Well, you've read the notes, the notes had notes whist Rachmaninov notes played, and now it is time for you to post until the noted cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: SUPERBITY!
-
And a very happy birthday to my very own actual Darling Daughter.
-
First post after BK!
-
Didn't we just do Julie Christie movies?
-
Oh well.
HEAVEN CAN WAIT
DR. ZHIVAGO
-
Did we? Oh, yeah, jeez, she was in Fahrenheit - I'll change it.

From yesterday:
Very good reports about Ms. Midler and Dolly.
I'd read a couple of comments, people questioning that because of her age, if she could handle 8 shows a week. I think with her having toured for years and her Las Vegas shows that were super high energy, she's got more than enough endurance for a show like Hello, Dolly!
-
I thought she wasn't doing 8 shows a week. Isn't Donna Murphy doing a couple of shows each week?
-
Okay, Donna Murphy is doing all of the Tuesday night performances.
-
Carol Channing at seventy-five did eight shows a week for a year.
-
Okay, Donna Murphy is doing all of the Tuesday night performances.
I didn't know that.

Topic of the Day:
2001: A Space Odyssey
Ex Machina
Hidden Figures (I haven't seen the movie, yet, but I'm reading the book now and am enjoying it, so far)
The Imitation Game
Independence Day (the original)
The Matrix (I think I only saw the first one)
Tron

'night.
-
Thursday morning greetings! Up early to meet Becky for coffee before my 12:45 hair appointment. Guess that makes me the first eastern time zone poster...
-
Desk Set is a nifty computer movie.
It's also a nifty librarian movie, one of my favorites!

Good morning, all!

Desk Set is a nifty computer movie.
It's also a nifty librarian movie, one of my favorites!
Love most every minute of that movie, especially Katharine Hepburn singing Night and Day.
-
Ex Machina is another great one for the list.

I expect today will be a long day at City Center. Since Joshie hates the way I tape orchestra parts, his brother Jeremy will be doing that. I suspect my biggest task will be transferring markings from orchestra parts we are no longer using to new orchestra parts. I hope everything goes quickly since I do not want either Joshie or myself staying late. We have to be alert for tomorrow morning's rehearsal before the sitzprobe. We have five or six new charts to play down and check for errors as well as running through the charts with fixes.

So, DRs who are coming into Manhattan next week, when are you arriving?
-
I received an email that my taxes have been electronically filed and accepted.
-
Last night I started re-viewing the wonderful BBC production of I, Claudius, with Sian Phillips and Derek Jacobi. I had read the two Robert Graves novels when I was a college Latin major, along with Graves' novels Hercules, My Shipmate and King Jesus.

Going to the hospital today for my pre-op.
Surgery set for next Thursday.

vixmom, are my messages getting through? Just checking if those mp3 files came through so you could hear them OK.
-
Good morning, all.

Health vibes to Druxy from us here in NYC also!
-
Today, which feels like a Monday (see: previous two days), is a Thursday, an at-home day in which I will do some work in the Music Room while helping to clean some crap up from the
weekend previous two days in preparation for the houseguest who arrives tomorrow for the real weekend.
-
Good morning.
-
Vixmom, did you decide on a crock pot recipe?
The few at the top of a Google search are all pretty similar. Looks like they call for eight or nine hours slow cooking, and I believe these are all for one (1) corned beef.
I'm thinking now that since I'm cooking four of the beasts, I'll do the larger ones my usual way, and do one in the crock pot. Got to branch out. Got to give myself a potential break in the cooking chores. Got to learn to trust these things. Got to see what the difference in results is, if any. Got to keep up with those vixes.
-
They have you slow-cooking the veggies along with the beef. That's another good thing for me to compare, because I customarily cook mine separately.
-
DR Elmore: I'll be coming in Saturday morning to meet wherever the gang is going to meet.
However, if anyone wants to do anything Thursday or Friday, I'll probably be free to pop into town then, too.
-
Pre-op vibes to Druxy and stay-healthy vibes to all. This is no time to be coming down with anything.
-
Stop me if this was discussed about the Oscars hoo-ha.
I just watched the clip again of the Best Picture announcement, and it seems clear that a reasonable person (that would probably be Warren Beatty) saw the winner named as "Emma Stone, La La Land", tried to point it out to Faye Dunaway, who basically laughed it off and despite knowing "Emma Stone, La La Land" could not possibly be the winner of Best Picture, announced "La La Land" anyway. So Warren Beatty stood there knowing it was a mistake.
I guess I think the wrath being brought on the CPA firm (and I guess I'm biased about CPAs and their responsibility for totally innocent mistakes which cause no real damage or harm) seems overwrought. Of course, they shouldn't have handed them the wrong envelope, but a reasonable person would have known the contents of the envelope were wrong, wouldn't he or she?
Some accounting thoughts this tax season.
-
Chas and Elmore (and vixmom as a possibility if you can escape work early) -
Are you still on for that early-ish dinner on Tuesday April 18, when DR Matthew (with whom I sense you both have lots in common in terms of the work you do) is in town?
I should probably book a reservation somewhere since Tuesdays seem to be a popular early dinner night on The Broad Way due to Tues 7 pm curtains.
-
Good morning to all

"The Desk Set" -- it's far more amusing today than it was in 1957 because the computer therein took up a huge space in a building and used cards. So forward-looking at the time and so antiquated today.

"War Games" -- Shall. we. play. a. game?

"That Touch of Mink" - Doris Day reacts to someone's suggestion she was hired out of favoritism. She quits, but pushes the Master Control button of a large computer. Chaos ensues.

I get there on Wednesday and leave Monday. Please order some nice weather.

Wow, this just popped into my head: Single White Female :)
How about The Net? -- which I still want to see just one more time (I saw it when released), even though it was dated and kind of laughable the day it opened!
Finally, I LOVE Demon Seed. I, too, have only watched it once since its release, and though I have the DVD, I think that viewing was actually on VHS! Would my memory of it playing the Avco Embassy be correct?

SURGERY VIBES FOR DR DRUXY!

I have just finished a bowl of grits with sausage. Our Janitorial Supervisor brings in breakfast whenever she's interviewing for new hires. She brought me a special serving about 30 minutes ago.
And it was GOOD!!
-
Ron - Why does she bring in breakfast on those days? Is it for the job applicants?
-
TOD:
Okay, this wasn't a movie, but the pilot episode of "Anything But Love" (starring Jamie Lee Curtis and Richard Lewis) was centered around computers and it was very funny.
2001: Space Odyssey

"The Net" should have been a good movie, but really wasn't.

It was fun when you occasionally posted.

Happy Birthday to the DD of MR BK!

Danny Kaye instead of Doris Day?

It's a grey day in Oakland CA.
-
Am running my space heater again. it's very cool in the offices when the sun is obscured by cloud cover.
-
I woke up at 3:32 a.m. and could not go back to sleep. Might have something to do with having gone to bed at 9 p.m.
At any rate, I piddled around until about 5:45 a.m. and then dressed and came to work.
Now...I am very sleepy. Yes, lawse, s-l-e-e-p-y.
-
Am hoping my Twilight Time Blu rays arrive today.
Am anticipating "Peyton Place" and "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying".
-
I think mine arrived. Will go down to the mailbox shortly. Those two, and "Our Man in Havana".

I received an email that my taxes have been electronically filed and accepted.

Sonofabitch Firefox just updated itself, and now refuses to retain my login and password for this lovely site, meaning I have to type it in each time over their warning that the site is unsecured (i.e., isn't an https:// one).
Changing over to Chrome NOW.
-
Yeah, this works well. I'd actually been intending to migrate back to Chrome.
-
I hate updates on computers. Nothing is ever the same after any of them.

Page four? Really?
-
Morning visit over and went quickly, thank goodness.

Had BBQ for lunch. Very nice. Brisket and a sausage.

For when "brisket" just isn't enough by itself?

Page four? Really?
Truly.

I see it's just me and 0 Guests.

I never wanted it with anything let alone by itself ;D

Once the river reaches the bottom of the water measurement stick we need to pay close attention to it.

Along with the large number of people who came to see our mini-flood was this guy.
-
Jane - Great photos!

TOD: "The Paper Man" is the first one that comes to mind
-
Had some penne pasta with red sauce, made here by my own self. It was good and I am full but I think I have less than eight ounces of pasta.
-
Nice photos DR JANE.
DR RLP I think Danny Kaye did it.....but Ann Morgan Guilbert came back from lunch and fainted dead away on the floor in the middle of all of the punch cards.
-
BOMBSHELL TONIGHT!!!!
ALL LOCAL MEDIA MUST HALT REGULAR BROADCASTS AND START REPORTING ON THIS STORY.
THERE IS NOTHING ELSE HAPPENING IN THE WORLD THAT EFFECTS US AS MUCH AS THIS DOES.
NOW HEAR THIS.....FOR THE NEXT FIVE HOURS......
IU has fired its Basketball Coach......
-
Becky and I had a nice coffee visit at the Starbucks that's between our homes. From there I went to see Tina for a haircut and home for lunch. Now I'm ready for Katie to pick me up for tonight's book group meeting. Nita is treating us to dinner at her country club, which is very generous. The book is Donna Tartt's The Secret History, a book this group read in its early days. I chose not to reread it, but read the articles Sharon sent and recalled enough to participate in the discussion.
-
Jane - Great photos!
Agreed! Very nice!
-
I have here signed photos from Laverne and Shirley, which were meant for the recent Indiegogo but didn't manage to become a perk. If anyone would like one - we were going to charge 150 on Indiegogo - I just checked eBay for these - they go from $80 to $200 there. Both Penny and Cindy have signed these color photos and any money made from selling them will go directly to LACC Theatre Academy - so before I do anything else with them, if anyone here would like one it's $40.
-
Nice photos DR JANE.

Well who could blame her?

My Twilight Time Blu rays arrived. Am very psyched.
-
I think my first-up Blu ray will be "Peyton Place".
-
I've been at work 9 1/2 hours now...and I'm kind of sleepy again.
-
I "hope" to watch a Blu ray tonight. But it also may be an "early" night.
-
I won't get my Twilight Time Blu-rays until Nick is finished recuperating from his recent surgery.

I've stopped following IU basketball since Bobby Knight left.

Thank you DR Jrand & DR George.

Yes, great photos, DR Jane!
-
It wasn't major surgery for Nick - it all went well and he's home after a couple of days in the hospital - he needs to stay put for a couple of weeks, but he's doing well.
-
DR elmore: I'll be arriving next Friday and staying till Monday morning.
-
DR vixmom: what's the name of the restaurant for brunch? I thought I'd ask Ben and Anthony if they'd like to join us.
-
Happy Birthday to BK's darling daughter!

Looking forward to seeing Hello, Dolly! My friend Paul and I have tickets for October. I hope Ms. Midler will still be doing it by then!

-
Reservation in the name of Mann
-
Chas I decided to try to been a couple of recipes
-
The corned beef was 5.71 lbs and looked very lean until I took it out of th package
-
There was way too much fat for my taste so I ended up giving it a good trim and probably removed.a pound or so of fat which left a nice lean piece of meat
-
I sliced Spanish onion and put it in the bottom of my Dutch oven , put the meta on top, rubbed on the spices that came with the meat then added a quart of bef broth and 2 bottles of non alcoholic beer
-
Then I popped it in the oven at 275 degrees
-
Later I I will put the little fancy potatoes in the crock pot with some baby carrots, add the meat and onions and juice from the Dutch oven and cut the cabbage into wedges and put that on top and put it on warm
-
Hopefully everything will be nice by lunch time tomorrow
-
I was the last to leave work tonight,I decorated the conference room before I left
-
Green table cloth, I put a green derby with a shamrock band in the center and then sprinkled 60 gold colored plastic "lucky coins" around the hat . I also had 12 rub "lucky" bracelets in shades of green and white that I arranged around the hat.
I have a big silver tray to put the meat and veg on when it's time to serve and green plates and cups
-
I love the dollars store
-
My coworkers are supposed to be bringing mustard, Russian dressing, rye bread, sauerkraut, liquid refreshment, Irish soda bread and desserts
-
I hope my corned beef doesn't suck
-
I hope john g steps In soon to save everyone for the Monotony of a page of vixmom
-
I am getting very excited about seeing everyone next week
-
I just have to lose 40 lbs, get a haircut and a facelift before then
-
Shall we plan to meet front of Lillies around 11.15?
-
FJL. I will have to see what April brings but I would dearly love be there
-
One of my co workers has parents in Florida And her dad needs surgery so she is going down sometime in April
Another fell on the ice and broker her wrist over the weekend and a,so had to get 25 stitches in f her face ( she fell face first in her metal shovel ) and she is having thyroid surgery in April
Another s rental property ( she owns a few small houses upstate) burned down today
Another is waiting to find out if she is expecting and her fiancées. Grandad passed away today
Another"s mom had surgery for colon cancer On Monay
Another's fiancée had surgery for prostatecancer ,also on Monday
Another's daughters boyfriend committed suicide last week, in front of the daughter
My fence fell down... So I am the only one in the office that is not in the middle of a crisis
-
That actually doesn't sound like an office , it sounds more like a soap opera
-
But if the various situations allow. I would love to meet you all for dinner on April 18th!!
-
John g left and TCB and George have not arrived
-
I am sorry you are stuck with page of me

It sure does :(
-
Your decorations will be appreciated.
-
DR Druby I hope your pre-op went well.
-
Have written half the commentary. May do a bit more before bed, but then again I have to be up by six.
-
Think I'll take a shower right about now.
-
Good evening!
-
Today was a beautiful sunny day today.
-
Well the crockpot is too small for the veggies and the meat
-
Unfortunately, the clear skies today are going to make for a chilly night tonight.
-
Nothing major, just down into the 30s.
-
So I put the potatoes in the bottom, put the carrots on top of the potatoes, and ladled about half of the cooked onions and liquid from the corned beef in with veggies
Layered some cabbage on top, added a liitle water over the cabbage and turned it on low
-
I met my friend, Diane, down at the Emerald Queen for the buffet lunch.
-
I reduced the heat in the oven to 170 added the rest of the cabbage to the corned beef in the Dutch oven and put that back in the oven
-
I have an rectangular electric skillet which I believe will hold the meat and some cabbage for transport and keeping stem purposes
-
Lunch was good, but I had been suffering from heartburn all morning, so I didn't enjoy the food as much as I would have liked.
-
Unfortunately Vixdad's car is acting up so the morning will involve getting up at 6getting dressed, following vixdad to the dealership (about 10 miles away) taking him back to our town so he can catch the train to wifi and then coming back here to load up the car before I go to work
-
And since 6 am is now only 3 and 3/4 hours from now...
-
Goodnight!
-
Pre-op vibes for DR Druxy!
-
Happy Birthday to BK's DD!
-
There had better be some photo evidence of next week's HHW get-together.

Vixmom is still listed as being on the site, but I have my doubts.
-
Vixmom, I hope your St. Paddy's Day lunch is a big success.

I need to switch computers.

I shall return.

Yeah, yeah, I'm back.

But by Tuesday the rain returns.
