Well, you've read the notes, the notes waxed and waned and were a parade, and now it is time for you to post until the waxing and waning cows come home.

Well, tonight I'm going to audition for a local production of Hairspray.  I haven't been in a "regular" musical in quite a few years.  The last actual musical that I was in was Cannibal! The Musical! in 2011.  I hope I at least don't embarrass myself. ::)

I'd been relying on a muscle relaxer again to help me sleep, so I decided last night to stop using it.  As a result I was wide awake until 3:30 in the morning.  I fell asleep some time after that and had a strange dream that seemed to be in Russia around the first world war. Christopher Lee's Dracula was also in the dream, and there was something bizarre about a lion on the loose.

DR ChasSmith, about that old Italian song situation:  is there a piano reduction of the three sets of Respighi's wonderful Ancient Airs and Dances

Do you have a recording that lists the sources for the material used in the suite?

I am breaking the script up to make a rehearsal schedule.....with ALL the conflicts, it's not easy....UGH

And the script isn't exactly divided up into scenes, so I have to go by page numbers and songs.....this MAY be the last musical I want to direct......of course I always say that.

This week's episode seemed a bit flat to me - but that might be because of the DRAMA last week.....still two episodes to go.

My last dream was something about a mine that was being dug, a killer of women working on a beauty shop, cherry pie, a cello, and Angela Lansbury.

Tax-o-matic 1040 says it means you'll strike gold working on a musical version of Murder She Wrote, or alternatively an Agatha Christie or Miss Marple work of some sort.   The weapon in the plot will be a cherry pie.  Tax-o-matic doesn't know what the cello means.

I had a dream last night where I went to Japan to do something.  I'm not clear on what that something was, but I know I didn't want to be there.  I finally decided I was going to leave, and I was talked into staying.  Ironically, one of the people in my group decided to leave before me and left a trinket in a bowl of candy which turned out to be a mini-fire bomb of some sort.  I ended up at a trade show where I was in demand for writing corny commercials for different vendors.

Thank goodness the alarm went off -- you really can't make this stuff up!

I admit I've seen very few old movies. I think I saw "All About Eve" and that's it for Betty Davis movies and I've never seen Joan Crawford in anything. But I'm absolutely LOVING "Feud." It's just so splendidly written and Susan Sarandon is so terrific in it. And the whole thing has made me very curious about "Whatever Happened to Baby Jane" and now I feel like I should see it.

Here's a thing:

A few weeks ago, I used TurboTax for my federal/state taxes.  Have been using TurboTax the past 8 years.

When all was done, I had TurboTax "e-file" my returns.   I didn't give it another thought for 24 hours.  That's when I discovered e-mails telling me my returns had been 'rejected'.  The cause given:  Someone had already e-filed taxes under my name and SSN.

A few days later, I discovered a letter from the IRS that I had overlooked and put down.  It informed me of this filing which IRS thought looked suspicious since it didn't resemble past years' e-filings.  I called them, verified my identity by citing facts from my previous filing.

They advised me to print out my e-filed returns, sign them, attach payments, W-2s and 1009s to them and mail them in.  They rejected the earlier fake submission, but I would not be able to e-file for the past year's taxes.  This is, apparently, a huge problem in the IRS this year.   It may have evolved from the Google breach of security last year in which tons of personal data was stolen electronically.

I immediately subscribed to LifeLock which, I'm happy to say, showed no further attempts to forge my identity.  I've changed ALL my passwords, as well.

It's always SOMETHING, isn't it!

Well, there really are only four adult male roles in the show:  Edna Turnblad (who is pre-cast), Wilbur Turnblad, Mr. Pinky (and others), and Corny Collins.  I'm not right for Corny, at all, so either Wilbur or the Mr. Pinky track would be it.

This was actually an enjoyable four hours of it, especially following on the heels of the three days of HELL of it last week.

Tuesday afternoon greetings!  Rob and I had to be at the book sale site at 9am today to help vacate the venue.  They really needed my voluminous vehicle and Rob's muscle; I helped pack up a bit and mostly provided moral support.  We were home in time for lunch, so Rob went out to get Chinese food for us and crashed for a nap.  I, on the other hand, tore apart my art corner to incorporate a new storage rack that they'd used this year for cassettes and were going to send to Goodwill.  It works perfectly for my stamp ink pads and there's plenty of room to grow my collection!

Must have been the night/morning for weird dreams.  My alarm was set for 7, but I got up at 6:30 thankful to be out of a dream in which I was late for a class.  I couldn't get to where I'd left my textbook that we were going to need for an open-book quiz.  The elevators weren't running properly, some guy tried to chat me up, and I had to call on my (former) best friend with whom I had a bad falling out about 20 years ago.  When I woke up half an hour before necessary, I was glad to be awake and went ahead and got up.

Loved the extensive ruminations on Baby Jane, et al. in the notes.  What a landmark movie.  I remember reading the movie tie-in paperback and getting freaked out by it before seeing the movie, and the movie itself really freaked me out.  I loved it then and I love it now.  And I love Charlotte almost as much.  I don't know much about Robert Aldrich, and I have no idea how faithful to any known truths Feud is regarding him, but what a genius moment in film history was Baby Jane

Y'all can add my dreams (two whole sets of them, both before and after a 3:30 a.m. bathroom break) to everyone else's complex and bizarre ones from last night.

Relating them here wouldn't even make as much sense as the ones already described, but they were doozies.

I also have to say, regarding Aldrich, Davis, & Crawford, that through Feud, as over the top that it is (if indeed it really is over the top, who am I to say?), I have come to admire both of these women more than ever.  Especially Davis, no question about it, right up to the end.  But both of them.  This li'l mini-series has opened my eyes to much more than I ever knew I wanted to dig into.

Ron, how frightening! But it's better to know sooner than later. I never would have thought that finding out that someone's trying to steal your identity would show up this way.

Vibes it didn't go any further and you have no more problems because of it.

 :) A guest appearance by Yo-yo Ma?

DR Ron thank goodness the IRS was also looking out for you and corrected the problem.

They told me this was a program they were forced to put together over the past two years and this year was the first full implementation.

Identity theft isn't new. Given how much of it there is--and how horribly it can mess up your life--I really feel that some sort of cross-check measures should have been put into place many years ago. It protects the IRS as well.

Sorry to read that Linda Hopkins died. Loved her in Black and Blue.

She was also great on the recording of Bessie and Me as well as that great opening scene of Purlie when she blasted Walk Him Up the Stairs at full volume.

Just finishing up Chasing Amy. The movie is more powerful than I remembered it being. Also, the scene in which Silent Bob breaks his silence and talks about wanting to be a dancer in Vegas, complete with hand gestures out of Showgirls, had me in tears I was laughing so hard.

Well, the Hairspray audition went quite well.  I was the only adult male tonight.  There was one adult female.  She was African American and had a great voice.  The rest were kids.  There were about eight or ten of them.  None of the kids tonight had "theater" voices. ::)

Evidently, more people auditioned last night, so there is some competition for Wilber and Mr. Pinky.  When I left, the director gave me a big hug (we've known each other for more than 25 years) and she said that I killed it and (quietly to me) "of course, you're cast." ;D But of course, I don't know which role, yet.  She said that they'll make decisions and contact people by the end of the week.

One if my errands last night was picking up the tickets to the show. It turns out that on Tuesdays all shows are $8.50 and they now have luxurious wide recliners and reserved seating

Church choir rehearsal lately is like the movie "50 First Dates" where it's the same music with the same people always having to go over the same sections and remind them of the same "Road map".  I'm so over this.... 5 days until I leave for NYC.

The movie theater in the mall on the west side of Olympia converted to the reserved recliners last year.  They also have Tuesday night be cheap movie night.  I always forget that, though.
