Well, you've read the notes, the notes were all of the above, and now it is time for you to post until the all of the above cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: WELKIN!
-
And now - Dino at the piano.
-
First post after BK!
-
I want a big bowl of mashed potatoes and gravy.
-
That sounds soft enough for me to eat.
-
Maybe a hot turkey sandwich would ge good.
-
I am not planning a late night snack, but rather tomorrow's lunch / dinner.
-
Howdy, 1 Guest!
-
I'm still here - good times and bum times.
-
Where in tarnation IS everyone?
-
Where in tarnation IS everyone?
That was my question.
-
T.O.D.
That is a tough question. I have a lot of go-to albums, depending on the circumstances.
-
What is it, fish?
That was my other question.
-
Good bye, 1 Guest!
-
Cheesecake sound good, too.
-
I want a big bowl of mashed potatoes and gravy.
Mmm...that sounds really good!
-
Cheesecake sound good, too.
Yes, it does!
-
I have frozen mashed potatoes in my freezer from Schwan's, but no gravy or cheesecake. I may have to rectify that...not right now, of course.
;)
-
It's raining here in Tumwater.
-
It sounds very peaceful.
-
I can't hear the rain tonight.

So, George, what is the secret to your weight loss?
-
So, George, what is the secret to your weight loss?
Literally eating half of what I used to eat.

So, George, what is the secret to your weight loss?
Literally eating half of what I used to eat.
Really? That's it?
-
Aren't you hungry?
-
This being sick, followed by this tooth problem, has made me lose weight.
-
At least, my pants keep falling down.
-
Aren't you hungry?
Not so much. I pretty much ate too much anyway, so when I started eating "normal" amounts, it really is enough...for the most part.

But you still eat whatever you want to eat?
Not exactly. Last year I started losing weight without trying, and then my hip started hurting and no over-the-counter pain releaver really helped, so I went to the doctor for the pain, and told them about the weight loss. My mom had been at me to go to the doctor because of my weight, and because family members from both sides of my parents' families were diabetic, I decided it was time to deal with it. So, I finally was officially disgnosed. I've mainly have been reducing the carbs (although, I probably haven't been as diligent as I should), so that's really what has reduced my calorie intake. I'm on medication (not insulin), but I haven't done much exercising...yet.

Good night, George.

Thanks, Tom. Of course, I still won't go shirtless

Thanks, Tom. Of course, I don't think I'll go shirtless on a beach anytime soon. ::)

LOL! Me either.

Well, I'm off to bed.
Good night, Tom (again).

Night, George.
-
Good morning, all.

First in the REAL morning.

I am also one of the first fifteen pre-orders, I'll have you all know! :)
YAY!!!!!

This totally feels like a Saturday.
Everyone's here, snow day and all. I trust a few of you others are at home, too.
Such as, for starters.... vixmom, I hope?
-
Coffee!

How good is the Quartet label? I don't have any of their CDs, but I got Screen Archives' announcement of a clearance sale and ordered the Sherman Brothers' TOM SAWYER.
I actually could have sworn I had a CD of that, but I didn't, so I'm happy to have caught this.
-
Okay, I've had this jernt to myself for the past HOUR.
Where are the rest of the usual suspects? Outside making snow angels?
-
Good morning, all.
-
Good morning, all!
-
At 6:00 this morning, my therapist called me to say they were closed today. I went back to bed, and when the alarm rage thirty minutes later, I turned it off and slept late. The blizzard has landed here, and I hope that I am not leaving the apartment today.
-
Joshie has called me from his subway walk to tell me to stay inside.
-
I have Guys & Dolls work, so I will not be idle today.
-
Thursday morning greetings! Richard and I both got up early this morning when neither of has to be anywhere and when we're not expecting the bathroom work crew. The one morning this week we could have slept late...
-
Thanks, Tom. Of course, I still won't go shirtless on a beach in public anytime soon. ::)
;)
SCARED SHIRTLESS - isn't that a title of something?
-
It's snowy here, too! :)
-
It's early a.m. here in Oakland CA.
A major storm is approaching. Hasn't struck Oakland yet, but they're predicting about 3 inches of rain today.
Oh, joy!

DR Elmore, I've just read the 2 Backbeard books. They are delightful and I love the artwork!
-
I want a big bowl of mashed potatoes and gravy.
I love mashed potatoes and dislike gravy.
-
At least, my pants keep falling down.
When I lose weight from being sick make that suffering good for something and work to keep it off, or if I have lost too much weight I have fun putting it back on.
-

I hate how that happens. For me the morning I have to get up early is often the one I was finally sleeping.

Yea, the boss actually admitted while driving it that it was really too hazardous and told us to stay home. I have been on the phone and emailing all day with banks and the boss trying to keep things going along

Topic of the Day:
just about any recording by The Manhattan Transfer
just about any cast recording with a score by Stephen Sondheim
the original Broadway cast recording of Ain't Misbehavin' (there are other cast recordings, but this was one of the first Broadway cast albums that I ever chose on my own to listen to...mainly because of the cover art...so it holds a special place in my heart :D )
-
I forgot Mahler's Titan, Symphony No. 1 from my list.

Inconclusive biopsy results, so the doctor is sending them to another lab. No answer for two weeks.
-
Good news/bad news/frustrating news :-\

It is a good thing I put the call that came in on speaker phone so Keith could also hear it. I thought the person was a recorded message and almost hung up on her ;D Keith took the phone from me.

15 inches so far according to the localwearher guy

I think ours is stopping right now. Might even be stopped, but I've been fooled enough times that I don't really believe it yet.

DR Vixmom you can see your photos at http://s238.photobucket.com/user/HHWgroup/library/?view=recent&page=1
Then copy the IMG under the photo, paste here and click on post.

I think the towns around here have reported around 12 inches on average, but it does vary quite a bit.

They'd look "woodsy", if not gentlemanly, but you wouldn't really get how much snow there is. If I take some tomorrow when you'll kind of be able to see where the driveway is, they'll make more sense.
-
I'm glad this question came up. If it's midnight "out there" time, I'll have to set my alarm for 3:00 a.m.
-
Well, I can hardly believe I'm doing this, but I've just put the thermals [a.k.a. long johns] on under my clothes
(oh -- like someone was going to think I put them on outside of my clothes??)
and I'm going to start the snowblower and see what kind of start I can get on cleanup just behind the garage.
-
Last night I went to the dentist..my teeth were finally looking good... Perfect shape, size etc. but too light. I would have preferred getting my real teeth lightened enough to match the implants but apparently it's not in the cards... So back to the lab they go
-
Oh. And that dull ache in my right rear molar....ill be getting a root canal on Saturday
-
WOW! That's a LOT of snow!
-
I'd rather have a new toilet seat...
-
Good afternoon. I had my five-week oral surgery recheck today. So I went ahead and made an appointment for the other side. We have no dental insurance, either.

Snow and rain vibes, y'all.
We're having a sympathetic cooling streak. It's only 72 here today. Won't mention the sun. That wouldn't be fair.

I took a walk to the corner bodega. I took my cane for support, and i'm glad I did. it was just slippery enough to need the cane for extra traction.

I shall make sure you're one of the fifteen!
-
Picked up two little packages.
-
Then I made some Wacky Noodles and chicken for my meal o' the day. Yesterday I actually got really annoyed about eating out every meal - and usually at Jerry's, where every meal is, at the cheapest, twenty dollars with tip, and sometimes goes closer to twenty-five - I don't like that at all so I'm on strike until next Monday for sure. So I went to Gelson's and got the Wacky Noodles ingredients (already had three items here) and the ingredients for tuna pasta salad, which I'll make this evening and eat tomorrow and Saturday. I made only half the box of noodles for the Wacky Noodles, so I have the rest of that, too.
-
Total cost for four meals: $15.00

Listening to some Sibelious - today is a Chandos CD of symphonies three, six, and seven. I really like Mr. Gibson, especially his earlier Sibelius recordings, which are fantastic. And so far I'm really enjoying the PERFORMANCES, but the sound is the usually washy Chandos sound - it's a bit better than most of theirs, but I simply like to be closer to the orchestra. But Gibson is excellent and so is the band. Interestingly, all the symphonies in this cycle were put into a slipcase and released complete - and that slipcased set is OOP and going for a LOT of dough. So, I bought the three CDs by themselves - total cost for all three - 19.00 from third-party sellers. So you're paying all that extra money for a slipcase - because what's IN the slipcase are the three jewel-cased CDs that I bought. Go know.
-
I can't wait to announce - midnight my time. Stay up.

I just did something similar Tuesday night, I've been paying about $10 a day for lunch just to have a sandwich delivered , no drink...I bought a pound if ziti for 99 cents, a jar of sauce for 99 cents (don't judge me, you make such from scratch people) a pound of ground beef for $3.49 and a small container of ricotta for $1.78 and made 4 lunches...$1.81 a day and much better than a cold sandwich

Hello, everyone.
-
Stay warm and stay safe to all our DRs in inclement weather!
-
Oral surgery vibes to DR Laura.
-
DR George, I was expecting a dramatic difference between the two photos due to your haircut, but the HAIR is NOTHING compared to your weight loss! Congrats on it again and for getting yourself to the doctor. Even modest weight loss can bring big positive changes to your numbers (cholesterol, triglycerides, etc).

Great news, Larry!

Looking forward to BK's announcement, too!

What I will never understand about a place like Jerry's is when families of five go in there - that's a hundred dollar meal any way you look at it.

How frustrating. Continued biopsy vibes.

Dental vibes to Vixmom and TCB.

Thanks, Jeanne! I'm also on medication for cholesterol and blood pressure, so it's not just due to weight loss.

I can't wait to announce - midnight my time. Stay up.
I might, but I was up early this morning so that would be a stretch. The regular alarm and the cell phone are both set, for 2:50 and 2:55 a.m., respectively. Generator's got the power needs covered. The only unseemly thing that could happen would be the cable going out. I should wash my brain out with soap for even thinking such a thing. :)
-
Eating out can BREAK YOU!
-
The whole turnaround section of driveway behind the garage, and the sidewalk going around to the front door, have been cleared with the snowblower. That took an hour, and that's all I'm doing tonight. Hopefully, Mr. Plow Man <a.k.a. my very nice neighbor> will take a first pass at the driveway itself before long, or at least before the a.m. Then I can spend another hour or more tomorrow cleaning up the edges and whatnot. And there's a lot of damned whatnot here, let me tell you.
-
I can't wait to announce - midnight my time. Stay up.

Vixmom (ahem), I'm saving you a spot right behind me. You'll be number two. :D Now that ain't so shabby, is it?

-
Page 6?!
-
I can't wait to announce - midnight my time. Stay up.
If I wake up I will check for the announcement.
-
After a high of 73 yesterday, today it was in the thirties with lots of wind and even a little snow.
-
DR George, I was expecting a dramatic difference between the two photos due to your haircut, but the HAIR is NOTHING compared to your weight loss! Congrats on it again and for getting yourself to the doctor. Even modest weight loss can bring big positive changes to your numbers (cholesterol, triglycerides, etc).
And to hip pain.
-
What I will never understand about a place like Jerry's is when families of five go in there - that's a hundred dollar meal any way you look at it.
I still wonder why anyone eats there ;D

Thanks, Jeanne! I'm also on medication for cholesterol and blood pressure, so it's not just due to weight loss.
True, however, have you tried a low cholesterol diet?
-
My brother eats out almost every day but then he doesn't cook. Bruce you cook so I wonder why you eat out so much.

Not specifically, but I have been looking at those numbers as well as carb levels and just keeping a running total per day, when I can.
-
I'm now on to disc 2 of the epic War and Peace. The Russians and Holy Roman Empire just lost the battle of Austerlitz, 1805. I don't think the actor playing Napoleon looks enough like the real McCoy. Anthony Hopkins really is amazing, Alan Dobie reminds me a bit of Mel Ferrer, and I wish Audrey Hepburn were the Natasha, but Morag Hood is okay. So far, Natasha's been a background character. I really love the actress playing the slutty Princess Hélène. Her cleavage is astounding, and Hopkins is so funny watching it.
-
And now, I must be off. I'm working concessions for February's Comedy In The Box (http://www.washingtoncenter.org/event/comedy-in-the-box-2017-02-09/). I'm the only one who signed up for concessions (they wanted one more), so we'll see how rowdy the audience gets...and how well I can handle it. Fortunately, there'll be a separate bartender who deals with all alcohol, so that'll help. As I say, "It'll be what it'll be."
:D
-
Inconclusive biopsy results, so the doctor is sending them to another lab. No answer for two weeks.
How frustrating. Continued biopsy vibes.
Thank you.
-
I can't wait to announce - midnight my time. Stay up.
We'll forgive you if you want to do it now
Vixmom (ahem), I'm saving you a spot right behind me. You'll be number two. :D Now that ain't so shabby, is it?
If you just order 2 I can get a good nights sleep
;)
-
I'm playing receptionist at the dance studio. It's strange because I can't answer anyone's questions, but I can take phone numbers and pass them along. And I've had to use my Spanish, which I use less than I thought I would.

I know I eat too many foods I shouldn't.

I watched that version way back when. I may get the Bondarchuk version from the library in a week or two.

It is POURING out there. We are soooo pleased to have walked this afternoon when the sun was shining and it was 57 degrees out.
-
Good afternoon. I had my five-week oral surgery recheck today. So I went ahead and made an appointment for the other side. We have no dental insurance, either.
Oh, no!
~~~Teeth Vibes for Laura!!~~~
Oh dear I am so sorry to hear this Laura
Thanks, but it's fine. The recheck went well. It is healing nicely. I just made the appointment to get the other side done. We didn't do both at the same time, because he thought it would be nice for me to be able to eat while it was healing.
We've never had dental insurance.
-
I just wish Vixmom's teeth would turn out for once!!
That is an excellent reason to wait. It is good news you are healing nicely.
That version seems to exist in too many different ediitions, and not always in the bet of prints. I think the BBC version will be all the W&P I need. Much as I like Andrew Davies' adaptations of Jane Austen, I really do not care much for the look of the characters ib the photos of his last BBC adaptation of W&P
I just wish Vixmom's teeth would turn out for once!!
Thanks I am really pleased with how the last set looked , but somewhat sad that my teeth are so yellow in compArison..40+ years of tea and coffee took their toll
-
Is it midnight yet?
No....not even on the East Coast.
-
Plow Man came.
Once I've finished with the cleanup tomorrow, I'll try to put up a bit of photographic evidence.
-
I never felt good about how dark my teeth seemed to be, but I also never considered that any kind of whitening treatment could work for them. That, fortunately, turned out to be a little bit untrue and silly, because the procedure my dentist now uses got mine "a few shades" lighter, which was a thrill to hear. Would I like them lighter still? Of course. And maybe that can happen, maybe not. But like she said, we're also not in our twenties any more, and only so much of that tea and coffee and red wine can be undone.
Damn. We'll be on page fifty by the time the clock strikes three.
-
Scrooge will just be getting visited by one of the Christmas spirits.
-
Finished with my early viewing and listening to more Sibelius by Alexander Gibson - really love this guy's conducting and, as I said, though I wish the sound were more immediate, this is better than most Chandos recordings. And happily his great 5th that I already had is from 1959 is superb sound.
It's 11. Only one hour until the posting if the link
Unless you subscribe to to that silly "pacific time"stuff
11:08.
Time marches on!
-
I need to go to the new city of York tomorrow to conduct a closing because we had a shortage of available closers
-
That should really really fun
-
Maybe I should start now
-
Page seven? Really?
-
Amazing what an east coast blizzard can do to increase page count
-
We should be rewarded with a 12 EST announcement
-
;)
-
I keep hearing this in my head, as though issuing from some not quite dead character in a Creepshow type movie...
"Where's my BOOK?!?"
-
Let me see if the page is ready.
Eight?
-
Hang tight for five more minutes and we'll have the page live and you can order and tell me what you think of the cover and the Rupert blurb - all that will, of course, be in the notes, but you'll get a sneak peek in about five to ten minutes. I completely revised the flap copy an hour ago.
Page eight? Really?
I hope I can hold out for five more minutes.
I Revised My Flap Copy is the title of my new book.
Hurrah!! I may have a future as a lobbyist after all!!
And I have ordered my book ... Thank you Bruce. I am really looking forward to reading this now I have read the synopsis and blurbs
Listening to the Schubert Oktette while starting on the resume/interview research. I hate these questions:
Give me an example of a time that you were the first to identify a significant problem or issue that needed to be addressed.
Probe questions:
• What was the problem or issue, and how did it come to your attention?
• At what point did you alert others (peers/supervisor)?
• What would have been the impact of ignoring the original symptoms or problems?
And they want most recent examples for everything. I have good stuff from the past that makes for far more interesting stories, like when a teenager set fire to the tire mound in Catskill and you could see the flames in other states. We didn't publish a newspaper on Sundays and this was a Saturday afternoon, so it would be two days before we could tell people what was happening in their town. Let the bigger papers get there first? Not likely. I got permission to print a special edition and rounded up most of the staff to get out there and work, and then learned some parts of the trade I'd never done before, like helping run the printing press, so we could get that out in a timely manner. And we did it because that's what we did. There was no talk of overtime or any of that. Of course, I was in my 20s then. We won plenty of awards for that coverage. I even won a photography award, and this was in the days before point-and-shoot cameras. I was terrible.
DONE!
Thank you, BK!
I find the cover quite eye-catching and attractive.
-
This is all well and good, but my copy doesn't seem to have been delivered.
-
The Rupert blurb couldn't be better; it really makes you want to read the book.
-
The Rupert Holmes blurb lets us know all we need to know - and leaves just enough to the imagination!
-
This is all well and good, but my copy doesn't seem to have been delivered.
Hidden under all that snow, I'm sure.
-
I haven't gotten mine yet either DR CHAS SMITH....and it's been more than 15 minutes.
Hey, now I can turn those alarms off!
Oh wait. I have to change them to 6:30, to get up and take the snowblower out again.
In ten-degree weather.
From time to time I am privy to little tidbits of upcoming BK projects. I must keep MUM, of course, or BK would have my head, and rightfully so. I heard about this one early on, but it seems it has evolved in a most interesting direction. I'm quite looking forward to reading it.
-
Thanks again for the early release , Bruce and since tomorrow is going to be a nightmare of a day....
-
Good night
-
I shall dream of Thrill Ride
-
I'm outta here, too, to get a few hours of beauty sleep before ... well, you know.
Looks like it'll be up to TCB to get us to page fifty.
When are you moving to Washington? The 14-hour days might be a nice break from your present job.
-
vibes for Vixmom's NYC closing.
-
vibes for DR Chas' crack-of-dawn snowblowing.
(Won't you wake the neighbors?)
-
Vibes to BK for a rush of book orders.
-
Vibes to all for a productive and pleasant Friday.
-
Good night.
-
Do you think the actual blurb gives away too much - it's really just the bones of the story and has no spoilers at all.
-
Page nine? Really?
-
Where in tarnation IS everyone?
-
Hopefully TCB, George, and Jane will be here soon.
-
Easy travels vibes for DR Vixmom tomorrow!
-
Do you all like the cover - I absolutely love it - and how about the Rupert blurb?
Yup to both. I like the title and the concept of the ride 😊
I will only know that once I actually read the book and find how close it is to the images in my brain as I read the blurb.
Is it midnight yet?
No....not even on the East Coast.
I got home about 45 minutes ago. After volunteering at the comedy show (I didn't stay for the second set), I went shopping for a couple of things, then came home. First, I made me something to eat, then I ate it, then came up to my bedroom and started to ketchup here on HHW, and thought I'd check Kritzerland.com to be ready for midnight, and the book is already available! How many have already sold?? :-\
-
Oh, my goodness! It's Page 10!!
Good evening!
-
I guess my clock is broken
-
Great news from DR Elmore!
-
Continued vibes for DR John. How very frustrating. You are in my prayers.
-
Yes, we're well within the first fifteen :)
18 Guests are on the board.
Neither...at work, we're having a bake sale for a local charity and I had a smallish piece of apple cake that someone brought and it was delish! So getting a cheesecake wasn't an option. What I bought at the store was a can of Cheesy Potato with Bacon flavor soup. It was a total impulse purchase (I wasn't really looking for anything specific).
I have some leftover taco meat and Spanish rice that I want to finish first, so I'll try it this weekend.
