Well, you've read the notes, the notes were good and kicked the ASS of the bad and the ugly from here to eternity and hell and back, and now it is time for you to post until the good, the bad, and the ugly cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: HOBBYHORSE!
-
First post after BK!
-
Second post after BK!
-
Have you got plans for the weekend?
-
The only plans that I have today are to sleep in, then go to my sister's for our weekly family dinner/Phase 10 playing get-together. My sister gave me a Papa Murphy's fund raising coupon card with eight different offers. Now, I finally get to use it.
-
I thought the family dinner was always on Friday night.
-
Tomorrow, Margo and I are going to my friend Michael's house to watch "Game of Thrones" projected on the side of his workshop.
-
I thought the family dinner was always on Friday night.
It usually is, but my mom was doing something with friends of hers, so we're getting together today.
-
We're also going to my sister's house because she has air conditioning.

We're also going to my sister's house because she has air conditioning.
Wise idea!
-
Is this your sister's new house?
-
Is this your sister's new house?
Well, essentially. She moved back into this house. She had lived in this house before she bought the house that she just sold. She still owned it but had rented it out.
-
Okay, now I remember.
-
Have a good day, George.
-
Have a good day, George.
Thanks, Tom. You, too!
-
vixmom and TCB - Thanks so much for your lovely comments last night on the newest show.
-
Jeanne, thanks for your comment yesterday, and thanks also for the vibes and encouragement. Like any show, we'll need 'em.
-
Good morning, all!
-
I was dreaming about casting and recording Jubilee when I woke.
-
Good morning to all
-
TOD
I don't have a favorite Tony Randall.
-
I need to win the lottery. I've got a list of around ten recordings I want to make before I die. A nice lottery win would take care of that.
-
I haven't decided yet if I'll go down to NYMF today. There are performances at 10:30 and 1:00. I'm thinking I'll stay home and go in tomorrow for the closing performance.
-
If I stay here, I'll work on the Moross Ballet Ballad.
-
TOD
Peter Falk
Other than his work in Columbo I am really only familar with his comedic performances. Never seen a dramatic one, but I understand his work with John Cassavetes was very good.
The In-Laws
Murder By Death
The Cheap Detective
The Great Race
Robin and the 7 Hoods
Pocketful of Miracles

TOD - Tony Randall
the Doris Day-Rock Hudson-Tony Randall movies, especially "Lover Come Back"

Good morning, all.

Spending the day at a vineyard in Fredericksburg talking about rose'. This is maybe the 15th time I've done this and I love it.
-
Hoping to get some barbecue on my way up there.
-
Then I come home and start packing the car in order to leave tomorrow.

Back in the 1970's when all the television stations had local personalities for children....we had a Three Stooges Hour on Channel 6. The hosts were insufferable....my brother Kent who was about 5 years old asked me to send in a postcard for a contest they were having. He won what was called a Pogo Pony - which was one of the oddest things I have ever seen.
The Pony had springs on its feet and you moved it around by bouncing. It came assembled - and much fun was had on it for a couple of years.

DR Jrand66, I don't remember hearing of or seeing such a thing.
-
TOD:
Tony Randall: NONE. I love the Doris/Rock movies, but think Randall is a big pill in all of them. And while some may say that is the point, he is insufferable. If they had Gig Young in those parts, as he was in TEACHER'S PET and MAKE MINE MINK, then that would have been a triangle.
He was also an absolute twit and bore when he was on HOLLYWOOD SQUARES during his ODD COUPLE days. He would sit there with big round sunglasses on. When he got called on, he would take off the sunglasses, give one or two word answers, and put the sunglasses back on. He was surly and uncooperative - as if he were too good to be there - ugh!
Peter Falk......I can't say I ever really cared for him either - but he didn't annoy me.
-
DR Jrand66, I don't remember hearing of or seeing such a thing.
It was quite remarkable!
-
I wonder if there are any videos of a kid "riding" one of those.
-
Good morning!
-
Leinsdorf was a wonderful conductor! And that special series of recordings (of Prokofiev and a few others) was great on LP (do you remember the special design of those?) and I'm sure they're doubly wonderful on CD if they're mastered well. In fact, I would hope that the recording quality has been improved/restored because wasn't that the tail end of Living Stereo and the beginning of Dynagroove -- which I believe was a hyped up process geared to sound decent on cheap-ass record players? Shame on RCA for that, but they sound wonderful on my system, anyway.
-
The wig scene sounds hilarious, DR Jrand66!

And should have been immortalized on video. :D

After a beautiful week it's supposed to rain today
We heard it about 6:30 in the morning, and it was ferocious, but it's gone and the rest of the day is supposed to be totally clear.
Which is good because we're heading out to yet another outdoor musical tonight -- Spamalot, which I have yet to see or have a huge interest in, but I plan on greatly enjoying the evening regardless. This is the venue where the eternal Gypsy took place last summer, when I swore off doing outdoor theater because there isn't even a tent there to cover the band, and protecting the equipment last year was HELL.
So now I can relish sitting on the beautiful grassy slope, food and libations at hand, just being the audience. Oh yes indeed.
-
I think I will take the bus down for the 1:30 show, say hello, and head back home. We've had several good reviews, and of course no one mentions the band or my work, but that's the way it goes. If I'd been mentioned, it would mean they really liked or really disliked my work, so c'est la vie!
Here's our latest reviews:

The Vixfamily went to see Spamalot when it was on Broadway, a birthday present for me fromVixdad. Since we are all Monty Python fans we enjoyed it greatly. I hope you do as well

Just think how great it would be to see the 8mm family films of little DR Jrand05 hopping around on that.

I love Monty Python. I just haven't watched any in a long time.

Saturday
morning afternoon greetings! In an unusual turn of events, I was the last one of our household to get up this morning. We had perfect sleeping weather last night and were able to have the windows open - aah!
-
And the damned elevator is out again. Val has called the company, and I am going nowhere. It's too humid and hot to spend my day climbing stairs

If that damned Guys & Dolls check would arrive, I just might.

Just got a nice CD in the mail -- Sondheim at the Movies. Playing it now, and it's beautiful.
-
I'm up, I'm up - nine hours of sleep. Must go do a couple of thing, so due to the lateness I may in fact not jog until later.

We had a great time in Fredericksburg. If it was closer we would return, with a car too. We found lots of things to buy we couldn't fly home with us.

-
Did stuff, and am now relaxing until the stumble-through.
-
Yes DR VIXMOM - that little girl finally got the hang of it her second time in the saddle.....I may have a photo of Kent on his PP....I shall investigate.
Huzzahs to DR ELMORE on the reviews....their success is your success.
-
Baby brother David inherited the Pogo Pony from Kent, and I did find a photo of him in the saddle.

Cute photo :)
-
Wow, it is quiet here. I've been busy working on the computer and doing laundry. I need to get up and move around. A walk would be nice but I am tired.
-
Page three? Page THREE? I don't think so, chums, I really don't think so.
-
Had our stumble-through - most of it was fine - songs are great, singers are great - pianist was all over the place in terms of tempos, so we worked all that stuff afterwards and hopefully it will all be right now. This show is especially dependent on the tempos being exactly what I need them to be, due to the huge number of put-togethers. Structure was fine.
-
Then Grant and I went and had a bite to eat - I had a chicken Caesar salad, which certainly isn't enough food for an entire day - so after the jog, I'll probably make the tuna but just eat most of it sans bread.
-
I don't know if I slept wrong on my bad shoulder or what, but it has been hurting worse than usual all day. I am saying something because it means I won't be able to post using my tablet tonight. It always hurts to do that. Even typing this on my computer hurts-darn.
It isn't unbearable, more disconcerting. Hopefully I will sleep correctly tonight and will return to my usual level of discomfort by tomorrow.
-
I did no laundry
-
Did no housework
-
Did do some grocery shopping
-
And found page 4
-
Page. 4 at 10:40 in the pm?
-
Oh and treated myself to a pedicure
-
And read 14 chapters of I,Claudius
-
I have seen the series several times but never read the book
-
The last time I dropped off a donation at the thrift shop they gave me a free book token
-
I went in and overused the shelves and found I,Claudius and decided I should read it finally
-
I was looking for caraway seed in the spice action of the grocery , oddly enough they had none. But I did find something marked "sweet and smokey meat seasoning"
-
So I bought it and used it on some porkchops before cooking them in the skillet for our dinner
-
It was quite nice actually
-
I paired it with. Trader Joes frozen red bliss potato/ vegetable mix
-
Buying sure hope On my way! one else shows up because these posts are putting me to sleep
-
I started to correct what auto correct did to my last post but it was so stupid I left it up
-

Boy I sure hope that someone else shows up because these posts are putting me to sleep

Thanks George.
-
Did the two-and-a-half mile jog and then had a tuna sandwich for my evening snack. It was kind of gross, actually - don't know why, but I couldn't just eat the salad and there was nothing else here - and the salad was smaller than usual.
-
Gratuitous Post #111!
-
We had some Papa John's pizzas for our family dinner today...a veggie, a combo, and an herbed Mediterranian.
-
I'd had a frozen Schwan's sausage and pepperoni pizza for a while.
-
I brought that so that I wouldn't have to eat the whole thing all by myself.
-
They were very good and enjoyed by all.
-
We usually play Phase 10 but my sister's set was still packed away in a box in her garage, so we played Qwirkle (https://www.amazon.com/dp/1933054395/) instead.
-
We played two games and I won both games! :D
-
Well...

...since we're so close...

Page five? Really?
-
Listened to two of the Prokofiev concertos - sad to report there's a ton of distortion in them - not sure why that would be.
-
Good evening!
-
I took a two hour nap this evening.
-
It shows how exciting TV is on Saturday night during the summer.
-
Today was not as hot as yesterday.
-
I think it only got to about 80 degrees today. Only?
-
I ended up watching two movies today.
-
First I watched a film called STONEWALL. It was a fictionalized account of the bar and the riot that sparked the gay rights movement.
-
It was actually a good film. It is amazing to think how far gay rights have come in the last 48 years.
-
I forgot about the police brutality that we suffered just for going to a gay bar. And they could get away with it.
-
You really had to live a double life back in the late Sixties.
-
Then for something different I watched THE DEAD ZONE.
-
I hadn't seen that movie since it first came out.
-
I loved the Stephen King book.
-
And the film certainly doesn't disappoint.
-
It was strange to see Martin Sheen as the villain.
-
You really had to live a double life back in the late Sixties.
:(
-
You really had to live a double life back in the late Sixties.
:(
I think every young gay person should have to watch STONEWALL.
-
I doubt they would believe that was life for gays in New York City in 1969.
-
First I watched a film called STONEWALL. It was a fictionalized account of the bar and the riot that sparked the gay rights movie.
I've never seen this. I just remember reading about the "whitewashing (https://www.nytimes.com/2015/09/20/movies/roland-emmerichs-stonewall-finds-controversy.html)" controversy when it was first released.
-
I just watched the last two episodes of this season's "Colony" that I had on my DVR.
-
Now, I'm going to watch the last two episodes of "The Expanse."
