George, how is BOUNTIFUL going?
Otherwise, everyone is really solid on their lines, but I think it's really slow...of course, that could just be me. I think it's going to be at least 2-1/2 hours long. :-\

Oh, dear.
Tuesday morning greetings! My alarm was set for 4, but I got a text message at 3:30 that woke me up. It was American Airlines saying that our flight is on time. I went ahead and got up.
Congratulations to DR TCB and the Second Samuel company!

Thank you.
Congratulations to DR TCB and the Second Samuel company!
I had a similar experience where there was a Wendy's that had been there for at least 20 years (as long as I've been in the area so it maybe there even longer)
It will be replaced by a Pollo Tropical
Congratulations to TCB!
Procedure vibes for DR Laura!
FAST FIX VIBES TO DR ELMORE AND JOSHIE!
I'm not awake yet.

Orchestration vibes for DR Elmore and Joshie.
Something else is bugging me about that Du-Par's and McDonald's location.
Ask BK: Did that McDonald's originally replace something older and more interesting like maybe another Bob's Big Boy or [you name it]? I'd be thinking back as far as the '70s, and I could be totally wrong, but I'd almost swear I remember there was something more of interest in that spot than just the Du-Par's.
I hope DR Ginny is in the air by now.
Our flight is now delayed an hour because of winds in the city.
Neck surgery tomorrow.
I'll be off the board for a few days.
Positive thoughts, please.

Happy Birthday To Stephen Sondheim....Give Us More To See....and Hear !
I had the privilege tonight of catching a dress rehearsal of 1984 at TAO. It was a dress rehearsal (a good one), so I won't say more about the production. What I will say, and I'm saying it now because the podcast episode won't hit for nine days, is this dramatization of 1984 is the single most important play I've seen in this century. No exaggeration, no b.s.: It has to be seen by as many people in this region as logistically possible. And you can quote me on that.
Shameless plug ahead...a friend posted this on FB about TAO's production of 1984:QuoteI had the privilege tonight of catching a dress rehearsal of 1984 at TAO. That's great, Fred! I wish I could see this...and just about anything in New York!
Joshie has not been feeling well. I took him in for a recheck today and we found out that his thyroid is way high. That's good news. Bad would have been kidneys are cancer. He got some fluids and some meds to start on. He should be feeling better soon.
I just took my Happy Pill, so I should be getting nice and mellow in a few minutes. We leave for the periodontist in about a half hour. Last time they gave me some laughing gas and I slept through the whole thing. I hope they do the same today.
A very popular McDonald's in my neighborhood has shuttered its doors and removed its innards.
A completely gutted space.
I never once saw this McDonald's "lightly" used. Customers were aplenty.
I think there has been some national downsizing...and with little regard for popularity of various sites.
I hope DR Ginny is in the air by now.
DR Jane, when I last posted we'd landed in New York and were waiting for a gate. After 45 minutes they parked us as close to the terminal as possible and we walked across the tarmac right into baggage claim.

I think the McDonald's was always where it was, but there was a Tiny Naylor's to the west of Du-Par's by the car wash that used to be on the corner of Laurel Canyon and Ventura, where there is now yet another strip mall.
Our flight is now delayed an hour because of winds in the city.

Rule #1 in aviation: NOSE-PICKING IN TURBULENCE PROHIBITED
Another silly question:
Mid-to-late 1980s, I think this was in the shopping strip behind Du-Par's, but it might have been some other such strip along that same stretch of Ventura and on the same side of the road -- I recall being taken to an informal but nice sit-down Italian jernt that was popular for a while. No idea how long it lasted. Does that sound familiar?
New York is filling up!

Wonderful!
As soon as I got here, family situation has arisen. Mom has decided that Dad isn't to drive anymore. I've offered to buy the car. I think one sister was hoping to get it.
I survived. They didn't let me sleep this time, but it was nothing, really.
Neck surgery tomorrow.

Fun!
Generics on allergy pills don't work for me. The worst is the Benedryl substitute.
So, apparently folks at Mom and Dad's church staged an intervention and got Dad to agree to stop driving. Six couples have volunteered to take them to church, for groceries and to doctors' appointments. I hope it works.

DR John my library is pushing THE ART OF PIE as the big library read featured March 16-30th. I can join the discussion blog or listen to an interview with the author. I probably would have ignored it had you not mentioned the book.

I hope there are lost of photos of this week's festivities in New York.

What PR that book has.
I think tonight's opening went well. Joshie and I stayed to the end to hear our new bit of Exit Music. Rob's happy, we're happy, and the show is frozen. Joshie and I will be in Saturday's talkback after the Saturday matinee.

DR TCB, Thank you! This is the first major boost in Manhattan for my career after three years a lousy health and unemployment. Because of my mobility, I've turned down two projects for BK in LA that I would have loved to do, but this is the biggest thing to happen to me in a long time, and I am enjoying both the ride and whatever possibilities it generates. I am so grateful to Rob Berman and Jack Viertel for trusting me.
Page six? Really?

The run-through went really well tonight, and even with the two regual intermissions, The Trip to Bountiful came in at about 1 hour and 50 minutes. :)
