Well, you've read the notes, the notes were cast, and now it is time for you to post until the cast cows come home.

I was told that last night's final performance of 1984 went quite well.  There were a few empty seats, but it was otherwise mostly full.  It was a great way to end the run!  The next show that TAO will be doing is 5 Lesbians Eating a Quiche. :D

The fund raising event where I ushered went really well, too.  The WCPA Black Box had 110 seats set up and it was almost filled, too!  The audience seemed to really enjoy it.

After the Black Box show, I went to where 1984 performed and picked up my tablet, the till, the recycling, the candy bars from concessions and put them in my car since I keep them (and empty the recycling bin) when TAO doesn't have a show running.

I was hungry, so I went to Applebee's for a light late dinner.  I brought my Kindle and continued reading 1984.  I still have a long way to go.  I came home and that's where I am, of course.

Today, the family is getting together to have dinner.  Only my dad actually celebrates Easter for religious reasons.  Otherwise, we're going to celebrate my niece's birthday, which is actually on Monday.

Made it to church on time. We had a surprise. One of the college kids, who's studying trumpet formed a brass quartet with college mates, and they did some excellent work.

I am happy for you.

I remember thinking our marrionberries were gone and my joy at finding they returned the following year.   Sadly that was our last crop worth eating but it was one more year than I expected.

I slept poorly, and finally got out of bed 90 minutes ago.  Since then, I have been dealing with laundry, market, bath, and a recalcitrant elevator. When it sticks between 2 and 3, I have to walk to the first floor, call it back down and ride up to 3.  This is bullshit.

And . . .

To those who observe it, a very Happy Easter!

It's my least favorite holiday in the Christian calendar, and I've disliked it since I was a child.  I guess I'm really a pagan.

Our church does not have a sunrise service but we started 15 minutes early today so there would be time for the string choir, bell choir, brass choir and adult traditional choir to each do a preamble plus hymns during the service

That's because you're a wonderful, generous Christian woman, DR vixmom!  To me it's all S&M mythology combining myths about the return of spring with torture and crucifixion.  I don't believe the Christmas miracles either, but I love Christmas and the music!

Easter afternoon greetings!  We are back from Lima, where Fr. Richard conducted what was probably the final mass in that building.  The dwindling congregation has sold the property and the future of the parish is uncertain.  There will be a Saturday deconsecration service some time after the real estate closing.  It was a bittersweet Easter celebration, to say the least.

Back from LaGuardia and picking up the friend I'd dropped off there the other day.

They're in the process of knocking down and rebuilding the entire airport, except for the new control tower which went up in 2011, and the construction is proceeding so fast I could swear there were discernible differences between Thursday and today.

My mother, at my request, took me to an Easter service at the beautiful Presbyterian church near us.  We both enjoyed the music very much.  The church had a wonderful choir.  As lovely as the service was I decided I wanted to continue being Reform Jewish.

My worst Easter was a folk mass in Pittsburgh, 1972. Easter music is bad enough, but the Catholics did no one any favors with the folk mass. I'd rather be at Godspell!

Finished with the In-Laws and now am watching it again with director Arthur Hiller, writer Andrew Bergman, and stars Alan Arkin and Peter Falk reminiscing about the movie.

Interesting tidbit: Marlon Brandon was such a fan of the movie that he watched it about 20 times. It was because of the In-Laws that he agreed to do The Freshman, which is another favorite.

We have been to Italy but never the Amalfi Coast or Rome.  The Berne see Mt Dog Club is having their yearly gathering in Portland and I had been looking forward to meeting a lot of Facebook friends in person and seeing others I know.  Keith wanted to go to Italy for his birthday.   Who am I to argue with that ;)

The ham was good, but I would have  preferred a good burger or a hot dog.

Post by: vixmom on April 16, 2017, 10:57:40 PM
The mushroom got added to the pan and as they cooked fish I added more until they were all in there , then I added the rest of the stick of butter and sherry

Then that all simmered for a couple of hours.  Just before we were ready to head over to my brothers for dinner I put the mushrooms in a big Pyrex casserole dish then thickened the pan juices with a little cornstarch mixture and outed that over the mushrooms.

I went to Jerry's - ten-fifteen - the take-out counter was jammed.  Sorry, what in HELL is going on with people.  JAMMED at ten-fifteen.  It took twenty minutes to get my turkey sandwich.  I brought it home and ate it - it was good.

I cheated big time on the second dish I was  instructed to bring... Mashed potatoes.  I bought the ready made ones from BJs. Heated three package of  them in the microwave , put that in another Pyrex serving dish, mixed in a generous amount of onion butter and then sprinkled a little paprika on top

The Easter dinner was the usual 4 westies  running around trying to trip everyone, the SILs family all screaming at the top of their lungs about politics (which is really interesting because they all agree with each other) the  TV blasting TMC trying to drown out the SILs family voices....

But the meal was good

The rest of the meal was turkey, three kinds of stuffing, baked sweet potatoes, that green bean with mushroom soup and fried onions on top thing that always shows up , cauliflower casserole, puff pastry  triangles with the spinach ricotta filling I can think what they're called but I don't eat them or the green bean casserole thing or the stuffings

My SILs BIL is Muslim and they cook a halal version for him, they make one version with pork sausage in it and one version with cranberries and apples

I don't know exactly, but you start with frozen hash browns and then add onions and (I think) some kind of cream soup, and maybe cheese.
