Well, you've read the notes, the notes coughed and coughed again, and now it is time for you to post until the coughing cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: PEREGRINATE!
-
First post after BK!

~~~Most Excellent Vibes and Xylophones for No Sickness for BK!!~~~
About Rogue One...I didn't care for the CGI Peter Cushing. They could've easily gotten an actor who looks like him. But Carrie Fisher was still alive when this was filmed and released, and her CGI was such a small part of the movie that it didn't bother me the way Peter Cushing's did.
-
Just my 2˘.
-
And now, to bed.
Have a good day, all.
I believe our little sicko stalker is at it again. The writing style - I don't know, seems right to me.
A little late today, but still first on the East coast!
Well, I have a more-than-vague feeling one of my own old stalker types may be starting up again, just maybe. If you're interested, note the comment post from "Grumpy Dirt Lawyer" under my comments that's under this article.
(Oddly, in my own comments there, Spell-check had automatically changed my typing of Larry Gelbart to Larry gilbert, and I hadn't noticed it in time to fix it.)
Good morning, all.
TOD:
Boredom or a kind of boredom caused by a lack of understanding of the music.
STALKERS BE GONE VIBES!
DR DRUXY are you continuing to heal?
Good morning to all
No sickness vibes for DR Jane.
Monday morning greetings! It's a beautiful day here in SW Ohio, perfect for having our roof looked at to find out why it rained in our living room a couple of weeks ago. While Richard is dealing with that, I'm working on a particularly grizzly financial task on behalf of my Mother. I've put it off as long as possible and I hope I haven't waited to long to address it. Pray for Rosemary's baby...
DITTO, and the same to me please.
Vibes for both BK and DR Jane!
-
TOD - I am still coughing, but a lot less than last week. Every once in a while I sound like the sea lions in Monterrey.
Coughing is why Richard and I skipped going to the theatre when we were in London and why we missed a Dayton Opera dress rehearsal last year. We always ask ourselves, "Would we want to be sitting in front of us?" It's also why I don't attend church in Dayton with Richard more often. They use a lot of incense and it really gets to me.
-
Good morning, all!
-
The closing performance went really well, and the audience seemed very enthusiastic. The closing party was a lot of fun, but way too noisy. I saw friends I hadn't seen in some time, had a couple of introductions to make and several people to say goodbye to. I got home around 11:30, and then Ihad to do a couple of things before I went to bed.
-
I got to bed around 1:00, so I am still groggy. Today, I have the second edit of the Act Two Guys & Dolls Piano-conductor score. When that's finished I have to begin the first edit of the new Guys & Dolls vocal score.
-
No sickness vibes for DR Jane.
Thank you. One never wants to be sick, however the timing would be extremely bad.
Vibes for both BK and DR Jane!
Thank you and good luck you didn't wait too long on the financial task.
No sickness vibes for DR JANE!!!
DR CATHERINE I would agree with DR JOHN G that Andy Griffith's performance on the CD of DESTRY RIDES AGAIN is a lot of fun...if you are a fan, it is well worth the purchase price.
-
Coughing.....it's everywhere!
-
Two!
-
I've been working too long today already.
-
Another Monday.
Oof-tah!
-
This is one of those days in which my mind tends to peregrinate without focus.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Though basically out of my cold, I woke up coughing...but it was a good cough, a decent cough, as coughs go. The gunk in my chest is finally loosening up and letting go.
-
For some inspired thinking on this noble subject, let us turn to the great Woody Allen:
T.B. or not T.B.,
That is the congestion.
Consumption be done about it?
Of cough. Of cough.
-
"At the beginning of a recent performance of Handel’s “Messiah” at Carnegie Hall, coughs rippled through the audience like “bullfrogs calling to one another at night from different parts of the swamp..."
-
Damn! I need a trip to market. That's next on today's agenda after I hear from Joshie about his recording session this morning. He was writing a chart for Malcolm Gets.
-
No sickness vibes for DR JANE!!!
Thank you DR Jrand. Complete healing vibes for you!!!!!
Now I get it, Griffith was in the stage production ;D
I'm up, I'm up - almost eight hours of sleep and awakened by a call from Richard Sherman, who is foggy and what he did to the final song in the show - did at my request. He may have written it down in sheet music form, in which case the MD will have it, as I gave him everything. Or Richard may have it at his house somewhere, but I know he did a revision because he played it for me. But he doesn't have any scripts he can look at so it's all fuzzy to him.
-
Today is kind of "all fuzzy" for me, too.
Today is the day I "doubled" my Prozac dosage (doctor's orders). Am feeling a bit loopy at the moment.
-
Doubled, wow. Maybe you can reduce it a little. Good luck!
-
Thanks George.
-
I need to accustom myself to the dosage, Jane. I can function.
-
Somewhat, that is.
-
My goodness but it's a slow day here.
-
What can we do to make things pick up?
-
Rather, what can I do to pick things up?
-
I note two guests, but they can't post unless they join.
-
My biggest problem right now is that I'm very, very sleepy.
-
Exceedingly sleepy.
-
If I weren't forcing myself to type, I'd nod off.
-
Has anyone else seen the musical preview of the return of "Will and Grace"?
They do a riff on "As If We Never Said Goodbye".
-
Can anybody find page 3?
-
The show will be back this Fall for 12 episodes.
Everyone is older, but the magic seems to be there.
-
Page 3
-
We can get the return of Will and Grace, but not the return of Donald Trump?
-
He says he'll release them when he's "out" of office now.
-
Just another lie, so far as I'm concerned.
-
I have a coughing fit when I am near cinnamon pinecones and also allergic to scented candles!!!
-
Joshie did not get back from his session until after 3:00 and I never got to market. I did get through Guys & Dolls Act Two up to the Craphooters Ballet. That's the biggest number in Act Two, so I'll begin after a break with "Luck Be A Lady."
-
Agreed. ::)
I haven't seen this new preview. I saw a very short teaser trailer, but nothing else, yet. I'll have to look for it.
-
Somewhat, that is.
Somewhat is the hard part ;)
If you ever go off of the medication be sure to reduce it at a far slower pace.
-
I forgot my fitbit so I can't tell you how many steps or miles I walked this afternoon. The important bit is that my knee was MUCH better and I barely hobbled.
Now if I only knew if I have allergies or am still fighting a cold. I fear it is both.
-
Bruce, we saw ROGUE ONE when it first came out, before Carrie Fisher died. Only Peter Cushing was a CGI performance.
Well, they did CGI Carrie Fisher to be younger. I don't think she was actually filmed, but I'm sure that she dubbed the lines herself.
-
Really? I thought they had her working out and losing weight before filming, and then did things to make her look younger. I could tell Cushing was CGI from the beginning, but then I knew he was dead. Weird.
Oh, you mean when she was super young ;D I forgot about that.
-
Carrie is completely CGI and her one line is cobbled together from the original film.
-
I gotta tell you.
-
Prepping the musical script - very hard. This one's gonna be making it up as I go - it's just so convoluted getting from scene to scene in any kind of interesting way. I'm guessing I'll start staging and then transitions will come to me - certainly they're not going to come to me by looking at the script.
-
But I have prepped enough for two days of staging.
-
And I'll return to the script later this evening. I got through the weird "ballet" thing in the Sherman Brothers script - I'm not sure I wrote it well in terms of the stage direction, but I know it will be fun to stage in that Peking Opera style.
-
Young Carrie but isn't she also in it as old Carrie? Or am I confusing the films?
I'd read that there was another actress who was filmed on the set for that last scene in Rogue One. Then they CGI's Carrie's younger-ized face over this other actress.
-
But as with every scene in the second act - major revisions abound. It's like they ran out of steam and inspiration as they neared the finish line.
Don't you hate it when that happens??
I didn't know about the line.
I am watching QVC Inspired Style
Anyone seen any good movies lately!!!
The work day is basically done.
And it didn't come a moment too soon.
Time to go now.
Somewhere in a folder of clippings I have an old New Yorker review of a Wagner opera (possibly Parsifal) at the Met which beautifully described the audience's coughing. I'll post it when I find it. A treat for another day.
-
DRS, What are your favorite movies from the forties and why?
-
TOD: I wonder too if people are coughing when they really don't have to. I really felt bad when I saw Titanic at the Signature Theatre a few months ago because I had a bad cough. I did my best to wait to cough during applause, but I had to cough a few times during the show. I really didn't want to just forget about the $100 I paid for my ticket.
-
Evening all! No coughing for our Dear BK or DR Jane or anyone else! I haz spoken!
-
Just another day at work. Not much going on. Watching "Overboard" for The Who knows how many times but I still like it
I heard that there will be a remake.
I do get a kick out of seeing the big cell phones they had at the time. They were the height of being "cool" but a brick to carry. At least that's the way I remember my first cell phone.
-
Hi New DR Catherine. Nice to meet you!
-
Nice to meet you also Dr Danise!!!
-
I also watched OVERBOARD several times and enjoyed it!!!
-
My passion is for the.old black and white movies in the forties!!! Anyone else!!!
Got past the biggest of the Sherman Brothers musical humps - the lead's eleven o'clock number. When I first heard it it didn't feel right to me - very negative and I told Richard what I felt and that I thought it needed to be turned around by the end of it. He loved that and wrote a way to do it. He played it for me and while I didn't think it was perfect, it did help. Well, he can't find it, doesn't remember what he did, so I was completely stuck and didn't think I'd be able to get past it without him actually coming over to sit and look at the script. But I dove into it, got a great idea (borrowing a little thing from a sequence I completely deleted early in act two), and then added a few lines to the song's lyric to make it do what it needed to do, and adjusted a couple of other lines, too - Richard can finesse those if he likes, and he'll have to write an ending to go with what I've added onto his ending, but that should be simple now. So, one more scene to go and I'm only making cuts in that one.
-
Strongest vibes for our Jack
DITTO!
-
Notes are written and ready to post. I'm gonna try and be in bed by twelve-fifteen.
-
I read Richard Sherman my rewrite of the eleven o'clock number and scene and he absolutely loved it. He'll have to write about four lines of music to end the number, which he can do easily.
