What are you doing for your birthday, George?
-
What are you doing for your birthday, George?
For lunch, I'll go to either El Sarapé or Plaza Jalisco (they're both within a couple of miles from where I work), and after work, the family will meet at my sister's for pizza and Chocolate Lush and who knows what else. Simple, but delish!
-
Will your co-workers be taking you to lunch, or don't you do that type of thing at the library?
-
Will your co-workers be taking you to lunch, or don't you do that type of thing at the library?
We sometimes do that. I'm not expecting that anyone will pay for my lunch, but I wouldn't refuse. :)
-
Is Plaza Jalisco a Mexican restaurant?

Is Plaza Jalisco a Mexican restaurant?
Yes it is. HERE (https://www.allmenus.com/wa/olympia/45450-plaza-jalisco/menu/) is the menu.

Well, Tom, I hate to say it (no, I really do!), but I need to get some sleep.
Good night and have a good day.

Good night, George. Have a great birthday.

More and more healthy vibes to Jrand!
-
Happy Birthday to DR GEORGE!!!
-
Thanks to all for the vibes - they are MOST appreciated I must say.
Today I see the internist I guess, it's hard to tell what's happening from the paper I have. Hopefully it won't be too LONG a meeting.
DR JEANNE they say 4 - 5 days so we shall see.
-
The two things that bothered me MOST about FEUD was the moving up in time of the Joan/Marilyn Photoplay kerfuffle.....and the use of movie marquees for Broadway shows.
-
Good morning, all!
-
Today is the sitzprobe for The Golden Apple. I am looking forward to hearing the cast.
-
I had too many bizarre dreams, something in Tudor England and several I know longer remember.
-
Today is my brother Randy's back surgery. I hope it all goes well.
-
DR JRand66, good vibes for your appointment today!

Today is my brother Randy's back surgery. I hope it all goes well.
VIBES FOR RANDY THE SURGERY IS SUCCESSFUL!
Thanks, Nursie! He really needs this procedure to be successful. JoAnn's going to text me when it's over.
-
Should he have immediate relief or will there be pain first while he recovers?
-
Should he have immediate relief or will there be pain first while he recovers?
I have no idea! This territory is new to me. I know that he will have to go into physical therapy at some point and he will be unable to lift anything for six weeks. Jo's taking all of next week off from work to be with him.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Happy birthday, George!

Surgery vibes for Randy. Pre-op vibes for JRand.

Good morning to all

Happy birthday to George

Successful back surgery to Elmoore's brother
-
Elmoore how much is that sock puller working for you if you got it yet?
-
I am convinced that Elmoore has lived another or several past lives with all the historical dreams he's had these past few days. He's just remembering them 😉😄😜
-
My Internet is down so I'm doing this via my phone
-
Elmoore how much is that sock puller working for you if you got it yet?
It's so simple to use and does an amazing job. It has become my new best friend! I cannot thank you enough for bringing it to my intention.
-
I am convinced that Elmoore has lived another or several past lives with all the historical dreams he's had these past few days. He's just remembering them 😉😄😜
I was once told by a psychic that I had a very old soul. Don't even get me started on the holocaust nightmares I had as a kid. When I was born in 1946, there were a lot of murdered souls waiting for rebirth.
-
Good morning, all.
-
The crazy dreams continue here, too, but by now the only takeaway from last night's anthology is a repetitious one having to do with harp patches in The Little Mermaid.
-
Happy Birthday, DR George!
-
Pre-op and op VIBES to DR Jrand66 and DB Randy!
-
Thanks all, the consultation was very good - I am reassured about a few things and a few other things are clearer to me.....

Surgery vibes for RANDY.

Happy Birthday DR George!
Hope you have a great day!

I'm up, I'm up - barely - maybe six hours of sleep - not enough.

Big Little Mermaid survival vibes for ChasSmith

Most excellent news.

Happy Cinco de Mayo to all.
-
Wednesday was a particularly odd day for me.
I was feeling some pressure in my chest and between my shoulder blades.
I worried it was heart-related. So, at noonish, I went to the local Kaiser emergency department.
They ran lots of tests and gave me a nitro pill to see if it alleviated the pressure. It did. It was quite effective.
I had to stay overnight because they ordered a nuclear stress test and I had to be caffeine-free for 12 hours. I'd had a cup of coffee at 7:15 a.m., and the clinic that conducts the tests closed at 6 p.m.
I spent the night in "D-Pod"...a holding area for non-admitted patients. Supper was good. I had TV. But the bed wasn't the most comfy. They gave me a melatonin tablet which helped me sleep. And in the early a.m. (6-ish) I told my RN that the chest pressure had returned. I was given another nitro tablet which seemed to induce a bit of euphoria. But I was able to sleep another 90 minutes.
I was taken to nuclear medicine at 8:30 a.m. and breezed through it (all two hours of it). End results: I'm medically sound and fine. No heart issues of any kind. All lab work was positive for my glowing health. No prescription for anything. If they had detected a weakening of my heart, I'd have at least been prescribed nitro tablets. Oh, well.
Did I think, perhaps, something else might have caused my chest pressure? Anxiety, perhaps? Stress?
Hmmmm. I concede it's possible.
Well, if I want something for THAT, I'd have to see my doctor.
Sheesh.
Oh, well.
-
I have decided (I think) to move my retirement date up one month to the end of July vice the end of August. That will give me one full month to take care of all that needs taking care of without work getting in my way.
Who knows, maybe it will be the best thing to ever happen to me!

I have nothing of interest to report. Except I made a quick video "trailer" as an example for my 4th graders who are learning how to use iMovie. Check it out HERE (https://youtu.be/7mz1ZCkyNc4)

On Wednesday I got a ticket for Hello,Dolly, after waiting in the cancellation late for about an hour and 45 minutes. I enjoyed it very much. I couldn't help thinking of the movie, though. Bette Midler was terriific, very funny, but she sounded a little hoarse to me. I thiought David Hyde Pierce did a great job as Horace. I wish Gavin Creel had more to sing. He has a beautiful voice.
-
Happy Birthday, George!!!
-
Health vibes for DR Elmore's brother Randy!
-
Bette Midler was terriific, very funny, but she sounded a little hoarse to me.
Moreso than Carol Channing? :)
-
Glad to hear you're okay, DR Ron Pulliam!
-
Are you relieved they found nothing, Ron? I wasn't sure.
-
Glad to hear you're okay, DR Ron Pulliam!
Thanks. I think what I need is physical activity beyond getting out of bed, dressing, coming to work, going home and then sitting in front of the TV before going back to bed.
-
But I'm always tired, so...vicious circle?
-
Bette Midler was terriific, very funny, but she sounded a little hoarse to me.
Moreo than Carol Channing? :)
I'm not sure how to compare them!
-
So last night was the concert ON Long Island. It was pretty easy getting there. We took the Long Island Railroad to Westbury and then got a cab to the Nassau Coliseum.
-
Are you relieved they found nothing, Ron? I wasn't sure.
Fred, I hoped there was going to be an answer to why I felt so sluggish. Perhaps a stint was needed, or an ablation. Or a change in meds. Or something "easy" to make me feel better. So...YES, I'm relieved there is no heart disease beyond my congestive heart failure/atrial fibrillation which has been under control.
On top of that, the results of the nuclear stress test were a significant improvement over the one I had in hospital in January of last year. They said it's because I've been properly medicated since that time. And I do concern myself with taking my meds on schedule.
I keep thinking it's the meds that make me feel so tired and sluggish. My reasoning: Every now and again, I forget (due to a rush or something) to take my morning meds. Around mid-morning, I find myself suddenly energetic and handling multiple tasks with ease. My thinking is clearer.
Then I remember that I forgot my meds. When I take them, I return to what passes as "normal" for me. I need something to change. It's apparently in my wheelhouse to find that change.
Since there was no answer to the "why" of how I was feeling, it was bit of a letdown.
-
I was able to get a front row seat. Miss S was in great voice. It was wonderful sharing the experience with so many friends I've met over the years.
-
Not sure what I'll see tonight. I entered the digital lotteries for Dear Evan Hanson and Anastacia. I'm not holding out much hope that I'll win either on, but as "they"say, someone has to win,"
-
Bette Midler was terriific, very funny, but she sounded a little hoarse to me.
Moreo than Carol Channing? :)
I'm not sure how to compare them!
You really can't compare the two. I thought Bette has not singing well when i heard her the day before the official opening I think some of the keys are way too low for her. I'm not saying they used the Carol Channing keys, but whatever keys they put her songs in, some of them are too low. Just sayin'.....

I admire and envy your determination to experience all these pleasures. My best wishes to you for getting in to one of those shows.

Well, she does have a lot of songs and dialogue. And she's no spring chicken, either. And it's been a while since her last tour, so she may be overdoing it a bit.
-
Another thing that really irritated me in Feud: The constant use of the phrase "on set." No one EVER said that back then. That is strictly a phrase that began in the last twenty years. We said "on location" yes, but it was always "I have to be on the set at six" or whatever, always on THE set, or at the studio but never ON SET. It's so easy to get those kinds of details right except with lazy TV writers who depend on their staffs to do research on the Internet, not that they would research ON SET because of course the kiddies who DO the research think everything has always been the way they know it. And every time Joan or Bette would have to give a history lesson right out of what someone read in some book or on the imdb about some film or person - it was laughable. The Aldrich stuff was laughable. The Jack Warner stuff was worse than laughable. And that final "dream" scene with Hedda, Jack and the gals was the nadir of all eight episodes. And I don't know what movie Jackie Hoffman was in, but all I kept thinking of was either Ruth Buzzi or Lotte Lenya.
-
I have to leave soon.
-
Happy Birthday George!!

Have spoken with my retirement folks. Have established 7/29/17 as my date of retirement. My last workday is 7/28/17 (a payday).
Have spoken with Social Security about activating Medicare-Part B. Because I am moving out of state, my retirement medical benefits will be through an exchange. I'll negotiate a plan with an insurance outfit in my retirement state (South Carolina) and the County will pay me $400/month to help pay for plan. I think that's good, until TrumpCare messes with it (if, in fact, the current TrumpCare is remotely linked to what we end up with after the Senate finishes with it).
Because I also have the VA, I'm not terribly worried about my medical needs, although there are some things I'm using now that the VA does not cover....including, primarily, Warfarin (blood thinner). Don't know if VA will cover insulin or not. Am hoping it will.
-
So, George, you've "passed" the half-century mark. How does that grab you?
-
Page 5. No jive!

DR Ron I am glad the tests were normal. I suggest talking to your cardiologist about a script for the nitro since it helped.
-

I agree, get those endorphins working 😊
-

Tell yourself you are just going to walk to the corner, then slower tell yourself to the next corner. Small steps are mentally more easily managed.
-
DR Ron, good luck with the VA coverage. Will you have a good one near you when you move?
-
Friday morning greetings! We've been to Mason, OH, in the pouring rain for my final follow-up appointments with the doctor who did my cataract surgery. He said I get an A+ and he doesn't need to see me until January for a regular exam.
Yay!
Double Yay!! At my eye exam yesterday, the eye doctor said that my cataracts haven't changed at all since last year, and he was really surprised (they're very early in development anyway). He said that there's usually some kind of change, but he didn't notice that they were any different. I guess that that's good.
-
So, George, you've "passed" the half-century mark. How does that grab you?
This year, it's the half-century plus one, so it's the new normal already. It wasn't traumatic or dramatic last year, so it's all good. It's just like any other day. :)
-
Had my quickie meeting, which was basically just to introduce two people to each other. Then I headed over to Jerry's for a quick bite. That drive, which should have taken all of five minutes too twenty-five. As soon as I passed Laurel Canyon I could see that two blocks down the road they'd closed off the street, with fire engines and big machinery there - have no idea what was going on - I quickly turned around but instead of being smart and going north to Moorpark and then west to Whitsett, then down to Jerry's, I went south and came around to Whitsett that way - big mistake. It's one lane and it was backed up five blocks and it took twenty minutes to finally cross Ventura.
-
Now I think I'll try and find out what the damn problem was.
-
I had an omelet and a bagel.
-
And here's the story: https://patch.com/california/studiocity/fire-rips-through-studio-city-shopping-center
-
DR TCB you would have enjoyed our view of the Queen Mary 2 sailing past us.
-
DR Ron, good luck with the VA coverage. Will you have a good one near you when you move?
I'll have a VA hospital within an hour's drive toward central SC, another within 45 minutes drive in Georgia and a Clinic within 30 miles.
-
I think your new retirement date is a fine idea DR RLP.

One of Kerry's paintings. It looks dreamy, but it is also very hard to try to photograph -- glare from the glass.

Good for both of you. Having changed doctors I can't be sure if mine haven'the progressed. The new doctor said I mine are in the early stages which is what the previous doctor said.

We have to be off the ship by 9:00am which will give us plenty of time to walk around the city tomorrow. I hope the wif I is good at the hotel. It has been very frustrating here.

It's easy to post photos here directly - when we switched to our new company we upped the storage for photos - or use tinypic, which is excellent and free and EASY.

Listening to a new (to me) set of the Shostakovich symphonies, which I'm enjoying. Rostropovich is the conductor. I think I may prefer the sound on my Barshai set, however, but these are very nice performances.

Sure doesn't feel like a Friday, sure feels like a Saturday due to the early cleaning lady appearance.

I am home from a long but good day and pondering dinner. Randy is home. I will talk to him tomorrow.

Randy is home Already!

It's the end of a Friday workday.
Joy!

We had Cinco de Mayo fixin's today...in the conference room next to me. Lots of good food. Lots of happy people. There was plenty of food from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
I had some good stuff. I just took my blood glucose reading and it was 158. My "acceptable" range is 100-150. So given what I ate for lunch, I can live with being 8 over the top of my acceptable range.
-
Well, I must go now. I'm off to my sister's to celebrate with the family!
Be back later!
-
Enjoy your celebration, George!!

Have fun DR GEORGE.
Thanks for posting the link DR LAURA - lovely art from DR KERRY.

Hello, everyone.

A BIG HAPPY BIRTHDAY to DR GEORGE!
I presume he's celebrating at this moment. I hope you've had a wonderful day, George!

DR Laura, thanks for posting some of Kerry's art. The first one you posted is my favorite. Some lovely work.

Mega recovery vibes to DB Randy! I'm amazed he's home so soon.
-
Jrand, glad to hear today's consultation went well. I hope you had all your questions answered.
-
Ron, I'm really glad you had the chest pain checked out. A clean bill of health! Great! I hope you soon find the source of your fatigue and are able to correct it. I often get caught in the exercise catch-22 myself.

Yes, that's good. My cataracts developed very slowly. But they can speed up, so it's important to have your eyes checked yearly.

It's easy to post photos here directly - when we switched to our new company we upped the storage for photos - or use tinypic, which is excellent and free and EASY.
How? I thought we lost that ability when we all stopped being "gods"

I am home from a long but good day and pondering dinner. Randy is home. I will talk to him tomorrow.
Randy is home?! Wow! I thought for sure he would be in the hospital for some time. Vibes for a quick recovery
-
Ron I understand your mixed feelings, it's a relief they found nothing , on the other hand if they don't find anything they can't fix it
-
Hi, Vixmom.
-
Good health and good weekend vibes to all.
-
Good night.
-
Vibes that you feel better soon
-
I think it's a great idea to move up your retirement

This afternoon we went to the beautiful little medieval town of Obidos. On the return drive to the ship we drove through the city of Lisbon. We are looking forward to our 5 night stay.
I love Lisbon. Have some pasteis de nada or Pasteis de Belem for me.
And if you see lobster soup on the menu, don't think twice. One of the most heavenly things I've ever eaten.
I do not eat lobster or other shell fish. What are the fist 2 items you mentioned?
Different names for a pastry made of sugar and egg yolks. There are maybe 500 different desserts in Portugal made from sugar and egg yolks, and this is the most famous.
The nuns used to use the egg whites to starch their wimples. They didn't want to waste the yolks, so they create some spectacular treats.

Picked up "I Love You to Death" from the library. I love the cast: Kevin Kline, Tracey Ullman, Joan Plowright, among others. But the script is dreadful.
And the back of the box says Plowright won the Oscar for Enchanted April. Huh? Did anybody tell Marisa Tomei that?
-
Finished with my viewing - watched a lousy movie and a great documentary.
-
The movie, however, yielded one piece of astonishing coincidence that kind of boggled mind.
-
And now it's back to Shostakovich/Rostropovich
-
Oh yeah, and I did a two-and-a-half mile jog.
-
I Love You to Death should crawl off somewhere and die. So unfunny.
-
I'm going to sleep.
-
Good night, all.

John, I LOVE YOU TO DEATH was filmed here in Tacoma. On behalf of our city's fathers, I offer our apologies.
-
Pre-surgery vibes to Jrand.
-
Ron, I am glad your heart is healthy.
-
Laura, thank you for sharing Kerry's art.
-
DR TCB you would have enjoyed our view of the Queen Mary 2 sailing past us.
I would have enjoyed it more, if I was standing on the deck of the QM2 waving at you.
-
Elmore, I am glad to hear that Randy is already home from the hospital.
-
Positive vibes to all of us here, we deserve them.

Enjoy your celebration, George!!
Thanks, Fred! I did!
-
Hello, Birthday Boy!
-
Have fun DR GEORGE.
Thanks, Jrand! We played Phase 10 (as usual, and as usual I didn't win). We had Little Caesars pizza, and my sister made Chocloate Lush. My mom also bought a tiramisu cake from Safeway that was good, but it was a bit too much. Oh, well. It's my birthday! :D
-

So, where did you go for lunch and what did you have?
I went to the Tumwater El Sarapé and had the Fiesta Salad. Like dinner, it was to much, but pretty good. ;D
