Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of an unknown podcast, and now it is time for you to post until the podcasting cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: IRENIC!
-
First post after BK!
-
T.O.D.
HOUSEBOAT
EL CID
I was going to say MAN OF LA MANCA, but I was afraid someone would think I was serious.
-
First post after after TCB's second post!
-
And the word of the day is: IRENIC!
Wasn't that the musical that Debbie Reynolds did on Broadway?
-
Good night, George.
-
Good night, George.
Good night, Tom.
-
First post in the morning!
-
We are under a blizzard warning.
-
George - thanks for watching and for your post last night!
-
Good morning, all!

I had one doozy of a dream last night: Cincinnati in the late 19th-early 20th century and a plot by a group of villains to blow up a building - hospital, maybe? - and blame those behind the hospital and other charitable acts in the town for the destruction through their incompetence It was quite involved, and much of the dream was about evacuating the new 10-storey building. I believe DR Ginny was one of the people helping.
-
This is a physical therapy morning, my first in ages since I was prevented from going for two weeks by that HMO glitch.
-
Good morning
-
I am exhausted
-
I will stop at my bank on the way there, and head down to City Center when it's over. There are threats of a huge storm tomorrow with up to 12 inches of snow. I may be stsyng in if this happens, and I need to give Joshie all the help I can today. We need to be ready by Thursday for Friday's sitzprobe.
-
Hello, DR vixmom!
-
Good morning, all.

Good Morning To All (Part Two)

Beat me to it! :-)
-
Good morning, all.

My dream was about the cemetery in Poughkeepsie where my great-great-grandfather and several others are buried. It started okay, but turned silly. There was one before that in which I was deciding to walk down the stairs of some multi-storied building rather than wait for the elevators.
-
I do not love our weather forecast. Blizzard warnings for tomorrow, and since the snow is starting tonight, we're easily going to exceed a foot.
-
La Cage aux Folles has left the building. Last two shows were excellent, a fine recovery from the Friday Night Massacre.
It seems a couple of additional major things had gone wrong on stage Friday that I'd been unaware of. And as it happened, they'd made their archival recording of the show that night, so everyone was quite happy when they brought the videographer back last night.
-
Even though Arizona doesn't recognize Daylight Savings Time (thank God!), I could still use another hour of sleep!
-
My evenings of watching the sunset while I wash the dinner dishes are over, they are too late now. I used to love the time change and be sad when it was over, now I am sorry when Daylight savings begins.
-
This has nothing to do with daylight vs standard, but I just remembered that the year and a half I lived in the Chicago area (a.k.a. Chicagoland), I grew to love being on Central Time.
I think the main reason was that TV broadcasts were concurrent with Eastern Time, making everything in prime time an hour earlier, which for me made TV viewing (evening news, late night shows, etc.) all the more enjoyable.
Hadn't thought about that in years.
-
I didn't know that about the broadcast hours. I would also have liked that.
-
Nice photos of the Alamo from DR JOHN G.
Nice song from DR FJL.

Monday morning greetings! I have a much quieter week ahead than last, for which I am very grateful. This morning I have to do a post office errand for AAUW, then have nothing on my calendar until a routine doctor's appointment on Wednesday.

Ditto from me, too! I hope it's not as bad as predicted and is all melted by a week from Wednesday...
-
DR Elmore, remember I'm not very good at evacuating buildings because MY recurring librarian dream is not being able to get everyone out at closing time!
-
Thanks so much, Jrand!
-
Back from one more shopping trip. Not panic shopping -- I just wanted to get the supplies for Friday's St. Patrick's feast taken care of. I didn't want to have to panic-shop for THAT in the aftermath of the storm.
-
DR Elmore, remember I'm not very good at evacuating buildings because MY recurring librarian dream is not being able to get everyone out at closing time!
I think this is sufficient warning for all of us not to get caught in either of DR Elmore's or DR Ginny's evacuation dreams.
-
Actually, I'm thinking that my stairs vs elevator dream has to be derived from that single slow elevator at Carroll Studios in NYC.
On one of my first visits there I decided that, rather than wait for the elevator, I was surely able-bodied enough to get a little exercise by walking up from street level to the sixth floor. OMG. I'm alive to tell about it, but I can't claim much more than that.
-
Next up:
Ready the Music Room for the return of keyboard and all that good stuff, then schlep all of it from the car and set it up.

Just finished listening to Come From Away, which is free on NPR.org this week. Very enjoyable first listen.
-
That sky full of crap that Jerry Herman told me about has landed in my lap today. Too many people are on spring break.
-
Music Room is almost back together.
Power equipment in the garage is about as ready for the storm as it's going to be.
-
A few more things to do, then a shower, and hopefully a long leisurely evening of watching and/or listening to some things.
I still haven't watched The Boy Friend. This might be the night for it.

Went and picked up some packages, including my Amazon-ordered Thrill Ride hardcover - funny it arrived before the publisher's test copy - it looks great.

I wanted to watch Richard Burton in VILLAIN on TCM OnDEMAND, but the sound on the movie is out of synch.......

Tomorrow is Pi Day. What kinda pie should I make?

Glad it looks great. But that is strange.

A square one. Then you can claim "pie are square".

A good thing, too, 'cause groaning is forbidden here, or so I've been told.

I blame the springing forward on the sluggishness in this here blog today. We should be on page 4, at least.
But no. And it's nearly time for me to go home.

The CBO has reported today that the new, proposed GOP American Health Care Act will save the government $300 billion.
Of course, the report expects nearly 24 million currently insured to be uninsured by 2026.
But what's that to anyone in Congress?

I was hoping for reports on Stella. Does anyone know where she is?
-
Not looking forward to the snow that is supposed to come tomorrow afternoon/night. :(
-
Is your snow going to be part of Stella the mega winter storm or just local snow?
;D
-
Snow is on the way, but the amount may vary considerably in the DC area.
-
Craig said it hadn't arrived yet and he was expecting a snow day off of work. I tried tracking the storm but couldn't find any current info.
-
Well, it's time for me to leave work.
Be back later.
-
Good evening.
-
Is everybody snowed in?
-
Page three? Really?
-
Really?
-
I guess it's a reality.
-
But not for long.
-
Four?

Page four? Really?

Finished "In the Great Green Room," a bio of children's book author Margaret Wise Brown, this morning. I recommend it, especially if you have not read any of the reviews.
-
Started Oliver Sacks' "Musicophilia" about the brain and music.
-
So far so good, but I'm only about 30 pages into it.
-
Thawing rhubarb and tart cherries for a pie.
-
Back from an excellent meal at the local Thai place - very full, although I didn't really eat all that much food.
-
Starting to watch Arrival. I'm enjoying the first half hour, but the film is unnecessarily dark. Well, it may be dark to cover the small budget.

The only file still needed I am closing in my office at 4 pm so I can prep that Wednesday morning
-
And I brought home a lot of files that I can review tomorrow

My holpe is that if the 20 inches of threatened snow is to come that at least 8 inches is on the ground by 7 am. That way the boss can't decide it's ok to open the ofice
-
Did you ever get that bottle of wine for the beef stew, Vixmom?

I did, I trimmed the beef then let it sit in the wine and some minced garlic for a couple of hours, then I mixed some salt and pepper and paprika in some flour and tossed all the beef
Browned them in little oil in my Dutch oven, then sauteed some onion in the drippings, then peeled and cut some russet potatoes into chunks, put them in with the onions and some sliced carrots, put the meat back in added some more wine and beef broth and put the whole thing into the oven for a couple of hours .
It came out well. I added some canned peas at the end because...lazy
