Dear reader Jose asked that the group photo posted late last night be identified: The front row, left to right - Barbara Deutsch, her son Sam Lembeck, and Sam's girlfriend, Natalie.
Middle row, left to right - Kevin Spirtas, his pal Mark, and my fiance, Rachel.
Back row, left to right - Panni, Jay, and my new pal Barbara Cutler.
By the time we took the photo, most of the other guests had departed.
I'm back from my parents' house and a good time was had by all! My mom and dad, my niece, my sister and her boyfriend were all there. We all got gifts and no one got much more than anyone else. I got CA$H!! as well as a gift card for Circuit City! and a NEW MOTHERBOARD FOR MY COMPUTER!! I don't know about a fatherboard, unless the father got bored and took a hike. ::) I also got some socks from my parents. I never would have thought to ask for socks, but they're certainly wanted. You can never have too many socks. At least, I'm not anywhere near having too many socks!
Lovely pictures, DR Panni and DR BK!
I wish I could have been there… Your famous spaghetti sauce looks so delicious, BK. Could you show us any Parisienne Cake’s photo as well? I really am interested in how Parisienne Cake looks, as you BK always are devoted to that cake.
I'm glad that everyone had a nice time at the party last night. It looked wonderful but I was a little confused until I got the joke about the shocking announcement. For a second, I thought it was for real!
Far be it from me to not honor a long-standing tradition of Christmas (Jewish division) today, Dear Readers. I shall sojourn to the County of Orange this afternoon and take the Dear Mother out for Chinese food.
Indeed, Chinese food at Christmas (not in bed) goes back to Moses.
It's a little known fact that there was a THIRD tablet brought down from Mount Sinai -- a take-out menu.
A Christmas tradition in our family is for my brother to stick a stick-on bow to my forehead. It stays there until it falls off, usually around New Year's Eve.
This year it is a big silvery bow. It's very pretty.
I would, but the upload folder is full and I don't know how to fix that. Shucks.

Good morning. I can't believe I'm up this early, but I think I should not have had that extra bit of spaghetti before bed. But, up I am. I've already opened one present, and it was actually a belated birthday gift from the Pogues - a nifty baseball hat from the actual Globe Theater.
Good holiday spirit, everybody!
Joshie got a new feather boa for Christmas. He entertained us all with it for quite some time.
We need more posts with more presents reports. For example, I do hope that some of you got some normal underpants for Christmas, and I do hope that none of you got some thong underpants for Christmas.
Well, it really doesn't seem like a Saturday, does it? I think I'll mosey on in to the shower now.
Sandra, I am so glad you posted that photo. I was worried that Joshie might be your brother.
And that same fruitcake has been passed around ever since. I think we had it one year.
And I dated it!May be a Nightmare in the making. The "Freddy" Reference. And I have not seen an Elm Street movie I hope it was not a Jason reference as I have not seen those either!
A fruitcake with dates!
DRSandra your cat is adorable. We should introduce him to Freddy Barnum!
I just got an IM from somebody called SXGRL.
SXGRL tells me that I was wonderful last night and says there are pics to prove it.
Gee, I wonder if SXGRL is talking about the Christmas do?
Thank you François for the "On The Record" information. But will it tour Paris and Melbourne. (Not a Texas nor a Florida reference)
LOL Freddy is DRMBARNUM's cat!I know! :)
I don't think this "throw" thing is a rug at all - it's a really soft luxurious throw thing, as in throw it over yourself on the couch when you're chilly.
Oh, Emily is gone from ON THE RECORD....I was thinking about buying a ticket.....now I am not.
Hmmm.. I just peeked into the TV in the living room... "The Sound of Music" looks a little strange to me this year. Framing? Pan and scan? Bad print?
???
-I had to aid Santa getting into his get-up so he would not pull out some of his stitches...
He'll be donning the red & white again once the grandchildren get here... Let's see if Alyssa screams at Santa again this year. -She's been scared of Jolly Ole St. Nick since she was a two-month old! Which was sort of funny last year when my brother wanted to get pics of her with Santa at the Mall... It's sort of a sad picture... but in a funny-sad way. ;)
-Well, at least I know that I am not the only adult she's scared of.
The mysterious CD is entitled The Babes: Beyond Bitchin' - the cover is a parody of an early Beatles album (Beatles '64, I think). I'm going to play it on the way to St. Nick's (Redman, that is).
I didn't post the picture of my brother with his new feather boa. He was a little too entertaining, if you know what I mean.
And before he hits me for posting that, I'll say that I'm just kidding.
Glad they liked On the Record - they seem to be in the minority. Also glad they liked our Emily Skinner, who has just dropped out of the show.
Yes, DRJOSE I just checked the SOUND OF MUSIC - I think since we are used to DVD quality - this p/s print is almost unbearable. I don't have the heart to watch to see if it is the version that doesn't cut much dialog - but makes cuts in SONGS!!
You don't have to say it was G-d, I usually attribute such "finds" to St. Anthony - he of the lost things department.
Well, Taylor couldn't take her eyes off of it! She is only 2 and 1/2 years old but she was absolutely fascinated by this ballet and we ended up watching the whole thing together!!!
Then she wanted to watch it again...I had to try and explain that it wasn't a DVD and we could not watch it again...but she didn't quite understand! LOL!
I am having trouble deciding between Last Five Years, Parade, and Elegies.
I've listened to almost all of the Bitchin' Babes and they are quite good. I think the CD is almost a textbook example of weak sequencing, because the first three tracks are way too similar and I was ready to give up. But, then came the HMO song and they had me. In fact, I'm going to recommend that song to a singer I know, to put it on her new album, should her new album actually ever become a reality.
I know you didn't ask my advice, but here it comes anyway. If you can only pick one, pick Elegies.

When I got home from the breakfast, I watched another episode of STAR TREK from Season 2 - "Obsession." Amazing how beautiful these old shows look now on DVD. The color is so very rich. Used to look so pastel on our old Admiral color TV 40 years ago.Ah, yes, back in the good ol' days, when you knew a crewman was going to die if he was wearing a pink shirt.
The last time that I watched "The Sound of Music" on TV was quite a few years ago. Julie was singing "I Have Confidence" and came to the part near the end of the song:
It can be
All I trust I leave my heart to
All I trust becomes my own
I have confidence in confidence alone...
(spoken) Oh, help.
(sung) I have confidence in confidence alone,
Besides, which you see, I have confidence in me!
Anyway, they got to the spoken part:
It can be
All I trust I leave my heart to
All I trust becomes my own
I have confidence in confidence alone...
(spoken) Oh, help....
"And we'll be right back to The Sound of Music after these commecial messages."
:o THEY DIDN'T FINISH THE SONG! I was livid! I turned off the TV (I was so mad I didn't even change the channel) and I vowed right then and there that I would NEVER watch The Sound of Music on TV again. And I haven't. I won't even watch the commercials for it. :P

...The local contemporary Christian station has been playing the most gorgeous jazz-inflected a capella version of Alfred Burt's "Caroling, Caroling" I have ever heard, and I can never get through to them to find out who it is. ...It's probably one of those computer-run stations, so no one has to be running the store. Or, to put it another way, a case of "G*d in the Machine."
...I may get a cast recording or two with my leftover Christmas money. I am having trouble deciding between Last Five Years, Parade, and Elegies.I'd go for Parade myself.
