Well, you've read the notes, the notes had untied shoelaces, and now it is time for you to post until the untied cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: SWARD!
-
~~~Feel Better Quickly Vibes for BK!!~~~
-
Second post after DR George.
-
BK, I am glad you weren't hurt any worse than you were. I hope you feel better tomorrow.
-
Is today Thursday?
-
BK, have you thought about getting some inexpensive Birkenstock-type sandals that you don't have to tie to wear for such occasions as moving your car? They can be quite comfortable and very convenient.
-
Is today Thursday?
All day.
-
All these weeks of being down for the count have really screwed up my internal calendar.
-
Is today Thursday?
All day.
I was afraid of that.
My friend, Sandy, has returned from Hawaii.
My friend, Sandy, has returned from Hawaii.
Did he enjoy his time there?
My friend, Sandy, has returned from Hawaii.
Did he enjoy his time there?
He said he had a very relaxing time staying with relatives in their condo in Maui.
-
Nice!
-
I'm sure he didn't miss our rain and snow.
-
I had a pair of what they used to call thongs before that word took on a whole new meaning, but one of them has a broken strap so I can't wear them - I keep meaning to get a pair of what they now call flip-flops.
-
I've started to learn Echo Valley, which Rupert wrote for The Partridge Family - nice connection there.
-
Page one? Really?
-
I don't like the part that goes in between the toes. I had a pair of Birkenstocks for years, until they finally just wore out. Last year, I bought a pair of Pali Hawaii Jesus Buckle Sandal (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0175GSY90/) (that's the actual name of the sandals...although I have no idea what a Jesus buckle is), but they're pretty comfy and fairly inexpensive.
Those are nice looking. Where did you buy them? I don't like the piece between your toes, either.
Amazon. There's a hyperlink in my comment to BK, but I'll make it more obvious:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0175GSY90/
-
Sorry. I missed that.
-
Now, the comments say that you should buy a size smaller, but the ones I got are a little smaller, so I should've gotten the next size up. They're just the tiniest bit too small, but still comfortable.
-
Sorry. I missed that.
The blue lettering with the blue background can make it difficult to make it out.
For me, a half size larger would be better than a whole size larger, but they don't seem to have half sizes. :-\
-
I bought those - so cheap.
-
Good night, gentlemen!
-
I bought those - so cheap.
The Pali Hawaii Jesus Buckle Sandals? That's too bad. I like the pair that I got...of course, (and I've said this before), I could just have lower standards.
;)
-
Good night, gentlemen!
Good night, Tom and BK. I'm going to bed, too.
Have a good day, today!
-
But, before I go...
-
PAGE TWO DANCE!!
-
Good morning to all
-
Good morning, all.
-
Crazy dream, on two or three of the standard themes that hadn't been revisited in a while. And yet, nothing to write home about. Not that I was intending to write home about it.
-
I think someday BK must write a monograph (does anyone still say monograph?) (and if they say it, does anyone still write monographs?) on the recorded legacy of the symphonies of Sibelius.
The subject could also, of course, be at the heart of a mystery novel.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Good morning, all!
-
After a lousy night of sleep, last night i slept quite well. I used to remember my dreams quite vividly, but these days they disapewar from my mind too quickly.
-
This morning at City Center, Joshie and I will finish the overtire, look over the scores we've been writing, and see where everything currently stands fo next Thursday.
-
OUCH!
Like DR GEORGE, I have a pair of slip on shoes that I wear for just such short jaunts outside.
MR BK it is important that at our age you wear BLACK DRESS SOCKS with those sandals that you purchased....and some becoming Bermuda shorts if possible.
-
Vibes for DR JOHN G.
-
TOD:
Witness for the Prosecution
Ten Little Indians
I shall have to see some other lists.....
-
DR TCB's post from last night reminded me of a newspaper misprint:
Mr. and Mrs. Jones are the proud parents of an infant named Carl Everwet.
-
And of course:
Two prisoners were injured in the escape attempt, and a guard was shot in the excitement.
-
And again:
Mrs. Iva Smedley fell on the ice on her back steps yesterday. The fall broke her whatnot and injured otherwise.
-
And last but not least:
A witness told police he had seen the dead man riding a motorcycle.
-
Someone wrote that Spring was on its way.
Not here it isn't. I have never seen so much snow. It snowed 30 cms/12 inches on Saturday. And another maybe 30 cms in 2 snowfalls yesterday (one overnight Tues to Wed and one more Wed night). This is ridiculous. It is piled like 10 feet high in some places!!!!!!!!!!!
-
I've always liked 23 PACES TO BAKER STREET.
Saw it when it first came out. I have a DVD of it somewhere.
-
TOD:
THE 39 STEPS
-
My son, David, and his lady are currently in the air, flying to New Zealand for a week.
I told him to bring me back a Hobbit.
-
New Zealand always seemed so exotic to me.
-
I've started to watch 23 PACES a few times, but not being a BIG Van Johnson fan, I haven't ever made it all the way through.
-
TOD:
I love the TV Poirots (Suchet) and Miss Marples (Hixon) very much.
On film:
The Third Man
Gosford Park
The Hound of the Baskervilles
And Then There Were None
Hangover Square
Gaslight
The Lodger
-
Well, good morning! And there you have it!
-
Oh, I forgot about:
THE LODGER
HANGOVER SQUARE
-
TOD:
The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes
-
Morning has broken in Oakland CA, as well.
Happily, it's a "half day" of work, and I'm then off on a four-day weekend!!!
-
I have the DVD of 23 Paces to Baker Street, but it's PAL, and I always prefer to upgrade those to Blu-ray for correct speed if nothing else.
Too bad about the color.
-
Love the headlines, DR Jrand66.
-
Sorry for being late this morning!
-
First on page 3!
-
Jennifer, I'm sorry you're buried under snow. It's spring here in Texas but that means more to sneeze at. And my nose is obliging.
-
TOD:
The Miss Marple series with Margaret Rutherford
The 39 Steps
The Lady Vanishes
Gosford Park
Does The Ladykillers count?
-
OMG - I forgot about Miss Marple with Dame Margaret.....
-
Has any DR worked on a production of CURTAINS. The program committee turned down MANY suggestions from me and settled on CURTAINS.....so I am sort of stuck directing it - and now some of those same people are saying it's not a good show, not funny, nobody knows it....etc.....so there you are.
Was it fun? Did the audience enjoy it?
-
I didn't work on it, but I saw it at a local theater. The audience seemed to love it. Lots of great roles for local actors.
-
Good morning.
-
Since Curtains was written by BK's personal friend, Rupert Holmes, perhaps Mr Holmes could pass along an insight or suggestion or two.
-
I'm up, I'm up - just about eight hours of sleep.
-
The color on the Blu of 23 Paces isn't terrible, just not what it should be. Because it's a new transfer I worry that these idiots who complain about all the Fox transfers being too blue finally got to Fox and now they're giving those handful of twits what they want.
If they like sci-fi comedy adventure, have I got a show for them! (available in the full-length PG version or a version for kids from 5 to 95, as we like to say. :)
-
Or at least it'll be available in a month or so.
-
Or at least it'll be available in a month or so.
Need to dig up that CD.
Love is like water ...
-
Bruce I hope you aren't too sore today. It was hard for me to read about the fall. You can imagine knowing that I break I have a bit of a terror regarding falls like yours.
-
I have never listened to an audio book, parts but not entire books. While unconventional I am sure I have heard friends talking about multiple voices on their books.
-
My friend, Sandy, has returned from Hawaii.
Did he enjoy his time there?
He said he had a very relaxing time staying with relatives in their condo in Maui.
Nice. It sounds exactly what he needed.
-
Sorry. I missed that.
I think it was because your eyes are drawn to the large photo of the sandals ;)
-
I need sandals with back straps to keep them on.
My ankle is just a tiny bit sore - all else seems fine. It was so irritating I can't tell you. Although I just did. :)
You must be getting the same weather my friend in Maine is experiencing. And us in the Pacific Northwest keep talking about our nonstop rain. At least it is 43 degrees where I am.
-
Speaking of rain I have been told L.A. will receive 7" worth over the weekend. I hope not.
-
My ankle is just a tiny bit sore - all else seems fine. It was so irritating I can't tell you. Although I just did. :)
Try to elevate it and keep off of it today. I'm glad it isn't worse.
Thanks DR LAURA - that's what I thought.
-
Good suggestion DR JOHN G.
-
TOD:
Ten Little Indians
Which one?
-
DR Ron, the 1945 And Then There Were None? I would like to watch that one again.
-
I have never listened to an audio book, parts but not entire books. While unconventional I am sure I have heard friends talking about multiple voices on their books.
I don't mind that approach. One of the best I recall was Harris Yulin leading an all-star cast in a Ross Macdonald mystery.
-
I believe you. Glad it wasn't worse.
-
Let's move on ...
-
Four!
-
Back from a fun lunch - I think we're going to do an audio book on Thrill Ride.
-
Glad to hear that.
-
Well, in the completely unexpected department - I just got Cindy Williams to do the lead female character's voice in the audio book - there will be three actors total in this.
-
Well, it ran longer than I thought it deserved. I thought there were several problems:
1. I thought the show within the show was too vague
2. I thought the denouement and the killer were not well thought out
3. I thought it never lived up to its potential
4. I thought the songs within the show being produced were not very good and I could never get a handle on what year we were in.
-
And I am home from City Center with several scores to proofread. Tomorrow I have therapy, then work at home. I may see Joshie over the weekend, but we finished the overture and I think we did a bang-up job with it.
-
I would concur that Curtains, which was resurrected solely because of Writer's Block (it was, that's the real fact of the matter), is not very good.
-
Today I got in the mail my referral to another spinal-joint specialist and more sessions of physical therapy. I hope this new specialist can help me out.
-
I'm wondering whatever happened to directors who were able to shape and develop a new show. Scott Ellis failed with Steel Pier and Curtains, but i don't think he's much of a director.
-
Well MR BK & DR ELMORE have said pretty much what I said when the show was suggested....but what can one do?
-
WOW, congratulations!
For those interested, it continues to rain here without any breaks.
Bruce Lansbury, brother of Angela, passed away on the 13th.
Surprisingly, I just got a first pass designed book interior for Grant. So I go over tomorrow at noon and we finesse then I'll print out for the final proofing - we should have this to the publisher as early as Tuesday. It looks great but the margins are a hair too wide, I think and he accidentally left the right side text ragged, which we've never done, it's always justified left and right, so that's very easy to fix. I also have an idea for the chapter headings that might be fun. But it's going to look great and I'm excited we're getting to it tomorrow rather than Saturday.
Wow how exciting. I have never listened to an audio book, but know a lot of people who love them. I think some have one narrator doing all the parts. And some have a male and a female.
A good number of my friends listened to audio books on long trips but I never could get Keith to do this. I missed my chance as I need subtitles to watch tv, listening to a book would be difficult. I would like to hear some of this though to get a feel for it, after I read the book.
-
Speaking of reading Bruce. I have a decent kindle app on my newish tablet :)
-
In Ashland, very close to where we lived, my friends would stop into Blackstone Audio to purchase their books. Apparently a number of the voices were favorite actors at the Shakespeare Festival.
Susan Stroman can't shape other people's work the way her husband could. Hal Princes and Tommy Tunes are not made everyday.
-
Hello, everyone.
-
Continued health vibes to Vixmom, TCB, Kerry, and Laura.
-
Condolences to DR Elmore.
-
As Jane mentioned, we're expecting a HUGE storm tomorrow. Weather Underground says it'll be the biggest storm of the last 10-20 years. Have my kitchen windows been repaired yet? No. The manager, however, brought home a brand new BMW. Coincidence?
-
I can't help but envision huge flooding. For all those who say that'll never happen, all I can say is, "Ever been through a hurricane?" I know many of you have been through one. I hope it's not bad here, but nevertheless I've moved some files and such away from the most vulnerable areas of my kitchen.
-
I also rescheduled my acupuncture appointment from Friday to Saturday, when the storm should be over. We all know what happened last week when I was traipsing around in the rain trying to find my car. The tow was only indirectly related to the rain, but still.
-
There was one winter when LA had LOTS of flooding. It was sometime in the 1970s. BK? Jane? Chas? Heavy rain every day for about two weeks, IIRC.
-
Bruce, the jacuzzi might help you. Also, the Arnica. And ice. (Not at the same time.) Hope you're 100% asap.
-
TTFN.
Good idea.
Landslides are a big concern for some of those hillside homes.
I mostly remember the gully behind Castle Heights Elementary school overflowing. My mother, knowing that was the day it would happen, kept me home from school figuring I wouldn't be there long. I'm kind of sorry I missed the action. I recall standing at the back fence for a couple of days watching the water rise. Years ago a street was put in above the gully.
-
I just read there is a flood advisory warning in our region until 7:45.
Until later.
Yup ;D
-
Have a good evening George.
-
DR Vixmom & DR TCB how are you feeling this evening?
-
Hello all
-
Glad to hear Bruce's fall was not worse
-
Grant did another pass, justified the right side text, did the em dashes and resent, so I'm printing that out at Staples and will spend the evening proofing - that way tomorrow we can pretty much put this to bed save for one final proofing. I want to have a bit more fun with the chapter headings and titles so I'm bringing about seven books I picked from my book room that do unconventional things with the chapter headings.
-
I went back to work today
-
And there was great rejoicing
-
I should have been this popular in high school
-
But everyone was very kind, kept me away from the phones and mainly turned to me for advice and guidance
-
Nonetheless I was exhausted and was the first one out of the office at 5:30
-
I was home by 6 and by 6:30 I was showered , in my pjs and eating my dinner
-
I had a little doze and now I am enjoying a hot cuppa with honey and lemon
-
I went back to work today
I noticed :-\
Better than I had hoped. Vibes none of them catch what you have!!!!
:)
-
I've told Alexa (the voice service that powers Echo) to set an alarm for 7:45. I am curious if the rain, which shows no signs of letting up, will truly stop then as predicted.
-
I should have been this popular in high school
Ha!
-
Vibes for everyone affected by the storms.
-
Six!
-
Good evening.
-
Thanks for the wellness vibes, Jeanne, but I'm fine. I think my foot will always be sore, but it doesn't stop me from doing most things. I will pass the vibes along to Vixmom, TCB, and Kerry!
-
Vibes for everyone affected by the storms.
It seems our rains really did end at 7:45 tonight. We can see the sky again :)
-
Good evening!
-
Page 6 by eight o'clock? Is it my birthday?
-
Greetings, 1 Guest!
-
Thank you for continued health vibes from everyone.
-
The pain has been really strong today. Maybe it is a sign of healing.
-
We only had a few showers today.
-
Nothing like the last couple of days.
-
Tomorrow is supposed to be dry.
-
But rain is back for the weekend.
-
7 inches of rain expected in Southern California? That is crazy.
-
I drove our guest away.
-
I hope George's preview went well this evening.
-
The Vicodin doesn't seem to be cutting it tonight.
-
I got my Social Security check deposited today. Not earth-shattering news, except it arrived one week early.
-
The pain has been really strong today. Maybe it is a sign of healing.
DARN, vibes it is better tomorrow!
Keith found that is the top possibility. Hopefully it will be much less.
I am surprised you don't have it automatically deposited.
Thanks, Jane! The performance went very well. One actress is a bit under the weather, so she was coughing a little near the end of the show, but she got through it.
-
I hope George's preview went well this evening.
Thanks, Tom! It did!
-
And Larry wasn't the only one in the audience. The husband of one of the actresses was there, so including the director, we had three people watcing tonight!
;)
