Well, you've read the notes, the notes were honed, and now it is time for you to post until the honed cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: TEMPORIZE!
-
First post after BK!
-
Wow, that took over ten minutes to post.

First East coast post!

vixmom, in answer to your Last Starfighter question last night - The "Family version" is about 60-65 minutes, while the "full-length version" (the one which is designated as suitable for middle school and older) is about 85-95 minutes.
"Zandozan!" which is Louis' big production number, in the Family version f the script has a lyric suitable for all ages.
"Spring Break" was also changed, and shortened, for what I refer to as some "PG-rated" subject matter in the full version.
-
Saturday morning greetings!
Thank you to DRs Vixmom, John G, Jane, and Laura for validating how I spent yesterday. More Stampaway therapy today - it's the vendor show and my sister is going with me for some therapy of her own. She and her husband worked all day yesterday on Mom's room, so Nancy's going to Stampaway and Jerry's going to play golf.
-
Thank you to DT TCB for the continued vibes. I'm sending some back to you and hoping your recent lethargy is due to the heat wave. I find that kind of weather debilitating and am very grateful that right now we're having rare August coolness.
-
Good morning all. Continued vibes of comfort and hugs to all.
I'm glad you like my posts, DR Jane.
Just found out that two more of the five are going out the door at the BOCC. I feel so bad for them but it just goes to prove our point that they are getting rid of the older workers.

Hugs and job vibes fr Danise
-
Good morning, all!
-
I turned off the lights at 9:00pm last night and got out of bed at 9:20 this morning. I do not yet know how I feel but I decided I did not want to stay in bed all day.
-
I'm not certain yet about eating today, so I may live on water and ginger ale today.
-
DR Danise, best wishes for the job.
DR Ginny, I'm happy your day was therapeutic.
-
Thanks again for all the vibes yesterday.
-
Job vibes for DR DANISE!
NO NEGATIVITY VIBES for MR BK.
-
DR VIXMOM you forgot to put the chicken through the deflavorizing machine that Woody Allen's mother used to have.
-
My mother wants to buy a new SHARK sweeper - so we will be traveling to Lowe's today.....even though I ask her if she wanted to go yesterday....when the crowds were smaller, but she said no.
Of course today, my brother Mike asked her if she wanted to go, and she was all for it.....
As sands through the hourglass......

Well, we made it to the Oregon Convention Center very quickly. There was only one 5-minute stop when we got close to the bridge going over the WA/OR border. The center is quite empty. I guess we got the first entrance time.
Be back later!
-
Thanks for explaining FJL. I was thinking Louis' song and Zandozan were different songs. I have to pull out my cd and listen again.
-
DR VIXMOM you forgot to put the chicken through the deflavorizing machine that Woody Allen's mother used to have.
:D :D

My airbag light has been coming on intermittently and this week it started to just stay on all the time so this morning I brought it to my mechanic
-
He said it was because up I wasn't getting a constant current and I need a new alternator
-
With a drive back and forth to Virginia next week and a drive back and forth from Orlando in less than a month I didn't want to take by chances so I will be seriously depleting my bank account within the hour
-
In other news Vixdad and I went to IHOP fur breakfast where I enjoyed a 1/2 order of double blueberry pancakes
-
Pancakes with blueberry sun the batter as well as topped wth blueberries
-
Then we visited one of the local tree nurseries to get advice about a sad looking Alberta spruce and tar spot on our maples
-
We were told we have spider mites in the spruce and a fungus in the maples.
-
Vixdad is now armed with sprays and a sprayer to try and eradicate both
-
Then we went to the AT&T store to get Vixdad a smart phone
-
He us now the proud owner of a Samsung Galaxy J3
-
No IPhones in this family
-
So we have managed to contribute mightily to the US economy and its not even noon yet
-
You're welcome
-
I had a little food over an hour ago. So far, no cramps and no nausea. This bodes well.

I'm trying to decide my Ohio flight schedule. It looks like Tuesday, Aug. 28 to Wed., Sept. 6.

Great new review for JACKIE GOES TO DIXIE on Amazon.
5.0 out of 5 stars CURE FOR THE BLUES
By Frances Doel on August 11, 2017
Format: Paperback
"Sitting waiting for yet another doctor's appointment, where they'd undoubtedly find something more wrong with my aging body, I frowned at the blurb on the cover of JACKIE GOES TO DIXIE announcing that it's "Funny! Funny! "Funny" You know those times when everything that can go wrong, does? The latest in my tale of woe was a plague of rats in the apartment complex where I live,. So I started reading grimly. By the time I was called into the doctor's office, I had a smile on my face, and when I came out I couldn't wait to get back to Michael Druxman's captivating fish-out-of-water comedy. I was carried away by the adventures of the Jewish stand-up comedian and his accompanist and really cared about these characters, enjoying their irrepressible humor (even though I'm not usually a fan of the Don Rickles-type of comedian). Just when you think you can sit back and relax with a smile Michael Druxman ratchets up the suspense with a series of twists and turns that put our heroes into ever more intense jeopardy. This is an action-comedy with a nail-biting edge - and a resolution that satisfies and lets you go with a smile. If you want a cure for the blues, read this. If you just want to kick back for a an entertaining summer read, this is your ticket."

My Ohio trip is booked.
DR Ginny, we must plan something fun!
-
I'm up, I'm up - maybe seven hours of sleep.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Vixmom, for points of comparison, my alternator last month was around $800 at the VW dealer.
The one before that was whatever the repair shop in the wilds of Pennsylvania put in. It was $500, and it only lasted a few years.
-
DR Elmore, I'm sorry your Vernors is sitting in my garage right now!!!

The thing about posting Amazon reviews here is transparency. When a dear reader posts a review of my book everyone here knows it's a dear reader - there's no pretense about it, and seeing those names on every book of mine tells everyone that while these folks may indeed like the book they are, in fact, dear readers who know me. For example, the review I posted the other day from someone named Webstercat is someone I don't know at all, so that was nice. But when your friends are reviewing your book and your trumpeting that here, at least say "my friend loved the book" - no harm in that and it's transparent. And, of course, any review is a good thing.

No problem. Frances Doel is a friend; also a respected story editor in the Hollywood film community, who has worked for many production companies.
She would not have reviewed the book if she didn't like it.

Back is still not right. I was talking with the folks about going to the state fair. I can't make it through a grocery store trip. I certainly don't need to go to the state fair.

Hello all:
BRIAN'S SONG
HIDE IN PLAIN SIGHT

TOD: Not much of a fan but of course Funny Lady is a favorite. And I do like Misery.

A 1/2 order of something double?
It's like a word problem ...if vixmom eats 1/2 her 1/2 order of double blueberry pancakes how man pounds will she gain ?

The correct answer is of course 37

Last night we went to my brother and sister-in-law's for dinner. We had a nice time.

I can't get the photo here of Keith eating the cherry choc chip on Bruce's recommendation.

Jealous of those people who get to see BK's sold out show! :)

Yup.
-
How are you feeling today, DR Elmore?
Much much better, thanks. I just had a nice lie-down and watched the film Mrs Brown, which I had never seen. It was quite wonderful. Judi Dench was amazing, but the whole cast was quite wonderful. since I knew the actor playing Barney the stable boy who seems complicit in Mr Brown's beating, I was surprised there was no follow-up to the events.
-
I am so glad you're feeling better Elmore

Congratulations on the SRO , Bruce I wish I could be there

If our family hadn't been going to this mechanic for the past 40 years I would have something to say but I do trust this mechanic . I was still on the original battery and alternator for 7+ years and 76,000 + miles so I imagine it was time . He is only open until noon on Saturdays , he asked if I wanted to take the car back fir the weekend and bring it back Monday or leave it and I chose to take it. He wasn't going to let me pay anything yet but we settled up what was already done and I'll bring it back Monday morning and borrow Vixdad's car for the day

Sounds good, and there's nothing wrong with replacing those things. I just wonder if the light could be telling you there's something amiss with one of the airbags. (I didn't know we had airbag lights!) :)

"Spider mites in the spruce and a fungus in the maples."
This of course sounds very Cole Porter-ish as a lyric.
I was thinking that it felt like a lyric from the song "One's on the Way" but I see what you're saying.
And here in Topeka, we're shopping for staples
The mites are in the spruce and fungus in the maples
And one's on the way.
or soemthing like that.

Good afternoon.

Thank you, DR Jennifer.

DR George commented on this recipe i posted years ago.
Oh and if anyone loves the McDonald "special" Big Mac sauce. I tried this and it is quite tasty.
1/2 cup mayo
2 tbsp french dressing
2 teaspoons sweet pickle relish
1 tablespoon finely minced white onion
1 tsp white vinegar
1 tsp sugar
1/8 tsp salt.
Mix well.
I make this often and really like it. Although I have seen ads for the Big Mac Sauce that they now sell and am super curious about it.
-
We're back from my nephew's house. It was great to see him, his wife and their baby Genevieve. She's adorable ! I'm wondering if one of my Facebook friends here could post the photos of DR Catherine and me with the baby on HHW?

We just finished watching ONCE UPON A HONEYMOON with Cary Grant and Ginger Rogers.
I guess they couldn't decide whether they were making a comedy or a drama.

Jane, would you have had room for my friend Margo, too?
If an air mattress would have been ok.
-
Well, Margo picked me up at about 6 a.m., or so, and we left my house probably 10 minutes later. The drive down to Portland was uneventful (she was cruising at about 80-85 mph!) until we got to the bridge at the WA/OR border. All southbound traffic completely stopped for about five minutes for some unknown reason. We assumed that a bridge was up. But from there, we were able to get to the Convention Center very easily. We unloaded her van and brought our stuff inside, then she parked her van in the Convention Center parking garage.
-
Welcome home, George.
Thanks, Tom.

We got in line to get into the event. That took about 15 minutes to get through. At the table where you get ticket for your items. I got one for the 1972 Olympics glass mugs that I got from my parents, and when I said that I also have sheet music, the woman said "Collectibles." I questioned that, saying that it's more like books, but the woman said no, sheet music should be collectibles. Oh, well. I tried.
-
However, when I got to the collectible table, the collectibles appraiser questioned why I was sent there, and he gave me a referral to to the books people!
-
The books appraiser was able to do a liittle research on a paid website that aggregates auction sales records, even as far back into the late 1800s! She (the books appraiser) found a few auction sales for the Foster Hall Reproductions that I brought, the latest was about five years ago in Australia where a set sold for $175. She also found a couple of auction sales from the 1970s. So, because it was complete and in really good condtion, she estimated the value between $500-$700. I was guessing maybe $400-$600. Nice!
-
Then, I went to the glass appraiser's table with the Olympics glass mugs, and that appraiser actually sent me to the collectibles table because what I had wasn't fine glass, but really were more of a collectible set. That actually made sense, so back to collectibles I went!
-
The 12 glass mugs were appraised at $8-$10 each. I brought some other Olympics glasses (a set of 5) that were $10-$15 each.
-
Margo brought a little homemade card table that came down through her dad's side of the family that was made from a 1820s piano made from rosewood. It probably was made in the late 1880s to early 1900s.
-
She also brought a hand-carved table that she got from her mother's side if her family. It's made of oak, probably from Michigan, but the appraiser felt that the carver was probably from Germany. She appraised that table at $1000-$1500.
-
We went to the feedback booth and each recorded a little message, we got to get pictures taken at a photo booth, and then we left. We had lunch at a Portland restaurant (it was pretty good), then we drove home, which also was a very easy drive.
-
I laid down for a bit and actually fell asleep until my sister called, asking if I could help her and her boyfriend get the last few items out of the house she just sold. I did, we ate (from The Lemon Grass Restaurant (http://thelemongrassrestaurants.com)) then I came home.
-
And that was my day. :)
-
I can tell that the rain is back. My arthritis is really bothering me tonight.

Home from food - the theater was packed - every seat full.

Not at all? Maybe because after I've posted, I've switched to playing a solitaire game on my tablet and that might make it so that I don't show as being on-line...if that makes sense.
-
Actually, it does.
-
Since my browser wasn't the top-most and currently-being-used app on my tablet, maybe HHW can't see me as being on-line.

Just a theory.
