Well, you've read the notes, the notes discussed Kritzerland at Sterling's 78, and now it is time for you to post until the 78 cows come home.

Listening to the glory that is Prokofiev's Romeo and Juliet ballet - stunningly dramatic and stunningly beautiful music.  This performance on Melodiya is in mono but I have never heard a better performance than this.

I'm in awe of the amount of music BK has been listening to.

It's not like some of us couldn't do the same thing.  But I think those lovely box set collections make it easier to accomplish by bringing some kind of structure to the proceedings.

The Stravinsky binge got me going the other day.  I've been going through my own Igor collection, reacquainting myself with some of my favorite but too-long-unheard music of the 20th century, and I found I had a better appreciation of it than ever.  Weeding out a few things along the way is good, too.

I had another long dream last night.  My assignment, along with other teams of writers,  was to write a musical based on restoration plays.  I have no idea now who my writing partners were.  Since I am quite fond of the comedies of Congreve, Vanbrugh, and Wycherly, and I was posting photos from The Beggar's Opera on Facebook last night, I am not completely surprised by this dream.

Tune of MOON RIVER

Trump Tower
Peaceful for a while
So come and shop in style today

That deal-maker
That press-shaker
Whenever Trump’s going
We’re going “Okay!”

You shoppers
Walk into our store
Just walk right through our door, we’re here

Not just one-percenters, my friend
More than just high end
So come inside and spend
Trump Tower’s all clear

I'm thinking about putting little Hayley into the Sherman Brothers musical - the script calls for some kids but I'd already decided on just a boy and girl - the boy has some fun lines in the first scene and the girl has nothing until the very end and I'm not even sure if she has any actual lines, but I'll fix that up and add some for her and I'd like to find a way to use them in other parts of the show.

When my ex-wife's mother died a couple of years ago, my daughter snagged for me two autograph books she'd kept all these years - she loved me and really loved my books - she read every one of them up until she passed - something my ex has NEVER done.  So, going through them - I'd only glanced when they came to me - some fascinating stuff in them: Ruth Etting, Helen Morgan, Ethel Waters, Ethel Shutta, Edgar Bergen, Leo Carillo, Roland Young, and many others.

I used to have a great autograph book, but I traded it several years ago for lobby cards signed by Humphrey Bogart, Katharine Hepburn, Ginger Rogers and Lucille Ball, and Abbott & Costello, which now adorn the walls of my media room.

Just walk right through our door, we’re here

Not just one-percenters, my friend

Fun. I hadn't realized it had such an impact.

Nice stories both.

In Elvis Costello's autobiography, he talks about mutilating a paper signed by all four Beatles just to get it to fit in his autograph book.

The video thing is annoying - it's like "this is why we can't have nice things" - people who came regularly got used to knowing I'd be posting videos and literally stopped coming - not a lot but enough to annoy me.  I will post occasional things like the one in the notes.

Picked a cucumber this morning. It may be the full crop, but it tasted very good. There are still a few flowers on the plant, but I don't know if there will be fruit.

I also picked the first habanero. There are about two dozen more on the one plant. I may pickle those, if they're alive when I get back from vacation.

That would be cool.
