Well, you've read the notes, the notes were nice, and now it is time for you to post until the nice cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: GIMCRACK!
-
What, no one's read their book yet?
-
I gotta tell you.
-
Tell you I gotta.
-
First post after BK?
-
BK, did you see my English 101 question from the end of last night?
-
Thank you, George, for your input.
-
Nice video. Great song.
-
For today's topic, I was thinking of certain dance moments in WEST SIDE STORY, but I kept thinking about more and more moments. So, finally....
T.O.D.
WEST SIDE STORY, the film
-
Nice video. Great song.
Agreed...and a great performance, too!
-
Good night, George.
-
Good night, Tom.
-
First East coast post!
-
First HHW post about the Tar Heel victory over Gonzaga!
-
I think it is anyway!
-
Good morning, all.
-
TOD: While it's certainly not among the very best dance numbers in a major film, when I need a quick jolt of fun, "We Go Together" from the GREASE film always puts a smile on my face and a bit of joy in my heart.
-
Good morning, all!
-
TOD:
Dancing in the Dark from The Band Wagon
Begin the Beguine from Broadway Melody of 1940
The title number of Singin' in the Rain
The opening of West Side Story
Chattanooga Choo Choo from Sun Valley Serenade (or just about any number the Nicholas Brothers ever filmed)
Don't Say Goodnight from Wonder Bar
I'm sure there will be more
-
I am ready to meet my barber at 10:00. Then a trip to City Center.
-
TOD:
Any Fred Astaire-Ginger Rogers number
The Barn Raising from Seven Brides for Seven Brothers
Step in Time from Mary Poppins
The Sadie Hawkins Day ballet from Li'l Abner
The Small House of Uncle Thomas from The King & I
-
Good morning, all.
-
Lovely video of a beautiful song.
-
This is a day in which various and sundry music will get practiced.
And then (because I know you've all been waiting to hear this).....it's back to auditions tonight.
-
good morning to all
-
Great video!
DR TCB - I agree with DR GEORGE that the one with the ? is correct.
-
TOD:
Pick Yourself Up - Fred & Ginger
The Challenge Dance & Barn Raising - 7B for 7B
America & Cool & Dance at the Gym - West Side Story
Get Over It - opening number - it's not GREAT dancing, but it's fun to watch and pretty unexpected.

Let's start Page 2 off with a little story, shall we?
-
My eyes have been going through one of those itchy spells, and I'm the worst with that because I get into rubbing them to satisfy the itch, and can't stop, which extends the recovery time another day...and so it goes. So this morning I decided to exercise the necessary self control AND give them a little head start relief with some Visine. First I snorted some Flonase which can help the eyes as well as the nasal passages, and I pressed a hot washcloth over my eyes, followed by a cold one, because that can sooth and refresh them. Finally, a few drops of Visine and a short resting period.
And all of that worked pretty well. But an hour later I felt the Visine was less effective than in the past, so I hit the more irritated eye with another few drops -- and since it had been around for a while, I figured the solution could be weak and should be replaced. I knew I'd bought this bottle two or three years ago, but it definitely had been more effective. So, do they date these things? I didn't see it at first, but there it was -- the dating kind of blended in with the rest of the label, and I held it close to my eyes to be sure I was reading it right.

Tuesday morning greetings! This is the first morning in a long time that I haven't had to be up and dressed at a specific time. Not that I don't have anything to do, but no appointments or anything today.
-
So far, I've had breakfast and read the paper and Richard and I finally dealt with the box from Wayfair that arrived the day we got home from New York. It contains what's supposed to become a new chest of drawers for our bathroom, but the box was smashed and torn on one end and the packing material was oozing out. After taking photos of all that, we opened that end and some pieces of the item and hardware fell out. So, I've filed a complaint online and documented it with 7 photos and asked to return it for a refund. Now we wait...
-
Good morning.
-
I am making whoopie pies.
-
TOD 2:
Fred Astaire with fireworks in Holiday Inn
Nina in The Pirate
Gregory Hines' solo in The Cotton Club
Let's Misbehave in Pennies from Heaven
From This Moment On in Kiss Me, Kate
-
I can't wait to get these stitches out tomorrow. A bunch of them came out already; some are dangling there driving me nuts.
-
DR TCB I am glad you added "Oh, I forgot, Betzy flat-out loved the book". :)
-
I would include the question mark, but then I am not an expert.
-
I can't wait to get these stitches out tomorrow. A bunch of them came out already; some are dangling there driving me nuts.
Annoying for sure :)
-
In this household we can relate to itch eyes. I use either Alaway Eye Itch Relief or Opcon-A. Nothing really works, or lasts for long.
-
DR George I am pleased to say I found your key chain. Of course it was where I had thought I put it, however, it had slipped inside of a piece of paper. ;D

For a second before I read the post, I was going to say what a great Modern Art photo that was.
Hope getting the complaint in goes smoothly.

TCB, use the question mark, not the comma.

I am home from a lovely visit with Joshie. We had to discuss our union payments for The New Yorkers. Next Thursday and Friday we have the orchestra reading of The Golden Apple, and he is busy taping orchestra parts. When I felt I'd been in the way long enough, I decided to leave him in peace.
-
I'm up, I'm up - nine hours of sleep, which I really needed.
-
"Would you like cream in your coffee?" asked the waitress.
That one is correct.
-
A lull. ::)

While looking for those dance videos, going from video to video after that, I found this clip of Alice Ripley and Lea DeLaria singing "I'm Past My Prime" from a concert version of Li'l Abner:

The video was just posted back in January, but it was from 1998.

Oh....Holiday Inn has been mentioned. How could I forget this?
"You're So Easy to Dance With" - I can't seem to find a video for this number....with Virginia Dale....but it's a honey!

Just released: Rockabye Baby: Lullaby Renditions of Songs from Hamilton.

Thanks, DRs FJL, George, and JRand for the encouragement regarding my Wayfair dispute. I've received notice that my account will be credited and have been directed to "donate or dispose of" the item. We won't do anything with it until I have proof of the refund.

That's the dreadful Encores! production. The scariest part was the gaunt, antique, mummified Julie Newman redoing her Stupefyin' Jones and looking god-awful.

Jrand's beautiful review must be read by one and all as well as all and one. I got emotional just reading it.

THRILL RIDE has arrived in our apartment!
I think it may have been at the package place yesterday. The extras are indeed captivating and intriguing.

Well, read it - hopefully that will be captivating and intriguing too :)

I got a special treat in the mail today, a new Anthony Trollope novel. It's actually the last of the Pallisers novels, but when it was originally published, they cut half of the manuscript out. The restored, full-length version is now in print. I just need to finish Proust now before I can get to the Trollope. I'm less than 40 pages from the end of Vol. 5, The Prisoner. Only two more volumes to go.
-
I'm also more than halfway through listening to Bruce Springsteen read his autobiography. Wonderful.

Congrats on the new acquisition, John. I've never read any Anthony Trollope novel (nor any Proust), but I did find THIS (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2836225/Anthony-Trollope-s-final-Palliser-novel-set-revealed.html) article from 2014 about the publication of the restored version. It all sounds pretty interesting.

Starting The Fantasticks. There is only one version on the disc, so I don't think this is the director's cut.

I think that first Folio edition cost more than $200, so I couldn't afford it.

Be back later.

Keith wants to know if it is vanilla ice cream with cherries and chunks of chocolate chips or cherry flavored ice cream.

More like the latter, I think, although maybe not. It's just really good and I eat too damn much of it. I want more and I've already had three scoops.

I began to post this earlier and had to rush off of the computer and then forgot to do so. Thanks for the reminder.

He would like vanilla with the additions but not cherry flavored. Maybe when we are in L.A. next he will want to stop for a cone. Are they still cylinder shaped?

You did not comment when I mentioned going for our reunion.

DR Jeanne would have notice but alas she was out with her back problem.

CONTINUED HEALING VIBES FOR DR JEANNE!

AND FOR DR DRUXY.

I'll go to your reunion, too.

I do think it's vanilla with cherries and chips mostly, perhaps with just a bit of pink. I've never had an actual cone so I don't know what they do there. But you can come here and try it.

And Jane, thank you for doing the Goodreads thing.

Good evening!
-
I am very sore tonight.
-
Maybe it is the change in the weather.
-
i have just taken my pain pills, so hopefully they will kick in soon.

Weather-wise, this is not the start of Spring I had been hoping for this year.

Nicky is not sneezing as much today as he did the last two days.
-
Poor little guy, he didn't know what to do about those sneezes.
-
Before this week, he had maybe sneezed three or four times in his life.
-
At least, during his life with me.

Having some late night popcorn. Why not?
