.
-
good morning to all
-
Good morning, all.
-
Woke way too early for a Saturday, and that last dream is but a vague undefined image.
Coffee!
-
Good morning! It is very cold here today.....well 26 degrees with an expected low tonight of 12 degrees......
-
Yes, I think if the Wilder improvements were part of the play WFTP, it would be produced more.....same thing with DESK SET which was tailored for Tracy & Hepburn and much improved over the stage version.
-
TOD:
Laughton: Advise & Consent, Witness....., Spartacus, The Big Clock, Sign of the Cross
Dietrich: Witness....., Destry Rides Again, Desire
Power: Witness....(Yes, it's one of my favorite films), Son of Fury, Nightmare Alley, The Razor's Edge, Blood and Sand, The Rains Came
-
Good morning.
-
Good morning, all!
-
I slept in, and since it's going to be a really cold day, I'm staying in. I have some tidying up as well as a bit of work.
-
I'm on a kick for American horror stories from the mid-20th century. I've got some Robert Bloch, Richard Matheson, Charles Beaumont, and Robert E. Howard to give me sleepless night. Robert Howard's "Pigeons from Hell" really creeps me out.
-
I've also got the latest Carl Hiaasen novel to begin. I think he's my favorite living novelist and humorist.
-
TOD:
Dietrich: WITNESS, JUDGMENT AT NUREMBERG, DESTRY RIDES AGAIN, THE SPOILERS
Laughton: WITNESS, SPARTACUS, ADVISE AND CONSENT, MUTINY ON THE BOUNTY, ABBOTT & COSTELLO MEET CAPTAIN KIDD
Power: WITNESS, THE MARK OF ZORRO, ROSE OF WASHINGTON SQUARE, IN OLD CHICAGO, ALEXANDER'S RAGTIME BAND, THE BLACK SWAN, JESSE JAMES, RAWHIDE

Awaiting delivery this morning of a new recliner from Lay-Z-Boy.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Slept late. Feels good.
-
I'm up, I'm up - the damn buzz saw started up at eight this morning - nasty e-mail about to be written to the neighbor so I at least know how long I have to look forward to this.
-
La Cage keyboard book just delivered.
For a change, this one looks like it won't be a programming nightmare. Lots of accordion, harp, piano, much of it in long passages, and some splits and layers that will be a piece of cake to set up. Just what the doctor called for this particular month.
-
Great stuff, DR Elmore.
Do you have the Thriller episode of "Pigeons from Hell"?
-
Saturday morning greetings! Another c-c-c-cold day here in SW Ohio. I have to bake shortbread Valentine cookies for a ladies' meeting that will take place Monday.
-
Freezing here, too, but NO SNOW!!! (knocking wood)
-
Oh dear.

-
Yeah, heard about that last night.
I can understand it, for all the infuriating immature, trolling, obscene, etc., posts that have been so rampant there. But it's also a shame to lose the productive discussions that miraculously occurred in many of the threads.
On the other hand, they had unceremoniously dumped much of that anyway. I forget what the movie was, but I remember several years ago some people being very reasonably upset about the clearing out of old posts because some knowledgeable and helpful people, some of them industry insiders, had built up such a store of irreplaceable information -- which IMDb didn't care a whit about, as anything beyond a certain date was being nuked. So, a double edged sword.
-
Going out with friends in a bit to see RINGS (my second movie in one week!) -- which I'd like to like, but I'm betting it's going to be an all too predictable noisy jump-scare-y CGI-fest. But, whatever. Even if that's the case, I can reasonably enjoy it one time.
-
Forgot to say how nice it was to see a post from DR lechienfou yesterday.
-
Oh dear.

That's too bad! I usually found some interesting information in those boards among the occasional bad stuff.
-
Thanks for posting that, Jrand. I had missed the announcement.
-
Is it page 2?
-
Great stuff, DR Elmore.
Do you have the Thriller episode of "Pigeons from Hell"?
Oh, yes. It scared me to death in 1960, or whenever it was first broadcast, and it still does. There was a series on NBC around the same time as THRILLER called "Great Ghost Stories," which I wish would turned up on DVD. Its adaptation of Blackwood's "The Wendigo" terrfied me, and the memory of that broadcast still creeps me out.
-
I finished scoring the verse to "Let's Fly Away," and I'm on to the second refrain/ As I worked I listened to the June 11, 1960 BBC broadcast of the premiere of Britten's opera A Midsummer Night's Dream. It was quite wonderful, and now I'm listening to Juan Diego Florez and Pavarotti sing Italian popular songs.
-
Yes, I ignored a lot of the messages on IMDB....but there were some that were interesting and informative. Now we have none.....at least as of 2/20.
-
I rarely read the comments, however, when I have on the whole they have been useful.
-
Charles Laughton:
The Hunchback of Notre Dame
Mutiny on the Bounty
He was great in everything he did.
Tyrone Power:
The Mark of Zorro
Alexander's Ragtime Band
I am now in the mood to watch some of his films.
Marlene Dietrich:
I am not a fan.
-
Oh dear.

So did I. Frequently, the messages had specific information that I was looking for. Darn. :-\

Well, today is going to be a day. I have to shower and shave and get dressed, then I need to mail a rent check for Theater Artists Olympia, then possibly (finally) get my hairs cut. I was planning on getting a hair cut back in October, but I was cast in "The Physician In Spite of Himself" and was specifically told not to get my hair cut.
-
Then, I was going to get it cut when the show ended in December, but they decided to add one performance in January, so I wouldn't be able to get it cut until after that. Then, when that performance happened, I got the cold that lingered and when I went to my barber, there was a sign that said if you're even barely sick, don't even think about coming in.
-
A couple of years ago, he had cancer and went through treatment and needed to be kept away from sick people. I assume that he's going through another treatment, so I didn't want to chance that. Now, I feel recovered enough to go and let him cut my hair...assuming that his shop is open, but it usually is on Saturdays. We'll see.
-
Anyway, the big event tonight is that I'm ushering for a performance by Rufus Wainwright (http://www.washingtoncenter.org/event/pizza-klatch-2017/) as a fund raiser for Pizza Klatch (http://www.pizzaklatch.org/):
Pizza Klatch provides weekly lunchtime support groups in our local schools for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer youth (LGBTQ) and allies to prevent teen suicide, reduce bullying and keep youth in school. We started with 2 schools and 20 students and now serve approximately 300 youth weekly at 12 Thurston County high schools. Given the increase in bullying nationwide, Pizza Klatch is needed now more than ever.
-
I've taken my shower, and now I must get dressed so that I can leave my house and do the things that I need to do.
Have a good day, all!
-
I'm going to the movies tonight. Toss up between Hidden Figures, which is showing earlier, and Moonlight, which doesn't start until after 9 p.m.
-
Back from RINGS.
Eh.
But we had a good time. And now I'll never have to sit through it again. :)
-
Freezing out there.
Time to get myself outside of a cold Manhattan.
-
Well, darn. When I drove by the barber's, I could see that it was closed. I'll have to wait to get my hairs cut...again.
;)
-
So, I'm getting me something to eat and continuing reading my book, "Princeps' Fury," book 5 in Jim Butcher's CODEX ALERA series.
-
Yes, I ignored a lot of the messages on IMDB....but there were some that were interesting and informative. Now we have none.....at least as of 2/20.
No question about it. I used it quite a bit, and I'll miss it for the good stuff.
-
Well, darn. When I drove by the barber's, I could see that it was closed. I'll have to wait to get my hairs cut...again.
;)
I was scrolling with great anticipation to see if you got your hair cut.
-
Yes I was anticipating a photo of DR GEORGE's hirsute transformation.....
DR GEORGE have you ever tried SportClips? I think they are a national chain. A couple of my brothers go there. They like it better than Great Clips....you can check in on line, etc.
-
I started going to this guy (he's the only barber in his shop) because he was local and was located close to where I live and work. I'll go again sometime this week during my lunch time.
-
Re the imdb - thank all the brain dead teens.
-
I had an omelet and an English muffin.
-
Had a lovely conversation with Muse Margaret - there were really only four little things to ask her about and we decided on those.
-
Then I had a surprise visit from Sandy Bainum and we had a lovely chat.
-
Then I listened to some music and I uploaded a LOT of videos, so there WILL be videos in the notes, but not if we don't get off this damn page.
-
Well, it's time for me to leave for the theater. I don't know when I'll be back, but it should be tonight.
Until later!
-
Dear George - take a day off already :)
-
I'm one to talk.
-
I was about to say that.
-
Page 3?
-
Page three? Really?
-
Guess those 0 guests aren't doing their part with posting.
-
Where is everybody today?
-
It's foggy and cool outside, not cold and there's no wind, but it's just not pleasant out of doors.
-
I went to see Hidden Figures.
-
Loved it.
-
Surprised at the Oscar nominations. Sort of. Octavia Spenser is beloved, but Janelle Monae is fierce and strong and wonderful from word one. And Taraji Hensen is a marvel.
-
The sold-out house applauded at the end.
-
Great soundtrack, both the music composed for the film and the period songs used.
-
Hello, 0 guests.
-
I guess in honor of the TOD, which I haven't answered yet, I'm watching The Canterville Ghost with Charles Laughton.
-
Directed by Jules Dassin, whose work I'm beginning to discover. Rififi was spectular, Naked City had a great finale, Night and the City is wonderful. Topkapi is just plain fun.
-
Fun story about Hidden Figures. About 30 years or so ago, I interviewed a young actor named Olek Krupa who had just emigrated from the Soviet Union. He didn't speak English very clearly, but he was starring in a production of Dracula. You couldn't understand him from the stage, but it didn't much matter. He projected an almost animal sexuality that you understand why Lucy and Mina and most of the audience were hypnotized by him.
He's much older in Hidden Figures, where he plays an engineer who encourages Janelle Monae's character, but at least I could understand his English.
-
TOD:
Laughton:
Hobson's Choice
Witness for the Prosecution
Ruggles of Red Gap
As a director: Night of the Hunter
-
TOD 2:
Dietrich:
Touch of Evil
Witness for the Prosecution
Stage Fright
Destry Rides Again
The Blue Angel
Morocco
-
TOD 3:
Tyrone Power:
Witness for the Prosecution
Rose of Washington Square
Alexander's Ragtime Band
-
I'm listening to a reading of Virgil's Aeneid, which I first read back on college. Sadly, the reader is way too foppish, so every time there's a reference to "savage beasts" or "brutes," it comes off as funny instead of serious.
-
That's it for me tonight.
-
Good night, all.
-

I agree.

This is a very interesting story.
-
We watched the movie, vs the recent miniseries, of YOUNG VICTORIA.
-
I have a book to finish reading.
-
Good evening!
-
Page three? Really?
-
This is not good.
-
Where is everybody tonight?
-
You would think this was a Saturday night.
-
One more post.
-
Page four
-
Page four? Really?
-
This is only slightly better than the previous page.
-
Do any New Yorkers know anything about HERE LIES LOVE, the Imelda Marcos musical?
-
It is opening at the Seattle Rep this month.
-
Hello, 1 Guest!
-
What is your favorite musical?
-
Nicky and I spent most of our day napping.
-
First Nick me sleep until 8:00 a.m.
-
I checked all my e-mail.
-
Which by the way was crap.
-
So, Nick had already gone back to bed, so I went with him.
-
The next thing I knew it was noon.
-
So then I watched reruns of THE FLASH and SUPERGIRL.
-
By then, it was time to watch the news.
-
Sleep is what you needed. Are you feeling better?
-
Tomorrow night we may get a little snow.
-
I am suppose to be at the eye doctor Monday morning at 8.
-
With my luck, we will actually get some snow this time.
-
If we have some, I won't be going.
-
I am not about to break my neck trying to get my wheelchair in the trunk of the car.
-
It is bad enough having an early appointment but worse when you have to worry about getting there.
-
Still, I would be shocked if we got snow.
-
The few times we have had snow this winter, it has passed me by completely.
-
Sleep is what you needed. Are you feeling better?
A little bit.
-
That is the good thing about watching THE FLASH reruns, I can fall asleep and I don't miss anything, because I have seen them all before.
-
It doesn't seem very cold tonight.
-
Of course, I am not outside.
-
At least there is no wind tonight.
-
Just one more post.
-
Page five
-
Whoops! I have lost Jane.
-
And I have lost our Guest.
-
Finished with my viewing and went and got some mac-and-cheese at Du-Par's - it was excellent so clearly only the night chef understands how to prepare it.
-
Lots of videos coming in the notes, but not if we don't get off this damn page.
-
Page five? Really?
-
I don't imagine anybody else here will be watching the Super Bowl tomorrow.
-
I will have it on, but I doubt I will stay awake for the whole game.
-
I will be cheering for the Atlanta Falcons.
-
The other team is the New England Patriots.
-
In case anyone was wondering.
-
The weather forecast is looking less likely for snow on Monday morning.
-
Any snow will probably be north of Seattle.
-
Oh well, maybe it will surprise me.
-
0 to 3 inches of snow.
-
Guess which end of that we will get.
-
I don't think we will be getting off of this page tonight.
-
All of the weather forecasts are saying different things for Monday morning.
-
I guess I will just have to get up at six on Monday and see for myself.
