Well, you've read the notes, the notes had no bowling, and now it is time for you to post until the bowling cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: ATARAXIA!
-
First post after BK!
-
Some more great videos. That young man is quite a talent.
-
Hello, 1 Guest!
-
I really enjoyed all of the new videos...great singers singing great songs!
-
Good night, George. I hope they figure out if you have to work tomorrow.
-
First in the real morning! :)
-
Great to hear that TCB is on the mend!
-
Good morning, all.
-
Good morning, all!
-
I had a very bad night of sleep and missed therapy this morning. I do remember one very strange dream: Kim Criswell, Joanna Gleason and I at Steve Sondheim's, then Kim and i were at 8th Avenue, around 48th Street. It was all something to do about a production and a search for shipping info on a set for a sondheim show.
-
I need to pick up and put away a lot of books and papers. Then, Guys and Dolls work.
-
DR TCB, how are you doing?
-
Favorite Super Bowl comment so far: "I'm so excited that Lady Gaga won the Super Bowl!"
-
Good morning, all.
-
My dream included having to transfer ice cubes by hand from one gigantic bag to another, to get rid of the water from partial melting and put it away in a deep chest freezer, making sure not to set it in the same compartment with the large fish.
I think I shall strive to stay awake the rest of the day.
-
I have a quick bit of grocery shopping to do, and pretty much the rest of the day is going to be spent at keyboard programming. I want to knock this La Cage out quickly.
-
Monday morning greetings! Eric and Jay arrived before 9am and are demolishing all but the sink and vanity in our downstairs bathroom.
-
DR JohnG wrote:
It was good. Did you enjoy it, Jennifer? Or were you rooting for Hotlanta?
I was sort of rooting for the Patriots although it didn't make a huge difference to me. But 6 people at the Super Bowl party were huge Patriots fans. So by the end I was cheering for them too. Also if they scored a touchdown in OT it meant that I would win the 4th quarter money. By the end we were all screaming like crazy people.

TOD:
I tend to think anyone who sells their product via infomercials, like Tony Robbins, is mostly in it for the money. But I've never seen any of his courses, so I probably shouldn't judge.
My favorite motivational speaker is Chris Farley from Saturday Night Live. Classic! :)
-
It is spring here.....51 degrees!
I enjoyed the videos in the notes muchly. I particularly enjoyed Mandy Wolf.....that is one of my favorite Sherman Bros. scores.......
-
Since shopping was postponed today, I shall go tomorrow....when we will be enjoying MORE spring like weather.
-
I don't listen to any inspirational speakers.....as DR AMY wrote....they seem to be in it for the $$$$. But I do know that some people are helped by them. If you boil down their messages to the core, it is usually just common sense or giving people permission to do what they want to with their lives.....
-

We're supposedly getting up to 55 on Wednesday, followed by a drop to below freezing and snow that night and the next morning.

HA! My Federal Income Tax Refund has been deposited in my checking account - my State Income Tax Refund is due to be deposited tomorrow....we shall see if that happens.
-
Can't top Amy's comment on Chris Farley and motivational speakers. Not even gonna try.
-
HA! My Federal Income Tax Refund has been deposited in my checking account - my State Income Tax Refund is due to be deposited tomorrow....we shall see if that happens.
Don't spend it all in one place.
-
I'm up, I'm up - noon o'clock lunch is now not happening - maybe it will happen at two - I won't know that until one.
-
Again I woke up after two hours of sleep - happily fell back asleep about forty minutes later and since it's slightly raining out no builders today.
-
Listening to Billy Goldenberg's score for Busting. Nice soundtrack from Kritzerland.
-
Two!

Last week I had the honor of reading BK's latest manuscript. I don't know how he produces these novels so quickly yet with so much going on in them.
-
It is on one level another valentine to LA, the city that he loves despite its efforts to lose what's most valuable as the march of time progresses.
-
I read it while playing Sibelius, which just seems to underscore the wonder of the tale. (No hints from me about the title.)
-
I am using it to pay my semi annual car insurance.....Federal is $6.......State is a whopping $57....so that will pay about 1/4 of the bill.
-
I don't like the fact, though, that I don't have a physical copy of it yet. And don't give me any malarkey (I love that word) about it not having been printed yet. Facts don't matter anymore.
I'm filing a complaint with PayPal.
-
In the meantime, I'll have to go back to February House, the tale of the building where W.H. Auden, Benjamin Britten, Carson McCullers and Gypsy Rose Lee all lived at the same time. Odd roommates.
-
Good night, George. I hope they figure out if you have to work tomorrow.
I just got to work. They did send out a text at about 6:30 am saying that all the libraries would open at 11:00. Other people are just now arriving, so they got the text, also.
-
HA! My Federal Income Tax Refund has been deposited in my checking account - my State Income Tax Refund is due to be deposited tomorrow....we shall see if that happens.
Wow! That was quick. I need to file mine soonly, too. I want to pay down my credit card more than anything else. ::)
;)

I read that when it first was published.

DR George went to work which leaves only one mystery to be answered, if DR TCB went to the eye doctor.
-
Just had a wonderful call from Richard Sherman, who gave me his blurb for the new book, which he loved.
-
Lunch is back on, but at 1:40, so I've got to get ready.

Yep. i knew a lot about it because of Britten and Pears, but I learned a lot, like George Davis helping Gysy Rose Lee write "The G-String Murders." I was surprised that there was no mention of Gypsy's lesbian streak.

Perhaps her literary streak was too much of a surprise for most folks.

You know, the Holy Bible admonishes we humans against using the word "fool" in reference to another being.
I've come to believe that Pat Robertson's purpose in life is to severely test us against that admonishment.

Rainy day, rainy day, rainy day.

I spent my Sunday cleaning out two closets in my bedroom.
Piles and piles of shirts and trousers, several pairs of shoes and a couple of jackets were placed into plastic bags. Will be donating to St. Vincent de Paul.
There is ever so much room in my closets now!!! What to buy? What to buy? [NOT!]

Recorded and then watched twice TCM's airing of "The Boy Friend" on 31 Days of Oscar on Saturday morning.
It looked and sounded wonderful, but it was not a high-def version of the film.
Am SO LOOKING FORWARD to the Blu ray coming out on Feb. 21.
-
Saturday night I cooked my first brisket.
I browned it, seasoned it and poured a bottle of Guinness Stout Ale (dark) over it. Covered it and cooked it on low for a couple of hours (well, maybe three hours).
This brisket is a bit of heaven on earth. I did a reduction using dry sherry (had no wine) and the sauce it made is also a bit of heaven.

Yesterday's Super Bowl was astonishing. That means a-s-t-o-n-i-s-h-i-n-g when said very slowly.
I was happy with however it was going to turn out. I'm a longtime Patriots fan, but I'm from the south and the Falcons are a team I can get behind.
Who knew that Tom Brady would set the Patriots up for 31 UNANSWERED points in the second half....from trailing 28-3 to winning 34-28. When they finally scored their first touchdown, and the score was 28-10, I thought that would be it for the Pats. But...ummm...not quite.
An amazing, exciting come-from-behind that flabbergasted me as I watched it unfold. By the time they were tossing the coin for OT, I knew it would be the Patriots' ball and that they would score a TD. It was a bit of fate.

Did I mention the rain? It has been non-stop shower/drizzle for the past four hours. A great soaking rain.
-
Last night, when I went to bed, I slept from 11 p.m. until 2:40 a.m. No matter how much I tried, I could not go back to sleep.
I got up and took a couple of Tylenol. I went into the living room, sat in my chair, turned on my Duraflame heater and turned off the lights.
When I woke up, it was dark. I asked "Alexa" what time it was and she said it was 6:37 a.m. More than three hours of sleep sitting up in my chair. And it was "late" for me since I'm normally out of the condo by 6:15 a.m.
Oh, well.
-
This week is going to be rather busy for me, but I'm managing to stay on top of things as they come along.
Am hoping nothing hits the fan, but there are things "looming".
-
Meanwhile, I've learned that all sorts of terrorist attacks are happening all across the USA but that the media is not reporting them. I've learned that federal judges, despite their titles, are "so-called judges". I've learned that Vladimir Putin really isn't a bad guy...and that the way he treats his political enemies is on a par with how we, here in the USA, do business.
I've learned all that, but I'm not buying it.
-
Going forward...

I think they are showing TBF in HD at Comcast ON DEMAND....at least it seemed to be so when I watched it yesterday.
-
We just got an all-staff e-mail saying that all libraries and the Service Center will close tonight at 5pm. Also, all libraries will not open tomorrow until noon, so we'll have a couple of short work days.
-
In the mail, I just received four, count 'em, FOUR CDs that I had ordered!
La La Land Original Soundtrack (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MPXX9GE/) (the mostly songs CD...it has a few of the instrumentals that are also on the score CD)
La La Land Original Score (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N66KW2B/) (the instrumentals)
'...and then I wrote The Music Man' (http://www.stagedoorrecords.com/stage2380.html)
Anthony Newley Sings 'The Good Old Bad Old Days' (http://www.stagedoorrecords.com/stage9038.html)

Thanks to JohnG for the nice words about the new book. I'm quite excited for people to read it. I'm not sure if I'll post the Sherman blurb just yet, although it contains no spoilers, but does reference the title, albeit not as the title :)
-
I recently obtained the first two. Have had the Willson LP for a number of years (thank you eBay).
-
Had a nice lunch with my book dealer friend and his lovely wife. I had the kids' mac-and-cheese, a side of bacon, and a bagel. The mac-and-cheese was even smaller than usual - couldn't have even been two ounces of pasta.

I did not know this. It seems few people follow this practice of not calling another being a fool.
As for Robertson.... ;D

Not when you are downsizing for the big move.

Good evening !
-
Our temperature is going up and down this week. It's going to be 68 tomorrow, 38 Friday and back to 66 on Sunday.
-
I enjoyed the "Bowl" yesterday---the Puppy Bowl, that is.

Sounds like your book is another winner, BK!

Be back later.

There is always doubt, believe me :)

Last night we watched a heartwarming movie, A Street Cat Named Bob. It is a true story based on the memoir, AND it stars Bob.
-
Just watched the first two episodes. 18 to go!
I'm hooked.
-
Page three? Really?
-
Apparently ;)
-
I can talk about our exciting walk today.
-
I don't have much to say about motivational speakers.
-
Let's hear about that damn walk and let's hear about it motivationally.
-
We headed out for our walk and within minutes the wind picked up making us colder than expected. Then it began to lightly rain. I came back inside, changed out Keith's hat for an umbrella & scarf and grabbed a another layer. Of course the rain then stopped and the sun came out again and I was too warm ;D

Leslie Odom Jr's father in-law is a motivational speaker and has written a book.
"It All Begins with "I": The New Rules of Thinking and the Simple Secrets to Living a Rich, Joyous and Fulfilled Life"
by Stuart K. Robinson

Bruce, you do you recall that Stuart is married to Ronnie, Larry, and Ricky's little sister?

It's all PayPal's fault.
And reality's.

Watching Hairspray Live!
Loving Harvey best. And the choreography.
But I find this is a show I like better as an album.
-
Thank you for the videos BK
-
Very well done
-
Hello, everyone.
-
I was awakened at 5 am by the sound of the rain. I would have preferred another two hours sleep.
-
I saw a new ophthalmologist today about the problem I've been having with my right eye. She's young and is happy to answer questions, which is a good thing because I always have lots of them. I doubt that it took more than five or ten minutes to have our little discussion, but I learned a lot. One of my complaints about UCLA Health is the lack of patient education. She didn't disagree. She's also referred me to a retinal specialist.
-
Vixmom, I wish for your sake you were still in Florida, enjoying weeks and weeks of vacation.

Good for you, Ron! I cleaned out my linen closet the other day. It's the repository for sooo many things! I was really pleased about doing it.
I'd be happy to take that extra closet space off your hands. My closets are totally jammed. And very little I want to let go of. I'm chipping away at it.
-
Bruce, you need to see THE DRESSMAKER. I'd be surprised if you don't like it. It's a revenge film, but not like any others I've seen. Beautifully done.
-
I've been watching Tommy and Tuppence on Acorn TV. I saw the original with Francesa Annis many years ago and didn't think I'd be interested in the remake. It's good, though. I don't care for Jessica Raine as Tuppence, but only because I know her from CALL THE MIDWIFE. David Walliams is very good as Tommy, good-natured but a bit dense.
-
TCB, how are you feeling? Up and around much?
-
Good night.

Thanks. I was wondering how it was. I had lived those books when I was a kid, even more thanMiss Marple.
-
I need to head off to bed.

Vibes for all in need.
-
Good night, all.
-
Page four? Really?
-
Finished with my viewing.
-
Listening to some Villa Lobos - started at the beginning of what's in iTunes and just playing.

I bought a new toilet seat tonight. :)
-
Just had to share.

And since we're so close...

Is that too much to ask?
I don't think so considering all the extra hours you have put in over the years.

You are welcome DR John 😊
-
DR Jeanne I am very pleased you like your new opthamalogist. Good vibes with the specialist!

It took a bit of getting use to, especially the changes with Tommy's character. They both are more fun in the books and in the original series.

I bought a new toilet seat tonight. :)
A working toilet seat is very important.
-
Two books came in from the library tonight and I already have 2 checked out. I had better get back to reading.
-
A Working Toilet Seat is Very Important - that's the title of my next self-help book.
-
I knew it would be ;)
-
Good evening!
-
My snow is now gone.
-
I have an eye appointment at 10:25 tomorrow.
-
It wasn't terrible this morning, but I just didn't want to risk driving this morning.
-
In fact, I couldn't sleep last night worrying about the drive.
-
The snow did get worse right up the hill from me.
-
So, I think I made the right decision.
-
And considering how long I was on hold, I wasn't the only one calling in this morning.
-
I have an eye appointment at 10:25 tomorrow.
A more reasonable time.
-
Lovely toilet seat, George.
-

One of the reasons I hoped you could leave a message last night.

So, I think I made the right decision.
You did.

I have an eye appointment at 10:25 tomorrow.
A more reasonable time.
I think so, too.
-
George, I will be curious if that toilet seat works as advertised.
-
I am talking to George and he isn't even here.
-
Oh well, I talk to myself all the time.
-
And now that I am feeling better, now I get an abcess tooth.
-
And my dentist is now semi-retired.

I bought a new toilet seat tonight. :)
A working toilet seat is very important.
Yes! What was wrong with the original seat that I had (I bought it new when I moved in here in 2006) was that I had the same model, but chrome plating instead of this brushed nickel. A few years ago, the chrome started flaking off and every time I sat down, I would feel the bits of chrome flakes on my backside.
-
It never really scratched me, ::) just annoyed me. I finally got tired of that feeling and just had to get a new one. Otherwise, the old seat was perfectly functional.
-
Lovely toilet seat, George.
Thanks, Tom!
-
George, I will be curious if that toilet seat works as advertised.
It has been tested and I approve of this purchase!
:))

I am talking to George and he isn't even here.
I'm back...I was balancing my checkbook. It's all good and balanced, now.

I know my dentist is only working one day a week, but I have no idea what day.
-
Notes are written - and I'm waffling back and forth about revealing the title and cover, but am leaning towards waiting another three or four days.

Not Nick - Grant has to design the interior of the book, which doesn't happen until next week or so.
-
DR TCB did you leave a message for your dentist? Vibes you get in quickly to see him, or another dentist!
-
Sorry, Grant. What does that entail?
