Yes DR ELMORE I watched the I LOVE LUCY hour spectacular....they certainly edited the hell out of the episodes, but they were still very funny.

And this company is going all out in the BRIGHTNESS of the colors they have chosen for the clothes and decor....whew!

I loved Lucy's dance with Van Johnson - always a fun episode.

TCB - Did you watch the whole SNL show?

Title: Re: FINISHING THE FIRST PASS STAGING AND CHOREOGRAPHY IN FIVE DAYS
Post by: FJL on May 21, 2017, 04:01:48 AM
SNL had a little too much envelope-pushing for not enough humor at times, or at least that was my impression.  I was genuinely shocked by the controversial content of some of the material, even at 12:30 or 12:40 a.m, and I'm really not THAT easily shocked.

Last night after a hot shower and some time on the heating ad my back was still driving me mad.  Then I remembered I never finished my pain meds from my various tooth extractions.  Lo and behold there was still something left to relieve the pain.  One of those and I had about 10 hours of blissful sleep.  After a night with only about 3 hours of fitful sleep it was much needed .

This morning my back was better , although not perfect.  I am wearing the back brace Vixdad bought me yesterday and it is helping quite a bit

I went to church, set up the coffeehour but had the Pastor announce that servers were needed for the after 9 pm service

We have a lovely lady from our Misa service who cleans up after the 10:30 crowd so I jusrpt had to reset the altar after the 9 am for the 1030 service and clean up the chapel from last nights 5 pm service

There's a Michael's across the stree from the church now so I went over during  the 1030 service to pick up some new wooden numbers and glow in the dark paint so we can replace our falling apart house numbers

Sunday afternoon greetings!  Mary Linda and I had a great time yesterday at the Women's Wine and Chocolate Walk around downtown Middletown.  There were a lot of attendees from out of town who were learning that there's more to Middletown than what they see on the local news and read in Hillbilly Elegy.

In the course of about 6.5 hours after we got home I took 2 doses of a "make you drowsy" cough syrup and I'm still kind of groggy.  And still coughing...

Does that allow for inflation?  I took my goddaughter.  One adult ticket and one senior citizen ticket came to over $30, which is ridiculous.

I liked reading the comments on SOMETHING WILD.  Last year on TCM, they had a Jack Garfein night and he introduced this movie and THE STRANGE ONE....near the end of the evening after SW, he mentioned in passing that he was married to Carroll Baker when they made the film.

Carroll Baker has always been a favorite actress/movie star of mine....and I think she had something, although it wasn't always used to her advantage....BUT who else do we know who played opposite Clark Gable (But Not For Me), James Dean (Giant), and Jack Nicholson (Ironweed).

Evening all!  I had a another quiet weekend for the most part.

I drove past the local Goodwill and something whispered in my ear to stop because there was something there I was looking for.  I've had this happen before and every time I get that feeling something, I've wanted is there.

In this case, I've had it on my mind that I want a short pair of brown lace up boots to go with an outfit I have for the ren fest in December but I didn't want to spend a ton of money on a new pair.

Well, Lo and Behold, there were the very boots I've had on my mind for the past couple of weeks. EXACTLY like what I pictured in my head-and yes, they fit me like they were made for me. AND they were the grand sum of $8.98!

I will take them to get some taps put on the heels but other then that, they are perfect!

I love it when that happens.

Back from a very good rehearsal day - we assembled and we ran the show - more about that in the notes, but our design team, knowing how early in the game this is, wanted to come by and make notes to get a head start.  I think their mouths were on the floor, frankly, that we're where we are. And our costume designer, who was at the private reading at my house, could not believe what I've done to make the show into a coherent musical - so I was very pleased with their reactions.

I'm back to watching the second half. The movie is fascinating because it says a lot of things that weren't said elsewhere at the time. Rape was not exactly the plot twist of every movie being made then. And Garfein's cast is incredible. Jean Stapleton and Doris Roberts in early roles were almost too perfect in their irritating characteristics.

I'm now downloading the revival cast recording of The Color Purple. I hope it's a little more focused than the original. There were some good things in the score, but too many of the songs seemed to have been cut short or not let developed to their full length.

Went to my friends Pam and Cecil's., tonight for dinner. He grilled chicken and we sampled a Colorado rum we were given when we went to Denver.

Congratulations!

Can anyone explain the Fitbit thing to me?  From the little I know ( and trust me I know little)  it's just  a digital pedometer ....

It's something you pay too much money for to tell you that you're not walking enough.

My trouser wAist tells me that for free

We had a lady show  yesterday for one of the items I had advertised(for free) abs she was grateful and happy.  After 2 more no shows I put the ther two items on the curb with a big sign 'free' on each of them.... They wer done within a half hour.   I should have just done that to begin with

The party ran late and we never went to the after party in Studio City which was inconvenient, plus Keith was too tired.  I had wanted to go but am ok that we didn't.  We came back to our hotel over looking the water, walked around the marina and then had a snack at the hotel outdoor restaurant.  It was a good way to unwind.

Great Goodwill story DR DANISE.  It will be at least a few weeks before I can get back to my local emporium...I am sure they will have lots of new treasures.

My favorite Carroll Baker movie is THE CARPETBAGGERS, although I am still upset - 53 years later - that her character didn't get the terrific hospital death scene that's in the book.....the HARLOW one was a pale shadow of it.....

TCB - Did you watch the whole SNL show?

Yes, I did.
Title: Re: FINISHING THE FIRST PASS STAGING AND CHOREOGRAPHY IN FIVE DAYS
Post by: TCB on May 21, 2017, 11:21:05 PM
SNL had a little too much envelope-pushing for not enough humor at times, or at least that was my impression.  I was genuinely shocked by the controversial content of some of the material, even at 12:30 or 12:40 a.m, and I'm really not THAT easily shocked.

And we were watching it in prime time 8:30 - 10:00 p.m.
