Well, you've read the notes, the notes became a legend, and now it is time for you to post until the legendary cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: OXYMORON!
-
First post after BK!
-
I once dated a guy named Oxy who was a real... Oh, never mind.
-
My favorite oxymoron is (naturally, food related) jumbo shrimp.

Well, good night.
-
Good night, Tom.
-
Well, today is the final performance of The Trip to Bountiful. After the show we have strike, although the house will be taken apart on Monday, so it's mostly costumes and props. After strike, the director is taking everyone out to dinner to a local restaurant! Cool!
-
Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning to all.
-
I wonder if 13 years ago I mentioned that the actor is LIEV Schreiber and not LIVE Schreiber.
-
Jane - thanks for what you said last night.
Yes, it's so great not to have that stuff come up on google the way it did!
-
BK, thank you for sharing your thoughts, too. Much appreciated!
-
I hated the remake of THE MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE.
I just read somewhere that they are going to remake JAWS.
Why can't these idiots leave well enough alone?
-
Good morning, all.
-
I remember thoroughly disliking the Manchurian Candidate remake so much I can honestly say I see no reason to renew the acquaintance.
-
Yesterday was long. Left the house by 6:30 am and didn't return until 1 am. Lots of dancing but it could have been more. If only I had filled out the entry form. We didn't dance what we'd been working on and danced stuff I hadn't practiced in months.
-
And so it goes. Fun day, though.
-
Good morning, all.
-
I know I rented that "remake" way back when, and watched it, but I remember nothing at all about the movie. We'll just leave it that way.
-
We get our Fahrenheit 60 today. Whoop de do. Then tomorrow and Tuesday will be in the 70s, nearly reaching 80 on Tuesday. The place is going to feel like a different planet.
-
Today's matinee is the first Jesus Christ Superstar I'm playing. I'll be going over early to run through the keyboard patches and then meet with the MD who will go over key points with me. He's good, and it's not key points I'm worried about; rather, just making sure the crazy annotated book and the keyboard stuff itself finally makes sense to me after my editing/remarking of the copy they gave me -- and thank God for that copy.
-
I hope the rest of vixmom's weekend has gone splendidly.
Vibes to all for a very pleasant Sunday.
-
Sunday!
Today is Audition Day for the Show - I wish I felt better.....and I wish I knew how things were going to go. AND I wish that everyone who comes to audition didn't bring along a friend or two who takes up space in what is already a limited area. We are having auditions in the Rehearsal Center because the theater will probably be too cold. There is no heat in the auditorium and even at 74 degrees outside, it's still too cold to sit in there.
-
I also hate the remake of THE MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE - a lot! One of the most stupid "updates" in addition to those mentioned by MR BK is that they gave Mrs. Iselin a first name - Eleanor.... Back in the day when IMDB still had a comments section, people would write there on the original version's page about how Angela Lansbury played "Eleanor Iselin".....no, she didn't, she played Mrs. Iselin.....
And Streep trying to channel HRC was ridiculous....

Although I doubt even HRC would wear those earrings with that necklace.....
-
Good morning, all!

Another quiet day. Tomorrow my life picks up again.
-
Good morning!

Time to get Jesus into Jerusalem with a little re-written "Hosanna" ala ALW!
I live on the edge
-
Yay to life on the edge.
-
Played bells this morning. Hadn't rehearsed but thankfully the piece wasn't complicated and my notes were in an easy rhythm to pick up.
-
We haven't had a minister in about a year and we no longer have a full-time music director--and our music program has suffered because of a lack of a guiding hand. But my fellow bell ringers have kept the group going without a director. We count off and listen and play together very well. Best of all, the congregation loves it.
I'm sure we'd like to practice something more challenging but that's beside the point at this time.
-
According to Bruce Springsteen, his wife, Patti Scialfa, went to the University of Miami.
I've reached an odd point in the book where the Springsteens are at Frank Sinatra's 80th birthday party with Steve and Eydie and Bob Dylan.

-
Good Morning to all on this beautiful day!
-
I'm up, I'm up - a little under seven hours because I was up for an hour at seven-thirty.
-
Meryl Streep - here performance in Manchurian is a real misfire, I thought - and the big scene, which is chilling in the original film, the one where she delivers her monologue and then kisses her son in a perhaps less than appropriate way, is completely blown in the remake - they took the guts out of the monologue and she doesn't actually kiss him here - she moves in and it cuts away.
-
No posts in - TWO HOURS?
-
Gettin' a little rank around here, if you ask me.
-
Had two low-cal tortillas with scrambled eggs - very calorie friendly and that's all I'm eatin' today save for my daily dose of cherry chip low-cal ice cream.
-
Page two? Really?
-
So far as I can tell, exactly six people here have read the new book - vixmom, George, JohnG., ChasSmith, jrand, and Jane. Am I missing anyone? So, everyone else just has it on their nightstand or table?
-
Off to auditions.....
I may be back.....
~~~Break Legs Audition Vibes for Jrand!!~~~
-
The final performance of The Trip to Bountiful is going well. :)
-
There's almost a full house!
-
It's a good way to end the show.
-
I'm sure that the rest of the performance will go well, to.
-
Be back later!
-
Hello!
-
It's a beautiful in the nation's capital and environs.
-
I meant to mention that I will be a great uncle (for the third time) and DR Kate will be a grandmother (for the first time)!
-
I saw The Manchurian Candidate many years ago. I just checked Netflix to see if they had it and wouldn't you know, only the remake is available.
-
Page 3!
-
And I am back from a very good show, if I say so myself. Everyone was happy, most of all the MD, so I am happy.
Back to it in two weeks for their closing weekend.
-
I meant to mention that I will be a great uncle (for the third time) and DR Kate will be a grandmother (for the first time)!
Congrats to you and to Kate!!
I bought the Criterion edition of the original version during a Criterion half-price sale last year. I'd never even consider getting the remake. :P
-
I gotta tell you.
-
Listening to music, but will go sit on the couch like so much fish shortly.
-
It's on Skip's nightstand as we speak. I think it's next on his reading pile after he finishes the current one.
-
What are you, chopped liver? YOU read it.
-
Closing day vibes and free dinner vibes for DR GEORGE.
Congrats DR CHAS SMITH on a job well done.
I had 11 people at auditions, and I can use them all.....and hearing some of the script read out loud was nice. And the dance turned out well.
So on to tomorrow night.....but first THE NEW DOCTOR in the morning....hopefully he can point me in a good direction and give me some help with las problemas.
-
I meant to mention that I will be a great uncle (for the third time) and DR Kate will be a grandmother (for the first time)!
Congrats to you and to Kate!!
Thanks, DR George!
-
Jane, Norwegian Cruise Lines no longer has a ship called the Sea. Your friend must have misunderstood the name of the ship on which she is sailing.
My mistake, it is Norwegian Sun. :-[ ;D
-
I meant to mention that I will be a great uncle (for the third time) and DR Kate will be a grandmother (for the first time)!
Congratulation to you both, especially to DR Kate.
-
I am deep in the art of taxes.
Congratulation to you both, especially to DR Kate.
Thanks, DR Jane!
-
Congrats to Kate and great-uncle Kevin.
Thanks, DR FJL!
-
Bruce it boggles my mind you would even watch the remake of The Manchurian Candidate again. Did you forget how much you disliked it?
-
The other night we watched PATERSON. The more we think of it the more we both wished we had not wasted out time. Our reaction does not match the high reviews this film received.
-
Sunday evening greetings! My full social Saturday, plus a nice Palm Sunday with Richard, finally caught up with me about 4pm and I slept for a couple of hours. We had a delightful time last night at the historical society dinner, seated at the symphony table with the president of the board and his wife and the conductor and his wife.
-
Thanks DR JANE - fingers crossed.
Congrats to DR KEVINH and DR KATE.
-
DR Elmore, Carmon sends his regards!
-
We attended the church that Richard likes more than I do and I caught a glimpse of the vestry president's attendance tally. There were a few visitors, 4 clergy, 46 adults, and 31 - count 'em, 31 - children. The kids all stay for the entire service and they were all torqued up today. It was very distracting.
-
DR KevinH, great nieces and nephews are the best! Congratulations to you and to DR Kate on her impending grandmotherhood!
-
And we are home
-
We had a lot of fun
-
Good evening.
-
We entered the masquerade contest
Congratulations, DR Vixmom and Vixdad!
-
They also had a game room too where they had a huge number of games to play. We played a few board games including one that was being demoed by the creator
-
That was so much fun we bought it
-
They also had a promotion where the game manufactures had donated games and if you played a game you got a raffle ticket to win a new version of it
-
Between Vixdad and myself we had 5 raffle tickets
-
All five were drawn so we ended up with five new games
-
Congratulations times 6 :)
-
Great photos DR Vixmom!
-
We watched a showing of Little Shop of Horrors (the Rick Moranis musical version with the happy ending) that had a "shadow cast " that was fun
-
There was a art show with beautiful paintings and sculptures , pottery and jewelry
-
Saturday we decided to drive into town for brunch
-
http://www.sweetgrassgrill.com/menu-brunch/
-
I had the quinoa sweet potato Benedict
-
Did I even order the book??
-
Instead of an English muffin and Canadian bacon there was a patty made of quinoa with roasted kale,the poached eggs sets top by the traditional hollandaise untarnished with ill whole pink peppercorns
-
The hash browns were sweet potato,carrot, onion, tomato,and tricolored peppers
-
I really enjoyed it
-
Much to my surprise
-
I didn't understand what is was from the description on the menu
-
Great photos DR Vixmom!
Thank you
-
Vixdad also had several of his Ben Bova books signed and we were able to attend three talks, and a Q and A with Mr Bova.
-
Hello, everyone.
-
vibes to Jrand for a good doctor's visit. I hope you like the new doctor and you are helped PRONTO!
-
Congrats to Vixmom and Vixdad!
-
The peppercorns were ill? How could you tell?
A quinoa patty. How interesting!
-
I've never heard of sweet potato hash browns. Would love to try them.
-
I'm always pleased when Vixmom is able to take some time off, and even more so when she's able to go someplace fun.
-
I had a quiet, relaxing day, which is what I usually need on Sundays.
-
Time for dinner. Nothing exotic, just a simple bowl of split pea soup and maybe a salad.
TTFN.
-
Sounds good except if green peppers were included. In fact your entire weekend sounds very nice.
-
Vixdad also had several of his Ben Bova books signed and we were able to attend three talks, and a Q and A with Mr Bova.
I have not read any of his books. Have you?
-
Same here :)
The peppercorns were ill? How could you tell?
They were coughing
-
Actually the correct word should have been "mild"
-
Oh I forgot to mention the slices of avocado
-
Congratulations to Kate and to KevinH. Great news.
-
And congratulations to the Vixfamily in mufti.
-
Just ushered for the tour of Hedwig and the Angry Inch with Euan Morton in the title role. He was excellent and the audience, on the smallish size, was ecstatic.
-
Of course, BK recorded Euan with Sandy Bainum on her Christmas CD.
-
I also remember him from Sondheim on Sondheim and both versions of Taboo.
-
Had brunch earlier with friends. Had a wonderful but weird version of chicken and waffles. The buttermilk fried chicken was only lightly fried but the meat was moist and tender. The waffles were actually mac and cheese crisped up in a waffle maker. The waffles were topped with a spicy syrup, so you got the requisite sweet and hot that better versions of the dish have.
-
I missed Kevin and Kate's news. Congratulations uncle and Grandma
-
Jane, I did remember how much I hated the remake, but sometimes time is kind to films and they somehow age better - that's happened several times - this was not one of them.
-
The set for Hedwig was the supposedly leftover set of "Hurt Locker: The Musical," a 6 hour 4 minute production from Tony Kushner, among others. There was a fake Playbill and about 300 were spread around the theater. It was a hoot. The stars were Bobby Canavale, Taye Diggs and Michael Cerveris, all sort of apologizing for being in the show in their bios. In the list of other shows playing, there was one called Hamilton! that was about skater Scott Hamilton. There was also Container Store: The Musical.
-
That sounds like a lot of fun, John.
Good night, all.
-
I have no idea how I did that
-
Well guess I should go to bed
-
Closing day vibes and free dinner vibes for DR GEORGE.
Thanks, Jrand! The final performance went really well and the burger that I got was very good, too. We went to a place called Oly Rockfish Grill, and it just got new owners a few months ago.
That is true though, as in this case, I often find it to be the opposite.
It was a nice day today.
And I filed my income tax return.
I certainly hope that Credit Karma's tax prep is accurate.
-
I didn't expect to get a refund.
-
Hopefully I won't end up in prison.
We became a B'way World exclusive after Taxi Driver.
One of these days we'll get around to season three.
