Well, you've read the notes, the notes were scrambled and tiny, and now it is time for you to post until the scrambled cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: OROGENY!
-
First post after BK!

Second post after BK!

And the word of the day is: OROGENY!
"But with OROGENY,
It's hodge-podgenee."
-
Well, I guess it is bedtime.
-
Good night, George.
-
Good night, Tom.
-
I went right to sleep, if only I could have stayed there.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Thank you for the travel vibes.
-
Good morning to all
-
All I remember of Eyewitness is William Hurt offering to buff Sigourney Weaver's floors. I think it was meant to be sexual, but it came off as bland as the rest of the picture

I did not sleep last night.....so there you are.....
I am not sure whether I will just stay up and hope to fall asleep at a regular time tonight, or go back to bed and sleep for a few hours.....

TOD:
John Hurt - I looked at his filmography and didn't see anything that I liked much....but I did see much that I hadn't even seen.
Sigourney Weaver - Galaxy Quest, Working Girl, Half Moon Street, Alien
Christopher Plummer - Alexander, Hanover Street, The Sound of Music, Stage Struck, The Fall of the Roman Empire
-
Congrats to DR ELMORE & Co. on their success!
Travel home vibes for all!
Ditto!
-
Good morning, all!
-
This is the week of recording Moonshine & Mistletoe. Some of the cast will be from the reading last August, some from the original workshop and Hilton Head production. Today and tomorrow we record the band, rehearse the cast on Wednesday and do vocals on Thursday and Friday. I hope it goes well.
-
DR TCB, I wish you'd been able to join us this weekend! I truly appreciate everyone's making the trek to Manhattan this weekend.
-
DR Ginny, I honestly do not kno how things will go at the studio today, so be prepared that nothing's settled about the schedule.
-
Monday morning greetings!
DR TCB, I wish you'd been able to join us this weekend! I truly appreciate everyone's making the trek to Manhattan this weekend.
Ditto to the first part! And, DR Elmore we wouldn't have missed it!
-
DR Ginny, I honestly do not kno how things will go at the studio today, so be prepared that nothing's settled about the schedule.
We understand fully and are prepared for anything. And, remember, we have a next step to our day's agenda that isn't fixed in time, so we're pretty flexible.
-
26th after BK!
-
And the word of the day is: OROGENY!
Oh, Orogeny! Find a man who's honest
Oh, Orogeny! Wrap him up for me
Find a man who's solid, stolid
Hook that fish, if he's in the seas.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Slept pretty well, which is good because I have a full day of musical practice 'n stuff ahead of me. Mermaid and Superstar. Actually, the rest of the week is going to be: Mermaid and Superstar.

Amy - Does it have to be from entirely from a musical, or just musical-related? Because the references to "Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend" that surrounded Madonna's "Material Girl" might make that an interesting medley.
-
John Hurt - no one had a slate of films quite like this:
10 Rillington Place
Midnight Express
The Disappearance
Alien
The Elephant Man
The Osterman Weekend
1984
Christopher Plummer - always great, or at the very least, enjoyable, but I feel like I should be coming up with more than this:
The Sound of Music
Return of the Pink Panther
The Disappearance
Dolores Claiborne
Up (voice)
Signourney Weaver - sort of likewise:
The Alien films
Ghostbusters
The Ice Storm
-
Woops. I forgot it was William Hurt, not John Hurt! :D
-
I'm almost positive I never got around to seeing EYEWITNESS, though I do remember intending to back in the day. So, now we'll just leave it at that.
-
Okay, here's William Hurt:
Altered States
Body Heat
The Big Chill (even though I don't love the movie)
Kiss of the Spider Woman
Broadcast News
-
It's raining as I pack up my Playbills and the rest of my suitcase.
-
Instead of auctioning off Norma's eyelashes or Joe's swimsuit like they do over st Sunset Blvd., the cast of A Bronx Tale sold autographed programs for $20 to help Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. I picked one up. One of my few souvenirs this trip.
-
As I sit in the limo service taking me to the airport I get a message saying my flight is delayed.

Well, here's to an otherwise uneventful return trip!

Travel vibes to John G, and to all other HHW-ers who can use them!

As I sit in the limo service taking me to the airport I get a message saying my flight is delayed.
That happened yesterday to my friend from Florida and it took her all night to get home. Hope your day goes more smoothly!
-
I really enjoyed seeing the NYC pictures. Thanks for posting them!
-
I don't know when we'll leave. Got another delay notice, then an email rescinding the second one.
And so I sit here at La Guardia.
-
I'm up, I'm up - weird dreams and a bit less than eight hours of sleep.
-
I thought it was John Hurt as well.....

Relishing the after-glow of a BLT on sourdough toast.
Luscious. Scrumptious. Hit all the right notes.

I have made to Atlanta. Of course, the connecting flight is delayed.

Hotlanta, as we call it down south.

Page two? Really? No posts for three HOURS? Really?

Rehearsal in about six minutes.

Charlie Brown is in the building!

Even more travel vibes for JohnG!

Oh, rehearsal doesn't start for another thirteen minutes.

Better than missing the flight ;)

It sounds good only I would want it with fake bacon which is pretty good.

I hope DR John has made it home by now.

I don't mind leggings on kids/teens as long as the shirt is long enough.
I know that United has very strict clothing requirements for their free passes. But they should have simply given the kids a warning. Or let them change into something from their luggage.
-
I guess they didn't have a change of clothes in their carry on bags. I am surprised the parent who got the passes didn't know better. It is a shame.
-
Home from recording. we got through more than anticipated today, so tomorrow will be an easy day. I will be heading to bed in another hour.
-
I could not find the official United website detailing the dress code. I found an article that states it:
1. The Pass Traveler Dress Code Bans ‘Form-Fitting Lycra/Spandex Tops, Pants & Dresses’
(https://heavyeditorial.files.wordpress.com/2017/03/united-airlines-dress-code.jpg)
-
This one is for Hawaiian Airlines in the main cabin. The more relaxed main cabin attire is listed at the bottom.

Good evening !
-
Thanks for the travel vibes. They worked....eventually!
-
My flight was supposed to leave at 10 am. When I got to the airport, the screen showed it was delayed 25 minutes.
-
The flight from Atlanta had been delayed (that was the plane to be used for my flight).
-
DR Ginny and Richard stopped by for a visit on their way up Tenth Avenue to the NYPL at Lincoln Center. It was nice to spend a little bit of time with them.
-
The plane arrived and the passengers boarded. After a few minutes, the captain announced that there was a ground stop and that LaGuardia was temporarily closed.
-
He said our scheduled take off time was 12:49 pm and that we were free to get off the plane if we wanted. Several people did so.
-
Then, he announced that the ground stop was cancelled and we were going to leave soon. The passengers who had gotten off the pane were summoned.
-
In the strange coincidence category, I got to the studio this morning, and met the Violin player Justin, who told me that in 2010 he'd played the violin in the performance of the Appalachian Carols that gave my collaborator the idea of a Christmas theater piece. I had actually not remembered any of the 2010 instrumentalists.
-
The band was really excellent. Three of them play in the orchestra for the Carol King show Beautiful.
-
We took off at about 11:50 am and landed at about 12:35 pm. Not too bad.

What great luck, DR KevinH!

I thought it was a transfer flight.
-

Why when flights are delayed we still go to the airport and wait. Once we got off a grounded flight until it was time to leave. We had to stay near by and not roam the airport.

Small world!

Safe travel vibes for KevinH.

I'm in San Antonio. Even though the flight was 30 minutes late in taking off, we got here before we were originally supposed to. Go figure.
-
Continued travel vibes for ALL.
Continued recording vibes for DR ELMORE.
Rehearsal vibes for MR BK & Co.

It's 81 degrees and still light out.
-
Great news on the rehearsal and instrumentalists, Elmore.

Four!

What a treat that was! We enjoyed our visit with you during the break and the 2 numbers they recorded while we were there. Glad to hear today was so productive and that tomorrow will be easier.

Good tail winds.
-
We ended up walking all the way to the library at Lincoln Center, looking for someplace to eat along the way. Nothing appealed to us and we were delighted to find an Amy's Bread kiosk right in the library. We had sandwiches and hot beverages and split a cookie. Then we picked up our free tickets to the "Broadway's Future" program and had just enough time to take a quick look at the "Curtain Up" exhibit before showtime. Tonight's showcase featured a composer/lyricist named Alan Schmuckler and several excellent singers. And the price was right - $0.00!
-
Food in the library :o
-
Library cafes are not uncommon, DR Jane, and this one has plenty of tables were you can eat. And there are NO FOOD & DRINK signs throughout the rest of the building.
-
Nice.

I do not recall why I felt I needed to read a Georges Simenon novel. I began with Pietr the Latvian (Maigret, #1). Not only did I find the book boring & slightly ridiculous I was shocked by Simenon's antisemitism. I consider myself tolerant when it comes to reading the classics, however, not so with this novel. I did a bit of research and am not surprised to read Simenon collaborated with the Nazis during the war.
-
Some of the garden is doing good, according to my friend, but the fig tree seems to have taken a beating during the three days of winter we had this year. So, I don't know if there will be figs this year -- or jam.
-
The peach tree finally seems to be coming back.
-
Gratuitous post No. 100.
-
Dear Jane, why are you reading Simenon when you could read Kimmelnon?
-
Rehearsal was grand fun - what a wild show this will be.
-
I know you know that Richard Sherman hurt his back a month ago and has been in rehab since doing it - he called me today and it was so great hearing his voice and he's in fine spirits and healing and hopes to be home in about a week-and-a-half. I cannot tell you how I love and adore this force of nature. He told me he's rereading all my books and that they're making the days go by faster and making him laugh and feel good. I can't even. The sweetest man who ever lived.
-
Watching a Woody Allen movie that everyone hated called You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger. Very ugly. Not liking it.

What a shame.

The peach tree finally seems to be coming back.
Do you like peach jam?
-
Dear Jane, why are you reading Simenon when you could read Kimmelnon?
Because, unfortunately, it came in from the library. I had a long list of books that took a long time to become available. They are all doing so at once.
-
The peach tree finally seems to be coming back.
Do you like peach jam?
I love peach jam, but the peach tree doesn't produce fruit. It's just a nice tree when it's covered in leaves.
-
Amy - Does it have to be from entirely from a musical, or just musical-related? Because the references to "Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend" that surrounded Madonna's "Material Girl" might make that an interesting medley.
Thank you, FJL! Yes, I'm looking for pop songs too, but I felt like I could come up with those myself. I was particularly stymied on songs from musicals. All suggestions are appreciated.

:-\ I've never read any of his novels...no specific reason, just never read any.

And on that note (D#), I'm leaving work. I need to do a little shopping at Fred Meyer, then I'll go home and do some laundry while I balance my checkbook. It's been a while (again). ::)
;)
-
Be back later!
-
Terrible movie.
-
Heading to bed.
-
But before I go ...
-
Let's give this page a push ...
-
... into the past.
-
Five!
-
Good night, all.
-
Spending a few hours now with a box set called New York Philharmonic: An American Celebration - all radio broadcast performances, most in archival sound - but if you love American music it's a must-have. Ten CDs (two five-CD boxes) filled to the brim with great or at least interesting music (although I'm not sure how forward I'm looking to volume two's more modern works - we shall see) - lots of Copland, a wonderful performance of Hanson's Symphony 2 with Hanson conducting, Charles Ives, Virgil Thomson, Bernstein, Diamond, Harris, Schuman, and many others. Very enjoyable. I'm on disc three at the moment.
-
It was a long day but productive. I left the office at 8:30 pm and drove to a clients house for a 9 pm closing.
-
The borrower was an attorney and since I had already provided him with a electronic version of his documents to review he signed very quickly.
-
I was home by 10
-
I was heating up some meatloaf and potatoes for my supper when vixdad arrived home
-
He hadn't eaten all day so. Gave him my dinner and then cooked another one for myself
-
And I am just finishing it now
-
It was worth the wait
-
The peach tree finally seems to be coming back.
Do you like peach jam?
I love peach jam, but the peach tree doesn't produce fruit. It's just a nice tree when it's covered in leaves.
Then I hope to see a photo.
-

Yes it is.
-
Other than the archival sound for most of the older material, these performances are pretty amazing. And there are a few things from the 80s and 90s that sound great. And the music - Barber, Copland, Rorem, Chadwick, Gershwin, Hanson, Harris, Schuman - amazing stuff. I have a lot of this stuff in other performances and great sound, but some of what I'm hearing here would have to be considered definitive.
-
And Stokowski blowing the jernt apart with sixteen brilliant minutes of Bernard Herrmann's Devil and Daniel Webster - literally the first time I've EVER really liked this music.
-
Good evening!
-
We had a semi-dry day today.
-
But the rain is back.
-
I have to keep reminding myself that I have a performance tomorrow night.
-
You would think I was going away for a month.
-
I have a million things I need to get done before I leave.
-
At least, it seems like a million things.
-
A Boy Named Charlie Brown (http://www.kritzerland.com/boy_charlie_brown.htm) has arrived in Tumwater! I'm listening to it right now and it's delightful!
-
The rain tomorrow will not be helping me get things done.
-
I have to keep reminding myself that I have a performance tomorrow night.
Break Legs, Tom!!
-
The Trip to Bountiful actually has a performance tomorrow, too. It's a bought house for some business (I never heard), and they gave away/sold the tickets for their own purposes. Someone on Saturday said that it's supposed to be a pretty full house, so hopefully they enjoy it.
-
I did get some errands done that I needed to do.
-
And I worked on my lines.
-
I have to keep reminding myself that I have a performance tomorrow night.
Break Legs, Tom!!
Thanks, George.
-
We are going to work out all the last minute details about the trip after the performance tomorrow night.
-
Has anyone heard of e-mail??
-
Page 6
-
I did get some errands done that I needed to do.
I got a load of laundry done, but I didn't balance my checkbook. Oh, well. There's always Wednesday.
-
George, please remember to record GRIMM this Friday. I believe it is the final episode.
-
George, please remember to record GRIMM this Friday. I believe it is the final episode.
I wrote myself a note and won't forget!
-
And even if I do, I can record it after the fact from Comcast's OnDemand. :)
-
And even if I do, I can record it after the fact from Comcast's OnDemand. :)
Really?
-
I assume it is the final episode. They already killed off two of the regulars last Friday.
-
And even if I do, I can record it after the fact from Comcast's OnDemand. :)
Really?
Yup. Usually, at least four episodes are available through OnDemand before they're dropped. Some channels (maybe the pay channels) have the complete multi-year series available.
-
BK, I know it's too late to fix it, but there's a typo on the back insert of the "Charlie Brown" CD case. Beethoven's name is listed as "Ludwig Von Beethoven," but it's actually "Ludwig van Beethoven." If he were still alive, I'm sure that there would be hell toupee, but he's not, so I think you're safe.
;)
-
What will they think of next?
-
16 Guests. They must be gathering for BK's notes.
