Well, you've read the notes, the notes had no sleep, and now it is time for you to post until the sleepy cows come home.

New five-star Amazon review:

"Mom will be so proud to know her Einstein did something important... Let that be enough." Wow. I am not typically a person who is intrigued by fantasy or time-travel to be exact, and this THRILL RIDE of a novel certainly proved effective. If only we all could have a conversation with our younger self, if only we could go back for three minutes even, or forward for one day-- what revelations, gratitude and hope could be realized! I have to say the very matter-of-fact, inquisitive voice of "Einstein" (as referred to by his late mother) juxtaposed with the gruff yet nurturing voice of Irene, the caretaker to his older self, makes for a very pleasant blend of dialogue meets detail, meets action meets memories and... progression. I was captivated to know such vividly placed details of a Los Angeles that once 'was'. I felt I myself going back in time as the narrator traveled further (forward) into a modern mesh of technological advancements that may pique one's curiosity as to why the human race is falling short in empathy and genuine connecting. Themes such as: 'taking a stand to make a difference' , 'slowing down', and... 'not necessarily being able to change history, but certainly being able to control one's outlook and dynamic part in each day' are woven throughout the reading. Just the right amount of down-to-earth humor and heartfelt humanity drives the adventure that is THRILL RIDE. So, do yourself a favor, and enjoy a quick and pensive summer read, and find hope again in a "great, big BEAUTIFUL tomorrow."

Now, if only TCB and Vixmom would write their long-promised reviews that would make me very happy.  But I'm sure these months later the book is no longer even in their minds.

We have our second and final show today.  A short run!  I don't mind that it'll be over and I can move on to other things, but it's been way more fun and rewarding than l'd expected.

We also lucked out, in spades, with beautiful weather.  Mid-80s, sunny, and dry.  You can't ask for better than that for an outdoor show.  Because that's it, baby.  There ain't no better.

Sunday morning greetings!  Yesterday was much improved over the day before and was a vast improvement over how we spent our ALA Saturday last year in Orlando (ER with Richard's double vision).  I had a nice morning listening to authors and publicists talk about forthcoming books, lunched with Richard, and went to my 2 Retired Member Roundtable meetings.

Now that we've had a Palmer House experience, I'll be happy to go back to the Hampton Inn that adjoins the theatre where we saw the show last night.  We've stayed there twice and would be there this time if rooms had been available when I booked back in January.

Last night I spent too much time trying to find a set of books I have on Dickens, Austen, and Shakespeare.  I usually know approximately where something is in the mess and maze of bookshelves, but I have no idea where the fat hell they are.  This requires further investigation if I find the time today.

DR Ginny,  I heard from Carmon deLeone this morning, and I sent him the mp3 files for Moonshine & Mistletoe.  I'm happy you liked Hamilton.  The raves still elude me, and I feel the show is hyped out of all proportion.  I guess it's like Leonard Bernstein's review of Miss Saigon:  once I realized there was no music, I enjoyed the scenery.

Watching the rest of Jailhouse Rock. There's a strange scene with Elvis singing poolside. All of the listeners are wearing swim suits with some in the water. The band is wearing Hawaiian shirts and look warm. Elvis, meanwhile, is wearing a thick sweater.

I have got through the vocal score up to the Crapshooters Ballet.  My colleague Jason's work looks really fine.  I'm still finding a few things I missed and a few that he did from the last pass, and I know there will be a few that will only be found after we freeze it, but I think it's looking quite nice.

Jane, is there a Kohl's near you? Like George, I bought my bed pillow there. It's high-quality foam, with cervical support, and wasn't even expensive. They have lots online, but it'd be better if you could see it, feel it, give it a 5-second test. they're good about returns, also. Tuesdays used to be senior discount day. don't know if it still is.

Fortunately Craig's List turned up a handyman who was able to come today and put things right

That's great.  Might he also fix your basement problem for a reasonable price?

Jane, is there a Kohl's near you? Like George, I bought my bed pillow there. It's high-quality foam, with cervical support, and wasn't even expensive. They have lots online, but it'd be better if you could see it, feel it, give it a 5-second test. they're good about returns, also. Tuesdays used to be senior discount day. don't know if it still is.

I wasn't actually thinking of getting a new pillow until you mentioned Norm's making foam pillows.  I like the idea of having one made to fit me.  I like the pillows I have.  One is extra soft for when I have a migraine.  I have used it too much lately and now it doesn't seem to work.

Kohl's isn't convenient.  I looked on their website and the foam pillows seem to be memory or gel foam.  Which one did you buy.  I would just like an old fashioned foam pillow which I don't think anyone makes anymore.

I read that as one hundred ninety two.

Where are you sleeping tonight?

I have a craving for ginger ice cream but I'd settle for peppermint ice cream.

A Craving for Ginger - isn't that the name of something?

It's one if "those" kinds of fan fiction written from the perspective of Mary Ann. ;)

[Said the guy who just saw 5 Lesbians Eating a Quiche for the second time in two days...and it's still funny!]

Here in my loft bedroom.  I've found that, even though it's quite warm, I'm comfortable enough if I sleep on top of my covers.  I have a fan in the room below blowing up and over me.  It's cooling enough to make it bearable.

Watching The Drowning Pool. A very young Melanie Griffith. Joanne Woodward at her best and a great Paul Newman.

Another good ALA day.  I attended an interesting program about Zooniverse.com, then finished the exhibit hall.  Had time for a fruit and yogurt parfait before meeting my friend Sue to hear a speech by Ron Chernow, author of the biography that inspired HAMILTON.  He's now promoting his forthcoming biography of Ulysses S. Grant.  Wonder if we'll get "Grant-The Musical."

Back from a very good first run-through and a not-so-good second run-through - everyone was flubbing and fumfering like crazy - no one seems to be used to doing two-show days anymore and what that requires.

Michael Small's main theme for The Drowning Pool sounds an awful lot like Killing Me Softly.

I often use a fan in addition to the AC. The cool air from the AC just doesn't get to all the right places. Or isn't cool enough.

Sorry about the roof, but I'm impressed that you found someone who'd come out on a Sunday and at a reasonable price. I hope he can help you again sometime.

These days memory foam is all the rage. My pillow is foam, but I don't know if it's memory foam. It's a cervical pillow, which I need, and provides good support without being too hard. Prior to it I had a cervical egg crate pillow, which I loved. I have an egg crate pillow against my back right now. It's one of the foam samples I brought home. I'd forgotten how comfortable it can be.

Keith as a variety of memory foam pillows.  I have never found one I like.  He also has had a crate style pillow.  His favorite sleeping pillow is a cervical memory foam.  So far those have all been too big for me,

But no Web site to browse.  Next time we are in L.A. I will try and stop there
